Field software for analysing - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Themes and Apps

Hi, i came accross some sofware for kaiser, i thought it was called Field engineer or field software but ive searched but cant find it now.
Basically it showed you signal strength, connection type how far from the cell you were and much much more.
anyone job my memory at tell me what its called? or where its from..
Thank you.

Actually I think its hidden mostly inside the WM software.
Have a search in the windows folder on your phone, if I remember correct there is a field test program.

oh is there something ther? ok cool, i have a look, i definatly saw something on a forum about it as well though.

Enable "Show All Files" in file explorer, go to \Windows\fieldtest.exe, and then you can tap and hold, copy it, then go to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\ and tap and hold, and select "Paste Shortcut", then you have a convenient shortcut to Field Test Mode. And usually, you can also enter *#*#364#*#* into the device's dialer, and it will enter field test mode.

Phone = AT&T Tilt.
I found out about this site from Mobilitytoday this morning and have literally sat here all day playing with the incredible, free and wickedly cool things these people are nice enough to share.
I installed the "Kaiser.HTC.Home.v2.0.720719.Schaps.Color" and cannot figure a few things out:
1. The brightness fix doesn't work. I get, "Access denied..." when copying the "HTCUti1.dll" file to the WINDOWS dir.
2. Is there a better battery indicator than "powertray_489"? I was looking for something that came with the new home screen but couldn't find it.
3. I have the "Kaiser Comm Manager(10 Buttons)" comm. manager installed but the WLAN button doesn't work. It just won't turn on. I tried installing the other comm. managers but they wouldn't install.
4. Is there a way to change from Celsius to Fahrenheitfor the weather portion of the application?
5. When I slide my screen into landscape mode, there is no scroll available at the bottom to see the other items. When it is in vertical mode, the scroll is there. Odd because when I installed the “Kaiser.HTC.Home.v2.0.720719.cab” (black and white version) the scroll was there?!
So there they are. This site is awesome and I’m addicted to it already! Any help would be deeply appreciated!
Here is a big hint for you start reading and use the search button! No one will spoon feed you here all your problems have been talked about a few times so they should be easy to find
However much I would like to help, austinsnyc already said what can not be disputed. Read, read, read... when you are finished, read some more.
Do not concentrate on just the Keiser area, read ALL threads. OS isn't phone specific all the time. A fix or tweak for one phone is good for alot of phones.
I'll give you one answer though...(the easy one of course)
When you choosed your city in the weather app, click menu options and there is a box to check for Farenheit.
Good luck
being a new user myself, i can say that the search function isn't very helpful. however, there is an option in the HTC Home plugin options under weather, where you enter your city, to change it to Fahrenheit. also, to fix the CommMgr there is a registry edit you have to do, you change whatever it says to like WLAN1 or something.
Did you try the search XDA using Google sticky post?
For conveniance here's a link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=314616
Also this is not really what we think of as upgrading so I'm moving it to the Kaiser section.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone that posted a reply in here. I am trying, still having trouble finding the items but every search brings a new .cab installation to my phone!
Thanks Guys!
I happen to have the WLAn Registry fix bookmarked as I have to run it after every new ROM install. (Scroll down to find it)

Batch fixing 'First Last' <-> 'Last, First' saving manner in contacts

There is possibility to change manner of saving contact name to 'First Last' <-> 'Last, First' etc. in each of the contacts separately. But I'm looking for a solution how to do it on all contacts at once, but without using Outlook or any other computer software (directly in the device).
Thanks in advance for any suggestions...
Please search the forum, I am sure I answered this questuon about a year ago. It involves downloading a few cab files, which give you that option in the context menu. I no longer have the files ( did not need them), but there is still a link floating around here somewhere.

I've found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=966683&postcount=3
But not tested yet. Paul from MoDaCo also suggested using WebIS Toolbox for that.
Those are the .cab files I meant. Install them on your device, then select all your contacts (there is a separate .cab for that as well, not available in that thread, you have to search for it, it provides an option in your context menu) and then bring up your context menu. Then select the way you want to store your contacts. Worked on my Hermes, not tested on my kaiser

'Select all contacts' would be the secret then, as it's not possible to select multiple contacts by default...
Correct, but I found a .cab file around that period that makes it possible. It only works once though, after selecting all contacts once, only a soft reset would enable you to do it again, some kinda bug I think. But that file was posted here at xda or at modaco, it worked for me.
check out this tool @ http://www.shubaroo.com/index.php?module=contact. it's worked for me without issue...

Thanks - it looks very promising, and I'll test it later in the evening
You need no .cabs to change the way the contact names are displayed on your WM6 Kaiser. Just select a contact and select edit then scroll down till you come accross "File as" click the drop down box and this will give you several options by which to list your contact. For example: John Smith, Smith John or Company Name (Even By Nickname). Try this out.. And hope it helps.
Yeah, sorry read your question wrong...Sorry don't think there is a built in option to change whole list at once. Better stick to those .cabs

Field Test Program

I can't find the field test program in my tilt. Or maybe it's not there? If it is not where might it get it.
Much Mahalos in advance...
I think this is what you're looking for.

I am not here to be a critic, but man if you really work for AT&T you would know that you don't need the Field Test application to enter into the field test mode. For instance on the AT&T Tilt to enter the field test mode WITHOUT the Field Test application is *#*#364#*#*. Just my thoughts.
OK so is there a way to turn this on via the USB port?
I am looking for the steps to enable a 2nd diagnostic port and have this same data sent out the USB port Can you help me with that?

Very nice, didn't know you could use that code. I ended up making a shortcut icon for it.
Just use Windows Mobile itself!
Set the File Explorer to show all files and navigate to the /Windows folder. There you will find FieldTest.exe , copy it and then navigate to wherever you want and paste as shortcut.

Interesting, Operations huh. So i guess your regional supervisor is jack, Tell him I said hi. Since i cover the northeast region. Not to meddle, but don't you have all the test equipment provided to you by AT&T that is far more extensive than a field test mode on a tilt?? I mean damn go to any tower and use your AT&T provided test equipment, then tap into the switch. Operations HUH, I always thought we go by the name "Field Technician" guess i missed that memo.
test mode cell site id?
I am a contractor that builds cell sites for AT&T in Southern CA. We also install BDA's for customers that have poor indoor coverage. I am using the tilt and cannot figure out how to get the cell site id to show up while in test mode. Is the field test mode capable of showing this? Is there another program that I could install to have this ability? Having this ability would allow me to determine where the cell site is located in order to properly orient the donor antennas when we are doing a field. Also, does anyone have a link for what all the field test information is and what it means? I know most of them but a few of them are new to me. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
MAC

When you work for companies they don't tend to tell their employees stuff like this, during training they probably only told him/her about the field test program because that is what they want them to use.

I use my old Nokia 6600 with CellTrack application installed (http://www.afischer-online.de/sos/celltrack/index.html). It has an internal database created from a .csv file where I have loaded all the cellId, Lac, Network name, Site Name and descrition of all the radiobase station managed by me for my company (I work in Wind tlc).
I immagine an application for my Tytn that collecting the cellId and Lac (and ofcourse signal strenght) could perform a quick search in the database to load other info about name, description and address.
May be someone could write down an application like this?
sorry for bad english..

CellTrack is great but
CellTrack is great but we need a similar application for Windows mobiles. I am a telco professional as well and so many fellow eng use Kaiser. Sure we have tools as well, but sometimes we like to play with cell infos when we are not at work. Telco is our hobbi as well
riping data
Hi there,
is there a posible way to get all info saved to a file as seen in the 'field test' program.

WorldCard Mobile

I've had HTC Kaiser rom on my phone for almost 9 months now, and I just now noticed the WorldCard Mobile program. I've been evaluating it, and it seems to work fairly well at recognizing the text and putting the information in the proper categories. What I can't get it to do is export that info to my contacts. I've read a few threads on it here at XDA, and some are saying it has to be registered, but I don't see any where to register it within the program. Reading up on the help section talks about [Export to Contact], but it only has "Export" and it doesn't give me an option on where to export. Is this an evaluation only version that came with the rom? Or is it full function and I just don't know what I'm doing?
It does work pretty well. After I take a snap shot of a card and go to exit the program it asks if I want to save as a contact. Mine isn't registered. You may want to download it and reinstall.
I have attached the user manual for worldcard mobile, sounds like you did not have it. Registration, usage and other features are described in detail and should resolve your query.
What i got along with the phone was a 30 day trial...

Thanks for the help file, but that is pretty much the same as is on the phone now, minus a few pictures. It does show what happens when you click on 'export' and mine does not do that. Clicking export will take me back to it's start screen. Clicking the 'about' icon doesn't give me an option to register, it gives me a normal 'about' screen that appears to be a registered version.
I have the install file from from PenPower, I will give that a try tonight.
Work'n now
I reinstalled the program and it is working now.

How to automatically detect if "Optical Pad Mode" is enabled?

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone had an idea on how to tell if the optical pad is currently enabled on the Xperia X1 programmatically? Is there a registry setting somewhere that shows the current mode (D-Pad or Optical)?
...I actually don't have an X1 at the moment, otherwise I would have have been able to investigate this more. I've checked through the xda forums and on Google and haven't found any hints on this.
Hopefully, someone has already come across this setting and will be able to point me in the right direction?
Also, a second question... does anyone have any thoughts on how to detect whether the current device is an "Xperia X1"? I'm guessing there would be a registry setting for this.
Thank you -- any information would be very much appreciated.
I know for one that the device info is a .txt document in the windows folder. I have no idea about the D-pad though. I can't imagine you'd be able to tell through the registry, as modes aren't usually controlled through the registry - which is rather used for fixed variables. I think only the driver "knows" the current status. Won't be easy to extract.

Thank you for your prompt response Angelusz. Do you happen to recall the name of the .txt file with the device info?
As for the location of the optical/d-pad mode setting, I actually wouldn't be at all surprised if they stored it in the registry. The setting has to be stored on the system somewhere, and the registry is as good a place as any.
(Sometimes, it's actually beneficial to store things in the registry since then you don't have to worry about creating your own custom file format, or writing file read/write classes.)
Anyone willing to check the registry for such a setting? Or perhaps do a search using the Remote Registry Editor ("Edit->Find")? Maybe a search for "optical" or something?
I'd probably assume that there would be something stored in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers"...
Really, any help with this would be great.
Thanks again.
ModelName.txt - it just sais X1i - or X1a if it's an X1a ofc.
I searched the registry for "dpad" - no results.
Checked HKLM/Drivers - no results.
I still think I'm right.

Thanks for the additional info on the filename and it's contents. So, (just to confirm) the only thing in that file is "X1i" or "X1a"? Or would I have to parse for anything else in there?
Also, thank you very much for doing that search, much appreciated!
Hehe... well, I'm not saying that I'm 100% sure you're wrong, but it wouldn't surprise me if you were ...I'm just saying that the driver has to look somewhere to see whether the optical pad is enabled or not.
They can either use a file or the registry, that's pretty much it. Otherwise a soft-reset or battery drain would cause that setting to be reset.
Okay, one more request, if you don't mind.
Would you (or anyone) be willing to do a registry search for the term "optical" with "Values" and "Keys" checked, in HKEY_CURRENT_USER and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE?
I realize that this is a lot to ask, so please feel free to say no. In any case, I really do appreciate all of the time you've spent on this so far.
Thanks again for all of your help!

it is under settings, there you can see the optical pad icon to change the settings.
you can put it on/off and there is a option if you want to use it in ie (internet explorer) and you can adjust the sensitivity.
peace to all

Yes, just X1i or X1a.
That finds some settings, just some strings. A filename, OpticalJoystick_Setings.exe (the app below post describes) and that's it.

Wow, sorry about the super-delayed response - I didn't see a notification of any new posts come into my email...
Anyway, thank you very much for confirming the data in the text file, Angelusz; and for running the additional registry search. This is very useful and I thank you deeply for taking the time to look into all of this stuff for me!

Based on the various posts I now know what to do with the X1; so thanks again everyone!
