The crap grammar is deliberate in the title...
Now, I'm probably going to be getting a Hero... So, do I sell it and get a TP2, or keep it?

'twer it me, It would come down to only two things to decide.
1.) Do I want Windows Mobile or can I deal with Android.
2.) Do I want a slide out keyboard or screen keyboard.
Those would be the only two deciding factors for me. Everything else is either comparable or it not that important to me.
If the Hero comes with HTC Sense., that would sway me towards the Hero. ( WoW , cool, first one on the block factor )

Get both. Problem solved.

Umm... I don't have £1000 going spare... well... £500... Hero will be pretty cheap on the contract, TP2 isn't coming on Orange for ages apparently.

Damn... That's the sensible answer I was hoping I wouldn't get!
My preference is towards WM, and towards a hardware keyboard...
But has anyone used both, who can give me some kind of slightly biased view?

I would much rather the hardware keyboard. I have a Kaiser, and while I haven't used another HTC screen keyboard, I have used the one on my son's LG Vu and my wife's iPhone, and I still prefer the hardware keyboard. As does my son, who can't wait for me to upgrade to the TP II so he can inherit my Tilt.

Hi l3v5y
I haven´t used them but thinking on how important is to me the keyboard I´ll go for TP2 with my eyes closed
Cheers,

yeah me too inclined towards hardware keyboard factor
but then you should also consider the qualcomm driver issue if you use the device for heavy multimedia applications
i will choose touch pro 2 for my kind of use

Videos of the Hero show me that it's virtual keyboard is one of the best out there so maybe give it a shot before passing judgment. The Touch HD's onscreen keyboard was mediocre but Finger Keyboard 2.1 solved my issues.

Hehe...
I might have a Hero for sale soon... I might not though... Need to get it sorted out first though.

I like to follow the idea of not judging a book by its cover. For example, I decided an iPhone was not at all worth its sticker price after trying it out off friends. I did enjoy its apps and wanted them so I ended up getting an iPod touch just so I can use those apps. That's why you should try out that phone. If you are truly unsatisfied, then yes go for the TP2. Another phone that seems worth a look is the Samsung Omnia Pro btw. The OLED screen and 800MHz CPU make for attractive options.

Be a happy wm user and get the TP2!

ID rather had a hardware keyboard also after losing my Wing (repairs atm) its kind of a pain using an onscreen keyboard and im using the opal so now hardware keyboard .

Another TP2
WM & Hardware keyboard do it for me
Oh and it just looks awesome

had WM from the 1st orange spv (nov 2002)
now have a hero....got to say try one before you judge it
the phone is.......VERY good
im very happy with my new toy

Orange contracts only have 500mb "unlimited" data...
Need to get a contract organised, but it's looking like I might go towards the Rhodium... Purely because I really like WM at the moment, and like the direction it's going. But, I'll try a Hero if and when I get one, and might love it...

this is cool, future touchflo

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LRbkHOllLA&eurl=http://msmobiles.com/news.php/6755.html
soo is this available as an update
if that was a real sales pitch count me out - a poor attempt to try and mimic the iPhone, they should innovate like their slogan instead of following behind.
Only new feature is the zoom - but honestly how many use your pda as a camera/picture viewer. Now if they also upgraded the camera so as to be on par with nokia's lens' and the n95's spec then I would agree with the R&D in this area.
forgot about the rotate feature...something tells me it would be easier to press the rotate soft key.....
overall you can tell that I am not happy with this upgrade. Sure it can't do no harm but I think that their time could have been spent researching new features yet to be seen by Windows Mobile.
how about a cube like this on your herald?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1552994&postcount=292
that cube looks pretty nice...lovin the skin. I am actually working on my own cube, trying to make a 6 sided cube (although i'm startin to think it will become quite aggravating to find a side quickly if you are in a rush...whaddya think) with some custom animations. recently inspired to make it into a matrix theme.
not sure if you have seen this thread but it makes it quite simple. YOu should try and implement it into your kaiser port
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=325424
and btw in regards to the first post the gurus over at pocket cm seemed to have pretty much mimic most of the features from the new touchflo in their pocketcm picture viewer. Give em some time and it will be better than HTC's version, im sure of it.
I know of that link. thats where i got the one i posted
I am folowing that thread to see if there is anything I want to use.
BTW. having more "sides" on the cube is ok idea, but making one that wont kill memory is a tough one my brother in law is a compter programmer, and im talking with him about a multisided cube, maybe there is coming something cool from that part in a while but no promises
about the kaiser port, we will see, first I have to make it work flawless before thinking about what to put in it.
sounds good, keep us all posted on any future developments.
as for the original topic...we all know HTC use Qualcomm chipsets in the past. Maybe with this new deal of AMD liscensing the new graphics technology introduced in the xbox360 (Unified Shader Architecture) to Qualcomm, we should be able to be able to have the memory from the animations use a dedicated graphics card (graphics card in ppc is not new -i think the flame has one)....just imagine OpenGL 2.0 running ported on a pocket pc. Possibilities are unimaginable right now. I think this is where HTC's R&D money should be going....but for all I know its already in the making...one can only hope
yeah that would be a giant step forward.
Im hoping its not so, but im afraid they will take tiny mouse steps forward, just so they can sell more phones.....they know we are addicted, and will buy.....lol

yeh for sure, its proven already that they only include one maybe two major upgrades per phone. Much more profitable marketing scheme. Just gotta know which phones to get, the people who purchase the Tytn II are going to be getting a pretty good phone that should b around for long. Where as a phone like the HTC Touch will get outdated pretty quick (Touch Dual already in production.) I'm sure when phones begin to be released with graphics cards built in they will surely only make them w/o keyboards, then another one with keyboard...then some "New and Improved Graphics Card" that doesn't waste as much battery (which they probably had from the begining.)
I guess you just gotta know to wait for the last one...

Guess the whole cube thing is useless. all of these skins mean nothing - when you use your device, and not just flicking this cube back and forth for hours
Sweet looks cool. I would love that for my phone. When will ver 2 be out? I have a problem with touthflo. I can use the cube once then if i try again it wont load. It just flips up then flips away. I have to soft reset the phone to use it again. Is there a fix for this? I have this prob with any touchflo rom. Even my mda with touchflo does this.

IPhone look-a-likes

I am so sick of everybody making Iphone icons and themes and all this bull**** for their kaisers. If you want a ****ing Iphone, go buy one. Otherwise, don't deface your iphone-superior Windows mobile phone with all this gay super-mario-looking jellybean rainbow macintosh ****. Iphones suck balls. Macintosh sucks balls. It's like buying a Ford F-650 and trying to make it look like a volkswagen jetta. Be proud of your windows mobile device people. Instead of infesting your phone, and our forums with all this glittery, trendy, crap, just go buy a ****** phone and go hang out at some other forum. ****, go hang out at starbucks, I'm sure there's about 100 douchebags crammed in there right now who'd love to go make gay buttlove with you. Damn, that felt good. I could go off on this all night. I'm gonna try to get some anti-mac stickers printed out to put on the back of my kaiser. If anyone else wants to rock one hit me up. If enough people are interested I'll get a bunch printed. Here's what I was thinkin:
Horray for super-mario-looking jellybean rainbow macintosh ****!!!
EDIT: But to add something useful...
The iPhone UI is very unique, combined with the ease and 'hackability' of Windows Mobile 6 IT SHALL MAKE THE GREATEST PHONE EVER!!!!
Catch my drift?
Plus, no-one is forcing you to use it, simply give the noob a link and PM a mod to delete the topic.
No need for a rant.
You do have a short temper do you?
EDIT II: For got to add the clincher!
Your avatar suits you
That is great and i feel the same way. Minues all of the gay love and harsh words but exactly what i was thinking in a way. I do like my tilt the way it is but i dont mind making it custom to my likings. The stickers though are a greaat idea. I think they could become a hot item.
I can't tell you how many people have seen my Tilt and said
"Is that an iPhone?"
No, it's a Windows Pocket Pc.
"Huh?"
Apple did a great job advertising and promoting their product. I rarely see ads for high-end pocket pc phones. It's annoying how iPhone users act smug thinkin their device is "sooo superior" and "sooo chic". Blow me

for sure. they just think its like a sidekick and are all over it. but then get all confused when they are able to touch the screen and cant manage their way around it w/o a scrolly ball and 4 buttons to get around the whole phone
Capacitive touch (like the iphone) uses the bodys natural capacitance (ability to store electricity) to detect when a finger is placed on the screen and where, determined by capacitive touch sensors.
Resistive touch is based on a series of many MANY resistors under the screen, in a matrix form (not Neo...) and when you touch the screen, a resistor goes low (no resistance) which tells the TS (touch screen) controller to tell the processor (Qual7200) that a finger has been placed at x,y with 0,0 being the upper lefthand portion of the screen.
o and its resistive, I cant spell

Multi-touch isnt a patent, its a STDIO (standard input-output device)
You can even make one, a BIG one, (if you have a projector and some time, with like 50 extra dollars to spare, build one!

I feel pretty much the same way...I think the I in IPhone stands for idiot....Yeah an Idiot phone. Anyway, but the IPhone UI is pretty slick and Microsoft has not been innovative with the today screen for 7 or so years. Point UI does a good job of not looking like an iphone and making it feel more like where MS should have had it by at least WM6. No love for the idiot phone here. Symbian before Iphone anyday.
Dont they teach you guys anything in school?
I mean c'mon im only 16 yet ive outsmarted my dad who is an electrical engineer with Cisco!
But that doesnt explain why you'all are so out of it...

xperia x1 looks like a possible let down.

Not sure if this is old news. The Sony Xperia X1 was displayed today. The video acceleration is the same as my un-modded Tilt. Here is a video link and approx 3:30 into the video you need to pay attention. Watch how long it takes after the qwerty keyboard is exposed for the video display to draw to landscape. It also seems as this device is a resistance display and not capacitance. I was under the impression that there were video drivers being used on this device. however the overall design is well thought out, and the GUI, as far as the pannels go, are nice. But overall i think i will just stick with my tilt.

i-want one of these...

I am a musician and have been looking for a decent music app for winmo for a long time now, there just isnt any really and no hardware to go with them. The iphone is years ahead of winmo in this area but then winmo if more business orientated. I am still with winmo at the moment and I have a touch HD, hower is some release one of these everything would change in hours....
The iphone would slot in and form the synth engine which could be controller by the keyboard.

winmo currently don't support mtouch

remote control razr i with hardkeys from milestone 2?

hey there
is there a way to remote control my razr i with my old milestone 2?
Would be great to have my razr in the pocket, listening to songs, while typing mails, events and notes on the faboulous hardkeys of the milestone 2 without installing another SIM.
I prefer the hardkeys very much to onscreen keys, but they've gone off the market I guess....
Thanks for your help!

Interesting idea, but it's kind of funny... Controlling one phone with another one - makes one of them pointless then, doesn't it?
But I sure wish some manufacturer (preferrably Moto) came back to the hardware keyboard concept and improved upon it. I had the Milestone for a couple of months and having an actual hardware keyboard ROCKS. Especially if your main language of typing has many cases and is highly inflectional, as Serbian (Serbo-Croatian) is...
Should we write to Motorola? Start a petition?

There were rumours about a new Droid/Milestone last year, but that was it... Nobody from Motorola ever mentioned they will be working on a new qwerty hw keyboard phone.
I've looked into the matter more deeply a couple of months ago and I found many tech bloggers talking about their wishes for a new high-spec'ed qwerty phone, but most seemed to agree that it probably will not happen, since it just became an obsolete idea...somehow. Not sure how at all, since there are MANY of us who want it and yet none of the manufacturers give any attention to it.
If Moto get to it and made a new well-designed and great-spec'ed phone with a slide out keyboard, that would be my next phone 100%. Maybe we should start an online petition to let them know what we think. Anyone interested to attend to it?
Because I really think it's unlikely that they will be announcing a new qwerty phone together with the new Droid line-up this year....
P.S. Edited my previous post to make it more neighbourhood friendly. I may be young (22) but I still find it to be the same language, only two different dialects. But let's not go into any (anti-)nationalism talk...

Yeah, that's more or less what I mean. But more like Airdroid for another droid, with a mirrored screen.
I couldn't use the mile2 for everyday business anymore cause it's too slow (though it works fairly good with the miui rom) , but I thought it might be sufficient just as a remote & mirror function.
A bluetooth keyboard would mean I'd need two devices on the table. My idea was more to use the benefits of the hardkeys when on my way somewhere and leave the razr in the pocket when typing.
Btw. I'm desperately seeking for a reason to still use my miley2 I just can't let go of it....
Probably I'll stick to Motorola forever for some reason I don't really know....

Care to start it, then? Or perhaps we should get someone from the US to start the petition? Motorola is still a US based company, as far as I know... And their two current strongholds are the States and India, if I'm not mistaken. I'm just saying that I'm not sure how much they care for the European market at the moment.
One more thing off topic - is that Gingerbread MIUI you're talking about? Because any post Gingerbread MIUI rom sucked the life out of my Defy, which has the same hw as the M2... Anyway, if you haven't checked out CM11 on the M2 already, maybe you should give it a shot, it worked very good on the Defy.
