Usually mac's will automatically decompress zip files for you. I had this problem when downloading roms from a mac, so I did this:
http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=733612
and it kept the zip file intact.
ya its decompressing the files on the download. maybe thats the problem. i will try it now thanks man
it worked man thanks a bunch!!!

next time if you have a question, post in the Q&A forum instead of the dev forum.
unlockroot release new Version, 2.3. Finally root Core GRJ22
anyone tried?
LGE LG-P970 2.3.4 GRJ22
http://www.unlockroot.com/unlockroot.php
download:
http://www.unlockroot.com/index.htm
That's not really new... And as far as i know it's been tried and nada.. Doesn't work. If you look at the development data they only added ICS device support. So that doesn't concern our OB. The only working method yet is the one that SnegovikRZN posted.
LGE LG-P970 2.3.4 with Build-Nr.: GRJ22 (v20n) works for me. I had tried it many times, but it doesn´t work. Then I have bricked my phone for a week, and i must flash my phone with smartflash and LG Software Updater updated my rom to v20n. That was my fault. At this time, i had a not rooted phone and i don´t tried it for a week to root it. Then i saw this post and i tried and it works. Nothing changed on the Laptop or the drivers. I was surprised that it works. Sorry for my bad english.
Kill adb server
Starting adb server...
Get online devices
Not find online device, please enable USB debugging!
Kill adb server
Starting adb server...
Get online devices
Try LGE shell rooting...
push file to device : rootutility
chmod file 755 rootutility
Restarting debug mode...
Waiting for debug mode...
chmod file 777 /data/local/tmp
push file to device : busybox
push file to device : su
chmod file 755 busybox
push file to device : Superuser.apk
Rooting, please wait...
Root Succeed!
Root finished!

Kill adb server
Starting adb server...
Get online devices
Not find online device, please enable USB debugging!
Kill adb server
Starting adb server...
Get online devices
Try LGE shell rooting...
=>
failed to get shell root.
I tried it, because on the Website from unlockroot i read that the 2.3.4 with GRJ22 were Supported and i give a try. it Works for me on v20n with GRJ22, i dont know if this Works for v20b. my lg is full rooted and titanium Backup ist working, cwm working and so i was able to Flash the Zeus Rom.
on v20n GRJ22 IT Works, other Roms i dont know.
sorry for my Bad englisch

If there are others with stock unrooted firmware they should try it in order to see if this is a general fix.. for v20n at least..

As i said as far as i know root works with a little bunch. The majority can't root. But i posted a question at SnegovikRZN's thread. If and when i get a positive feedback, i'll try it on our v20a rom.

"Hi fellas. Another quick question. Is the phone should be rooted before this procedure or can i do it with an unrooted stock rom?
The reason i am asking; i accidently made a recovery boot to my phone without cwm and back to square one. So before using this method. I'd like to install our stock v20a rom and try to root it. If fails then i am gonna use v20b or v20n. So what do you say?"
I posted this. There hasn't been anny replies yet. Btw this is for the method in here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1480392
I really need help here, my phone is basically broken now. After editing boot.prop and rebooting, my phone can only go into recovery. I am using 4.1.2. I have managed to adb pull and edit it however when trying to push it says read only area. When going into adb shell and su it somehow becomes device not found. Please help me.

I think it would be easier if you mentioned what you are working on, since "something" closes off any chance other's have of making suggestions.
Do you know how to decompile/recompile a Sony kernel?

You mean you want to make a way for rooting Xperia devices with a locked bootloader? Or unlocked bootloader?
Edit:
About incorporating a recovery in your kernel, I have a general idea, but I wouldn't know about that (google it, I guess). About decompiling/recompiling a kernel, you could also probably find a better tutorial by searching through the forums or google, but if you have a linux environment (ubuntu, in my case) you can do this:
1.- Open a terminal and run (unless you already have 7zip installed):
Code:
sudo apt-get install p7zip-full
2.- Use this to decompile your kernel. You can also unpack/repack the ramdisk, which is where the recovery is held.
What I would do (and already did, just for kicks) is copy how another stock kernel with recovery is structured, only I used the recovery from an FXP kernel, and the RPM.bin and cmdline.txt from the previosly mentioned stock kernel to recompile.
I'm on KitKat right now, so I haven't tested it actually will boot, but it compiled fine. Maybe this helps you in whatever you're trying to do. As a reminder, this would only work on an unlocked bootloader.

yes, but you can download old versions online. some old versions are way too old for lollipop. try flashing the one in the link i provided. download it via your phone, boot into recovery after its downloaded, then flash it and reboot
Thanks brother

CM has root disabled by default I believe. If you download the SuperSU app when you're not rooted, you cannot install the binaries because the binaries go in /system which needs root to modify and its the binaries that make root possible. Kind of a catch ²²
When you flash the binaries from recovery to /system, you don't need root because root is only applicable to android, which isn't running when you're in recovery.
Hope this helps
