Kaiser keyboard slide sensor - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

One of my Tilts quit switching to landscape when I slide the keyboard open. I can wave a magnet across it and nothing happens so it looks like the sensor is defective. Can anyone tell me where the sensor is exactly? I would love to pickup a broken Tilt and repair/replace the sensor but I don't know where it is. Any help is appreciated.
TIA

Tilt screen not rotating and keyboard lighting up.

I just got a 2nd hand htc tytn2 today and for some reason when I slide the keyboard out it does nothing. When on the basic today screen the screen doesnt even light up! Any ideas how to fix this guys? I even went as far as flashing a cooked rom to see if its software related but hasn't made a diff. PLEASE HELP as I love my new tytn2 but whats the use if the keyboard doesn't work!
Hopefully all it is is that the cable connecting the keyboard is loose -- you'd have to search these forums for some instructions on how to take it apart and check the cable.
EDIT: or perhaps more likely is that the magnetic sensor is broken.
Man this stinks. Was really looking foward to this tytn as well. Not looking foward to taking it apart and somehow finding a replacement sensor .
Oh, by the way, the keyboard works fine, the phone just doesnt react to the slide at all
OK -- if that's the case then the most likely culprit is the magnetic sensor.
Unfortunately, I seem to recall reading on these forums that it's not easy to change. There could be a missing magnet on one side -- if you take a magnet and wave it around the phone, see if you can get it to switch to landscape mode. If it does, then that's better news -- you just have to replace the magnet to get it to work.
If not, then the sensor is broken...
Can you send it back because it's not in complete working order?

Tilt won't switch to landscape with keyboard slideout

I have a Tilt that will not switch to landscape mode when I slide the keyboard out. The light won't come on like the sensor is not recognizing the event. Is the switch mechanical or magentic? Is there an easy fix for this?
it is magnetic, to the best of my knowledge. i think there were some threads/posts about how to be sure your magnet has crapped out and/or has become misaligned...
can't quite post the links to those threads but a google initiated search within the xda forums might just give some meaningful results.
Well it looks like the sensor is out. I have a working Tilt and I can take a magnet and slide it around and it will flash to landscape. But the broken one does nothing. Anyone know where the sensor is and what it looks like and how to replace it?
Anyone? Where is this sensor and is it replaceable?

Screen don't rotate when sliding kbd out/in

Hi
I opened up the s730 all the way down to the keyboard to be able to put some glue on the broken keyboard frame.
Adfter the phone was assembled back again, the screen does not rotate when the keyboad is slided in and out.
Anybody who knows were the sensor is located?
I have the same problem, but it happened when I changed the housing.
Everything seem into place, but the d"#$%$ keyboard does not work.
Regards,
OB
I also posted about this exact issue, doesn't anyone know where the sensor is?
not all time is about a spoiled sensor because the sensor can be conected with mainboard throught the flex cable if it is broken will not work specialy when its a chase replacement , the flex cable can be damaged very easly

Keyboard Slide Magnetic Sensor -- Where is it?

Folks,
I have an AT&T Tilt that works great except the screen will not rotate when the keyboard slides open. I'm pretty sure it's the magnetic pickup since I can wave a magnet around and nothing happens. My question is: Where is the sensor located? I would be happy to replace the sensor if I knew where it was located and/or what board/component it is a part of? Please???
Did you disable the wakeup on slide??
No I didn't. Trust me it's broke.
Please??? Someone has to know where the sensor is.

G1 Keyboard Backlight

Hey folks,
Just a quick question for anyone that would know. Does anyone have any idea where the keyboard backlight is located within the G1? I have the service manual but it doesn't say anything about the keyboard backlight. Mine has not worked correctly for months (blinks/stutters on and off or stays off completely) and it's a pain to use the kb w/o the backlight.
I'd like to see if there's a torn ribbon, or a wire that's not making contact, to try to fix it, but I need to know where exactly inside the phone is the light. Anyone that can help, I'd really appreciate it.
Anyone? Bueller??
I guess EVERYONE'S keyboard backlight works fine eh?
If its defective why not send it back in to T-mobile?
Also, there may more than one light.
I'd imagine it's a series of SMD LED's.. if the whole thing flickers it could be a damaged ribbon, but if only one side flickers its probably a dry solder joint or something.. you haven't got much hope of resoldering an SMD LED if that's the case.
