Does a nandroid backup also backup apps that have been moved to SD (native FroYo method of apps to SD)?
The latest clockwork recovery backs up the native FroYo apps2sd apps as well

Any idea about Amon Ra recovery nandroids?
So my daily build is the CM7 nightlies.
I have pretty much all my apps on my ext3 partition. However, if I want to flash another ROM (aside from another nightly) I pretty much have to wipe. Wiping also wipes the ext3 partition.
I do do a nandroid before wiping, and it does back up the ext3 partition, but when I restore it doesn't seem to restore the ext. Also for some reason, after restoring I am unable to install apps at all to the ext3 partition, and I have to format the whole sd card to fat32, then make a ext3 partition again.
I actually kept getting hotboots after restoring a nandroid whenever an app would try to install. This was after I installed dta2sd.
So how can I backup a ROM with info on an ext3 partition, and restore it after wiping the partition.
I guess you're using ROM Manager with its default recovery.
Use AmonRa's recovery.
I have a HTC Dream with EngSPL and CyanogenMod-4.2.15.1
I need more userdata space and I wanted to switch to DangerSPL while keeping all my user data.
Is it possible to do a full nandroid backup, upgrade from EngSPL to DangerSPL and restore the nandroid backup on the resized partitions?
Yes, it's possible to restore, but with DangerSPL you will not have (much?) more space on /data. If you need more space on /data you should try Custom-MTD. A link to the thread can be found in my signature.
Greetings,
I've MIUI 1.11.4 with A2sd (1GB SD-EXT4). Does running MIUI backup transparently backup everything on my phone including all the apps in the SD-EXT4 partition? Or I have boot into recovery and backup all the partitions manually?
I also notice that HTC sense can backup phone settings to google, when I wipe and reinstalled Sense 3.5 ROM on my gf phone, after setting up her google account, all her settings were automagically sync back! The phone went to market and install all the apps that she previously had installed. I'm amazed! How can I activate this feature on my phone? Thanks!
You should do a nandroid backup, it will get everything, including the ext partition. You'll need to reboot into the recovery and have about a GB of free sdcard if you're planning on backing up a full ext partition.

I'd like to flash MIUI or CM7. Right now i'm using Gueste. Should i go back to EXT3 or just wipe everything and install MIUI or CM7. I'm a bit confused, because i searced before posting and others say that MIUI/CM7 are EXT4, others that you must flash back to EXT3. What's true?
Just install CM7
Older releases was EXT3, but since their stable build CM7 are EXT4.
No need for format.
You might need a data wipe anyway, so do a backup before installing.
You need to wipe all system for installing those ROM. And to be sure use back to ext3, it's always better to do this as ROM that run ext4 make the conversion anyway.
Hello!
As always do a backup first - SMS, contacts, calendar via MyPhoneExplorer and Apps via Titanium backup.
You can to a full wipe from cwm and then install the latest CM7-Kang - and don't forget gapps...
...afterwards you can reinstall you data and you are good to go.
CM7 support both EXT3 and EXT4 – and usually does a EXT4-conversion on the way.
I don’t see any necessity to go back to EXT3 on the way…
flash miui rom (you will find a lot of roms in dev section) or latest cm7 kang. it's your decision, both rom's are stable.
but go back to EXT3 first. that's the safe way
