I am deeply sorry

Last weekend, while i was at a batchelors party my roomate found it funny to use my user name to create posts. This ended up in me being banned for 7 days and the vulgarity used was very disrespectful to me and this community. He is/was pissed of at me because he hasnt chippd in on rent in about 2 1/2 months so i told him last friday he needed to move. So as i was at the party he used my user name (because cookies enabled im always logged in) and created a new user name using a diffrent broswer. I hope you members can accept my apologie, as im deeply sorry. This was extremely embarrasing to me. And now i have kicked this mother out of my home. again i am deeply sorry for the actions last weekend, and once again i hope you all can forgive the situation. As I previously stated in those threads, I didn't think that was you anyway. Just seemed really out of character to me. Almost child like I thought. No hard feelings here as I didn't think it was you anyway. I couldn't explain the IP similiarities but you just did so in my opinion its the past and there is no need to dwell in the past.

I too thought it was a little strange to see Banned under your name. I had never seen any wild posts on your part that would have caused it...

Dude!! I was in the same exact situation. I kicked this one guy out, not because of rent, but because of disrespect. He would bring his gf at night and you know what when I was trying to get sleep. I gave the guy consideration to have the place to himself for a few hours. What I did was told him to watch a movie with him and his girlfriend as well as me adn my girlfriend. The movie was called You Me and Dupree (if I got it right) He got the point I was trying to make and at the end of the movie we got in an argument. I won. Yay!

Is it too soon to laugh at this? (Or am I just a bit twisted?).

Once a vandal created a login of an admin with an i instead of an l in the username, everyone thought the admin had gone nuts. Very funny.

I tried out Slide2unlock purely for it's locking abilities, and had to take it off because of the irritating fake interface, trying to pretend to be something it's not - yuk. Give me honest old Winmo anytime.

I think some of the comments from the antiapple fanboys are a little harsh. The fact is the guy has bought a Kaiser and likes the look of the iphone, so to him he's probably got the best of both worlds. I think everyone who immediately slags the iphone isn't seeing the full picture. It may have its faults with office syncing, no ability to configure etc.. but it is undoubtedly a thing of beauty with an interface that is ahead of it's time.
It amazes me that with all the hacking and modding going on in this forum that as soon as the dreaded "iphone" word is used all the antiappleheads race to be the first to flame the originator.
I would have given serious consideration to the iphone if it had the same functionality as the Kaiser but we all make choices. I for one think if people want to dress their Kaisers up as an iphone then fair play. I don't imagine anyone here with be giving the developer of slide2unlock a hard time for his app.
I'll wait for the inevitable backlash, yawn!!!!!

I have an iPhone that I paid $499 for. Is there any software I can spend lots of money on to make it look like a Windows Mobile device. I could have bought a Tilt for the same money, but why , when I can just buy an Iphone and make it look like a Kaiser. Your help is appreciated Thanks

My wife's got an iPhone. Cool device indeed. So cool that I find it ridiculous to try to copy it's interface to our Kaiser. The Kaiser's simply not meant to be used like an iphone.
There's 2 different philosophy behind, it's like trying to adapt 7 seats cause you like space in a Mini or a Smart cause you like tiny little cars.
BUT using good ideas from the iphone that obviously can be adapted and adds value to the Kaiser is a good idea. I think that's exactly what HTC has done with the Diamond.

The way I look at it is this, if someone has something new to add, it may not be in a search, as it is the guy is obviously new to the forum so rather than lambasting him immediately why not gently break him in. We were all new to this once and there's way too many bashers here already

however am curious.. if one is not given tamiflu etc for the swine flu, and instead given the standard flu treatment.. ie rest and parcetamol for the fever... will the body heal itself like as per normal flu?

Well, I think the context certainly helps in determining whether something is trolling, as is the way one says it. If you talk about how great the iPhone is in a respectful manner and in the General Discussion subforum or the Off-Topic subforum, that's not really trolling at all. If you go to the HD2 subforum and make a thread that's about how the iPhone is so much better than Windows Mobile, and how the HD2 sucks so much, there's no doubt about it that you're trolling.
It's the same if you go to an iPhone forum and create threads talking about how the HD2 is so much better than their stupid iPhones. All four situations you listed could be done in a manner that would be considered offensive/trolling, and all four could be done in a respectful manner in the appropriate places and be more or less acceptable for that forum.

I think DaveTheTytNIIGuy pretty much sums it up. The context is all important.
I tend to think of Trolls as folk who are being unnecessarily black and white about something and posting it where common sense would tell you it will stir up animosity rather than measured discussion.
Another mark of Trolls for me is their past posting history. Do they always post controversial, argument-enciting posts, or are they most often calm sensible posters. Just sometimes what can look like a Troll post is actually a bit of a vent by a normally sensible person who for whatever reason has become very frustrated.
A person with only 10 posts all of which stir up controversy is probably a Troll.
A person with a few hundred calm, sensible posts and one that is "having-a-go" at something, is not a Troll and should be read carefully without letting your emotions run high.

Seriously though, if anyone actually tries to claim that the iPhone is "better" than the HD2, they are either:
- An apple fanboy
- Ignorant
- A troll
- An engineer (i.e someone who gets off on the iPhone's build and design quality and completely ignores its total lack of functionality.)
My boyfriend falls into the 1st and 4th category. He tells me about the iPhone's beautifully machined buttons, how they cost $1 per button as opposed to the $0.02 that other phone companies spend. But then he has to sign off skype whenever he wants to check his train times, and then he cries.

Keep an eye on him my friend -- just the other day I had some random sonofabitch message me on Skype with "r u in2 ifonez? u gt cam?" -- before I could even respond with a mandatory pwning he had signed off, most likely to check train times.
You may have stated various times over the years that he was a guy who didn't warrant any 'giving up' on, but that was before the iPhone was invented and he got hold of one.

I do have difficulty sometimes with this topic. I oftentimes just post my true opinions and people have called it trolling. I sometimes can filter but sometimes I'm just putting in my two sense. I saw the thread on Iceland photos and wanted to post my thoughts on Iceland that I don't really care if that country sank and was completely eliminated, but I stopped myself, thinking that it would be misinterpreted as trolling.

[Q] Me and my girl had a fight

So we had another fight about me spending too much time playing with and talking about android and phones. As long as cellphones don't come up in conversation we were the happiest couple in the world. But I finally broke up with her because I couldn't even think about android without her getting mad at me. And I figured I would just find a girl that shared my interest. But I just realized that there are ZERO females(at least in the state of alabama) that even know what android is. Should I quit looking now? Does anyone have any advice to find them(if they exist that is)?

Sorry you think I'm a noob, but I can control myself enough to not talk about it, but WHY should I? I'm going to look for a girl with common interest, and if I don't find anyone I will suppress my techie talk. But until I know that she doesn't exist, why would I change the kind of woman I would like to date?
So next time your off just supermanning hoes think about what a relationship should be about.

I somewhat agree with Original Android.... if you usually get along, apologize and try to consider some of her interests. some people just dont get our devotion(addiction) to such things
as far as quitting XDA..... bad idea. maybe just set a specific time for this great site.

Well my friend, it's time to negotiate . I did this with my wife, I agreed with her that I will spend some hours a week to be on the web and xda of course (while she's around). So both of us are happy since I comply with the terms when she's around ....but she's not always around you know.

Yes, time is not equal my girl says...
Anyway we should re negotiate a new way if possible

She's the one, I'm pretty sure of it

Ok first off, hope you are LOVING highschool and football still. And yes I messed up big time, she's truely a wonderful person. But I didn't have to call her, she called me and we came to a compromise. She said if I would buy her that "nexus thingy" and actually "teach" her what I was talking about, she thinks she would really enjoy learning about it. And in my mind it wasn't a compromise, I got exactly what I wanted..... oh wait I just spent $500 on an N1

I'm going to be frank. Return that N1. The relationship is now headed in the wrong direction for the wrong reasons.
In your future relationships, if you're with your girl, be with your girl. Learn to compromise. Your partner's reaction to the particular behavior (i.e., dealing/talking Android) is ultimately just a natural reaction towards the frequency in which you exhibited it (i.e., excessively). Imagine if your partner asked you to accompany them to go shopping every day of the week for at least 3 hours each day. While you guys are shopping, she'll talk to you about every brand, and fashion, etc. Should she leave you because you aren't interested in her interests?
Your Android fetish is a hobby. There are more important things in life that you should be paying attention to. I'm not saying this girl is -the- one you'll be with for the rest of your life, but things like growing and improving social skills should take greater precedence than learning and keeping what's up with the latest and greatest on Cyanogen mods.
Take my advice for what it's worth to you. Just remember, at the end of the day, it's just a phone.

And it's not about roms or tweaks it's about the future of technology, which I think everyone can agree is rather important

fk, i had something like this too once, since then i didnt talk about phones that much anymore xD..
well but she knows now that this is like a hobby for me, and its not that bad when i talk about it from time to time...
hell we are techjunkies, but even we need to hold back with our tech **** when talking to a girl xD
(i knew that before, but, for example, i couldnt live with it, if my gf would buy an iphone.................XD)

You telling me that it's not about ROM or tweaks and that it is actually about the future of technology is really a bad attempt at justifying your hobby. This is even illustrated by the following clause when you feel the need to garner further support of your hobby by amassing the opinions of your fellow XDA members.
But nevermind that, good luck with the relationship. I do hope that things work out in the end.

I usually dont talk about phones when Im with my girl... hell I've even visited xda less, since Im in a normal relations (not those in which I have to be responsible for everyf**king thing.. - had one of those about a year and a half ago)
anyways - just find something to talk about that is interesting for both of you + keeps your mind off the phones...
or if you can't you can get yourself off the xda, or you can always ask someone to ban you.. just kidding

so basically she had the bravery to say : $500 fone or no sammiches
