anyone know if its possible and if so what program/app i need to watch avi movies that i stored n my sd card? when i had the vouge i used tcmp, a great program that played anything i ran on it.
Is there any programs similar to this?
thank you.
search "avi" on the market. I just did, about 5-8 apps popped about but they're all low rated. You can try to convert the avi movies to another format.
tcmp or dviplayer can be used... a search can help you to find one
Try this out...
I used this software converting a few movies and it worked great. Just download Video Player in the market and it will find the videos on your SD card. It may even play avi, but I just convert everything to H264

I have tried transfering a few .avi files over to the tilt and when i try to play them back through TCPMP, the sound works fine, but the video only works for maybe 5-10 seconds, then it freezes on one frame for the rest of the time...WTF!! is the Tilt not capable of playing .avi videos??? does this have to do with the video driver issue?? if anyone knows how i could play avi files on the tilt, please let me know thanks

I have plenty of videos that play just fine. Make sure you encode them in proper screen size. I have all my videos encoded in 320x240.
how big are the files? i tried to copy huge .avi, mpeg, etc. file in around 500mb range and same thing would happen. If i compress the files it would play especially in another format. usually converting to windows media player works fine. i normally convert mines to .3gp. takes up way less space and looks fine on the cell phone.
See here for lots of info on getting your videos playing perfectly.
use super c,make sure you got the right resolution, format, codec, bitrate and use tcpmp or coreplayer instead of wmp
So I used handbrake to convert a video to an m4vfile will this work I dropped on my sd and go to play I just dont see it I can here it. What is the the procedure to view a movie on the n1?
drop it in a folder, then you can go to the gallary and find that folder and watch it.
The better way though is to download Video Player from the market. All it is an app which searches your sd card for video files and then lists the file names.
Is mv4 a working format for the N1?

im not sure, but i think google can help you out with that
I know mp4s work and .h264 is the codec you really should be using
m4v with x264 or MPEG-4 ASP (with DX50 Fourcc, not XVID) works perfectly.
Has anyone been able to get videos working? ive tried a bunch of different videos and a bunch of different players. Ive heard Act 1 is the best but i cant get it to play an avi file. any ideas? thanks in advance
RockPlayer is awesome. It plays movies I've encoded using Handbrake's iPod Touch preset almost perfectly.
I downloaded RockPlayer through the SlideME marketplace app, which is itself available to download at slideme.org.
I got RockPlayer working for local files, but what about streaming mp4 from the browser? I can't seem to get that to work. Any ideas?
I've had luck with VLC stream & Convert to play movies off my network.
Rock Player audio is out of sync for me regardless of video format. But I've had luck with the program here;

It's dead simple and worked pretty quick. After converting the file, it played nicely in the stock movie player on the Nook. I've only converted and tested 1 show so far so your mileage may vary.
I used RockPlayer to view some of my video files, but keeping a lot on my SD card isn't feasible. I have had some success using AndroStream to stream my .avi files over wifi. See the following thread for directions:

hello everyone. i have just bought the nook colors and i have some question.
like i can see the nook have a problem for read vidéos, why? what is the answer to this problem? the problem can be solved?
thanks
What app are you using to watch videos and what format are the videos in? I found using Handbrake to convert videos to mp4 or mv4, iPod Touch format, works wonderfully with the stock reader.

I Try to Watch vidéo in mpeg4 ( divx ) format or mkv, Why it doesnt work?
what program are you trying to view it with, The only programs that can watch mkv are rock player and 1 other i cant remember what its called. To watch an mkv you need to make sure it is 480p otherwise it will studder out on the device
If you are trying to use the default software it will not work because it doesnt know how to read the mkv package
which program i need to use for watch avi vidéo ?
RockPlayer will also play avi files, but some people have reported some problems with the quality, like audio-video out of sync or stuttering.
It may be worthwhile to simply convert to video to mp4 using handbrake (the latest beta build works) and playing it with the built in player (simply called Video, I believe)
yes i heard something about the ’OMAP3621 who can managing the encoding, but this function is locked
I downloaded vplayer beta on my Evo and it works great. Tried it on the nook and it doesnt work. Anyone get anything done???
I used Zimly to get around this on my HTC. Just tried it and it does not work with wma files.
I have used mcebuddy to transcode mediacenter tv programs to generic mp4. it works with the nook stock player, but not zimly...

Sent from my Nook Color using XDA
I have successfully played .wmv with yxplayer. It's not free however.
yx has very mixed reviews... how is it on your nc?
Sent from my NC using XDA app
It works ok. But I only have 1 wmv file.
just tried winamp... that didn't work either, though at least it could read the tags. yx has such terrible reviews that I don't want to go there.
RockPlayer
The best media player I have found to run on my Nook Color is the RockPlayer. I have not tried .WMA or .WMV files on it but it is very good with .AVI, etc.
A brief description of a recent release, that I found on the web, reads as follows:
"RockPlayer is a powerfull media player for android phones, it offers support for a wide range of video formats which includes AVI, MKV, RMVB, MP4, FLV, 3GP, MOV, WMV, ASF, RV40, DivX, Xvid, and H.264."
I believe I downloaded my copy from The Android Market.
Rock player works for many different formats. I have played .avi files perfectly almost as good as my home dvd player. However .wmv didnt work correctly. I redownloaded Vplayer it seems they did a little tweaking and I played 2 .wmv files that were email attachments that i downloaded to the nook perfectly....
