[APP]Sleepy Clock - wake up well rested - Windows Phone 7 Apps and Games

Sleepy Clock helps you sleep and wake up at the optimal time by calculating sleep cycles. Inspired by this simple website: sleepyti.me
Made it for myself really since I check that site so often and figured I could benefit from an app on my phone. It's now pinned on my home screen
Get it here:

I updated the app and published it to all available markets. So you should be able to get it by the end of this week hopefully!

This is pretty cool... assuming your sleep cycle is exactly 90 minutes. Great idea though. I'm gonna test it out this week.

Most people's sleep cycle is 90 minutes*, but people vary in time it takes to fall asleep. The average is 14 minutes, and that's taken into calculation in this app, too!
*Source: http://www.helpguide.org/life/sleeping.htm

I've been using this app every night...it's ok if I'm the only one using this, but I feel it could benefit more people. Check it out if you have irregular sleeping schedule.

anyone has good tips on how can we maximise this 6 hours instead
Not sure what is your question, but if you want to know how to sleep beeter, I recommend this:
Before go to bed:
- Have a tea of letucce, lettuce has properties that help you sleep better
- Do not sleep thinking on work or any other disturbing stuff, try to get your mind relaxed (A meditation can help)
- put some relaxin music for 30 min
- And if you can increase to 8hr for sleeping
It works for me
Cheers,
Clonazepam!

Polyphasic sleep
I almost never sleep more than 6 hours. On 4 hours I'm still fine, but my skin suffers badly.
This guy is a bit crazy:
http://dustincurtis.com/sleep.html
There was also a drug discussed recently on TV, can't remember the name, that permits no sleep at all ad infinitum, (but with short naps). I could do with some of that.
V
You're talking about Modafinil.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modafinil
You'll probably find that having a 15-30 minute nap in the middle or late afternoon means you feel that bit better through the evening and don't need to sleep as long through the night. In effect, you're making your 6 hours more worthwhile if you have an afternoon nap or siesta.
@ZenithUK that's the one. If you've got some, send em over
To juxtapose Lily Allen: "I like sex, not so keen on drugs anymore, fame is something that really confuses me". Looks like I'm going without 1 and 3, so 2 will have to do!

i used to sleep very little
i thought the best way to defeat this was to sleep little and take pro plus
but after a while pro plus isnt as powerful
so i got myself sacked ha ha
there no way id work 67 hours a week again for anything less that 500 a week
@-PiLoT-: I was talking to a taxi driver in London recently, and that guy makes more on Friday and Saturday then I make all through the week. And it's all cash, ie no tax...
Thank goodness he was ugly, or I would have felt really bad
V
PS yes, I'm making myself feel better. I'm uglier..

hahhaaa
i dont smoke.. dont drink.. used too for both but not any more..
i am 28 .. i get about 6 hours a day.. but am VERY tired..
i dont know y man
dont you think 6 hrs is quite good??
i generally manage 3-4 hrs on weekdays max 5 hrs
and 8-9 hrs on weekends (busy schedule of a student LOL)
and i am quite happy with it
dont feel tired
dont take any drugs for sleep etc
maybe you should try YOGA or some form of meditation (i prefer meditation and daily workout of 1-2 hrs)
also i had a book called "the silva method of mind control" by jose silva
it helps a lot to improve your meditating capabilities and concentration

If you have insomnia just get a base ball bat and bash your head until you fall unconscious.
Hope you try this.
Good luck, and have a good sleep.
Honestly, I only get 4-6 hours a night, it depends on when I go to sleep. I have been programmed through work to get up by 6am, so my sleep depends on when I got to bed. A beautiful woman in your bed wanting to have relations helps...
increase you exercise/sporting activities! you will sleep deeper! i have noticed this on my self
i will try... work is tough ..
For me, 6 hours is good.

Just saw some research that says those that get 4 to 6 hors sleep live longer than those that get 8 or more hours.
However, if you are constantly tired for no obvious reason - then see your doctor, there could be all sorts of reaesons for it from depression, stress to thyroid problems. I'd suggest you don't google causes because you'll end up thinking you've got every problem under the sun!! If the doctor feels there is cause for concern then they'll do blood tests and such and find out any underlying physical cause. Never ignore persistent problems.

i got hard sleeping problems, for that, i take melatonin. It's a substance that can be found in the body when you have to go sleep (it makes you tired). Sometimes there isn't enough in your body to put you to a nice and relaxed long sleep. You can find this stuff in allmost every drugstore, i highly recommend it!

Problem with Beautiful Widgets not updating my location when I drive around..anyone?

Hi!
I have the Beatiful Widgets one that looks like HTC and I like it but the Location is stuck at my zip code Spanish Fork no matter where I go.
I work on a different city for 8 hours a day and it never changes, meanwhile, fancy Widgets changes very quickly.

From your home screen press menu then settings/privacy and turn on "Use My Location" See if that helps..
The lowest tine interval you can use is 2 hours. So it will only check every 2 hours.

The shortest time interval is 15 minutes. It defaults to 2 hours. I changed mine to 15 minutes and it works fine if you make sure it is set to Use My Location.
Mine is not updating the location since the last update. Doesn't matter what I set it to.
Edit: It does update sometimes but it appears to be pretty random and definitely not on the set schedule.

*Possible* CM7 GPS Polling Rate Fix

This does not work on the newer nightlys, it breaks GPS. Removed the attachment.

update.zip to replace /system/lib/hw/gps.inc.so with the file found in the Incredible_C_GB_S_VERIZON_WWE_4.01.605.0 leak that rmk40 posted/updated from 911Sniper's.
I really can't take any credit at all for any of this. I just saw what the Evo guys did, tweaked a line in the updater script, switched their gps file for ours, and then signed it with Signapktic.
If you want to thank someone, please thank galandy and daryelv.
Runkeeper has been having problems for me, so I'm seeing if this helps. i've flashed this and made sure I still got a GPS lock (CM7 Nightly 134), but I haven't had a chance to try it with Runkeeper.... hopefully this isn't an epic fail. One image shows what it looks like good, and one what it has been doing lately.
If you aren't having a problem, I wouldn't flash it, and remember the nandroid!
md5: 2c1f40fcdeabfd4068ef13b9f3358aa6
Hey so do you think you can elaborate on what exactly this does?
On first glance it looks like it is having the GPS refresh much more rapidly (therefore consuming more battery life I'm guessing).
Is this the only thing this mod does?
Yes, how is the battery life with this?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App
I can't comment on battery life at this point. I'm going to use GPS on Monday evening and will report back. I expect it may drain the battery more while using GPS, but for me, the trade off of more polling is worth it.
The update.zip simply replaces the CM7 GPS driver with the driver found in the Gingerbread leak. I can't speak to the changes in the HTC driver, because I've not seen the code (probably wouldn't do much good for me to see it anyway), and the source is not released.
If you are not having a problem, I wouldn't flash it.
I'm curious how this turns out, since I've noticed the same thing with RunKeeper lately. I don't think it has a negative effect on my total mileage, but every once in a while the accuracy goes completely wonky and it can't give me an accurate reading of my pace at the moment.
I had my days mixed up, today isn't a run day.
I wanted to get some initial results though, so I did do a quick run. GPS seems to have a higher polling/refresh/whatever it's called rate. The only thing I did was flash this update.zip.
Tomorrow I go for a 40 minute run so I'll have a better idea on how it hits the battery. I just went 5 minutes today, so it didn't really do anything.
So far, seems to be good. No more corners being cut off!
I'll have to keep my eye on this, when I was running sense roms maps was able to be able to track me with pinpoint accuracy, with cm7 it seems off by a few yards. Not a lot but enough to say im in my backyard when i'm in my bedroom or my neighbors front yard when i'm in my kitchen. If I can get that lock I got in sense with cm7 i'll be a happy camper.
Curious as well
I have noticed issues with GPS being off 5-10 yards as well. I ad recently flashed back to 7.28 radio which seemed to help initially or so I thought. I noticed it off about 10 yards on golf apps.
Looking forward to how this turns out

Yup, sounds like it
Just got done with a 35 minute run, GPS is working much better for me. I have an 8 month old 1500mAh TP2 battery. It dropped 6% in 35 minutes (screen off the whole time, just using runkeeper), which does not appear to be better or worse on the battery to me than the stock CM7 GPS driver.
If you are flashing this driver, you will have to re-flash it after flashing CM7.
I haven't tested accuracy, I can only say that it has increased the blue dots on my run keeper map which is what I wanted.
Thanks for looking into this. I've noticed that my tracks has been working poorly lately for me. Sometimes it even skips parts of my course altogether. Some of this may be due to the terrain (I use it for MTB ) but I never noticed it when I was using the stock rom. Ill try it out and report back if anything gets better.

Yeah, this helped me. Maps is smoother, and MyTracks is insanely smooth! No noticeable difference in battery use either.
Just got finished with my evening ride and it seems my tracks is working perfectly as far as smooth maps. I did notice something odd however, my tracks reported almost one mile more than the odometer on my bike computer! The first two miles were right on and then it seems something went wrong. Ill have to try it with a known distance and see which one is the culprit.

Adding "Durr" - like functionality to the Galaxy Gear

Hi folks! Sorry if I'm posting the wrong thing in the wrong place at the wrong time, as it often happens too n00bs on such structured forums as XDA's. Please move/mark this post as you see fit if it goes against the guidelines.
I have recently stumbled upon skreksto.re -> products -> durr The Faceless Watch, which immediately seemed to me like an insanely useful accessory, especially for those who sometimes struggle keeping track of time. All it basically does is vibrate at 5 minute intervals in order to challenge your perception of time. :cyclops: There is an article on The Verge which also discusses the Durr, exploring the "Faceless Watch" in more detail. There is already an [apparently, pretty buggy :silly: ] app for the Pebble Watch, which emulates the same functionality. I couldn't help but wonder if you awesome XDA folks could be interested in making a program which would add that functionality to the Galaxy Gear. (and, due to the nature of the GGear, such a program could probably run on any android device, given its very minimal requirements).
I am not experienced with Android programming, so it would take me ages to do this on my own - and even then the end result would probably not be very usable. That being so, I decided to come to the experts to see what they [as in, you] would advise - and if anyone can spare a minute and some lines of code - we can do this
So... Please, Advise!
Cheers

I have to say, I wouldn't normally have found the idea useful, either. Problem is, I can't post links yet - otherwise I'd point you to the video and review which I have looked at. Either way, it may still not have been something you would want on your wrist - i guess that is personal. but I'd like to ask people to search google for Durr and, if nobody at all likes the idea, I'll make do myself. Otherwise, we may have a 15 min project

Hi, thank you very much for reply! :victory: That would be a really great start! Then all one would need is the ability to exit said mode. :good:
If you decide to pick up this little project, feel free to delegate tasks to me. I'd learn a lot from something like that. Do you use a Gear?
This is possible, although this wouldn't be used in a all day type scenario would it ? It wouldn't be very battery efficient otherwise.
I find this useful perhaps while public speaking or something along those lines where you want to track your time real time in discretion.
This is definitely possible using tasker without a doubt. Although as I said, will only be useful if used for short intervals.. otherwise quite simply your gear's battery will die.
A better option would be a hard coded lightweight application that would run in the background..

Awesome! :fingers-crossed:
Definitely not for running all day. However, the way I envision benefiting from it is by allowing it to run while doing something unproductive (fb/twitter/random article/picture of a cat) - in order to not allow a 5 min read become something more.
As for public speaking - although I had not thought of such before your post (nor was it mentioned in the original Durr article), this could possibly be among the best applications for such a gadget.
Thanks a lot for replying :good:

Oki., got the function working now.
WIll just add a simple On/Off function and then it´s online... Hold on!
Just an idea:
Every time the vibration is different so as to recognise the time without looking.
05= 1/3 second vibration
10= 1/2 and then 1/3
...
35= 3 x 1/2 + 1/3
...
50= 5 x 1/2 seconds.
Different profiles = different custom vibration patterns!

Oki, here it is, pure and simple.
This first release is only working as a timer, so no connection to the actual time.
So from the moment you tap the settings to "On" it will do a 300+300ms vibrate every 5 min until you tap it to "Off" again.
So if you want it synced with the clock, be sure to tap the "On" setting on an even 5 minute
Try it out and we can develop further later on...

Thanks for this, I'll be sure to test it soon. I do a lot of public speaking so I love the idea of having it vibrate at set times as I often find myself checking my watch to keep track of time. I'd be willing to send some compensation your way if you could get it to work like a simple notification system. Vibrate in that pattern at pre-set times, for example, after 20 minutes, after 40 minutes and after 45 minutes from the time it starts.
This would help me a lot.

Vibrate in that pattern at pre-set times, for example, after 20 minutes, after 40 minutes and after 45 minutes from the time it starts.
This would help me a lot.

I like starting up new projects so I can surely work something out.
I´m building the feature now that starts the vibrate at the actual time and not just as a timer.
We´ll see what I do next.
