create custom splash - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hello,
I know there are guides and tutorials about creating your own splash for the diamond, but I tried for hours and i can't create the final NBH (I'm stuck with the NB file), I get an error in the final step that I can't fix. I'm attaching the image I would like to have converted to nbh to load as my splash. Could anyone please convert it for a Diamond nbh file and post it.
Thanks!!

THREE splash screens after flashing the latest I-Mate ROM

I just finished the flashing of 2.16.9.1 WWE from I-mate.This rom offers us THREE splash screens which was only one before. The 1st is HTC Screen(ugly),2nd is I-Mate(more ugly),3rd is WindowsMobile(I love M$-Blue).OMG,we get a gallery when it starts...
Any good folk has any idea about changing them?
Cheers.
The older Qtek aku2 has the same set of splash screens.
adaik only the 2nd one can be changed via ie. the aWizard tools
Ooops, sorry for my stupid excitement...I didn't do that flash...
I tried the aWizard3b2 to change it and none of them change... on the 2.8.7.1 ROM did it change the bootloaders too? (aren't IPL and SPL the bootloaders?) IPL/SPL after the 2.16.9.101 they are 2.16
I used the sample bootscreen to make sure I was doing it right. I am going to try and see if the nba splash screen file from my rom dump prior to the upgrade will work
update: no even using the nba file aWizard3b2 does not replace the splash screen. any ideas?
what worked on the 2.8 Qtek aku2 rom is putting a bmp (several are posted on the forum, use search) as the 2nd splash screen using awizard tools.
My bootloader is 2.08
Awizard cant write, following error:
CopyFileToTFFS(unlocked.bin:0, 0, 00010000)
ERROR: ITWriteDisk - An internal error occurred.
:S cant update the splash :S
did you enable rapi using aWizard first?

I have the same error since the new i-mate rom.. Not only while uploading splash screen, but also unlocking, etc. Hopefully they'll update lokiwiz for this new rom..
BTW: It feels like this new rom boots slower.. Because I see all three splash screens for about the same time as I saw the ONE before. So 3 times slower?? Did anyone time it?
i also see the same 3 splashs with the i-Mate rom update. used aWizard to replace splash, everything seemed to work fine (no aWizard errors) but alas the Imate splash & MS Win logos remain... =(
just FYI
I get the same internal write error, after I upgraded.
i did use a bmp file in awizard (one of the ones on the xda ftp site) and it aWizard3b2 didn't change any of the 3 boot screens. Isn't there suppsed to be a place to put a bmp file in the windows directory to change the bootscreen?
Bootloaders are 2.16 in the 2.16.9.101 file.
Hi guys,
I have been researching this for days.
1) AWizard CANNOT change the 2nd splash screen with the latest ROM, it used to be able to, it now cannnot until it is updated to work with the latest rom, which I hope will be soon. On mine (latest imate rom) it fails with the ITWritedisk:blah message.
2) AWizard never had the capability to replace the first HTC logo. I understand this is a work in progress, and someone needs to find a solution. Anyone?
3) You can easily replace the 3rd) (microsoft windows) splash screen by connecting your device via active sync, and then browsing your pockect pc on your pc. Go to /windows and find the .png file called welcomehead.96.png Simply replace that with your custom png in the same dimensions.
If anyone finds a way round replacing 1) or 2) with the latest rom, please post it here. I gues we need to wait for awizard to be updated.

I can't replace the PNG file, nor can I un-read-only it with Total Commander. It doesn't "take".

are you copying straight to "\windows\" from your desktop? If so, try coping to "\temp\" instead, then on your PPC itself copy from "\temp\" to "\windows\"
That worked... thanks....
you're welcome
You wanna change the second slapsh go ahead....you can...look at my post here...

Extraction...

Is there a way to extract a splash screen from an existing ROM?
I already know how to create a new one from scratch and incorporate that into a new ROM, but need to know how to pull one out.
Thanx.
"typho5.exe -x nk.nbf" extracts all parts of the rom in single files.
Okay...got that part.
From there, how do I extract each of the splash screens from the splash.nb file to files I can actually edit?
Thanx again.
Anyone...
Bump...

White splash screen

I'm trying to create and flash a custom splash screen to my kaiser. I,ve created an image in photoshop, and saved it as a 24 bit bitmap. So far so good. Then I open the bmp in nb_image_converter and convert it to a .nb file. I then open up htcrt, and choose kaiser from the device drop-down. Leaving all fields (model ID, Country ID, version etc.) at their default values, I load the .nb file into the splash box and build the Ruu_Signed.nbh, choosing to pad the file with 0's. Everything seems to go well, but when I flash the file, all I get is a blank white splash screen. What am I doing wrong? I would really like to have a custom splash to show off!! HEEEEELP!!
Shameless bump.
Was searching for a solution to the same problem you had.
Did you manage to fix it in the mean time?
Did you convert .nb file again with SplashTool? I gues not
I took the following steps:
Created a 24 bit BMP file.
Used nbimg.exe to convert the file to splash.nb
After this I used NBHUtil.exe to create the .nbh file.
At the end I flashed the device using CustomRUU.
Strange thing is that when I try splash screens by other people the screen stays white. Flashing complete ROM now to see if it helps.
Update: probably screwed things up. Even when flashing a new ROM the splash screen stays white :S
It does show the information on the bottom while booting.. ...will continue searching

You haven't used SplashTool after converting bmp file to nb.! Read my previous post
Sorry 'bout this.. ..been looking for about 4 hours now for a solution.
Can't even think straight :S I'm having this problem with the Diamond so it should not be even in here!
Did tried the SplashTool btw everything looked successful but the splash screen stays white. Will post in the Diamond section now.
TnX 4 the help. Got the idea I kinda screwed up the splash part of the device.

The NBH file can be decomposed into seperate .nb files for radio, ROM, Splash screens, IPL and SPl using the ROM Kitchens.
To replace splash screens:
1. decompose .NBH
2. delete splashscreen .nb files
3. create new splashscreen .nb files
4. re-package as .NBH with Breeze header

Thx anyway but I wasn't talking about kitchen here. There r programmes that do it without re-building ROMs, for example there's TyphoonNBFTool that does the trick with Qtek8500 by just a few clicks & there's also a set of tools for Hermes like wizsplash etc. And there R similar programmes with HTC MTeoR too. I mean to disassemble the whole ROM for the sake of boot screen (which is just a picture) is a bit too much, isn't it?
just like rom upgrade! but upgrade the boot screen only! its so easy!find some image you like and make it into nbh! then upgrade with ruu! just a few minutes

simple, find a photo, change its size to 240x320 pix save it as bmp file, load that file into nb_image_converter and convert it to a .nb file, open the splash tool and convert the .nb file that you just made into an .nbh, put that .nbh file into a folder with custom ruu. Run custom ruu and it will store the image onto your device as a splash screen.
