Dear all,
I dumped the OS, Extended ROM and Radio firmware to a SD card and
flashed succesfully other devices with it. Now I would like to be able to safe the contents of this SD card to an image file to be able to use my SD card again for other purposes...
I tried w/o any success the OSImageTool from the XDA-Tools, it does
not seem to recognize the image on the card. Nevertheless, it flashes fine to another device....
Is the structure of a QTEK9090 dump completely different so it's not recognized by the OSImageTool ? Is there another tool available for
this ? Or any other way to make a complete dump of the raw SD content ?
TIA,
Willem.
Use this tool to read/write to SD card
* I don't remember from where I download this tools
you can use ntrw ( posted above ) or psdwrite.
the structure is very different from the one used by the wallaby/xda1/osimagetool.
xda2(himalaya), xda3(blueangel), jam(magician), sp3(typhoon), and probably other new models too. all use a similar format,
you can use sdtool to extract the contents of an sdcard.
Is it possible to save the dead device with fine bootloader and even booting mix of ROMS?
Details of this are written here. What exactly should I download and perform?

I have live Qtek 9090 with bootloader version 2.06 can I use it to perform backup/restore procedure with dead VPA III with 2.07 bootloader?
Is it possible to flash BA with SD, and image on it. I try it and put BLUEIMG.nbf a stuck at white screen and it says "Serial". Help
Probably useless but *BUMP*. I have asked this before and never got a definitive answer or methodology.
Solution
I have a solution, it is good when you don't have USB cable like me.
1. Woking blue angel (with WM2003)
2. You need mtty
3. SD Card at least 64MB
Open mtty, put sd card in
Type:
Code:
USB>d2s 70020000 1060000 sd
It will take 4 minutes to complete dump.
Put SD in BA, go to bootloader.
Help
Can somebody use this method, and upload the dump so others can repair their BAs, I cant upload it becouse I dont have USB cable. Thanks
would love this...especially a wm 6.1 build
Come on people... Try it and UPLOAD...
This is useful if you load a bad image and cannot make an activesync connection for RUU flashing method.
This method works for any 6.1 and 6.5, and even radio rom.
*** Some Kingston brand may have problem to use SD method, no solution other than use RUU method ***
0. Make sure x1 is hard-spl first
1. Make sure yr micro-sd is formatted w/ fat-32
2. rename the image file (normally "ruu_signed.nbh") to Kovsimg.nbh, copy that to the micro-sd, and put that it yr X1
3. Make sure X1 is disconnect to your PC to avoid goes to serial mode (AC power source is OK)
4. Bring x1 to boot-loader mode by turning off the x1 completely. Hold the "volume down" button on the right, and hold the power on button until you see the tri-color screen.
5. Then follow the on-screen instruction
Thx, always using this system.

This could be a problem with you're ROM language.
My xperia was english, so had no problem. 2 Dutch xperia's had this problem.
Just flashed SPL first, then flashed the english rom. And now the sd card method works on the 2 dutch xperia's.

I also got the same problem when using the rom from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2392404&postcount=1 but the flash of microSD method ran pretty well with this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=431218&page=6
Does the device automatically reboot after it's installed? I just used this method and the device currently says:
'KOVSIMG.nbh - OK
OS - OK
Update Complete
UPDATE SUCESS'
It hasn't done anything since.
spr33 you take the battery out, put it back in and switch on
I'm having a few problems, I have the HardSPL installed but when i load the rom image on the sd card and reboot the bootloader shows a message of "no image found". Is there something im doing wrong? The sd card is formatted to fat32 and it only has the images on it

I was having the same problem as you, I tried everything finally I just used the kovsky RUU and used the pc update tool with it. it worked great. just make sure you take your sd card out before you do it or it will keep trying to search the card and say no image.

After weeks and weeks aof reading, reading, reading, making copious notes so that I had the process sorted from start to finish, I decided to bite the bullet tonight, yes, New Years Eve (well it is my new X1 after all ).
OliNex Hard SPL worked a charm, then during the micro SD method, the dreaded "no image file" message appears. RATS!
Numerous FAT32 processes, different ROMS and still the same message.
Tried the cable version using RUU and viola, I now sport the fantastic Touch IT v2.2 and NO VODAFONE
I would like to thank the more senior members for their cutting comments to witless noobs that made me read, search and read again.
Also to itje for his great ROM - have only just had a cursory scan so far as only just finihsed synch, and running like a dream. Donation certainly coming your way!
HAPPY NEW YEAR ONE AND ALL at XDA Developers from a very happy revitalised X1 owner!

Has anyone more of an idea why the SD card method is causing so many to come up with the "No image file" message" ?
The USB version works for me, just would like to know the reason for error message - in case need to use it one day
BIG QUESTION:
Why some people can't flash from microSD card ??
I had the same issue
After a lot of trial and error, testing and testing, I arrived to this conclusion:
IMPOSSIBLE TO FLASH WITH microSD METHOD
(Nothing happens, "serial" message or "No image found" message popped up)
a) When I used an incorrect format (other than FAT32) on any brand card
b) With two Kingston cards properly formatted
I have successfuly flashed my X1 with unbranded cards and sandisk cards,
but after many attempts and format variants I NEVER achieved a successful flashing with kingston cards
Interesting...
Hi guys! i tried 2 flash my x1 ending in f***d up device.
I did the following:
1) running the hard_spl. The flashing started and at about 50% it stopped went back to the stripes screen telling me file not found...serial....all the things you guys described in the forum.
2) I created a card with a Kovsimg.nbh and restarted the device. Result was the same: File not found!!! but i did all like in the tutorial.
3) I tried again with hard_spl: First I got an Error 282 then 262. The device changes from stripes to grey screen the bar shows 0% ......thats all.
any suggestions??????????????????
Hello. I have two TOPAZ devices, which both have been flashed with a custom ROM. I flashed them around 2-3 months ago. When i tried to turn one back to WM 6.5 Original, it got bricked. So :
1. Can a TOPAZ be restored to the original factory state?
1.1 If yes, how?
2. Is there anyway to unbrick a TOPAZ?
3. Should this be 4?
Excuse my english
Thanks,
Mike
Bricked??? Lets see... To flash the original ROM, do the following:
1. Extract the original downloaded ROM-file (should be an self-extracting .exe file).
2. Copy the extracted .nbh-file to the root of your sdcard and name it: TOPAIMG.nbh.
3. PowerOn phone holding the VOL-DOWN key pressed until Rainbowcolorscreen apears.
4. Press Power to start internal flashing.
5. After flashing, Softreset...
Thats it... if one of these steps fail, please describe exactly what is happening.

WOW man!! That WAS a fast reply, thanks. I am at work right now, so I can't do much although, how do I extract the rom?
"2] Format your SD card into FAT32:
- go into dos and type:
format <volume> /FS:FAT32 /A:4096
3] Run Qmat to create a gold card:
- Put the formatted microSD card in the working WM device and connect via ActiveSync
- Run Qmat, Go to Hardware Forensics and select 'Generate HTC Goldcard'
- Select your bricked device's key
- Get the SD Card Serial from WINCE Device
- Save the Goldcard image to the SD Card
Now you have a SuperCID which allows you to flash any shipped ROM"
*thats from the sticky under unlocking/flashing*

thanks for the quick responce. so let me get this straight,
: i format my MicroSD
I connect it to my PC and with Qmat I Generate an HTC Goldcard
*didnt get this part* my bricked device's key? how do I do that?
then I use WINCE to get my serial(sdcard)
and now save the goldcard image to sd.
Is this correct?? thanks
Now, after i follow these steps, how do I flash the rom? same way as usual, or is it a special method?
and last, this is for unbricking?
Thanks again.
btw will the method in post 2 work for a fullyworking custom ROM device?
It seems like its basically just allowing you to connect your phone - enter bootloader - and run the .exe (TopazRUU) from your computer to flash a stock rom.
you should read the post in the first sticky, then look at "unlocking/flashing" and you will see #5 Unbricking
thanks
Is your problem solved?
yes, it is!! thanks everyone

If you get the recovery screen you should be able to at least re-install the factory android install off a USB stick or something.

Use the Rockchip SD Recovery Tool to create a bootable update SD card.
And make sure you flash a MTCD ROM ( MTCD and MTCB/C are NOT compatible)

There is a known issue with 5.1.1 recoveries that cause the kind of problem you have.
You need to:
1. Get a stock dupdate.img
2. Get the Rockchip create upgrade disk tool
3. Use the Rockchip tool to create a bootable SD card that contains the dupdate.img
4. Copy the dupdate.img to a USB disk
5. Insert both the SD card AND the USB stick to your unit
6. Start the unit. If you're lucky it will flash the stock image
7. If you get an error message (something like " 1. Action not performed. Please remove card") just remove the SD. Unit will boot to recovery.
8. Use the 5th option - Install from USB and clear all
HINT: You will know you have the correct dupdate.img at step 6. If it's OK you will not get all the "cannot mount /cache" error messages.
