***SD KO!! Help please!!!*** - MDA Compact II Software Upgrading

Hi all,
I have an HTC Charmer, T-Mobile MDA compact II, "the one in my signiture below"
it worked fine for almost 2 years, now I have a big problem!
I have pulled out the SD card for some time, so the slot was just left open..
then after some time, 1 month maybe, I put it back in and did not work!
CAN NOT RECOGNIZE THE SD CARD ANYMORE!!!!
Have tried with 4-5 different SD,
16 MB
500 MB
1 GB
2 GB
no way for it to work!!!
I have tried many things...
** Have tried to install SDHC but nothing changed!
** Have updated with a new Rom, nothing changed!
** Have downgraded to ufficial WM5 Rom, nothing changed!
** Have opened the case, and looked to the pins inside, they seem all to be allright! no bended pin or demaged!
Does anyone have my same problem? is there a solution?
is there a Driver or whatelse that can bring it back to work again?
Please Help,
Thanks in advance!

Maybe there is dust inside the SD slot. Try to get it out of there with something small.

thanks ChrBeck for your reply,
I have tried,
also controlled all the pins pin by pin, they seemed to be all fine!
now I did the last try, to spry in it with contact cleaner spry!
it have to dry up... wish it will work..

Problem With My device

I had a problem with my device
beetle aka Hw6515b
my device is reseting almost 15 times in a day
i reflash the device but nothing
what could be?
thx in advance
Check the battery slot, if you open it the device will reset, so it's possible there is a false contact or the slot is not properly closed
ok

100% checked but is reseting what else can be?
Hi,
I've got exactly the same problem !!
Any solution ?
The problem is the microswitch on the top right side.
There's a fix page for the Ipaq 6515 here which explains how to stuff paper in the hole and it forces the switch open all the time so it doesn't re-set. I've tried it and it works perfectly.
Microswitch
If you are steady handed and handy with a fine tipped soldering iron. You can solder the leads of the switch together and not have to worry about it anymore. That is what I did about 5 months ago on mine and it has worked great ever since.
Thanks a lot. It works.
I had the same problem but after doing it with a paper,my 6515 is working like a new one.
The Paper thing in the slot for the Microswitch... worked perfect for me !!
Thanksss a lot !
You're my HERO !
I Will try that this Week End ! Thankssss Again!

Fix for No Sim Detection Problem!

Ok guys I had been without my phone for about 2 weeks due to it not detecting the sim card. After replacing the sim card, as well as the slot and many other parts, I thought the only remedy to fix my phone was by replacing the main board. Through research and having the additional sim slot by my side, I came up with a great idea that finally worked! This is what I did. First, open the sim slot door and locate a tiny black switch, this is the one that is controlled by the switch on the outside. Push it up all the way and power up the phone. Hold press firmly on the sim card against the phone, with the outside door open. Wait for the phone to boot up and the green light to flash, which means it is getting a signal, then you can release your grip and close the door by locking it. Everytime you reset the phone you will have to follow this procedure, but at least the phone will work. I am thankful that I came up with this idea because it saved me from having to buy a new phone. I believe the problem is that the outside switch is not fully catching the inside one, which is why the sim isn't being detected. Hopefully this resolves everyone's problems, because it sure worked for me! Let me know if you have any more problems.
Wow no responses? After all the problems people were having with sim detection? Please post feedback because I was curious if this worked for others as well. Thanks.
id help u out but i had 2 tilts and just fixed this problem of mine today, i just changed the part of the phone with the sim card holder on it and it works perfect.
Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have had an AT&T Tilt for about 6 months with this problem, i just read your post today and that totally fixed my problem, thank you so much!!!!!! Although in the down time of the one Tilt I purchased another one from a friend, oh well now i have two working Tilts, thanks again!!!
worked for me
i just have a small square of cardboard stuck to my sim, then the door pushes the sim against the contacts, but same idea as yours really. but this problem started for me when i replaced a smashed screen so i had assumed i shifted everything a little in the process of putting it back together.
works
i tried your method and that better than holding that door, thanks for the suggestion!!!
Glad to hear it has worked for you guys.
Lifesaver
Flashed a buddy's phone tonight. Spent three hours trying to get his phone to read his SIM. Found this thread and your advice worked like a charm. Thanks
No problem. Glad to help. I just wanted to help all the people who were having this problem so they didn't have to deal with what I had to deal with and be without their phone for 2 weeks!
Fantastic this Worked!!!!
This worked straight away. You ought to be congratulated. Ingenious. All these other threads I checked couldn’t find the solution. They talked of dry magnetic head spray cleaner, deoxidizing boards, flashing the phone etc. With some saying success after a few goes. Its kind of funny that what might have been happening for them, is that constant opening & closing the simm card cover in their processes probably inadvertently fixed prob by pushing switch in enough. Whereas your solution goes straight to the problem & solves it. Hilarious. Thanks Heaps Tilt Fanatic. Nice to have my TYTN II back up.

HTC TILT Sim is missing

Hey guys i have had a HTC TILT for a while. I stopped using it a while ago, but i tried recently and i did the HARD SPL installed a 6.5 rom did the radio as well, but i'm getting a "sim is missing" error, with any sim that i try. Are there any fixes to this? I'm confused, thank you
No offence, but, are you sure you're inserting the SIM correctly? I spent half an hour trying to figure that one out on a late night... .
If not that, then check the contacts are in the correct position and free from any dirt/grime.

I inserted the right way. This issue was happning even before i did the hard spl. But the phone didn't have this issue until like a year of not using it. I tried googling stuff i see many people had this issue too but i cant find the answer.
I had the same problem and had to replace the main flex cable which ran me about $30 on ebay. Everytime you slide open your phone the flex cable gets worn down and this can cause other problems such as it not reading your memory card and white screen of death.
But before you do anything see if applying more pressure on the sim card by putting a thin piece of paepr between the sim card and locking dor. I heard that this can fix it if it's a minor problem. Good luck man.
Being the phone unused for one year, maybe the sim bay's contacts gets oxidated?
Buy a dry contact cleaner in an electronics-store (sometimes you can get it at hardware too) but be sure it's the DRY type
Turn off the phone, pull off the battery and spray contact cleaner in the sim bay
Leave it evaporate (the greasy one doesn't evaporate... :-( )
Restart phone and check if solved....

TyTn II woes

Hi All,
I've got a tytn 2 (kaiser) and its having some problems. Basically the keyboard is stuffing up (again) and it won't read SD cards. I've changed sd cards etc etc and still no joy. What I'm wondering is if there are parts that I can buy to fix this problem? I know I can buy a keyboard but can I dismantle the phone to fix the card reader side of things?
Its worth noting that I have also tried to reflash the phone from the micro sd card, and at that stage the device cant even read from the SD card. This makes me think its an actual hardware failure.
Thanks,
Lewis
So nobody can help me? D:
I can't offer much help here, but this topic will have at least some info that might help you out.

More to the point:

Oh ok that helps. So where would I get parts for my kaiser? SD card reader etc.
Unfortunately I have no clue....
I would say check the threads about replacing the LCD panel, and the stores that have that, or the digitizer might have the LCM (Lower Control Module) that has the SD card slot
I've seen digitizers and housings -- but I'm afraid that for a lot of parts you'll have to buy an old Kaiser...
I have an LCM with a damaged flexi, the sd card slot should be fine, not sure how easy it would be to remove, or replace, it may be possible to do this if you have access to professional desoldering tools, or know someone who can do this for you.
Yeah well I got the kaiser to pieces, not sure how to get it back together lol
I think this will be my last HTC device. Looking at how it is made, the phone is 40% screws and 60% glue. It makes sense that when the device would warm up sufficiently that the glue would go everywhere. It just seems shoddily built.
I'll attempt to put it back together for one last boot to get my contacts etc however i'm not that hopeful. I think I'll be jumping to the nokia n900.

Sim-card and SD-card undetectable

Hi all,
Something weird is going on with my 2 yr-old tytn 2.
I changed my rom about a year ago, for windows 6.1. Since then i never changed anything anymore.
All of a sudden the phone said there was no sim-card in the phone.
I didn't open the sim-card holder or anything.
So, i took out the sim card, and inserted it again after cleaning it.
Nothing. Tried it a few times, and one time it worked for 5 minutes, and then again nothing.
Yesterday i wanted to use tomtom, and i found out the phone doesnt recognize my CD-card either..
That's why I think I have some kind of virus instead of a hardware problem,
Any solutions?
If necessary, i would like to do a hard reset, and install windows 6.5.. but where to find?
Thx in advance
Have you tryed a hard-reset?
Rule out virus as there are so few for PPC and the ones that have don't effect the system.
Sorry to break it to you man but I had the same problem and it turned out that the main flex cable had gone bad. It only cost about $30 to get the part but you're kind of on your own as far as installation goes. Look on the wiki page and you should see some guides on how to take your Kaiser apart. Best wishes.
thx guys,
what's a main flex cable ?
can you post a link of the part maybe ?
Thx man,
I'm thinking bout maybe buyin a new smart phone.. we'll see !
thx !
