init.goldfish.sh - overclock - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
How can I make a ROM that overclocked the processor to 512 high 127 low? I think you add it in init.goldfish.sh, but what code would you add?
Thanks,
Isaac

I know you're able to overclock RAM on computers, but is it possible on our phones? I sorta searched for threads relating to it but I didn't see anything. Anyone know if this is possible? I'm running CM 6.1

If it is possible, there won't be any point since the speed difference will be extremely minimal, if anything.

Agreed.... no difference really in a phone with the hero's resources

Actually wen u overclock ur CPU by default ur ram is already overclocked

That is only if you have the FSB synced. If we were able to adjust the clock multiplier by itself, RAM would not overclock. I'm not sure if the overclock adjusts the multiplier or not.

Not true only on Intel do u have to adjust the fsb on amd u don't need to-- just raise the multiplier but in any case wen u demand more process power out of your CPU ur ram has to keep up if it can't then you will get reboots over heating and black screens and it might get u a hardware error because most ram can't keep up there for wen u overclock ur CPU ur ram is automatically over clocked after all to overclock ram all you have to do in most cases is increase the voltage now for a big increase u might have to deal with the timing but that's rare

with the terrible experience of an overclocker on a computer of a few years. i guarantee ram doesn't overclock if cpu is overclocked by increasing multiplier, and overclocking on phone is completely different: you can optionally adjust CPU clock and RAM into kernel without regard to FSB or multiplier. and why is overclocking RAM not worth it when we need a faster RAM? I used to overclock on my computer and reduce the RAM bus to the lowest when ram runs at super low speed i wish i had never overclocked it makes my pc look like the turtle moving, focused on overclocking the CPU and I realized everyone was wrong, overclocking RAM improves read and write speed and data transfer but processing speed is since it's mostly CPU you won't see a difference unless you do the same as me. If overclocking RAM doesn't make sense we don't need those amazingly high bus RAMs!

[Q] Tegra Games & Overclocking !?

Is it just me, or don't tegra-optimized games benefit much from overclocking ?
I have Rogue-Kernel 1.3.1 (with GPU OC) running and can definitely say it's working nicely. (Antutu bench @ 1.6Ghz/ performance 7200+ points, @ 1.0Ghz = 5000+)
Playing Riptide or Shadow Gun, I don't really see much of a difference. Just underclocking to <= 400 Mhz produces lower framerates. Obviously these games are heavily GPU-dependant and don't really care about the CPU.
The Rogue-Kernel is overclocking the GPU as well (given you don't install the "N" Version). So is there a way to change settings for the GPU, or is it maybe linked to a "clock-network" like some other chipsets, or is it overclocked automatically - depending on the CPU-speed ?
thanks in advance ...
hm, so all you overclockers are oc-ing for benchmark numbers only

[Q] Xperia x8 Swap

Hello. i use Alfs 8 kernel and rom Ginger Dx.
I use 128mb swap and with 20 swappiness. But what are swappiness?
And what are the best value?

Swappiness refers to the tendency of the system to swap something into swap. Higher values mean that the system will swap more into swap, which also makes the phone slightly laggier as swapping and swap itself is slow as compared to ram. However higher swappiness will also result in more free ram.
Recommended values are 10 or 30.

Ok i will set swappiness to 30.

Very low 3D graphics score even after Overclocking to 1.4 GHz

Hi everyone
I recently overclocked my Samsung galaxy S i9000 to 1.4 GHz. I'm using CM 10.1.2 as my ROM and Mackay kernel 3.0.86.
I overvolted my cpu to 1350 mV and oc'd to 1.4 GHz using Voltage control app.
My issue (please see the attached png image file) --- Low 3D graphics score in AnTuTu benchmark even after this much oc'ing
I assume that as you overclock the cpu the gpu clock also gets increased, thereby increasing my 3d graphics score
Appreciate any assistance
thats normal mate, increasing cpu doesnt mean increasing in gpu or 2/3D perf. unless u can change da graphic card

Xperia sp undervolt

hey guys can i reduce the frequency of a core ?? will this destroy my phone ?
also checked my core and saw something incredible ! one core is minmum 384 and maximum 384 ! so this core is useless !! ???

If you have root yes, you can reduce the frequency with NoFrills for exemple.
And where did you saw min 384 max 384? :silly:
You can underclock with root any app that allow modifying CPU frequencies. To undervolt youll need custom kernel that allow such modifications.
