That's your problem. You need to be using test keys. Second, root? Also, read the very first line in my signature.
When i root i cant unlock my phone again coz i dont have the unlock code. do i have to root first? before going to rc30 OTA?
even tried rooting but on telnet it doesnt connect it says refused?

Are you using test-keys?
Chev, please be more specific in you thread titles from now on. "Can't update, No Signature, Verification Failed" would have been a lot better title. Also as mentioned a search for any of those terms would have returned useful results.
Rooting shouldn't effect your phone's lock state, unlocked should remain unlocked. I'm not 100% sure of this so search the forums to be sure, it has been covered many times before.
What do you mean you can't unlock your phone again if you root? Doesn't matter, once you unlock it, it should stay unlocked.

Haha, we are all trying to put in our two cents at the same time. As I said before, please search. It doesn't matter when you joined this forum, you still need to know how to do your research. I am not going to explain how to completely root your phone when there are MANY tutorials and threads in this forum just for that.
As far as telneting, are you fully downgraded?

Usually when you first search, it's by title, and if "help" is all that's in the title well then that thread won't be returned in your search results. Then you must search by posts (most don't), which is far more tedious. A thread as simple as this one, even if it becomes locked, could be very helpful to someone searching in the future with the same problem but they'll never find it if they only search by title (which most do). just my 2 cents..
@chev, Zarboz posted a good beginners link, study it until you fully understand the different terms. Then jump to the Helpful Thread and study that. You should have a few hours researching ahead of you but in the end it'll make you a little bit wiser and a narrow down the chances of you bricking your phone.

Yea, that's true man. When I was brand new to linux, android, and everything else, i always searched by title AND post just to find an answer. No one does nowadays, they think they can just search by title and there answers come true.

To be correct, at the home screen, you hit enter two or three times, most people say twice, but all it does is clear the buffer so whatever you enter is on a brand new "line," then you type telnetd, hit enter, then your telnetd daemon starts in the background.

sorry i'm a newbie so if the thread is in wrong room,please mod to move it..
i've just bought my G1 a month ago and until now it hasn't received the updates OTA.
after searching how to get the updates for a whole month, then i noticed that it might be my G1 has it automatic updates turned off.
this is because i've bought 2 G1(one for my GF),and she G1 got the updates,even it's already twice. and she got notification about the other applications' updates ready for download. while my G1 never get any notification for the applications..
so i assume my G1 automatic updates setting is turned off,however i can't figure it out how to turn it on..
so anyone can help me please tell me how to turn on the automatic updates..

It sounds like you are not even using cupcake yet,
you could greatly benifit from a cynagon rom or the like.
also they are based off ADP1 so should be immune to the auto updates
But i want the new updates.. especially the emoticon.. there's no emoticon in the old version..
i'm new in this forum so i haven't read all the thread(maybe it will take forever>_<) but from what you said it seems that the cupcakes has many minus points..
But still i really want to send sms with emoticons>_<

You can flash rc29 and wait to see if you get the update. But what the other poster was saying is just root your phone and go to one of the custom roms. You'll prolly be more happy doing that considering it has everything that the t mobile roms have plus more.

First thing first: You don't know what you want.. automatic updates are NOT what you want as the provider takes over your phone. Root it and install updates manually.
search around for the official t-mobile cupcake update, should be posted somewhere on this forum. Flash that and you will probably start getting ota updates faster.
i just want to know one thing again..
when i flash my phone,will it be a restore default setting? because my phone isn't factory unlocked and i'll lose the phone function if i restore it to default-.-

I'm kinda confused what you just said. If your saying your phone is unlocked and want to know if you flash if your phone will become locked back to T-Mobile. If that is the question then your answer is it will still be unlocked. The sim unlock has nothing to do with it. You will be fine.

I try all the comments and researches to root it, but I can’t, bootloader " model id incorrect " even the telnet did not working same error as “ Error while connecting to localhost 170.0.0.1 connection refused” even my provider ip no things happening just hang or sating around 10 min & in the last “error while connect to server … “ but without “connection refused”, I install the terminal from market but (id command get) " uid=10029(app_29) gid=10029(app_29) groups=3003(inet),

btw..are you trying to telnet to your phone through USB? if so, you'll be trying for a long time and you CLEARLY dont know what you are doing so I would stop trying to root your phone before you end up with a brick...

With all that attitude... you tell me you try to telnet to your phone... I asked you " are you trying to telnet through USB " because you can't ..USB doesnt have a com port but a SERIAL/DEBUG cable does. I'm telling you that if you are this confused then you shouldnt be trying this cause you can make your phone a paper weight.. You know to weigh down papers, no longer functional, garbage. Anyways, dont come here asking for help and use fowl language in the process cause people will laugh as you cry, I will at least .

I have just managed to root my old LG P880/4xHD using advice from this forum. Thought I would try on an old phone first. One reason I tried is because I cannot update Android via the usual About phone, Software updates, Check now for updates. The Android version installed is 4.0.3. I am in Australia and it is possible the phone is an overseas model (got it from a friend in LG). Has "Not for Resale" stamped inside the back cover. When I try to update Android, I get an error message "Registered Error - Your device is not registered yet." I had hoped rooting would get around this but it hasn't. Have looked up old forum posts and there is talk of using .kdz files and all sorts of other things. Can anyone help me get around this registration issue but please be aware I am a novice and most of the older posts I read, I couldn't understand so simple explanations please. Thanks.
What you have is developer or test device and it is a bit different from normal ones. Try googling more but you will have hard time....

Could it be that it has overseas firmware, I read in a two or three year old post that this can happen but there was a way to get around this.

Its a year old phone, its not like its the nexus one or samsng galaxy s2...
Try flashing 4.12 with kdz. Google is your friend, try kdz flash 4.1.2 Optimus 4x hd.
Funny thing, when I bought my phone, only google asked me to register the phone, the usual Google Play thing. SO what do you exactly mean with REGISTER?
i think the whole phone isn't registred by LG for consumers, like dimi89 said it has to be a dev device. they aren't registred and cannot be updated/used the normal way. the serial number of this phone isn't present in the LG databases i think. Just flash kdz and everything is fine. You know that you don't get any support or warranty on that phone but you should know that.

it is a development edition not a consumer edition. read here .
dont try anything else than root if u dont have good knowledge or u will trash the phone.

My Note 8 will not update I want the new UI update but everytime I try to update my phone it goes to 32% and errors ...I checked my info and realized my baseband version and my build number are different.
Do I need to flash a version of stock rom using Odin? Or is there an easier fix ....I have searched for this question ALOT over the web and I really would like to get it fix so it will stop trying to update EVERYTIME I connect to the internet.... AT&T couldn't even help me with this so please! Someone tell me what I need to do to fix this and update my phone

You didn't mention which note 8 model you have?
(assuming from where you said AT&T).

Sorry I just want to get my phone to stop trying to update my note 8 is a N950U
My baseband version and my build number are different...is there anyway to fix this or at least make it stop trying to do a failed update?
