In today's element i can find calendar, key block, tomtom, date and some other progrs.
But for example i can't find the album, the youtube and many other progrs.
What i need do to add some elements to today's element ?
Thansk a lot.
Not all programs have a today screen add-on, actually most do not.
If you want to add programs to your today screen, you need a today screen launcher. try searching it in google.
personally I recommend SPB Pocket Plus, good but it's not free.

This question has been posted in other forums, but never with a solution:
Is the ANY way of changing the default filter for contacts. Filtering the contacts is easy, but whenever I exit and return to the contacts app, it always changes back to having no filter on.
I have 3,000 contacts, but 2,500 are in one category that I use less often. Keeping the filter to only the categories I need would speed things up for me tremendously.
I've had to go to 3rd-party products to do that. The Contacts folder in SBSH PocketBreeze supports it as does PocketInformant. I'm sure there are others.
I also don't know how to fix the builtin contact manager, however i use PocketCM and it is a free great app, very finger friendly! You'll enjoy it!!!
Minimise rather than close the Contacts app. The filter will remain active until you close the app.
What's weird is that WM2003SE supported this (at least the smartphone version did). Then when I got my first WM5 device, (again Smartphone) it was gone. This feature was removed from WinMo.

PocketCM looks interesting. Is the filter property already built-in to the app, or do I have to edit the settings file?

PocketCM reads all the requested settings built in your Windows Contact options, like Category, City or Company (all these used as filters), than there is one more own Favorites filter!!
I suggest to use this theme, MM-HTCV2.zip, optimized for the newest version, 0.19b.cab, than you can find your prefered language in the main forum!!
Ciao
Where is the xml located in the main memory of the phone? I came from a Dash and the home screen is usually edit through the Home folder but that isn't so it seems in the WM pro OS. Can anyone point me to the right direction?
More Info Please !
Phone / Rom etc.
If you mean the BS .xml :
Windows -> BatteryStatus
There you find default.xml
Sorry, I'm talking about the actual Today screen and not the programs. I want to edit my own font size, plugins, and etc via the xml. I'm using Tran's Open Touch 5.0UL . For example, I came from using the Dash which runs on Windows Mobile standard. In order to pick out what home screen I wanted, I had to go install the theme in a folder called Home. It runs the theme via xml and if any configuration needed to be changed, that would be the file I go to depending on what theme it is.
I've been trying to find the same thing for days and days myself. I'm used to editing the home.xml file (in\Application Data\Home) on my StrTrk smartphone. Now I've got a brand-new Tilt, and can't figure out how WM6 on the PPC handles the Today screen. I have a much longer version of this question on MoDaCo; 200+ views since yesterday, but no replies.
I've tried 3rd party software to make different Today screens (Wisbar & WAD), but it just slows down the PPC.
Please -- anyone who can tell us the name of the Today screen's file is a hero.
WM6 Pro is a totally different animal.
No xml files to edit unless you use a 3rd party Today Plugin.
To enable/disable today plugins goto:
Start - Settings - Personal - Today -Items
It is a simple checkbox.
If you want to do some custom xml Today screens check out rlToday. Freeware and the capabilities are good enough.
Note: To uninstall permanently any of the plugins check out Today Plugin Uninstaller. Removing the unused plugins will speed up the portrait to landscape redraw time significantly.
Thanks for the hints. But... I'm well aware of how to disable/enable plugins, and I'm trying to do things the hard way; without using plugins.
All I want to know is how the default Today screen gets generated on the PPC. WM6 is very similar to WM5 on the Smartphone, so it looks as if the difference is the PPC.
I have been using Brett PPCProfiles V3.0 for almost 2 and a half years. I really liked the flexibility in the program as well as the features. Have not been able to find any program that could match this programs features (atleast not by my standards). All good things come to an end, and I wanted to upgrade my profiles feature. I have gone through the free PPC software site but did not come up with something as good as PPCProfiles.
Has anyone out there used a program similar to this? I m most intesested in the feature that syncs your sound profiles with calendar. Also, should have the flexiblity of automatic profile switching depending on day and the time.
I use PhoneAlarm. It is great as it is very customisable with skins, etc etc. It is commercial though. Just Google it. They may even have a free trial I cannot remember.
another commercial piece of software is SPB Phone Suite. Really like the way it handles profiles. There is a 10 day trial or something.
Also commercial but does all of the above is SBSH's PhoneWeaver. In addition to just the sound profile it can also adjust your network settings (Bluetooth, WiFi, etc.), your backlight settings and can execute programs. Triggers can be day/time, calendar status, or ActiveSync/AC Power connect/disconnect.
I'd guess the SPB app is pretty similar.
Thank you all. I'll give the SPB a shot. I heard its reviews from a colleague, he's pretty happy with it. BTW PPCProfile also could also handle bluetooth based on profile but not Wifi, so SPB becomes even more interesting.
Phone alarm is the most advanced of these.
The current version offers the ability to customize everything from the Email/ SMS/ MMS/ IMS programs you use, to your default SIP, full sound-backlight-radio-wifi-push update rate...controlled by time/ appointment category, priority. It will even load new today screen skins based on the profile you want. There are hundreds of skins available.
Simply put, phoneAlarm Pro is the first app I install on any new phone. It is the most important one to me for full control of my phone's behavior.

I agree 100% with this.
I'll +1 on PhoneAlarm. I wouldn't go without the automatic profile switching for work and meetings.. Work is quieter, with some more subtle alerts, and my "meeting" profile is nearly muted and most alerts only vibrate.
Plus other manual profiles, such as (daytime) Car (very loud and bright), Night Car (very loud, but dim backlight), etc etc...
Can't do without it.
Thanks guy, just downloaded a Trial for PhoneAlarm. Giving it a run now....
Greetings!
I would like to know how to have a desktop shortcut for programs i use on my phone desktop i have tomtom installed and in the today screen options under items tomtom is selectable as a desktop shortcut icon.
How would i go about doing this for programs that dont install this option to the items menu?
Thanks for any help
The short answer is that you cannot create shortcuts on the today screen without installing a today plugin like SPB Pocket Plus, to my knowledge. The reason Tomtom shows up in the today plugin menu is because the application has its own today plugin, not a shortcut, which is somewhat equivalent to a gadget in windows vista. You need to find a today plugin that allows you to display your own shortcuts within it in order to show your own shortcuts.
Dave
Thanks dave i thought that may be the case i think you can use c++ to write them saw a microsoft page with somthing about it but im not that clever
I thought it was about time I shared my secrets. I've thoroughly tested every app. What doesn't work well, I don't post or use. Most if not all are .cab files so installing them is a snap. Some applications do require a second program for them to run, thus it would be more convienient if you were to install them first. The two files are Adobe Flash 7, and the .NET 3.5 Framwork...
Flash 7: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flash/devices/pocket_pc/installers/fp7_ppc_en.cab
.NET 3.5: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...49-3C6B-42F1-9FD9-0041345B3385&displaylang=en
Unfortunately the .cab file is somewhat hard to find for the .net framework. The link I've inlcuded is from Microsoft and is installed from your PC. If all else fails a quick internet search for ".net compact framework cab" should get a result. Make sure you install both of these programs TO THE DEVICE.
Note...the list isn't in any order, I like them all!
FlashLIGHT
This is one of my favorite programs. It's called FlashLIGHT. It's a flash application (amusing isn't it?). It's an .exe file you copy into your programs folder under My Device>Windows>Start Menu>Programs. Then it will appear in your programs list. It's a really nice app with some really neat features...including...THE LIGHTSABER. Yes, for once, a lightsaber app for a phone without a motion sensor.

S2U2 (Slide to Unlock 2) and S2V (Slide to View)
Here's one that was just updated today! I really like this one just because it's really easy to use. It has full screen caller ID, SMS, MMS, and Email notifications. I would recommend you install it to the phone.
The other app that also works with S2U2 is S2V, it's a really nice photo viewer that you can also use to set the background to the today screen, contacts, and the background for portrait and landscape mode in S2U2.
More information and the links to download are at the developer's site...

Batti 2.4
This plugin is really handy. It's a battery gauge that sits at the top of the taskbar and shows graphically how much battery is left. There are like one or two other apps similar to this but this one is very customizeable. Install this one to the device.

HTC Home Customizer
This one is kind of nice just for a change of pace. If you're like me, you got bored looking at the same plugin. Install to the device.

StopWatch 2.2
Very nice chronograph app. Haptic feedback (vibrates when you tap the buttons), split, and alarms. You can install this to the storage card.

Pencil Box
This one is really nice. This is the free version, and as you will find out, you can't save your masterpieces. I have the full version and if you're into sketching like me, it's well worth the $13. You can install this to the storage card.

Kaiser Tweak
This is a MUST for any Kaiser owner. Enable HSDPA, turn off that extremely annoying startup sound, make the keyboard faster, and much more! Make sure you do a soft reset after changing any settigns. Install this to the device.
