NO
Your provider should support it, it has nothing to do with sim-card.
Just put it in and the phone will ask you to set GPRS settings for your provider.

Actually not really true. In Singapore, mobile users were asked to upgrade their G SIMs to 3G SIMs when 3G was introduced widely here.
I guess it would depend on your service provider and how old your SIM is.

That's something you should ask your provider.

Hi all,
I while back I was playing with differnt OS builds on my HTC, eventually setteling on a 6.5 custom build, and have been very happy ever since.
However, I have now gone to the States on holiday and have found that the phone does not pick up a signal but through the it was quad band capable.
Is there anything I can do to get people to pick up a signal?
Cheers.

Oh, how rubbish is that. Is this the phone or the Networks fault? How would the network know that it is a Diamond 2 trying to connect, and if so why would they block this phone?
Is it area dependant (I'm in Florida at the mo) or is this across the US?
ATT is a GSM carrier as is T-Mobile. You should be able to connect to ATT and get 3G - even roaming. I would suggest you try removing your sim and then reinserting it. Also what radio are you running?
Are you using your sim from your own network? Do you have roaming enabled on your account? I know some carriers do not have roaming agreements and perhaps that is your problem. If so, you might get a pay-as-you-go sim?
Tried removing the SIM/re-instering, but made no differnce.
Roaming should be OK as I am on O2 and aggreed international roaming before I left. My partner is also on O2 although has a Sony phone, but connects to a carrier with no issues.
The ROM is Tom Topaz v2.06 WWE
Radio 3.46.26.18
Protocol version 61.30t.25.25U
Try switching out your sim with your friend's and see if it connects then. If it does it's your phone, if not, it's your network.
Otherwise I have no clue. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me will chime in.
Good luck and post your findings. I'm rooting for ya!

Interstingly, the SIM is fine - both work in the Sony (T-mobile), both fail in the HTC.
Over the bods that know - can it be resolved.
what radio band are you set to ?
ATT in us works best on 850

Ah ha - bingo. As I'm not eacatly part of the jet set, many moons ago I set the Band to GSM (900+1800), which of course is fine for Uk + Europe, but not patricularly briliant for the US.
Setting this to Auto and the phone springs into life.
The things you forget, eh!
I previously used T-Mobile, and I found out that my C6603 was not compatible to TMOBILE's frequency for 3G and 4G network. And later I switched to AT&T, now I can get a H+ speed, but never LTE, I checked my APN setting, it's correct, and my mobile network preference is LTE (preferred). Anyone has similar question before and found a solution? Currently I updated to 5.0.2 lollipop, still no LTE.
Please let me know if you need more information of my phone like build number, kernel version etc.
Thanks!
Same here, never had 4G, I have C6603 , any ideas?
You need to have SIM card that support LTE, sometimes called USIM.
I had that problem with Orange after I got my first LTE phone(Samsung) and its turn out that I need new sim card.
Here in Europe(Spain, Poland, German) changing your current SIM card to new is free, you just need to go to operator sign one document and wait for new card.
I waited 5 days for it, but at least It was nanoSIM with adapter to micro and mini

I think my sim card support LTE, because I got it in September last year, and I think LTE is quite popular at that time, and ATT will give customers SIM card that support LTE without special request

Where did you get the phone? How did you update to 5.0.2? I remember some country has no LTE version Xperia Z.

I bought it from Amazon it was factory unlocked, and Xperia Z has 2 versions C6602 does not have LTE but C6603 does.
Does anyone know if the cellelur works outside of the US? I got my watch from the US and I got the unlocking code from at&t
Tried other SIM cards with no luck and also not sure what to do with the unlocking code as there's no where to add it.
Mine works on Tmo. I have digits and their international calling. AT&T, got no idea.
I bought an AT&T model and replaced the SIM with a Canadian Rogers SIM before the first boot. It's working on Rogers 4G and LTE and correctly set the APN automatically.
I bought the W281 from Eglobal.eu, and it works perfectly on every band from "Telenor" here in Norway. Now I just need the android pay to be adopted
Netherlands: none of the supported bands available
I use the watch (AT&T unlocked from eBay) anyway with just BT tethered to my Pixel
watch W280a LTE:
GSM 850/1900
WCDMA 850/1900
LTE 850/1700/1900

How long it takes to arrive? I recently bought from eglobal.eu to delivery in Sweden one week ago, and I don't have any information about the shipment yet. Yesterday I sent an email claiming and they said that they don't have it in stock and they will send when they have it... I saw some reclamations about this store. Can you describe your experience?

I ordered mine on 26th July and after one week waiting for any information I asked them and they told me that they only can send after 10th August.... It is good to know that you received yours, I was afraid that this store couldn't be trustable.
thank you.
I have been having mine for a month, now (it was an imported unlocked version).
As for the compatibility with the providers, well it depends : here in France, I have it seen connect in 4G with Bouygues.
With other providers, it may not get more than 3G+...
I finally got my W281 version from eglobal.eu last week.
I tried to use a prepaid SIM from a NVMO called Lycamobile that uses the Telenor network and has the cheapest data plan here in Sweden but only worked for calls and SMS. I tried with another NVMO called Comviq (Tele2 network) and didn't work, then I figured out that is impossible to use a carrier that you need to edit the APN settings in this watch. Editing APN networks isn't yet implemented in Android wear, to do this you need to root the watch and send the commands through ADB. I couldn't find a rooting procedure for this watch and I don't want to do it for now.
Here is the issue report, and should be good if everyone reports the problem there to get it working in the next Android Wear update.
issuetracker.google.com/issues/37100552
Here is a solution to use in a rooted watch:
michaeltroger.github.io/blog/2017/08/12/add-apn-in-android-wear-2
Normally NVMO has cheapest data plans and in this particular case, I think the watch only will use a tiny amount of data per month (majority text). The minimum data plan from Lycamobile is 75Mb per month and I think that is enough and cheap. For the majority carriers, the minimum data plan is 1Gb per month. 1Gb is the plan that I have on my smartphone.
So, I tried a SIM card from Telia and it works well with 4G.
Mine works fine in Australia on the Telstra 4G network.

Which model is yours? I have the W281 and it works for SMS but not voice (using ALDIMobile MVNO on the Telstra network).
I live in Lebanon and the Sim card didn't work, i have the 280A model and its unlocked
I initially bought the W280, didn't work in the UK (Europe), sold it on ebay.
Now have the W281, and works perfectly in the UK, voice, data, sms.
What's the default APN value like?

So there is no possibility for voLTE or similar on them is what you're saying?
I can use H (3G) while in calls but no LTE while in calls(voLTE).
But I may have to change my sim card to suport voLTE, since its an old AF sim card. I assume its my sim that is the issue since a friend of mine that has an iphone X (supports voLTE) had to ask for a new sim card to get it working.

Ask your carrier for a new sim card.
You sure your carrier supports it? (Don't know if it can be a carrier side thing)
I have a 02 handset ordered to use on three uk as its £799 instead of £1099
Has anyone got the o2 version and can help
Is it unbranded ?
Using none o2 carrier sim does anything not work ?
What are o2 like for firmware updates?
Does 5g work on handset even if using none o2 sim
Has anyone got wifi calling to work on none o2 sim
I am still in two minds to cancel and either buy s20 plus or get the unlocksd version but wonder if £300 is worth the difference between none o2 and o2 version
Thanks

Only text seems to be working using a three sim
I don't see any O2 things on mine, other than a few O2 apps installed and chrome had O2 as the homepage.
I put my missus Vodafone sim in and all works. I've actually got one arriving today, as the signal is better on Vodafone where I am.
My phone said update for WiFi calling, but I don't know how to make it work, so can't help on that one. It certainly said it installed something though.
I can test more rigorously with the Vodafone sim tonight, if you want anything specific done?

You won't have VoLTE or VoWiFi working with a Vodafone SIM on an O2 firmware. You can see this by dialling *#*#4636#*#* -> Phone Information
Just flash the Customized UK firmware.
Ok, something to look at on the weekend! Cheers

Yes, although my 5G speed on EE is not very impressive, it seems to be about the same as 4G (approx 30-40Gbs - which is actually okay generally, but way short of the advertised 150) . The phone shows a 5G connection however in the status bar.

I bought mine from O2 by paying the full amount for the phone (£799) with a 1-month 1GB contract to O2 - an extra £18 for the contract but it's one month only and then you can cancel the SIM, but a much cheaper phone, and got the free headphones too.
Buddy have your headphones arrived.
I am still waiting for my even though my claim has been validated.
thanks.

Just got my o2 Unit anyone having Signal reception issues? I'm often seeing 0-1bars and having no data or very slow speeds wasn't an issue with my previous phone.
Monitored with Signal Spy and getting -100dBm sometimes -110 depending where I go. I'll see what o2 says about it.
