Hi all,
Something weird is going on with my 2 yr-old tytn 2.
I changed my rom about a year ago, for windows 6.1. Since then i never changed anything anymore.
All of a sudden the phone said there was no sim-card in the phone.
I didn't open the sim-card holder or anything.
So, i took out the sim card, and inserted it again after cleaning it.
Nothing. Tried it a few times, and one time it worked for 5 minutes, and then again nothing.
Yesterday i wanted to use tomtom, and i found out the phone doesnt recognize my CD-card either..
That's why I think I have some kind of virus instead of a hardware problem,
Any solutions?
If necessary, i would like to do a hard reset, and install windows 6.5.. but where to find?
Thx in advance
Have you tryed a hard-reset?
Rule out virus as there are so few for PPC and the ones that have don't effect the system.
Sorry to break it to you man but I had the same problem and it turned out that the main flex cable had gone bad. It only cost about $30 to get the part but you're kind of on your own as far as installation goes. Look on the wiki page and you should see some guides on how to take your Kaiser apart. Best wishes.
thx guys,
what's a main flex cable ?
can you post a link of the part maybe ?
Thx man,
I'm thinking bout maybe buyin a new smart phone.. we'll see !
thx !

can i try install new rom by sd?
is impossible restore my kaiser?
Well I would say that if you have the OEM (factory) ROM on the phone and a hard reset isn't fixing it, then you have a bad port. Send it back in. Now if you have a cooked ROM then yeah just look in the wiki and it will tell you how to flash from the SD.. Sounds like a bad port so far.

let me know if you find out the same...my phone wont charge either, wont connect through USB. if i can't install a new rom through SD i'm screwed
If it wont charge when switched off it sounds like the usb port has gone. £25 in the UK for replacement.....had mine changed last week !!
I've had to have my phone warrantied twice because of this problem.
I'm nearing the end of warranty.
I wonder where and and at what cost to fix that in the U.S. I'm presuming this phone is pretty much doomed given how often I see this, and have experienced it.
I love the phone, and hate the quality. I've had it replace 2 other times for other reasons too, for 4 replacements. I handle it with kid gloves to try to be sure that I don't cause any problems.
Hi all,
I searched everywhere here but could not fnd any suitable answer...
Here's my problem:
My brand new Touch Diamond regularly shuts off, I mean it powers itself off on its own after three to four days of use, even if the battery is fully loaded...
After that, most of the times, I have to take the battery out then replace it, otherwise it won't start. Sometimes, a soft reset would do the trick.
A great lack of reliability, since you actually don't know when you phone has powered off... I let you iamgine how many missed calls I've been through...
Any suggestion, I mean except for a hard reset ? Faulty battery? WM 6.1 malfunction?
I have no running apps in the background, it is not plugged to USB or anything. It just cuts power and stays like that...
Thanks for any input,
Cheers from South of France!
I can't help you but i have the same problem sometimes. It just turns off and won't turn on by pressing the power button again. To get back to normal i also have to take out the battery!
BTW that phone is pretty buggy anyway. i really hope there is gonna be an update by htc real soon.
I seem to have the same problem. Has anyone of you found a solution or course?
I have to do a battery pull to restart the mda compact 4. It happens 10 times a day.
BTW: I have a T-Mobile MDA compact IV

Hi, Hakim Rahman,
You´re wrong. There is no solution for this problem. I´m searching almost 2 years for help. My touch diamond was in guarantee when the problem appears. I returned the phone back, but the guys from the service said, the phone have been wet, although it was always dry in my pocket...
What should I say, HTC is the worst producer of pocket PCs, that´s all.
Actually I´ve already tried another ROMs...
problem seems to be solved
I have done a HARD reset on the phone 4 days ago. It seems to be stable now.
I had a Manilla skin installed as well as a prog that used the built-in gyroscope. Perhaps those were unstable...
Now they have been erased and the phone is back into its original configuration.

I think the mistake lies in yourself the less really understand the problems on the device....
Ok guys I had been without my phone for about 2 weeks due to it not detecting the sim card. After replacing the sim card, as well as the slot and many other parts, I thought the only remedy to fix my phone was by replacing the main board. Through research and having the additional sim slot by my side, I came up with a great idea that finally worked! This is what I did. First, open the sim slot door and locate a tiny black switch, this is the one that is controlled by the switch on the outside. Push it up all the way and power up the phone. Hold press firmly on the sim card against the phone, with the outside door open. Wait for the phone to boot up and the green light to flash, which means it is getting a signal, then you can release your grip and close the door by locking it. Everytime you reset the phone you will have to follow this procedure, but at least the phone will work. I am thankful that I came up with this idea because it saved me from having to buy a new phone. I believe the problem is that the outside switch is not fully catching the inside one, which is why the sim isn't being detected. Hopefully this resolves everyone's problems, because it sure worked for me! Let me know if you have any more problems.
Wow no responses? After all the problems people were having with sim detection? Please post feedback because I was curious if this worked for others as well. Thanks.
id help u out but i had 2 tilts and just fixed this problem of mine today, i just changed the part of the phone with the sim card holder on it and it works perfect.
Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have had an AT&T Tilt for about 6 months with this problem, i just read your post today and that totally fixed my problem, thank you so much!!!!!! Although in the down time of the one Tilt I purchased another one from a friend, oh well now i have two working Tilts, thanks again!!!
worked for me
i just have a small square of cardboard stuck to my sim, then the door pushes the sim against the contacts, but same idea as yours really. but this problem started for me when i replaced a smashed screen so i had assumed i shifted everything a little in the process of putting it back together.
works
i tried your method and that better than holding that door, thanks for the suggestion!!!
Glad to hear it has worked for you guys.

Flashed a buddy's phone tonight. Spent three hours trying to get his phone to read his SIM. Found this thread and your advice worked like a charm. Thanks
No problem. Glad to help. I just wanted to help all the people who were having this problem so they didn't have to deal with what I had to deal with and be without their phone for 2 weeks!
Fantastic this Worked!!!!
This worked straight away. You ought to be congratulated. Ingenious. All these other threads I checked couldn’t find the solution. They talked of dry magnetic head spray cleaner, deoxidizing boards, flashing the phone etc. With some saying success after a few goes. Its kind of funny that what might have been happening for them, is that constant opening & closing the simm card cover in their processes probably inadvertently fixed prob by pushing switch in enough. Whereas your solution goes straight to the problem & solves it. Hilarious. Thanks Heaps Tilt Fanatic. Nice to have my TYTN II back up.

Thanks. Oh and no problem. Glad it worked for you. Just thought I'd give back to the community so people didn't have to deal with the pain I went through.
hi guys..i'.m having the same problem...i wonder how u guys do it bcoz when i turned on the phone (while the simdoor is open) the error msg appear "simdoor is unlocked.please locked it. the device will automatically turned off in 10 sec". anyway after I locked the simdoor, the error msg still appear so now my htc got 2 prob. 1 is not detecting sim, another is the simdoor unlocked error msg (even if i already locked it).. hope u guys can help me on this...thank in advance..
hi guys,
i got HTC tytnII/kaisser over a year ago,
and now i got this problem "sim card is missing",
i tried to put some paper and it didnt work,
try anything in this forum and it didnt work...
almost frustrated and thinking of put it on a cupboard.
anyone have another solution?
thank you
Hey guys, this is my first post, I'm glad to be a part of this community.
3 days ago, while surfing the web, my phone stopped responding. After restarting it, the touch screen stopped working with the phone flipped in landscape mode. In normal mode it was working fine. After one day the touch screen wasn't responding fine even in normal mode, I would have to perform screen alignment a few times a day for it to respond correctly. In addition to that, now the screen won't even change to landscape mode when I flip the phone, it just freezes. I don't have warranty, I have the latest software version from SE installed. Clear storage didn't help. Got any ideas? Do you think it might be a hardware problem or software?
Thank you for reading this!
PS: I've just reinstalled the latest software from SE and still the same
nat'
Welcome, bro, but sorry to hear about your problem.
Did you make any tweaks to the registry or anything? If not, I fear this is a hardware problem. You could try installing the X1 softtouch cab in my signature, because that maxes out the screen sensitivity, but I'm not optimistic.
Let us know.
This is definately a hardware problem, if your under warrenty send it in asap, other wise browse this forum 4 other cases
might be ribbon problem
anyway I would second it's hardware related
Thanks allot for the quick answers. After reinstalling the entire software again, I'm also pretty sure it a hardware issue. I'm gonna look into that ribbon thread. If I don't solve anything I guess I'll just have to take it to a service. :|
Hello, sad to hear about ur problem.
There has also occured a similar problem to me, but way more harder problem.
I read about the ribbon thing, and looked into it a bit more. How to open the whole phone and check the ribbon cable, also named flex cable if I am correct.
The cable were cut in half.. At the moment I am trying to find a store of where to buy one, I found a site from Sweden, cause that's where I am from but the price is not that cheap, around 600sek=85 dollars.
Does any1 know a site where I can find a cheaper one?
If not, I guess I have to buy this cable..
Edit:
I found another site, ebay. Way more cheaper than the previous site I gave.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/for-Sony-Eric...ries_MobilePhoneBatteries?hash=item563a472301
Sorry dont use the link above, out of sale..
Edit:
However, if the problem is the ribbon cable.. Go into ebay and search for Xperia ribbon cable.
You will find way more lower prices.

Yup.
HI,
My HD7 keeps resetting itself at random times and its driving me insane. I have tried different apps to see if its that and no joy, new case to stop the chance of overheating its happened about 20 times in the last 4 months. My question is would replacing the motherboard help and if so where would I learn how to do this? I have changed the screen already so I would be willing to take it apart.
Thanks
It's absolutely a possibility that it could be due to a faulty hardware issue. The problem is that there are many reasons that can cause the device to randomly reboot.
Anything from -
Software - apps/XAP's, tweaks, registry changes, WiFi, OS version and radio version
Hardware - Faulty motherboard, SD card, worn parts and broken/damaged soldering joints.
Was the problem with the device rebooting present before or after you changed the screen? If the problem wasn't present until after you changed the screen then it's possible that there is a bad connection of some sort in the device.
Also what OS version is the device on and are you running a custom rom on it?
The actually disassembly shouldn't be much different from when you replaced the screen other than you have to separate the motherboard.
If you've exhausted all other possibilities and are pretty sure it's the motherboard and want to change it take a look a this thread and there is another external link in the thread too -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1585872
Here's a video that will give you an idea on the disassembly -

Ok thanks, so I had the phone from new, unlocked but using the 3 network. It started before I had even dropped the screen and put a custom rom in it, I was in a very hot country when it started so it might be slight heat damage. I have looked at the links and have now added them to my favourites. Although there is no direct link to a complete ribbon breakdown I am sure I can do it. Thank you for your help and once I have tried all aspects I will report back thanks.
Like me
I used the phone without the SIM card, no reboots or locks and reboots.
I'm using SIMs from a carriers using 850MHZ and 900MHZ all gave me reboots and locks, before the "solution" I used a 1900MHZ SIM with no problems (??? weird!!!)
Since the solution, I use my SIM without problem,
What I did:
1- Take the SD card and format it with sector check (long format) to see if there's a problem there, also give me manufacturer, capacity and class, if the card has it. Mine is a Sandisk 16GB Class 4
2- Raise a little the antenna connectors (2 copper fins near the sd card), BEWARE!!! they are FRAGILE!! if you break them (like me), you'll have to get some copper fins and use soldering iron (like me).
Believe me, I'm using my HD7 with no problem since then...
any question, here I am...
I have the sam reset problem but in one way. Yust if i use a Data connection to go on web. After random time, my HD7 start to restart itself. No warming or something else (mean overheat) of a phone.
What it could be? I am desperated
P.S. Problem starts when i am bricked my phone and went to "service" to do a JTAG flashing of it.
At first time after JTAG my phone warming up at a bottom of a phone (where an sd card settled and antena) ans start to reboot after Data connection enabled. After my complain to service they opened them again and told me there are all clean inside and after that my HD7 not wrming up but stil random reset after Data connection on web (HSPA+).
Any advice please or to throw my HD7 in garbage .
thx
