Hello, I just received form ebay a USB 3.5 mm Headphone adapter for my htc diamond like this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-11pin-3-5mm...ms=65:15|66:2|39:1|293:1|294:50#ht_3347wt_881
I connect my 3.5 Philips headphones from my mp3 player onn the adapter and then the adapter on the USB of my HTC Diamond. But nothing happens on the diamond. It doesn't recognize any headphones, the radio wont start.
If I soft reset the phone with the adapter plugged in , it starts in bootloader. Any suggestions??
Sounds like a faulty unit, especially if the HTC ones still work. Maybe you should contact the seller for a replacement.
Would it not have been better buying * this *? You get what you want and also the ability to make and receive calls.
I bought one of these, from a UK seller on eBay. I just looked for the same picture on the US ebay site. I have no idea how good or bad this seller is or if the price is cheap or expensive.

What are your thoughts. Seems like a good product. Be able to use some decent headphones for listening to those mp3z . . .
Anybody used one of these?
is the answer/mute button only for those 2 functions or is that module also acting as a microphone (don't think so)? looks good to me but i use the headset adaptor i bought from this internet site based in hong kong. check out:
http://pc-mobile.net/pxdaa.jpg (the website is http://pc-mobile.net)
it comes with a standard 2.5 mm jack for the xda. the wire is on a retractable mechanism to avoid tangling. at the other end is the stereo phone jack which serves as an answer/end button and as a microphone as well. there's a single headphone jack connected which uses a 3.5mm plug. when you want to listen to the toons using your 2-headphone set; you simply unplug the jack and insert any 3.5mm plug-based headset. in effect you can use any 3.5 headset as handsfree.
costs 26usd but services are 5-stars for me.
cheers
Anyone tried this adaptor from pc-moblie.net? The sound quality is good or bad?
i doubt that it could damage the quality so you can hear it unless you connect it to a stereo's lineIn and play it out using real speakers
those headsets are too limited imho to take much damage from a few connectors
However, all these things are not suitable for xdaII.
I bought one from pc-mobile and the quality is good. However, since the new xdaII got 2 buttons in its handsfree design, this product from pc-mobile is not fully compatible. You can hear from it but you can't pick up or end call from it as compared to xda1 you can.
I hope they can produce another product which is fully compatible with xda2. Otherwise, I may have to go for bluetooth but really worry about the battery.
Also, can I or is there anyone using the bluetooth handsfree for mp3 playing????? I doubt that very much.
I do really like the pc-mobile handsfree which is retractable and handy.
Any alternative in the market?? You got the adaptor but I think its only good for audio MP3 listening. If you attach another headsfree to the adaptor for business use (don't know whether we can...), you will have 2 buttons (one for the adaptor and one for the handsfree) which is quite funny !
Does somebody else have this problem and find a solution?
Do most people use bluetooth?
*Damn* !
Been creating a cable myself, tried it yesterdaynight late....
The damn thing didn't answer the phone when i pressed te button.
I cut the audio-out cord and trew the cable away, because i tought the mic didn't work....
Now i read this.... Guess the mic did work, but the answerbutton didn't.
Now i hope i can rewire the audio-out cabels again, so i haven't been soldering for nothing last night
Headphone adapter for HTC magic
Hello.
On the HTC magic, there isnt a 2.5 or a 3.5 headphone jack! there is only a mini USB jack. Does anyone know where i could get a mini USB jack adapter to turn it into a regular headphone jack?
Even if anybody knows what kind of mini USB jack comes on the HTC then that would be lots of help! because ive already purchased one that fit, but didnt work so it must have been a different type.
Thanks in advance!

Me again
I am looking to purchase an adapter to plug into my Qtek 2020i so that I can plug a FM transmitter into allowing me to play the MP3's to the car stereo.
I don't really fancy the idea of a 3.5mm to 2.5mm all in one unit, high change of breaking the 2.5 in the phone.
I have read around and there are adapters available that are a 2.5mm plug with a cable then the 3.5mm socket, but there seems to be problems with some of them not being connected correctly and thus, not stereo, not working etc.
I'm not bothered about bringing the microphone out, I have bluetooth and otherwise I'd be using the internal mic.
Any thoughts guidance anyone?

Hey Tom
Me too, if you find some information, please post it here.
Well what I do know is that Expansys stock such an item. However its in the £7-9 bracket, which strikes me as stupid. For that much I can go and buy an inline socket, a plug and a mile of wire and make it myself!
Infact for that much I'd look at buying a stack of inline sockets and plugs and make and sell the buggers!
Tom
I bought an inline 2.5mm-3.5mm adapter, and I had to cut away most of the plastic surround at the 2.5mm end to get it to fit. It was a bit dodgy anyway, might've broken the socket, so I got a 2.5mm right-angle jack to 3.5mm socket (along a short cable, just enough to run up the inside of my case and out the top) for a few quid. Still had to cut off the extra plastic on the 2.5mm end to make it fit though.
Not sure if this disables the internal mic, since I only use it for listening to music, and then unplug it when making/receiving a call.

Strange, I bought mine for about £2.50.
Hi,
I bought a 3.5mm FM transmitter powered by AAA batteries or Car adapter for $11 on Ebay.
Then I bought an INSTEN 3.5mm to 2.5mm stereo adapter with Mic and answer button for $7
This way while listening to music on my car stereo, if a call comes in I just press the mic button on the adapter and I can answer the call by hearing the caller on my car speakers and talking into the omni-directional mic on the adapter. My total cost = $18
It avoids the hassle of unpluging from your PDA phone...which could down the road cause problems with your PDA.
Look on ebay for these deals.
Thanks
well i just bought an 8gb micro SD for 30 bucks and im gonna put a bunch of music on my phone and make it my new MP3 player.
does anyone suggest any mini USB to 2.55 headphone jack product?
i found... http://www.tiltdepot.com/smartphone-experts-mini-usb-stereo-adapter/12A45A2373.htm
it's 5 bucks so not a cost really but just want to make sure that it'll work before i actually do buy it since it says works with the Tilt but i presume the 11pin to 2.55 jack is universal for most of these phones especially my Vogue...
PS. i have an FM transmitter from my mp3 player but it plugs into a standard sized headphone jack on the mp3 player, does anyone think it'd be possible to get a MINI usb adapter to a standard sized headphone jack and plug that in and have it work like that?
if the transmitter wont work, does anyone know where i could find, if possible, an FM transmitter from my phone to my car stereo? (not an auxiliary plug, my radio doesnt have one)
anything is a plus, thanks guys
I picked one up somewhere (a thread over at PPC geeks had a pointer I think). It cost twice as much but it has a microphone inline and a regular size jack. I can use an FM transmitter or direct plug-in in a vehicle. When a call comes in, the music is stopped and the phone takes over. When the call is done the music starts. sweet like pie. The cord is long enough to clip the mic to my shirt and Voice Command works great with it too.

is the one. I guess the mini USB cable I use is what makes it long enough.

ty ty i'll take a long
I use the Jabra BT3030's. I think that's the model number. Not the best, but I needed something quick, and it lets me use my kick-ass Sony earbuds, while still being able to answer calls. But now I need something better, with BT v2.0.
I'm looking for an active car cradle, but one that also has an audio connector so I can hook it up to the AUX input of the car stereo. The ones I have found so far only support charging.
Me too!!! I cant believe no one has made this yet...
Wish they make one soon
& we dont have to wait for it till HD3 is out
Doesn't the Brodit Active holder have room to plug the aux cable in?
Yes it looks so, but then I have to connect that cable seperatly. Moreover, when my wife takes the car, the cable would be hanging loose.
So I'm looking for a cradle that allows me to just put the phone into it and everthing is wired at once.

I have been looking for a while also. I did see someone mod a Brodit active holder by gluing a 3.5mm jack at the base of the holder. But as the Brodit holder is already a bit pricey I kept looking.
I have found a device that looks like it is sold under three different brand names although it looks to be the same. The one thing I am unsure of is if the 2.5mm jack will output the audio for music, GPS and voice calls or if it is just restricted to phone related audio.

$32.46USD Car Mount Cradle With Handsfree For HTC HD2 T8585 (HTC Leo)
http://www.netimes.com/shop/car-mou...tc-hd2-t8585-htc-leo-p-2536.html?cPath=80_731
This device is sold for the HTC HD2 T8585 and T9193 but AFAIK the US model is just taller, so it should also fit!
I would love to hear from anyone who already has one specifically in relation to the 2.5mm audio jack that comes off the hands free speaker. If I can just plug a 2.5mm to 3.5mm jack into the front of my car stereo, and audio, phone and GPS audio is sent to my stereo, I will be very happy
Here is a direct link to a close up of the hands free speaker and the 2.5mm audio/headset jack I am talking about.

Now what I really want is a nice case like the Capdase Alumor Metal Case, that has a built in wire free charging plate on the back to work with a Powermat, that also has a nice dock connector on the volume side of the phone, and comes with an active landscape car holder so that I do not have to remove the phone from the case to dock in the car. I guess only in my dreams
I looked into that one myself, but I was a bit worried about the hands-free functionalty of the cradle. I want to put the cable behind the dashboard and control the phone on the screen itself, not on the plug.
So I bought myself the Brodit and going to glue a square jack into the cradle.

I have the same concerns about the hands-free functionality. But I would love to hear from someone who owns one to find out how it does work.
Please post a picture of your Brodit solution when done with any hints you may have if you can. Cheers

Sony Ericsson Music Receiver MBR-100
I use a Sony Ericsson Music Receiver MBR-100 to receive bluetooth audio, cheap on ebay, and a socket car mount usb charger which i got for £10 off ebay, the one i bought even as a spare usb so i can power my PDA which I use as a hands free reciever via bluetooth from my phone and a satnav while i bluetooth music through my cars system (ford mondeo with mp3 plug in glove compartment).
Driving from nottingham to brittany this sunday so will get plenty of use
Hope this helps
I ordered the car kit linked below from neTimes:
http://www.netimes.com/shop/car-mou...tc-hd2-t8585-htc-leo-p-2536.html?cPath=80_731
I have not used it extensively but here are my impressions so far:
The device is made from a very 'light' plastic not from metal as I had optimistically hopes for. The build quality is pretty good!
Inserting the phone into the device for the first time was a frightening experience. It is a very snug fit, and I was more than a little concerned about the pressure required to seat the HD2 over the 3.5mm jack and the microUSB, thankfully no damage was made to either jack on the HD2 and the alignment of said ports appears to be very good.
The 2.5mm headset jack that is on the speaker/car charger part does indeed pass the audio (in stereo) to a car head unit. So it will pass all audio when plugged in. Exactly what I wanted.
The pickup answer button on the speaker/car charger worked somewhat intermittently for me. I will have to play around with it a bit more to see that the behavior was not due to operator error as I suspect. But it is not a crucial part as it is easier to reach the HD2 than this tiny button.
The suction mount sticks well to the windscreen, but the actual 'neck' of the mount is very short with minimal adjustment. I am now looking for a way to fix it to a Brodit vent or dash mount for something a bit more robust and unobtrusive. The curly cord is also on the large side and it is captive so can not easily be replaced
The holder does NOT swivel into landscape orientation. If it were connected to a swivel mount the HD2 would most likely fall out as it is high up over the center point of the mount and the is nothing other than the tight fit holding it there. But I have not really investigated this yet. Maybe I will test it out when I get a swivel Brodit mount. eXpansys list it as being compatible with the Herbert Richter Gooseneck Suction Mount so hopefully we have some other mount options.
There appear to be a number of stores selling what appears to be the same device under different branding like Kidigi and eXpansys have versions also. My advice is to buy the cheapest from the store that you trust the most to honor any warranty issues. I have never purchased from newTimes before so apart from the shipping in a good timeframe, I have no grounds to recommend them over other stores that sell this dock, like eXpansys.
All in all it is great value but I still have some concern about the long term affects on the microUSB port. I really do wish that Microsoft had specified a standard dock connector for Windows Phone 7. This is one area Apple has it over Windows Phone.
First, I tried this site from eBay:
http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=221271993040
Didn't work. Didn't even detect it as headphones, let alone mic.
Then I tried this one, which is "trrs," because several HTC phones work with it according to reviews:
Headset Buddy01-PC35-PH35) PC Headset to 3.5mm Smartphone Adapter
Same exact results as the two-dollar wire.
Nothing has worked!
Is so irritating that is so hard to use an external mic with a high-end phone like this.
Can anyone help?!:crying:
