P.S. i own the htc fuze from at&t in the US and same ROM as it came with...PLEASE help and dont flame and i will not add another thread of this kind again
No worries friend. This site is here to help.
Your best bet is to try a hard reset. This will wipe the device and set it back to factory fresh state. Just like you took it our of the box.
The downside to this is all of your data and programs in memory will be wiped out. The SD card will be fine, but to be safe, remove it befre you hard reset.
To hard reset, do the following:
1. turn the device off.
2. press and hold the volume down and Enter Button (round one on front)
3. Soft reset and keep holding down volume.
4. follow instructions on the screen.
Since you are faced with this, you may want to try flashing a new ROM or deleting some of the ATT "bloat" that comes pre installed. Check here for new ROM advice. Check here for a lighter set-up of the factory ROM.
Good luck.

is it any other way i might be able to fix without hard reset...just want that to be a last resort
P.S. my phone have seen some water it fell in outside during a rain storm so didnt know if that would have something to do with it also but this also happen a couple of months ago
It sounds like you have already tried the normal procedures. Your best bet for future stability is to start over. If you follow one of the 2 guides in my earlier post, you will have a much more stable device going forward. It takes a bit of time, but is worth it. Once you get the hang of it, it gets easier.
Doug M.
just try to hard reset it. you always can go back to factory ROM.
now im using wm 6.5, and my device performance is spectacular. XDA is the best.
thx guys.....i will try the energy rom 3 wm 6.5 that i have heard alot about
energy rom is a good choice and my current rom .
don't worry , once you figure out the rom scene you will hard reset all the time and will learn how to backup your contacts and texts .
a good thing is that nrg's rom even has a good restoring program built in . Pim restore . i use it religiously .
If you run into problems flashing another ROM or the phone still "acts" up, the drop or the water may have damaged some circuitry in the device.
You may need to restore to a factory state and send it in for service.
thx guys i was out of town.........but yea i got a replacement coming in so back to the drawing board with adding all the software i had on the old one to the new one but once again thx
my phone would turn off randomly and when slid it shut. bent the battery pins out a bit and all good now. just thought I'd add that as a possible problem/solution
lol wish you told me a few days sooner i just filed insurance claim and got a new but thx anyway because i might just have to do that with phone....im not hard on phones just bad luck if you know what i mean
Other things to do in the future if you come across similar problems:
1. Uninstall the last app you installed prior to having the problems.
2. See if problem is still there...
3. Repeat 1&2.
Always back up your data... There are some very nice backup programs available.
If above doesn't work.
Hard Reset and load programs one at a time after hard reset until problem reappears...or hopefully does not reappear.
If you load a bunch of apps on your phone, it can be more difficult to narrow down because of the amount of changes made by each app it may not return to the same state after uninstalling a program. That is why Hard Reset can be your friend...

I know this is my first post here but I've done my best to search the forums and I haven't found anything that looks like it helps me.
I just got my AT&T Tilt yesterday. It came unlocked (I'm using it with T-Mobile) and has an HTC ROM installed as well as various other apps (Ms. Pacman, TomTom 6, SuperDoku, etc.). I had some issues with it locking up yesterday (similar to what I'm experiencing now but to a much, much lesser degree) when I was playing around with it but those issues somehow corrected themselves.
This morning I installed the Tilt keyboard fix that TaurusBullba posted on here back in June to fix some mapping issues. Since I installed and soft reseted, everything has been going kinda haywire. The Wi-Fi turned itself off and I can't turn it back on. When I slide out the keyboard the orientation stays in portrait mode. When I try to shut down the phone using the power button it hangs forever. Now, actually, half the time I press the power button nothing happens at all.
I've tried uninstalling the CAB but that didn't fix anything at all. I'm afraid to try a hard reset because, from my understanding, I'm going to lose everything that came pre-installed on my phone for me. I should probably also add that last night I installed the Google Maps CAB with no problems whatsoever. Is there some simple solution I'm overlooking? Thanks much!
I would advise that if you have tried soft resets to try and resolve the issues and it hasn't worked, then perhaps a hard reset?
It sounds as if the software you have installed as either caused the problems or exacberated them (ie made them worse).
With hard reset it wipes everything back to when you got it. If you are able I would suggest that you plug it into the computer and make sure ActiveSync backups up your contents. You may also want to use this get all the files on the main memory either to the storage card or to you're PC.
As this is yo're first post I don't know how au fait you are with the above that I have mentioned
The preloaded apps will be reloaded again. You won't have an empty ROM if you do a hard reset. It will be as if you just flashed the ROM again.
Thanks for the replies guys. I went ahead and did a hard reset and it looks like the only thing I lost (or at least the only thing I miss) was TomTom. I've already reinstalled that using a link I found on here, and everything seems to be good to go.
I still have no idea what might have caused the problems though, so I'm afraid that they might come back or I might repeat some dumb mistake I made. I guess I'll just have to live with that for now.
clear storage / hard resets no big deal, just expect to do it every other week while you're finding all the cabs that work (or dont work) for you..
I generally clear storaged every week when i first got my tilt until I found all the app's I liked that didn't have side effects
hey everyone i bought a tilt, but i've had some problems and wonder what these might mean, its been 2 times already this happened, the phone would refuse to wake up when i push the power button, but the led's would blink, bluetooth and service led, also when i have done some reg edits or installed some things i've had the phone freeze at startup and had to take out the battery and start it up again to get it going, and once in a while when i do a soft reset once in while it thinks my battery is low when its actually like 90 percent and shuts down my phone, but once i turn it off completely and turn it back on its fine.
IT means a lot of things since you started hacking the registrys and installed some stuff.
Exactly, what did you hack and install?
I would take this as an opportunity to flash a new rom to it...
After reading up on how to hardspl it etc.
I too agree that something went wrong along the way in the process of doing some mod. First step would be to hard reset the phone. Be sure to stick the stylus in the reset button and soft reset when the "Installation will begin in 3 seconds" dialog box pops up so you don't have the ATT bloatware. If you really want to flash a ROM I would recommend the new ATT ROM as it is FAST! (Again, be sure to soft reset when the box pops up to avoid the bloatware!)

well i guess i need to reflash, i had the first att rom, the one that came with the phone, but i upgraded to the new rom as soon as i saw it, but i did a sprite back up of the old rom and put the backup on the new rom, would that have caused problems, because when i did reg edits and such before i never had problems

I don't trust backup programs to be able to restore my device after I've significantly changed my phone's operating system. Putting things back the way they were may have ill effects on new registry entries and such that a new ROM invariably makes. Its like saying you've upgraded your computer from Windows XP to Vista, and you want to take a tape backup to restore your software. If you want it done right you need to reinstall everything so it is configured for the new OS.

After many months of trouble free use I seem to have hit a number of issues and wonder if anyone has any suggestions. I will list them below. I don't know if they are related:-
1 The device will not switch on until either connected to the mains and/or soft reset.
2 Sudden unexpected draining of battery.
3 Random backlight changes not connected to the settings made
4 Cannot be synced with laptop Error of replog.exe
5 Battery indicators shows charging when not attached to mains.
Quite a list and rather disappointing after such trouble free previous use.

time to get a replacement
I'd hope to get more than three month's use out of a £400 plus piece of kit!!!
3 Random backlight changes not connected to the settings made
this one could be because of Phone Alarm if u have that installed
Your right, you should not have to "brick" your phone!
If you've done any mods like ROM's etc...I am of no help. As tempting as those are, I dont need the headaches that, with my luck, may happen! Thus I've avoided those completely. My Kaiser is 6 months old.
Things I would try...
Hard Reset after you backed up any data ( if possible )
If you are using Sprite Backup you can recover a previously saved system state and apps prior to your problem start date.
Your battery may be croaking causing the backlight/charging problems. Try running without the battery.
Re-install Active Sync...
Remove the SD card and see if that is causing problems
Contact HTC and/or wait till someone smarter than me chimes in
Good luck, and I hope you get it back up and stable
Thanks for the suggestions.
I never managed to get Sprite tp work so I am trying to avoid a hard reset but that may be the only option.
I suppose the reason I want to avoid this is the many programs I have on the device which of course may be causing the problems so it's a bit of a vicious circle.
I have a spare battery so I might try that.
I tried reinstalling Activsync without success.
As you say I may well have to contact HTC.
Anyway thanks for taking the time to reply.

Maybe you can get ActiveSync to work over bluetooth so you can at least back up what you need and then do a hard reset.
If a hard rest doesn't fix it i would then contact merchant/vendor to see if you can get warranty work done.
If you can't get warranty work done i would suggest flashing your ROM. You should be able to get Hard-SPL loaded and flash a ROM all from an SD card and not actually having to hook it up to your PC with active-sync.
Otherwise, if you don't want to take the risk I guess you'll have to live with the problems...but they sound pretty severe.
gl!
Didn't think of a bluetooth backup. Will try that.
Thanks for all the ideas.

be careful what you backup since the problems could be software based and restorin a backup containin these issues could put you back to where you left off
Will bear that in mind thanks

Suddenly my Sprint HTC Touch Diamond is running extremely slow. TouchFlo 3D will not start. Various things runs extremely slowly like tapping on the start menu takes like 20-30 seconds to come up.
Rebooted several times. Turned off TouchFlo. Phone's still as slow as molasses?
What to do? Flash the ROM? If so, which I'd hate to do, where do I get the original Sprint based ROM?
Update: For some reason \Windows\manilla.exe never gets run. If I run it by hand then Touch Flo comes up. But it's still kinda slow.
Who/What starts manilla.exe?
Simply do a hard reset, this will reset everything back to original rom as in a factory reset.

That would be wonderful if I didn't customize things. But I have - heavily. And I'll need to reinstall all my apps. I was hoping not to do that...

But this is the most likely reason it is running slowly... Needs a hard reset and start again - and be judicious with what you re-install.
Before doing a hard reset, have you tried a soft reset??
A soft reset for heavy users is almost required dally in some cases to release the memory from being attached to programs and the OS which is consider to be called "Memory Leaks." A typical problem for all 6.1 Roms.
This slow and sometimes unresponsive behaviour was what also experience as well. There are programs that help memory find it's home but sometimes a good old fashion soft reset is what's needed.
Last thing: Make sure that when you have flashed a new ROM to ALWAYS do a HARD RESET immediately. Not sure if you followed that procedure in your last flash. IF not, I'm afraid a soft reset might not be sufficient to remedy this issue for you.

This is exactly what I was trying to avoid. A computer doesn't suddenly go from running OK to dog slow when you have not changed anything (I only rebooted/soft reset). The running of manilla.exe doesn't suddenly disappear.
Everything I install I install for a reason.

Daily! If not hourly. WinMo is not known for being stable.

I'm well versed in what memory leaks are. 'Round here we call them bugs. Being in the business for some 30 years now I can tell you that having to reboot an OS periodically is a sign of an extremely buggy OS. Unfortunately that's what WinMo is.

There's a big difference between being slow and being suddenly SLOOOOOOOOOWWWWW.

I've yet to flash this phone. I was hoping to avoid it. There are so many ROMs to choose from, some better than others. And I'm not looking forward to having to reapply all my customizations...
i get a problem like this occasionally after a restart. I need to hit the green dial key to get it to ask my PIN. after i enter my pin everything is back to normal.
just an idea
sprite backup
What you should do is when you hard-reset the phone and you have installed all your must-have apps (and the phone still runs smoothly) use Sprite Backup to make an image. This way when things go bad again, just restore the Sprite image to that wonderful time when everything still worked smoothly and you won't have to install all the apps again. Only the apps you installed after the image ofcourse... depends how often you backup
Works like a charm.
Be careful though, when you flash another rom, you CAN'T use the Sprite image anymore!! You have to make a new image then.
Hope this helps.
just a quick one, my X1 with standard software has started to randomly reboot which is getting on my nerves!
Its also losing new messages when it does this. so any ideas before I test its bouncability on the wall
If you have installed an app recently, or can pinpoint something you've done, try to uninstall/undo that.
I would personally hard reset (search on the X1 board for the how to via the hardware keys, or just choose Clear Storage from the Settings/System menu).
Make sure you've at least sync'ed all your data to your PC first. Then connect back up, and contacts etc will be restored.
If you haven't already, try SPB backup (or Resco's , or Sprite's) - they are all time-limited trials so no problem with a quick backup-restore sequence. You can choose just about anything to backup from your device with these.
If you're feeling adventurous, consider trying one of the more popular ROMs, you won't look back!
I've tried the custom ROMs in the past but decided to go back to stock.
Already hard-reset it and was still doing it, and now I've gone to update it (its back to stock) on the SE update service and its still rebooting.
Its now stuck on the four colour screen!!! I am really hating this phone
I've now managed to get the Stock ROM on but when it comes to installing the Stock SPL both my pc brings up a blue screen (never done before) and phone dies again.
I've also noticed when I clear storage it turns off but won't come back on, only way it does come back on is by removing the battery
Any help guys??
mine kept doing this. Sent it to SE and they replaced the mobo.
yeah gone today, see what happens
Had same problem while using stock and custom roms . Then i searched xda for stable & fast rom and i did it. Not advertise but i really like 826x rom =)
