how to make best of limited sleep? - Off-topic

any tips?
i usually get only 6 hours of sleep.. i end up tired and drained ...
anyone has good tips on how can we maximise this 6 hours instead

Not sure what is your question, but if you want to know how to sleep beeter, I recommend this:
Before go to bed:
- Have a tea of letucce, lettuce has properties that help you sleep better
- Do not sleep thinking on work or any other disturbing stuff, try to get your mind relaxed (A meditation can help)
- put some relaxin music for 30 min
- And if you can increase to 8hr for sleeping
It works for me
Cheers,

Clonazepam!

Polyphasic sleep
I almost never sleep more than 6 hours. On 4 hours I'm still fine, but my skin suffers badly.
This guy is a bit crazy:
http://dustincurtis.com/sleep.html
There was also a drug discussed recently on TV, can't remember the name, that permits no sleep at all ad infinitum, (but with short naps). I could do with some of that.
V

You're talking about Modafinil.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modafinil
You'll probably find that having a 15-30 minute nap in the middle or late afternoon means you feel that bit better through the evening and don't need to sleep as long through the night. In effect, you're making your 6 hours more worthwhile if you have an afternoon nap or siesta.

@ZenithUK that's the one. If you've got some, send em over
To juxtapose Lily Allen: "I like sex, not so keen on drugs anymore, fame is something that really confuses me". Looks like I'm going without 1 and 3, so 2 will have to do!
V

i used to sleep very little
i thought the best way to defeat this was to sleep little and take pro plus
but after a while pro plus isnt as powerful
so i got myself sacked ha ha
there no way id work 67 hours a week again for anything less that 500 a week

@-PiLoT-: I was talking to a taxi driver in London recently, and that guy makes more on Friday and Saturday then I make all through the week. And it's all cash, ie no tax...
Thank goodness he was ugly, or I would have felt really bad
V
PS yes, I'm making myself feel better. I'm uglier..

LOL SLEEP SLEEP
hahhaaa
i dont smoke.. dont drink.. used too for both but not any more..
i am 28 .. i get about 6 hours a day.. but am VERY tired..
i dont know y man

dont you think 6 hrs is quite good??
i generally manage 3-4 hrs on weekdays max 5 hrs
and 8-9 hrs on weekends (busy schedule of a student LOL)
and i am quite happy with it
dont feel tired
dont take any drugs for sleep etc
maybe you should try YOGA or some form of meditation (i prefer meditation and daily workout of 1-2 hrs)
also i had a book called "the silva method of mind control" by jose silva
it helps a lot to improve your meditating capabilities and concentration

If you have insomnia just get a base ball bat and bash your head until you fall unconscious.
Hope you try this.
Good luck, and have a good sleep.

Honestly, I only get 4-6 hours a night, it depends on when I go to sleep. I have been programmed through work to get up by 6am, so my sleep depends on when I got to bed. A beautiful woman in your bed wanting to have relations helps...

increase you exercise/sporting activities! you will sleep deeper! i have noticed this on my self

i will try... work is tough ..

For me, 6 hours is good.

Just saw some research that says those that get 4 to 6 hors sleep live longer than those that get 8 or more hours.
However, if you are constantly tired for no obvious reason - then see your doctor, there could be all sorts of reaesons for it from depression, stress to thyroid problems. I'd suggest you don't google causes because you'll end up thinking you've got every problem under the sun!! If the doctor feels there is cause for concern then they'll do blood tests and such and find out any underlying physical cause. Never ignore persistent problems.

This site is the reason I'm constantly tired
Dave

i got hard sleeping problems, for that, i take melatonin. It's a substance that can be found in the body when you have to go sleep (it makes you tired). Sometimes there isn't enough in your body to put you to a nice and relaxed long sleep. You can find this stuff in allmost every drugstore, i highly recommend it!

Why does my batery drain so fast then xD they gotte help atleast a little bit in then situtation ?
grts
I'm really not sure but some apps are triggered to start by some events internal to the phone (ex. Text message, Alarm). Those apps that auto-start are likely those types.
Killing them from an app manager will not do since they will start again. This is just my guess hearing from one of my friends who has experience with app development.
I have pretty good batt drains on most roms. And drain could be caused by a lot of stuff - signal strength, data usage, etc.
Oh okay make sense so maybe if a bought a new battery cuz this one rly goes out fast
when i bought the phone he was alrdy charged for about 50%

Yep that could work. Give it a few charge-discharge cycles. Some batteries just need some exercise
Relating to your battery problem, having 3g turned on seems to be the culprit. Try turning it off when its not needed

Juice Defender is pretty good for preserving battery life.
That in conjunction with SetCPU profiles (underclocked when screen's off, etc.) will extend your battery life by quite a bit

Off topic, need serious input (surgery)

I've suffered with back pain since high school and it has gotten worse and worse. I have been on pain medication and other medicines which have little effect. It's to the point I can't run, jump or play with my kids like I want and hurts to even walk some days.
I go tomorrow to my neurosurgeon to schedule surgery and I'm a little scared. He of course recommends it and says it will make it much better, but I hear people say I'm crazy to have back surgery because it will make it worse, even a family doctor said this. I'm only 34 and don't want to screw it up worse.
So, have any of you had back surgery and if so what was your results? Was it better or worse?
I'm definitely worried so I want to hear from someone who has had it. Thanks in advance

My co-worker had her spine basically fuzed together, but apparently its better then pain/paralysis. What kind of surgery is it?

They are putting some titanium in between my lowest disk. It has pretty much collapsed and is pressing the nerves causing the pain so he has to open that space back up

Have you tried cannabis for pain relief ?,
Do you live some where that has a mmp
my dad had back surgery like 7 or 8 years ago and is still able to play soccer a bunch and stuff. he couldn't be happier with it (i think). sounds similar to the procedure you've been reccomended.
The reason why people advise against it is because of the possibility of something happening. If something goes wrong, you can end up paralyzed. Something like this though is rare. Don't worry, the surgery will do you more good than harm.
If anything, ask the neurosurgeon about intra-operative monitoring. The monitoring helps by clarifying anatomical structures that have been distorted by degenerative disease, congenital anomalies, revision surgery, tumor and some other things.
I remember reading this somewhere too, if you want I can look for the article.
I haven't had back surgery, but medical sciences have evolved. I wouldn't worry too much about it. If anything, make sure you have a professional do it... Lol, but of course you have one! Don't worry
If anything, request the success rate of the said procedure, and any possible consequences. Ask him/her how many surgeries have they done that were like that, and if they were successful.
My father had back surgery back when he was 36 or so. He had a disc problem and said that after the surgery the pain had subsided substantially.

My gf has had most of her lower back fused together and while it does lessen it the pain it has not removed it as well as has removed alot of flexibility in her back. She still can't stand or sit for long periods of time. No running or jumping and playing still but at least she is not in bed due to the pain all the time.
When it comes down to it. You have to decide on the lesser of two evils.
I hope it helps you more then it hepled her.
Well i went today and had the rest of the tests run. I have decided to go ahead and do the surgery. He stated my specific surgery has 85% success rate. I'm still nervous though. Pray for me ;-)

[APP]Sleepy Clock - wake up well rested

Sleepy Clock helps you sleep and wake up at the optimal time by calculating sleep cycles. Inspired by this simple website: sleepyti.me
Made it for myself really since I check that site so often and figured I could benefit from an app on my phone. It's now pinned on my home screen
Get it here:

I updated the app and published it to all available markets. So you should be able to get it by the end of this week hopefully!
This is pretty cool... assuming your sleep cycle is exactly 90 minutes. Great idea though. I'm gonna test it out this week.

Most people's sleep cycle is 90 minutes*, but people vary in time it takes to fall asleep. The average is 14 minutes, and that's taken into calculation in this app, too!

I've been using this app every night...it's ok if I'm the only one using this, but I feel it could benefit more people. Check it out if you have irregular sleeping schedule.

Not a Exactly Newbie ...

Not really a Newbie .. Just haven't posted in a few years .. Used to be known as "sheeesh" but can't remember my old password and after trying to get back on, I gave up and started over ... Since last posted I joined every other person on the planet and bought a few iphones and a few Samsung Notes. My eyes are getting very old as well as my mind and only a moron can't figure out how to use an iPhone. I am using that now and just gave my grandson my Note 9 ... The only old gadget I still own is the HTC Shift x9500 .. It's about ready for the trash I think but hate to give up on it .. Can't start up, won't charge it seems .. Don't know if it is the charger or the battery because it won't start even if plugged it. Last time I used it I updated it to Windows 7 or Vista I think. Maybe even Windows 8... Can't remember but it was working fine when I turned it off ... Any comments?
Welcome back to XDA
For your sake I hope it's W7 cause Vista SUCKS.
You'll need to replace the cmos battery as it's surely dead as Zed by now.
On most laptops they will power up but you need to configure the bios to go any further as it's settings were lost with the battery.
The power supply maybe dead.
About the only things that really fail with sitting are the electrolytic caps and sometimes the hdd will seize up.
Thanks .. I will give everything you said a check/try ... I have been away and not getting adventurous with my gadgets because ... LONG STORY SHORT ... I got cancer ... fell in the hospital .. hit my head and then everything went downhill .. . On the bright side, been cancer free for 3 years ... Just my brain isn't working like it used to since the bump on the noggin' ... I was thinking maybe I should try and reclaim my old username but it isn't important I guess.

So the bios data is still valid?
You might want to copy that down if so as that cmos battery has to be low.
