Market missing

Hey guys,
I got my pal the Motorola Droid or Milestone as they call it here, I booted up the device checked for updates and it was the latest one (2.1 update1) , I couldn't find the Android Market app, so the phone is really sad without the market place, How can I bring it back..any help will be appreciated
Cheers
same question for me... Mine is from china and comes with a pathetic motorola app store. I dont really want to ROM mine as I like the pinyin/chinese typing option for practicing my chinese. But do like to have google maps, navigator, and the market...
Market Missing after Factory Reset
Have the same problem. The market application is missing after factory reset. The droid is nothing without market app
I'm not sure if you guys have many options without rom flashing your devices.

Pay apps and Custom ROM

OK, I've got my new ROM installed and I love it. I'm in the process or re-installing my apps via AppBrain, and when I come to the two that I paid for (SystemApp Remover and ROMmanager) the "Buy" button is showing up again. I read in another forum that there should be something that says purchased but all I see is Buy. Do I have to go through the official Market in order to get them back without paying?
Anyone? I tried going in through the actual Market, not AppBrain, and it is still saying I have to buy them.
Paid apps are linked through your Google account. Try opening the Market at least once (to "establish the link") before installing through AppBrain and see what happens.

Thanks for replying
I went in through the Market so see if that might work. It didn't, and charged me for the SystemApp Remover again... grrr. I think I'm more frustrated now than I was before... LOL
I figured out what I did wrong. When I installed AppBrain again, I used a different email address in the Google Checkout. I've done a Google search but can't find a way to change it. Does anyone know if this is possible?

You should be able to return the app since it was less than 24 hours since you bought it. In the AppBrain app hit Menu > Preferences > Sign out and sign back in but with the right email. I hope I'm understanding your problem correctly
I can't figure out how to sign out. I don't see that option anywhere.
OK, I understand what you are saying, but that's not the problem. I only have one AppBrain account, which I linked to the wrong email address through Google Checkout, when reinstalled it. I will try making a new AppBrain account and see if that works.
Nope, still brings up the wrong email, I guess because it is on the same phone.

[Q] Will I lose app licenses if I factory reset/wipe my phone?

Did some googling+search within xda but couldn't find the answer so ... here I am
I am currently addicted to rom-flashing and I do a factory reset every time I flash a new rom. Today I came across the trial version of poweramp, found it better than the stock music player and would like to buy the full version unlock key. Here comes the problem: Will I lose app licenses if I factory reset/wipe my phone? What does the license depend on? Google Account or IMEI or what?
Thanks in advance
In market it is connected to your google account. Some such as Launcherpro are simply serialised.

[Q] Launcher Pro Expiring

Looking for some guidance here, my wifes Captivate is running Launcher Pro (free version), and about a week ago, she received this message as one of those little popup messages, saying "This version of launcher pro is about to expire, please go to launcherpro.com to update"....
I checked the Market for an update, and according to it, there was no update. We saw this message about every other day, until this morning, she goes to use her phone, and basically launcher pro has completely crashed out, and keeps taking her to the web browser trying to open to the launcher pro website.
She has no way to get to her home screen, or any other part of the phone. All the physical buttons on the bottom redirect her to the browser trying to load launcherpro.com, I assume to get this "Update".
I've never heard of this, I run launcher pro too, which no problems. Any thoughts? How can I back her out of using launcher pro as her home app, with out being able to access the main android setting panel?
Can this be done from recovery mode?
Is her phone rooted?
Edit: And is USB debugging enabled?
Yes, it is rooted. I think her most recent launcher pro update (from market) failed to download, or install correctly, and now it's corrupt.
She only has access to the web browser. She can access other websites, but launcherpro.com will not load.
I had her remove battery, sim card, and then reboot phone, no dice.
Edit: I think USB debugging is enabled, but I'm not sure.... I'm at work, she's at home....I'm basically trying to get my plan together, so when I get home tonight, I can tackle this.
I also had her type in the direct URL for the most recent launcherpro update (apk file) which she was able to download, but of course she can't install it....
If she can sideload apps, You might be able to use the browser to download a different launcher (touchwiz, adw ..etc) then uninstall launcherpro and reinstall if you wanted... just use the browser to sign in to xda and download whichever u wanted....if browser wont let you download an apk then you could use adb, download your launcher then adb push it to /system/app/ and reboot (you might have to adb shell to mount /system RW) once it boots u might have to hit the home key for it to pop up and ask what launcher to use..

I got the same message like 2 days back. I went to market and updated my version. It didn't give that message again.
ya, that was the first thing I did, but according to the market, her version was up to date, or at least there were no updates for her to install....
I figured there would be a way for me to sideload something, but I've never done anything like that....rooting via an update.zip file, was easy....
Edit: the other thought I had was, if she gets a market app update notification in the notifications bar, we would probably be able to get to the market that way, and uninstall launcher pro, or install another home app (adw). So I'm hoping an update gets pushed today.

Try ADW. This is one home replacement simple and more or less on lines of launcher pro, well, atleast personally by me.
She needs to get home launcher or something so that she can switch her launcher.
I still use Touchwiz mainly, but I have Launcher Pro Plus, ADW, Live Home, and Netlife Home on my phone as well.
Thanks, the problem of course is that we cannot access any part of the phone except the browser...so once I can figure out how to get to the market, or into the android settings, I will be able to disable LauncherPro.
If anyone has a suggestion of how to accomplish that, it will be most appreciated.

She can't even access the market? If she can get an app called home switcher. That would let her choose which launcher to use. If not you would have to either email the creator or reset the phone if everything she touches makes the phone go to pp website. I don't know how anything she does makes it go to their website to upgrade.
This is my Captivate. There are many like it but this one is mine.

If debugging is activated you could try to adb push a new launcher apk to /data/app/
Go to appbrain.com and you should be able to hook into the Market from there.
You can also use the Android Sideload Wonder Machine from Androidcentral to sideload another launcher or HomeSwitcher. Link
Just connect your phone with USB debugging on, but not connected as a usb mass storage device, select the apk, and click install.
If you are comfortable with ADB then follow the instructions in the link below.

1. Download any launcher, say adw onto ur computer.
2. Use adb commands to push it to /system/app
3. Press the home button -- this will prompt u to pick one home app, pick the new one, and presto... u have full access to ur phone

MikeyMike has the easiest solution. If on the phone, you can only access the browser. Go to www.appbrain.com, and download another launcher from there(Zeam, ADW,Launcher2) install it and reboot, you should be able to then select which browser to use.
download the .apk from your computer and install using droidexplorer...problem solved
I had the same thing happen to me. The launcherpro website is also down. This seems well thought out. How do you make a program liked by almost everyone and turn it into something I'm swearing at for the last three hours because I need to use my phone as a #(*@^@% phone.
I don't have mine rooted. Stupid thing is I was planning to do it this weekend.
Any of the ideas above work for a non-rooted phone? Can I still sideload something else somehow?
Thanks.

delete purchases from google market account

i have some free purchases in my google market account that i want to remove so my account looks "TIDY".
i downloaded them i tried them and now i dont use them so i want to be removed
can i do that? how?
I think so, your purchased apps will be saved to your Google account so you can always install them again whenever you get a new android phone. However I'm not really sure...
Sent from my Optimus 2X using xda premium
yes they are saved to my google account and they are too many because i have been playing too much lately testing the apps.
but now i want to remove some i dont use from my google account
i don't think there is a way to remove them from your google account.
i have a further problem with my google market account.. i'm unable to browse my apps after the 10th page.. it's a known problem and hasn't been fixed for a while =\
I think its ridiculous not to be able to remove them just like itunes.
I want just to keep the apps i only work.

also very keen to see if this can be done...
Hello!
I never tried it, but Titanium Backup Pro offers a feature called "destroy market link" - maybe that is what you’re looking for !?!

Hi,
It only removes the link app <> market. He's asking to have it removed from his account.

indeed so....
It doesn't seem to be possible, on Google Wallet there is no option to delete an app without refund.
paid apps can only be deleted by the developer or google after the 15 minute refund window.
to get rid of those, best you can do is ask the dev directly for a refund.
free apps you only have to uninstall.
once they are uninstalled they should be gone after you re-open the market app once or twice.
if this doesn't happen you're out of luck, the market account is bugged on your phone and you probably have to do a factory restore to fix it(and you can't restore a titanium backup for market/account related apps/settings!)
sorry i didnt mean for paid apps.
i mean for free apps that i tried them and i delete them in my phone.
i dont want to appear in my account library when i login from my computer browser (not in phone).
