cannot connect to PC - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Recently I have not been able to connect my diamond to my pc via USB in either active sync mode or disk drive mode. I can connect my touch HD normally but not my diamond.
What am I to do?
When I connect it via disk drive mode my computer says usb device it says something like cannot recognize device or something like that.
My main concern is backing up the my pictures folder then I can hard reset the device but not before copying the pictures.
Thanks

Maybe this will help

[SOLVED] Not able to connect diamond to system in 'Disk Drive' Mode

Hello Friends,
I got a new HTC Touch Diamond about two days ago. I'm very eager to transfer my songs to it and when I tried to do so by connecting the phone to the system in 'Disk Drive' mode, it didn't work.
Each time I would connect the phone to my system and select the Disk Drive mode, the below would happen:
1. I'll see a 'New Disk Drive found' notification in my system tray.
2. The add new hardware wizard would come up with a message stating that there was a problem installing the new drive.
These two steps would keep on repeating untill I unplug the phone.
Though, I can connect the phone in ActiveSync mode without any issues.
If anyone of you has faced this issue, please let me know what needs to be done? Am I missing something?
Note: I had an older version of ROM (ROM version: 1.93.720.2) when I got the phone and I updated to ROM version: 1.93.720.4. I faced this issue both the times.
I have never used the disk drive mode. This restricts you from doing many things. I would suggest transferring all your files through activesync in the normal "Explore" way. This way may take a bit longer to transfer your files, but you can also sync them (the music ones) with your pc if you have Vista.....

I agree that it applies a few restrictions, however, transferring files via this mode is much faster.
I appreciate your reply, yet I need to get the disk drive mode working.
Thanks,

try changin another usb port, i suspect the port is faulty.. or change another cable.. i encounter such issue before and it turn out dat my usb port is acting weird..
Is possible to have an issue with windows drivers.
If the phone is working in active sync mode with the same port and cable, is not that.
While is connected as Disk Drive in device manager in USB section are you seeing it as storage?
If is there try from computer management\disk management to see if the partition from the phone is ok.
Best regards,
[SOLVED] Not able to connect diamond to system in 'Disk Drive' Mode Reply to Thread
This problem is solved for me now.
It appeared that the problem lay with my system and not the phone. I removed unneccesary programs and "cleaned" my system by using a trial version of System Mechanic v8.
I tried connecting after and now both disk drive mode and activesync mode work for me.
Thanks,

Kaiser only connects via ActiveSync

Hello,
as i wrote in the topic, my HTC Kaiser only connects to ActiveSync via USB.
From my Opal i know the Window that appears when i plug in the device via USB where I can choose if i want to connect via ActiveSync or USB Mass-Storage...
Is there any possibility to get this screen on my Kaiser?
I tried everything in the setting on the Phone...
And yes I can access the card via ActiveSync and my phone...
My System:
ROM: Windows 6.1 Original HTC Rom
Card: 16GB Sandisc SDHC Card
Thanks for your Help

The computer should automatically connect to the phone both ways. When you connect the phone to the computer, active sync will pop up. Once active synce says it is connected, open "My Computer" on your PC and the device should be listed there; that way you can access it as ActiveSync and USB storage. If that does not happen, than most likely you need to reinstall the driver.

Hi,
If you want to exchange your pictures etc. from your PC you need to install Zune software first. Without Zune you can not do that.
i install it but when i connect my phone to pc he say connect a device ...?

It looks like lack of drivers or maybe problem with USB cable.
make sure the cable is connected properly and your screen doesnt go off while your syncing or setting up cause that will terminate it.
thanks.is there any drivers to fix it?
1. What operating system are you using?
2. I note the first few times I plugged the phone into my pc (with Zune installed) it takes a while to fully launch and recognize.
So, plug the phone into your PC and wait a bit. Maybe it'll help.
i use win7 ultimate 64bit .all right i will be try that. thanks

[Q] Why can't I use the USB storage on my phone ?

I can't access the USB storage on my phone. Nothing works. 2.2 Froyo.
I need to transfer some files off it (music) to my desktop but I can't access it --- anyone know why ?
With a post count like yours you'd probably know better but did you put it into USB Debugging mode by any chance? Did you pull down the status bar and press on the USB connection thing?
Try restarting your computer, it happens me to sometimes also.
How long ago did it last work?
Did you try plugging it into a different PC?
Do you see the USB connect button once you plug the USB?
Until you get to the bottom of it, as a workaround you can change the USB mode to Kies and transfer files.

media transfer

using windows XP i can not get the nexus 7 to show up to transfer files. not sure if i need a MTP driver (which i cant find anywhere) or if there is something else i need to do i would hate to have to transfer media to a different PC to get what i want on there.
any ideas
From the charging notification, make sure it is in external storage mode to allow the USB PnP to recognize the device for file storage.

I plug the nexus 7 into the PC via USB. N7 says Connected as Media device. but nothing shows on PC
I dont have my N7 yet, but looking at my Thunderbold ... There should be an option for Disk Drive when you open the notification that appears when plugged in by USB. When the Disk Drive option is enabled, the PC will detect the drive and treat it as an external data source.
Perhaps someone who has an N7 in hand can chime in.
