Hello Gents!
Is there a way of forcing the IE & Opera to Landscape? It does not work with the German stock HTC-Rom. Also Opera allows just 2 tabs, which is awfull. Is there a way of allowing more, like 3 or 4?
Thanks and greetings,
Studebaker
Hi Studebaker,
for the tabs within Opera Mobile, just enter Opera:config in the adress field. Then go to section User Prefs and search for Maximum Allowed Tabs, there you enter your desired number of tabs.
In order of forcing the screen to rotate, just search for "change screen xda" in google and download the screen rotation application.
Best Regards
Mathias
Thanks Mathias, that helps! I thought that I saw Opera switching to landscape with the T-Mobile-Rom, strange that this does not work with the original HTC-Rom. Greetings, Studebaker
I have the original German ROM and Opera rotates very well, but just in one direction. You have to tilt the device counter clockwise.
That's indeed strange, but thanks for the info. Did you manage to make that happen with the IE also? Is there an entry in the g-sensor whitelist required for the two browsers? Greetings, Studebaker

For the original Opera there already is an entry in the whitelist. For the PIE or the new Opera 9.7 Beta you have to add entries to the whitelist by your own. The easiest way to do this is to use G-Config:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=487991
And yes, it works fine with the PIE.

When I read e-mail, the cursor automatically goes to the middle of the message instead of starting at the top. I can't find another comment on this.
I have the stock AT&T ROM (I know, lame), Kaiser Tweaks, and standard e-mail application.
Any ideas?

Had same problem myself.
Check out this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=351296
Maybe similar to your problem?
I am sure this never happened to mine before either.
EDIT: Just to test I backed up my phone and did a hard reset. Lo and behold it was fine without Kaiser Tweaks! Will let the guys know on their thread.
This is a side effect in the nav pad tweak that allows better scrolling in IE. Normally IE jumps from link to link and the tweak was created to allow right press to page down. The side effect is that messages open at the end instead of the beginning. So it depends on which function is most useful to you as to enable this tweak or not.

This is the solution! I disabled the nav pad scrolling in IE in the Kaiser Tweaks and soft reset. I use Opera Mini as my internet browser so I am not sure why I enabled it in the first place.
Thank you very much. I really appreciate it.
Opera n diamond has just 3 tabs. Whereas I installed the cab on TYTN II earlier and I used to get 4 min tabs and there was no restriction on the no. of tabs. Can anybody provide re-edit for the same or a solution to this
Thanks
Dinesh
I'm not sure which build you have, however I have a Tilt and the max is also 3 tabs. All b uilds have limited me to 3 tabs.

If you browse in Opera to opera:config and search for "tab" you will see a setting for max tabs. You can change the number there - I have mine set to 5.
Look at opera:config -> "UserPrefs" there you will find the max. Tab Option ;-)
Er how's that again?
I can't see this option, I'd like to increase the number of viewable tabs too. Hope it's OK to resurrect this old thread.
Many thanks

where you type the URL, type "about:config" without quotes...you will find a page full of options, there u will find the max number of tabs...
Right, got it now I didn't realise that was what was meant. Many thanks for your help Malik05.
I am using Wisbar Advance Desktop and I am making my own weather page. What I want to do is put a button at bottom of page that says "RADAR" and then when you click on the button I want it to automatically launch my browser and go to a website that I found where they have animated weather radars right on there homepage. I know how to make the buttons and all that stuff and how to link them up. I just don't know how to make a bookmark that will automatically launch when clicked on.
Also, is there a way to define which browser it uses. I have Opera 9.5 and Skyfire. In opera I have the box checked where it says use as default browser, so will it use Opera? I definitely don't want it to use dirty old PIE.
Thanks for any help you can give. I would really appreciate it.
HOnestly the best place to put this question would be in the Software section....also have you checked the Wisbar website.
I know when I used Wisbar before the forum section of their website was quite informative for these type of questions.
How do I disable screen rotation on my Touch Diamond, specifically when using Opera?
I've tried Gyrator 2 but to no avail.
Solution:
Not elegant but...
Change registry HKLM\Software\Opera\GSensor\IdleTime to a very large number like 1000000.
not 100% sure but try deleting the gsensor.lnk file in windows\startup folder
I saw in one of the threads that even the phone dialer screen rotates. This doesn't occur in my phone. Does this happen in your phones??

Not as standard - only Opera (and one other that I have forgot about) rotates. However if, like me, you use GSen then other apps (you can choose which) will rotate. My dialer screen rotates as does my TT6 for example.
Thanks!!
I read reviews on Gsen & Gyrator still having some teething problems in this same forum. I don't mind to wait further before things like these gets ironed out.
If you are aware of something that is error free so far, appreciate a lead.
Ive been looking for a solution for my IGO

But couldnt find one.
I see you managed to auto-rotate your tomtom.
is that possible with the iGo8?
I've tried adding that line in the gsen config but it still doesnt work.
I have had no problem with Gsen and it works fine for me. I can't answer if it works with Igo because I don't use it, but it works with TTN6. Having said that if I turn a corner sharply at the same time as hitting a bump it goes back to portrait for a few seconds.

just a guess, but are you browsing Opera / Photo Album whilst lying down in bed, perchance?
i'm having the same issue, it's really annoying, no idea why they couldn't have a settings menu to toggle auto / manual.

Yes. But sometimes it also happens if I am carrying it and accidently tilt it.
Solved.
Edited registry HKLM\Software\Opera\GSensor\IdleTime to a very large number like 1000000.
This auto rotating has been drving me mad. People all were suggesting gsen and other utilities but they all are awkward. In the end this simeple trick did it.
Like Apple was the first to get the touchscreen done right after 20 years of touchscreen history, Apple also did the auto-rotate right. With an iPhone/iPodTouch, it won't turn more than twice, so you can easily avoid unwanted rotation. Why Windows Mobile develops cannot figure out simple solutions like that?
Thanks for posting this fantastic workaround!
I saw this thread weeks ago but lost it and couldn't find it again despite my best efforts with the search function & google.
Here's a CAB for it (my 2nd ever!):
Thanks alot .d
just a little FYI - the cab doesn't work for me...the program (Opera) still auto rotates. I have tried the manual hack too.
Any more info?

Found the solution! I'm so happy. I'm done with this stupid automatic rotation:
The trick about HKLM\Software\Opera\GSensor\IdleTime need to be done but you also need to remove in HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\WhiteList
the opera value.
I did the same for google maps and it works perfectly
I don't know about the rest but for HTC HD it's VERY SIMPLE!
HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\AutoRotation = 0 (Default = 2)
My Problem was mostly with Dialer. No more screen rotation for me!

thanks mate it worked with my touch hd.
you just need to install it in the same location in which you have installed opera.
HD Mini - Opera 10 Mobile autorotate disabled [solved]
Thanks Davey101. Your cab file works well with the HTC HD Mini to disable the annoying autorotate feature in Opera Mobile 10.
How to make Opera the default browser for links?
TD2 will not open a new Opera tab when clicking a link (hyperlink/hypertext link) in another document (like an e-mail or sms)
So, how to fix it?
It is the TouchFlow 3D interface that prevents this. Use the bottom left softkey labeled 'All Messages' to get to the standard WM messages screen ..... then click on your link

Yes, but it still opens link at IE... not opera.
OK, do this then (I take it that you have already tried just going into Opera options and setting it to be the default browser)....
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\DEFBROWSER]
0=Opera Browser
1="\Windows\OperaL.exe"
2=dword:1
3=dword:0
That didn't work. My TD2 still opens IE...

Even after a soft reset.
But I solved a problem this way, at HKCR I changed the extensions that I wanted opera to open
ftp, htmlfile, http, https, htmlfile, urlfile
I went every one of those to shell\open\command\default
and changed iexplorer.exe to OperaL.exe
I don't know is that the best way to do it, but it seems to work.
Especially GoogleMaps is now usable.
