Having a really hard time rooting...

Im on cupcake build CRC1 and been trying to root for 4 hours now and no luck... , Been trying the 1 click root and no luck. I want to install the hero ROM , but I need to root first for that. Is there a simple, step by step tutorial I can follow, or a tutorial that works good? Thank you for your help
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442480
That's the tutorial I used to root mine, that was quite a while ago but it should still work the same. Just make sure you read everything carefully, if something doesn't work re-read it again because it's easy to miss little stuff in there and get confused. Let me know if you have any issues with that.

[Q] Process system not responding

I was attempting to go through the steps to install CyanogenMod on my AT&T nexus one and now when I boot up my phone does not connect to my cell network or wifi. I keep getting the message about my process system not responding and eventually it reboots on its own. My bootloader is unlocked. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Everything was stock on the phone until I started this process.
Bad flash...
Best bet, because it's very easy, is to reinstall the rom after a complete wipe.
If that doesn't work then we'll need logs to diagnose... but best to start with a fresh install and let us know how you get on.
The good news is that it's almost 100% addressable...

Thanks a lot. That's exactly what I did after I found information on how to do that Friday night. Now I have unlocked, rooted and running CM-6. I love it. Just have trouble with data. Very slow to come on.

Help Rooting

Sorry for the noob question but i searched and couldnt find a way to root that isnt months old, just want to make sure i do this right, im barrowing a hero since my nexus broke, and i wanted to root it and make it 2.3.3 is there a simple way to root and install a custom recovery to make this happen
All root will be months old because this is an older device. z4root is the way to go. I'll give you a download link. The only 2.3.3 ROM is flashinglight's Sense 2.3.3 ROM. Once you use z4root and it says rebooting, you need to manually reboot it. Once rebooted download ROM Manager and select the flash recovery option.

Did you really search? If you did, I am sure you would have found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Hero_CDMA. And, if you found this... I am sure, it will answer all your questions.

[Q] Bootloader lock after root soft brick

After I have rooted my nexus 6 (using nexus root kit), I want to OEM lock the boot loader, but after I do that it seems to soft brick the phone. Anyone know what is up with that? I don't recall having this issue with my Nexus 4.

Dang it I'm in the same boat!!
Guys, as someone who was paranoid about rooting at first (with my OG Droid), I can honestly say that toolkits are not the way to go. The Nexus line is designed to be incredibly easy to root, and learning the manual way is going to give you the experience and confidence to fix any issues you may encounter. I was scared of adb and fastboot at first - I thought they were for tech wizards - but honestly, using simple commands is MUCH faster (and safer) than using a toolkit. If something goes wrong with a fastboot flash, it just doesn't work... Your file doesn't flash, and your phone is left untouched, and you can try again. If a problem comes up with a toolkit flash, you're pretty much screwed if you don't have the knowledge to rescue yourself. Please, take my advice, and use the manual method. It will help you immensely, and will make your Android experience (and your time on xda) much more fulfilling. I'll link the related thread below.

Sounds like you've jumped into the deep end a bit too early... The best option for you is likely to go to your device's forum, here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/s10-plus
There you can probably find information and guidance on how to root, flash and install stuff to your device. And you'll be able to ask for assistance from other users that have the same device as you (not every device works the same, and that is especially true for Samsung).
A couple of tips for you, going forward:
Do your homework. Read as much as you can about the modifications you're trying to do, and Android modification in general (but remember that things can change fast and a guide you find might be very outdated by the time you read it. The forums are usually the best place for up-to-date info).
Make backups! Always make sure that you have a backup of any important data, and don't store it on the device.
Know how to go back to a working state when you mess up, because mess up you will (everyone does at some point). This tip is of course tied to the first one...
Don't follow some guide or video blindly. Make sure you understand what every step of the process does. That way you won't get stuck like this next time.
Good luck.
