I have been using an app call Market-Enabler that allows unlocked G1s and Canadians to purchase paid android apps on their phone.
I'm sure some of you know or heard of this app. Just wondering what you guys think of it? Won't work on cupcake 1.5, but I have it working on Hero 1.5.

Thats a pretty dumb statement. It'll work on ANY 1.5 *with root via 'su' command*. BTW "cupcake" was the development name for the version 1.5 branch, so hero 1.5 *is* cupcake, as is every other 1.5.
wonders if the once again those without root will be able to get paid apps again
as ME uses setprop it needs to be run as root, if it's incorporated into a rom the api could be used but ME then needs to be compiled with the same certificate as the other system apps to get into the radio group... But installing another image also implies that the phone has to be rooted.

I'm having trouble getting Pandora back since upgrading to Donut. The app won't show up in the market. Searching for the app turns up nothing, and when I downloaded the .apk off the web, it said it could not install. Is Pandora not Donut compatible or is this a problem unique to me?
what rom are you using?
It works for me, try searching "pubandora"
wait till they update..pandora not donut compatible yet

Pandora is a protected app. The ADP ROMs can't install protected apps from the market.

Umm...I switched to this ROM from JesusFreke 1.51 ADP, and I had Pandora on that...

The JesusFreke 1.51 ADP ROM was modded to include protected app downloads. Using the official HTC ADP1 ROM won't allow you to download protected apps. I'm assuming by now you have switched to one of the other 1.6 ROMS available though.
Does anyone have the actual app from the market on their phone? Could you post it here and see if it'll work on our 1.6 with Eclair bits? Or if there's someone out there who could hack it like they did with the 4.0.0 maps. I could really use this kind of search feature.
indeed, looking for this one too! could come in handy
I loaded it onto my ADP1 (more details on my setup in my sig) but sadly it won't even install, as it checks for 2.1 an will tell you, that you don't have 2.1.
So either you'll have to edit the apk or some system files.
The APK is available over in this thread, and I just tried editing it to reduce the version requirements but it still isn't working fully. See my post in that thread.
Google just put it out for 1.6. Woot!

Anyone know if this will work?
I believe this is the same one that is included with CM 5.0.7 test5, android 2.1 ROM. It works fine for me.

I would be interested to see this work for us. Seems like there are some issues according to the thread. May have to wait till the bugs are sorted.
I've cooked this into my ZenEXP-Eris Rev7 RC and it works great so long as A2SD isn't activated. With A2SD activated I'm unable to gain root perms. with any app. However, the icon for superuser still shows up and I can enter the program, go into settings, etc.. just no su perms. for any app.
I'm using the Eclair unsecured version.

I've been using this Su for the past 2 days and i haven't had any problems with it.

This is the ripped apk from the droid x
I got a dev over in their forum to get it for me but it's unable to install on our aria's
hoping to get it working for us cause that would be awesome
any ideas?
ERROR: Application requires API version 8. Device API version is 7 (Android 2.1-update1) looks like you will have to test drive the new froyo for aria if you want to test this unless there is a way to update api on the android, and i doubt it.

maybe someone with a droid X can run the manifest viewer from here https://www.isecpartners.com/mobile_application_tools.html
and see what all its checking for.
Moved to Themes and Apps, as this is not Development related.
This app is now available in the Android Market.

Is it? I just searched for Blockbuster, didn't find it.
It was published to the Android Market by Blockbuster on accident, apparently it has to be optimized for each device so they pulled it. I installed it but I haven't tried it at all.

can you upload a copy maybe its different from the first one linked
How do I get the APk? Let me know and ill put it up.
download appsaver from the market and you can save the apk... just upload it after that.
I installed CM 7.0.3 last Friday, I'm beginning to see more and more apps that say "installed" (from earlier) but trying to re-push them to my phone they now grey out my HTC Hero on Sprint saying the device isn't compatible.
I have the feeling this is an issue of the market assuming my HTC is stock and the newest builds of the apps are not compatible. Is there a way to indicate I'm using Android 2.3.3 so I can have Google Maps back?
I was able to get my Google Music beta as a .apk from someone and it installed fine manually and works great but was another just as above that wouldn't work through the market.
Hey I am having the same problem with the market not recognizing my hero. I am actually just looking for the google music beta app, =P so if you had a link I would appreciate that vmuch.

There is a copy of the music.apk but I believe you need to have the invite from Google Music Beta first before it will work. I had mine, loaded on PC went to my phone and was as I described above. Got the file from someone and loaded logged in and it works perfectly.
Thank you, I will try the links above
I would say that yes, that is affecting me, but I can't be the only one with a handset that wasn't designed to be running Gingerbread but is obviously compatible.
With all of the ROM community support of aging devices seems there must be a work around for this that is going to start to become a larger problem.
Making sure I make backups of my apps from now on seperately from my CWM recovery backups.
To get Google Music from the market, you have to edit your build.prop file. The instructions are in another thread. A simple search will find it.

change your buid.prop to say device is a "DROIDX", & youll have access to even more apps, & the google music app is in the cdma hero section for download, use the search
just cnanging the banner to droid x wont do it the apps that arnt available for are made for hdpi devices and tablets so when u try and instsall them itll say parse error
In your build.prop located in /system change your ro.opengles.version value from 65536 to 131072. So your end product looks like this: ro.opengles.version=131072
Can you edit that file with an app, or do you need to use adb? I tried using es file explorer but no dice, it's probably in use by the system eh?
Edit: forgot to enable root permissions for it...derp.
