Bluetooth headset sound quality adjustment? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

I could have sworn I saw and changed a setting somewhere for bluetooth headset sound quality on my Diamond, I thought it was in Advanced Configuration Tool, and I thought the choices were like low, medium, or high; but the only thing I can find now is sample rate 44k or 48.1k. Did I imagine that? Where the hell is it? I am getting nowhere with searching in here.

They are still in Advanced Config.
Bluetooth|Minimum supported bitpool, Bluetooth|Maximum supported bitpool, Bluetooth|Bitpool

Thanks but I thought I had seen a simple low medium high setting?

Bluetooth headset volume

Is it possible to increase the volume when you are using an bluetooth headset or bluetooth handfree ???
I find mine is not high enough, i'm sure there is something to do about this .
Thanks for thr help
I think so
I had the same problem. I ran the tweaks that Chainfire put together. There is one in there from a Chinese site deals with the BT pool settings. I tried it and it works fine. Here is the link to the tweaks. Good luck!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=333898&highlight=BT+Volume
I've done the BitPool tweak and I'm not sure it's made much of a difference.
The crackling interference has diminished but the low volume is still apparent.
I was only given the choice of High (Def/ADV) or Low BitPool by Kaiser Tweak. The Medium option is there but defaults to Low when selected.
I'll try it tommorow ...
But I thought about a reg patch or something like this ...

HTC AUDIO BOOSTER found - Can someone make it work?

Well, we found Audio Booster, which is a system-wide equalizer. (See thread below, with link)
But we can't get it to work.
Can someone play with this and figure out what registry (?) settings to change to get it to "stick"? would be much appreciated!

This was the original post:
While we love this beast, it still has a pretty tinny sound from its speakers. Coming from a Samsung i730 with stereo speakers and SRS sound-enchancement, the Kaiser is kind of lame.
Anyone have ideas about system-wide equalizer or how to get a SRS-like software that can boost the sound quality?
bump? I saw the HTC Equalizer, but that is only if you have headphones plugged in. Any system wide equalizer to make the sound richer?
Yeah, I've been searching for something like that too. Kaiser's speaker have too much treble. There are some mp3, which are live or acoustic, that have some background noise, but nothing too perceptible.. I tried playing them, and Kaiser actually boosted the noise.

search in this great forum for htc audio booster its on of the new ones that were extracted it changes the htc audio skin but I have the that solution posted. im not sure if its working correct though it seems the settings aren't sticking might have to ask juvs I think he tested it.
searched for "htc audio booster" and "audio booster" in the Kaiser forums and come up with nothing except this thread. can someone point us in the right direction?
Couldn't find either..
In fact I'm not really sure if he understood what we were asking..

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=344533 post 1---- also if you go to google and type in xda-developers.com audio booster it was the 5th site
I installed this HTC Audio Booster but it doesn't seem to be working. Settings just won't stick, as you say. Also, Audio Manager gets really ugly ..
Same here, settings in Audio Booster dont seem to change anything (on Tilt)...is there a fix for this?
If the problem is related to ringtones, I just found a pretty easy way :
Opened the ringtone in a decent audio editor, and maximize volume level.
Now, it's hearable even from its pouch
Like everyone else, Audio Booster SEEMS to be the ticket, but can't turn in on (can't check "Equalizer")
Anyone know who on the forum could take a look at this and see if there is an easy tweak to make it work?

The problem is not the volume.. it's the equalization of the sound.. Kaiser's speaker have too much treble, it distorces the sound. At least when I try to hear a song, there's so much treble that it makes a choppy ugly noise. It's bass needs a boost.. or at least lower the treble so we can have it equalized. It's also a pain when you're talking to someone with a thin voice like my girlfriend.
I changed the title of this thread with the hopes that someone can figure this out. I am kind of surprised that so few are frustrated with the sound of the speakers.
I am interested too for making HTC Audio Booster and equalizer working!!!!
I have read somewhere that there is a missing dll file, but noone seems to know which one. Hopefully this helps in figuring this out! Thanks. Waiting patiently!
thank you

thank you finally some people agree!!!!!!!!!!! Im coming from a wizard and am dissappointed. I've posted the skin solution in another thread now we just need THE solution. I've been in and out the registry and the problem very well might be a .dll has anyone pm JUVS or Patr!k????
I too would be glad if somebody knew a solution.
I have a trinity and the sound is not bad, but when I connect it to my car stereo through my cradle, the sound has no bass at all. Will try the equalizer, don't know if that would even work. Need a solution!!
I guess I just need more power from the headphone jack...don't know...
I have been messing with my trinity and TLPMP is the best solution so far, by setting the equalizer to increase bass. It is not perfect but at least I can play music without my hears hurting.

[Q] Best results for A2DP and Diamond Tweak ?

Hi, all,
I have searched everywhere but only found solutions for other units/phones. I am aware of the appaling sound quality produced by A2DP (stereo bluetooth) on our beloved Diamond... Actually, HTC is not responsibe per se, since it looks that MS Bluetooth stack is the source of the problem.
I am used to listening to my music in A2DP, but quite frankly, listenning to the music in my Jabra BT-8010 and the Diamond is too painful for me... These horrible high pitched noises in the background are absolutely appaling.
I would like to know if there was any solution to tweak the Diamond and get better results. I know that Diamond Tweak could be used to arrange things, but I don't know how to do it yet.
Otherwise, I'll use my wired headset provided with the phone, but that's a pain too for someone like me who has abandoned wires for bluetooth since so long !
Any help would be greatly appreciated !
Cheers from south of France!
I know this problem. I was actually fighting with it for week and i've managed to get very decent audio quality.
That's what i've done:
1. Using advanced config in Bluetooth: audiogateway - on and powersaving for it on as well; bitpool - very high.
2. Install SRS WOW (absolute must have for music quality). My settings for my headphones:
Mode: headphones; SRS 3D effect - 60%; Center effect - 30%; Focus Level - 20%; Definition Level - 20%; TruBass Level - 100%; TruBass speaker Size - 60Hz; Input and Output Gain - 2% each.
3. Install DiamondTweak 0.5 and in volume control set:
Audio Booster - enabled
100db Sound Limitation - disabled
(after every soft reset those values go back to normal and you need to set them again, small price for excellent sound, there is also script on forum that set those regs everytime phone boots)
3. Play music go to Audiobooster and set high values for bass and quite high for treble.
And music sounds really good.
Thanks !
I'll give a try (actually doing it right now, phone is rebooting).
Well, what can i say, the end result is just a tad better, but I still hear these high pitched noises... On rock music, it's still awful. Much better with wired headsets...
I'll try with SRS WOW.
Thanks again !
Remember ab soft reset after installing srs wow (there is special version for diamond somewhere on this forum). ANd switching back AudioBooster after softreset.
If you'll still have problem try editing Input and Output Gain in srs wow. And make sure you chose headphones mode (not speakers). hOPE YOU'LL ENJOY IT.
Exactly the same problem
Hello,
I have exactly the same problem - using Sony Ericsson MBS-100 loudspeaker.
I'm not a music freak and i dont expect HiFi quality,
but what I can heart are "horrible high pitched noises in the background"
and generally to MUCH treble - so much that my ears hurts after a while
Tryid this loudspeaker with OLD Sony Ercsson mobile - no more background noise, no more trebles..
So my stupid question
Teeps:
" 1. Using advanced config in Bluetooth: audiogateway - on and powersaving for it on as well; bitpool - very high."
I cant find "advanced config" in Bluetooth ?? Thank you for your answer..

Thanks for answer.
I must say its a little bit better with SRS WOW
(best settings for me just WOW Bass),
but Im disapointed, that was not my vision (such a low quality A2DP)
when I bought my Diamond..
Maybe new ROM with new drivers could help?

At these settings can I Bluetooht NOT start :-(
My settings, which is fine for me:
Bitpool at medium, min 20 max 70 works fine.
Audiogateway on. JoinStereo on
What really helps
Schap's Advanced Config - HTC Audio Booster: Trebble - LOW
Bass Medium. 3D off (but not tested).
That really(!!) works for me even without SRS WOW, almost no hight freq. noises.

Thanks mate for your input.
Tried your settings, but I am still not lucky... Sound quality is about the same... I'm desperate... and very much afraid
SOme people on other forums tell me they have no issue with sound quality regarding the A2DP... I guess I'll have to try with another headet.

[Q] ADC audio capture recording level and aliasing

Hi there
last week I got a new Samsung Galaxy S GT I-9000, and although I am generally happy with it, I am very disappointed with the ADC recording quality.
As others, I noticed it after asking a friend to film me playing at a gig, and the audio was completely unuseable.
After digging around and some experiments I found so far 2 serious issues:
1 - As others pointed out, the microphone input level seems to be unadjustable. I have digged around in the hidden menus, where I could find a way to adjust the input level for speech calls but not for audio recording.
(Audio -> Handset ->I2S1 Rx Gain, although I am not sure if the signal clips before or after that point when doing audio recording ).
2 - This is an issue I have not seen documented anywhere: no matter what application I use, I am not able to record at any higher sampling rate than 22.050kHz. This is with both handset and headset microphone. But what is probably worse, is that the signal is not (or not very well) low pass filtered (antialised) before being downsampled!! I tried recording a frequency sweep from 0 to 16kHz, and the first 8kHz (11025 Hz inn 22050 Hz sampling rate mode) were Ok, the next 8kHz (11025Hz) where aliased like hell. Try record a 10 khz and a 12 kHz tone at 11khz adc rate and you will get a 10khz back in both cases, almost at the same amplitude ! Not sure why I can't acces 48kHz, as I read somewhere that the audio chipset should support that.
Anyone know if there is a fix for either?
Just uploaded the recorded sample for reference.
This was a 100Hz to 16kHz frequency sweep of 30 seconds.
The test setting was far from ideal (just played it out on my PC) but it gives an indication. Note that aliasing is so bad that even harmonic distortion gets aliased, and it becomes really loud when all harmonics get imaged back to the same frequency by the aliasing process. If the situation is not fixed, there is no hope for high quality audio for the galaxy... Anyone knows if with 2.2 upgrade this will work?
Do HTC desire or wildfire have similar issues? I am seriously considering swapping before my 14 days trial runs out: no point in having HD video (main selling point of the phone) if the audio is close to unuseable (and I don't want to go to Apple just yet)
The voice quality on my Galaxy S is really bad. I've had several people say to me that on calls it's difficult to understand what I'm saying and that the sound is either muffled or distorted.
I tried some recordings with the voice recorder app and these two don't sound clear at all.
Could this be caused by the same thing you're mentioning, or do I have a problem with my phone?
How do other people find the call quality (that is, someone listening to you calling *from* your Galaxy.)?

I think this is related to the same bugs mentioned as the subject of this thread.
BTW, it looks like HTC desire has the same issue wrt video recording, so it might be an Android issue rather than a Samsung one...
You can find some additional details in the modaco forum, on thread samsung-galaxy-s-i9000-mic-sensitivity-recording.

After flashing the european firmware JM1 from Kies I am able to record at 44.1 kHz now!
Haven't checked aliasing yet.
I'm on JM2 and this is a topic that I would very much be interested in.

Same problem gggrrr
I recorded a friend of mine singing last night and the audio on the video is terrible and i mean really terrible, the picture is fine but the audio, nope.
I have heard that there is a way to load in a new kernal to be able to change the sensitivity of the mic but i'm not sure if that is the way to go or not, i just want to be able to record video that sounds good, please help.
Flash a kernel with voodoo sound. Then the audio quality will be amazing

I've used voodoo sound ever since I go this phone. You don't even have to flash a kernel anymore, supercurio's made it even easier, as long as you have root just go onto the market and buy Voodoo Control Plus and unlock the true audio capabilities of your Galaxy S
I started out with JPY and using Tape Machine I've been able to record just fine at 44100Hz. Same with JVB.
Thanks for that, i installed voodoo control plus, really easy to do, at a gig tonight so i will record and see what the sound is like on the video, thanks again

[Q] Low volume through headphones (common question, different approach..?)

So this is a really common problem and I see a lot of solutions to it on the forums, but none which seem to actually target the actual source of the problem. I have a pair of good to excellent quality monitor headphones, and the volume when using them is really, really low. I've other headphones too (normal earbuds) which are a little louder but nowhere near where they should be.
I've tried the recommended options (using EQ settings, compression and ramping up the EQ), and some Apps to boost volume, but these seem to be boosting gain in software which results in really bad distortion. My guess is that the hardware gain is limited somehow.
There's an Audio section in service mode (*#*#197328640#*#*) which supposedly allows you to change the default gain but on my phone there's no submenu, it just throws back to the original menu. (Could this have something to do with kernel version..?)
I've also heard that on some phones (or maybe kernel / rom versions?) there's a file like default_gain.conf or similar which allows you to change the settings, but there's nothing like that on mine, even after extensive searching.
I'm looking for a proper solution instead of a software gain booster approach as it just leaves audio distorted.. maybe someone with a little more knowledge of how Android handles sound would help..?
For the record, and just in case it's rom / kernel related, I'm using Paranoid Android 2.57.2-Utacka and kernel 3.0.15-cm.. (I thought I'd flashed Hydracore v7, maybe I have but it's not there in system settings).
It'd be really cool to solve this problem once and for all... so if anyone can even hint at a solution it'd be much appreciated..

try doing a factory reset and clear all cache memory to bring every thing to default.. if that doesn't get u the expected results then u have to use the software or apps to boost it.. if there is a serious problem then get the 3.5 mm jack replaced..
Actually.. I found multiple solutions that seem to work together.. first, I bought a small device (FiiO E3) which is basically a tiny battery powered headphone amp (it sucks in terms of volume boost, something like 3db, but does the trick..). .. then I found the *one* app that actually seems to work with my device, Voodoo Louder.. these in tandem seem to get the desired result, albeit I still have to enable Compression in the eq to get sound loud enough to hear over the noise of the busy street, but there's little distortion. I'd definately recommend the amp seeing as of the countless I've tried it's the only one that actually does the trick...
