Edit Alarm Clock - G1 Apps and Games

Anyone know of how to change the stupid "dismiss" button to the menu button when it goes off? So only snooze is on the front when the alarm activates...'
Reason why is its quite dumb to have it there because the other day I must have slept moved, and hit dismiss instead of snooze and I ended up extremely late for my job...
Thanks .

i use klaxon, klaxon only has a snooze button and to dismiss it you have to hit menu then turn off alarm

Ahh shucks no free ones though hu? Just so I can have the dismiss in a different area?
Thanks for the response .

spend a few bucks and get to work on time.
The money that you gain (not lose) in your salary should more than compensate for a couple bucks.
devs put time into this stuff, lets support the good ones

Hmm.. I have quite the opposite problem. I accidentally hit snooze, then it vanishes and the only way to get the bloody snooze off is to deactivate and reactivate the alarm. Might be a better idea to just set the alarm to the time that you *really* want to get up...
I suggest that the layout could be better, i.e. split the screen into nothing besides two big buttons.... top to snooze and bottom to off.

Alarm Clock for Heavy Snoozers

I'm a heavy snooze button hitter. I sometimes don't remember the alarm ever going off. Problems I have with PDA Alarm Clocks is that the Snooze and Dismiss buttons are always in the same place. I'm looking for an alarm program that moves the snooze and dismiss buttons around the screen (and could possibly require 3 or more presses in different locations to disable.)
Ideas?

Pocket Alarm http://www.wizcode.com/products/view/pocket_alarm gives you the option of adding a confirm message box or it even makes you do a math problem to stop or snooze.
Haha thats funny a math problem will wake me up frustrated as hell. It would be cool if it disabled the buttons so you'd have to use the stylus.
yea I use pocket alarm with the 'alarm 5 sound'
anyone has a more annoying alarm sound as mp3 ??
i use spb time for my alarm clock. It is the first alarm clock that I am able to wake to each day.
I am also a "heavy snoozer" and I use Pocket Alarm. It is the best alarm for me and I do choose the math problem option because I sometimes don't even realize I'm hitting the snooze button and end up waking up late.
I'm attaching a .wav file that is very effective at waking me up. It's loud and annoying, perfect for heavy snoozers.
I actually think I got it here.

thank you
You can always try spb time. Very loud alarm and big buttons for snooze and disable. Unfortunately it's not free but you can download the trial and see if it's worth the $$$.
I'm running SPB Time...I like it for all it's features and such. I would just wish that the "OFF/SNOOZE" buttons on the screen would be in different places each time it goes off.
ptravelalarm
Very easy to use.

Both PocketAlarm and SPB Time are VERY good
I have tried both these: PocketAlarm and SPB Time
Both of these allow using mp3 files for alarms, which was what I was after, while I stumbled on these.
PocketAlarm: Most comprehensive alarm system that I have ever seen. Period. I was pleasantly amused to see the 'math problems', but I do not really need that, as I have a wife to wake me up now
Sadly, it does not have a countdown/countup timer. But as an 'alarm' it is very complete.
SPB time: Complete too, but does not have math problems - but has a superb countdown and countup timer function. I love it.
Which one do I recommend?
I use SPB Time now, as I do not need the math function, and the timer functions are a big bonus for me. So, you choose between them (math problems for snooze OR timer functions).

Yeah...I've seen Clocky.
I myself like the "Flying Alarm Clock" It has a propeller like key that flys off the top of the alarm when it sounds. You have to find this key and replace it in the top of the clock to silence it.

Good find! I had held off buying a clocky as I don't think it would get very far in my bedroom lol! This is perfect and cheaper, I just bought one!
Im using "End.net enAlarm" right now... It works fine for me, unlike SPB Time that often dosent play the sound on the alarm. End.net have like "Pocket Alarm" a mathproblem for you to solve befor the snooze shuts of...
And for the alarmsignal I use this one that im attatching, its a hell of a noice when this goes off. If you sleep thru this alarm, your dead

Is There Something Better For Notifications? (Stock Stinks!!)

Hi,
I have been searching and looking for something to replace the mechanism for notifications on my TP CDMA (Sprint).
When my calendar notification, SMS notification or voicemail notification activates, its a tiny icon in the status bar at the top, which I have to tap multiple times and then I get the annoying HTC status screen and then I need to tap the icon for VM, or alert to see what my notification is...
I find this very annoying and its easy to miss important notices.
Isnt there a better way? Ideally, something that would automatically play a ringtone and display a window on the screen (even after standby) until I dismiss it....
Does anyone know of something like this?
Thanks!
If you go into Settings -> Sounds & Notifications -> Notifications
You can configure how the phone notifies you about each event, so for a SMS you'd set for it to "Display Message on Screen"
Granted this is not a huge amount a flexibility and a lot of the time the pop up dissapears and one would have to click up at the status bar again to get it down, yet it is still options.
I haven't looked into differenet notification programs / systems as I am quite content with the stock ones just changed to my liking.
Personally, I hate the pop up, always comes up in the middle of something and just gets in the way.
Is there any way to actually change the look of the bubble ???? I'd ideally like it to be centered on the screen, instead of at the bottom. Also, if you looked more like a bubble, or something else, that would help too. I've been Googling around for about half an hour, and have found NOTHING except changing the bubble color on iPhone and some apps for changing those.
Why aren't there any on WM ????

Francarl is working on trying to change the look of the bubble Check out FingerMenu in the Dev & Hacking section. It should look something like that if it works.

I just set everything to vibrate and flash. I have rlToday setup with 4 BIG finger friendly icons for SMS, Email, Missed Calls, and Voice Mails at the bottom of my Today screen... with their respective counters. A Vibrate and Task icon is enough already. Looking at the today screen will let me easily see anything I need to worry about.
rlToday is a today plugin based on XML which you can create to look like anything you want. Highly customizable.
dontforget works but appears initially to conflit with s2u2 so I'm using dontforget insdtead. hope to find a way to do both.
Shawn
I hate how I have to constantly go back and turn on "display" for reminders. It disables itself all the time.
dontforget is doing that? not had that issue.
Hey, i have used PhoneAlarm for a few years with past phones, just loaded it on my new Verizon TP, works great as usual. It is not free, ($15 i think), but has been well worth it. Google PocketMax PhoneAlarm (you want the pro version). It is very customizable (skins, custom sounds and intervals for different events), has profiles that can change alarms based on your location, meeting status, or manual selection, and supports TF3D. It also supports a popup on new event and with the notification softkey that allows you to easily click and address the event. I started using it because it allows custom repeat alarms (different sounds after a certain period of time as well as custom intervals). I needed something to alarm pleasantly a few times then an obnoxious alarm every 20 seconds to wake me while sleeping. I'm a paramedic in sometimes remote locations dispatched via this phone, so i NEED to get messages. I've tried several others and always come back to PhoneAlarm. Just my 2 cents...

Reminder Snooze times

I rely heavily on calendar reminders to get things done, and with Windows Mobile it was perfect - you could either dismiss, or snooze for days at a time. The iPhone had no snooze. Android does have snooze, but it seems to be predetermined. Is there any way to adjust this on the fly?
My app searches end up finding alarm clocks, etc.
Calendar reminders
I don't know about changing the snooze time, but you can adjust the time when you get the popups or emails reminders about a certain date and time.
YESS ive been searching how to do that for days.. but gave up, if anyone finds out please post.
I've been looking for a way to change the WM alarm snooze times for a very long time with no success. I use the ability of Pocket Informant to set multiple alarms for an appointment as a workaround. There's a small '+' to the left of the alarm box when entering an appointment that can be used to set extra alarms. I just dismiss my reminders, knowing that I've set another nearer the time. It's not ideal but better than what's built in.

[Q] Silencing alarm. Clock from 4.2

Hi,
I woke up before my alarm this evening - how the hell?
Anyway, I swiped down the notification to expose the snooze / dismiss options and pressed them both lots of times while going deaf and nothing happened. Tried swiping away the notification and it continued to get louder. Went in to the alarm app and tried unsetting the alarm, by this point the cat was climbing on me clearly trying to help me in my distress. Eventually I clicked the alarm and it opened up the usual swipe left to snooze, right to stop thing that comes up when the phone is locked.
So clearly I failed that test.
However, why wouldn't the two options in the expanded notification work? Are we missing bits still in the port of this app?

How do I set a timed vibrate toggle(And put it in the 'Settings' pulldown)

Hi all,
I had a nifty feature back in LLama where I could set my phone to silent and it would ask me how long. It came in handy at the movies or other private events, I know it's really easy to do, and there is even this guide:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3829624
On how to just set a toggle and set it as a tile in the exact location I wanted. The thing I'd like to add is a popup asking me how long to set it to vibrate for, and then have it return to its previous state when that time has expired. Minutes and hours would be preferable. If this isn't possible to do with a tile in the settings pulldown, then just setting up a widget would be cool.
So, to clarify:
Open the settings and click on the tile, or activate the widget on my screen
Popup appears
Choose how many hours minutes I'd like it to be on vibrate, hit 'Done'
At the end of that time, it returns to normal(Or, failing that, it just returns to a setting I choose if I can't just have it return to its last state.
I'm sure that this one is super easy, still learning Tasker, so I'm not sure where to start. As always, I appreciate all of the help in this AWESOME community! Every time I come to XDA, no matter what the subject is, I remember what community help forums used to be like.
The simple answer is to set vibration mode on then create a scene with two data entries (number, text field, whatever) one for hours and the other for minutes. Use those values to create a wait in the task and after the wait, switch vibration mode off.
What I personally hate about that method is the task is just sitting there counting down. I prefer to make use of a time context in a profile. That means the time entered in a scene needs to be converted to a future time so the profile will trigger at that time.
I didn't feel like writing everything that covered the methods of creating a task like this. The following link is to a project you can import that covers the bases of turning on vibration mode and turning it off again. It's toggled from one of Tasker's quick settings tiles (#2). The vibration mode can be cancelled either based on the delay entered (time), or through a cancel button in a notification, or by tapping the same quick settings tile again.
The actions in this project are heavily commented.
