Solution for flashing from Vista 64bit and postin only once
I do have the solution for your issues (specially looking the amount of posts you have done since your incorporation to XDA-Dev's):
1) Go to the top of the page, near to your username
2) Look the third link in the brown menu bar, from the right (LogOut, QuickLinks, ...)
3) That's right: this one which says "Search". Click on it.
4) Write "Flashing from Vista" in the combo which appeared
5) Read the issues with Vista and specially with Vista 64 bit or even XP 64 bit
6) You'll have the solution, and you'll have found it by yourself. That's to be proud !
6b) In some cases, you'll find it's too hard to flash from Vista and you need XP or the use of SD card ;-p

thanks buddy but actually i am using xp32. so now?

is your phone Hard spl?

That's not Win XP 32bit...
On the other side, if you use Win XP 32 bit, did you hard-SPL ? Can you put all the data about your device ? (SPL, Radio, etc.) so that we can know what is happening ?

I too had trouble flashing the default ROM on my Wing. The secret is actually to open up the official RUU application, then search your Temp folder for two NBH's, the RUU_signed.nbh, and the SPL.nbh. You need to then copy them into the RUU folder of Flash Center, run that as administrator, and make sure to flash without SD card. That's the way that I used to restore mine to stock from Hard-SPL.

Updating to WM6 ROMs on Vista

Hey All-
I'd appreciate any help anyone can offer. I am having problems updating to any of the WM6 ROMs out there (up here). One of a few things is happening:
1) Either RUU crashes just after it successfully sends my PDA in to bootloader mode, or
2) RUU is able to stay up, but for some reason, does not like the update file:
I either get an error: "This NBF file cannot be used for your PDA Phone. Please get a newer NBF file.", or
it suggests the nbf file is "corrupted", I think indicating the RUU util I am running is out of synch with what the PDA is expecting.
I'm using a T-Mobile MDA (Vario?) and Vista.
I've tried all of the solutions I have been able to find:
* changing the driver to HTC USB Sync so that it can "reconnect" once in bootloader
* various flavors of the update utility to get around the crash, which do not let me upgrade to the ROM of choice!
* hard reset of the device
* I even tried pulling down one of the ROM upgrades from the T-Mobile dowloads site and dropping that in with a WM6 ROM nbf file. That was a huge flop.
I know people have done this! I've seen it over and over again. So what in the world stupid thing am I doing to not make this work?
Thanks.

RUU doesnt work on Vista. Use shelltool.
Thanks for the advice. I'm sure it was good advice, but I am three hours in to it running now, and I don't have a good feeling about it. I think it says it would take at least 15 minutes. Not 180! Ugh, now I wonder what I should do?

How do you do that? Thank you because when i try to downgrade my ROM or w/e so that i can unlock it when i gots to bootloader the fred green blue thingy it doesnt reconnect to active sync and maybe thats my probelm...=[
chaos, just look around for the RUU with Vista instructions- they are everywhere!
hey mate,
just follow this instructions http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=252977 to falsh every official ROM under MS Vista. Surely, when it comes to WM6 you gotta use the Shelltool.

Answer for Vista
My question is why don't people just dual boot vista with xp or 2000/etc...that would solve a lot of issues about the problems with vista.. just boot to xp..
I figure if you have the $Funds$ to spend on a $250+ phone you could shell out $50 for a 150gb 16mb cache HDD for your pc and dual/tri/quad/etc... sheeet son i've been doing this for years with linux/m$/mac.
Gotta face it, some software just runs better on one OS over another. peace out.

I tried it, took like 6 minutes then it was completed, knowingly it wasnt flashed right, but did the hard reset on the phone and was stuck at the SPL screen, so just loaded up VMWare to reflash.
It worked for me...
I flashed one of the WM6 ROMs using my Vista Ultimate computer. One of the main parts in making the thing work is remembering to put your computer in bootloader before doing it. On post #7 in the MoDaCo thread, it says this.
Once more, here is the link: http://www.modaco.com/RUU-on-Vista-It-can-be-done-the-ultimate-guide-t252977.html
so your saying witht hat tut you flash a custom rom??
Yes
Yes I was able to. I don't remember which, but I think i was Core 2.0
Yeah, I was able to use shelltool to make this happen. Thanks for the feedback, folks. Only hang up was that it had appeared to have seized up (was seemingly stuck before the "End" portion). I waited for like 3 hours before I finally threw up my hands and hard reset the unit. Low and behold my wizard booted up in to the new ROM and I have been good to do since!

Big Problem?

I was performing the radio update on my MDAIII and now he hangs in the bootloader with USB in the upper middle und 2.08 in the under middle. All resets won`t bring it back to life. If I try to reinstall the update all I get is a blank message screen (update from version to version) in my Vista. How can I get out of there.
I did everything what was stated here
The original BAUpgradeUT won`t find my device. The MAUpgradeUt_noID.exe gives me the blank screen with the update from to screen.

I'm using a Vista PC.
After the Radio update to 1.15 the error described above is not to go away yet.
What to do, I'm nearly in tears.
Finally I got it back but with an old Romupdate from T-Online. Is there someone who got the QTC 9090 update (latest one)
That was fast..
im glad you solved your problem.
i think someone here has it.
just post what you need and make it as a title for others to read in the digest.

Most likely.
Failed MDA II flash with vista notebook
Hello everybody,
I just read this thread in hope to find a solution for my problem, which is quite similar to the one described here initially.
I got a used MDA III with T_Mobile ROM. Since I'm a customer with O2, I wanted to change the ROM to O2 as well. I followed the directions given in an other thread here (don't have the link just now) and during the flashing, the flash application suddenly had no connection to my MDA III anymore. It was securely settled in its craddle an connected to my laptop via USB. Now my MDA III is stuck in Bootloader Mode with USB v2.07 displayed on the screen.
Each retry of installing either the O2 or the T_Mobile ROM now meet with the error 101: no connection. I read here that you managed to update successfully with a vista pc. Thus I wanted to ask, how you did that since I just don't seem to find the reason for the connection failing each time.
Here is what i tried to establish connection so far:
* disabled virus scanner & firewall
* unplugged the mda III and plugged it in again. It was recognized as a new device but that didn't help the connection issue
Could you please post what you did to make the update work under vista? Help would be greatly appreciated

Try on computer with Windows XP and kill activesynk (wcecomm.exe on taskmanager/processes)
Maybe it will work. If u cant flash O2 ROM try to use "MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe". On my Qtek 9090 allways flash using this APPS and allways work.
U can try too format device first, put it on candle and use "mtty1.42.exe". On XP, kill active sync, and open mtty1.42.exe and select port USB and put OK. Do "Enter" on command and should appear USB>. After this write Task 28. This will format all your PC. Try install SO after this. This command delete all files on PPC. I have attach files that you maybe need.
thankfor the tipp and sorry for my late reply. Since I have no XP PC available i tried the mtty1.42.exe on my vista notebook. When i run it however, it only lists com port 1-3, no usb port. Do i have to make a special configuration on vista for it to work?
Thanks in advance,

In vista i dont know...sorry for my late reply too.... in XP u must kill ActiveSync process called wincecom.exe. in vista, maybe u have to kill the Windows Mobile Device Center....i dont know...
Dont forget, put the Qtek 9090 in Boot Loader Mode (Pressing Power Button + Record Button + Reset), maybe will appear USB and u can format the device.
If this does not work, try on Windows XP....Find a friend with Windows XP and ask him to use his PC only to do that.
Maybe somebody in forum have the Windows Vista and can help u....
Sorry my terrible english....

Try this
Downlaod the XDA IIs .exe file and run it - no need to put into USB mode

this should reset to factory default (o2)
it runs on vista too

Stuck with Vista

I cannot get any thing to work with Windows Vista. I never had problems with XP and my other Wizard. I had it replaced through the insurance. Please help me. I have been through the threads claiming to have some way of tricking Vista with old drivers. I have installed them and had no change. Read all the threads!!
So Dont do it!!!
Man some versions work some doesnt... TRY XP men if you dont have problems since your first Wizard and xp use.
Dont be in panic mode, is not prooved even if many thread said that.
I'm just pissed, i had a great ROM running on my old phone. now i am stuck with a computer running Vista Ultimate and Mobile 5 on he replacement phone. I was hoping somebody found a way to run these Roms through Vista successfully.
Vista support for Windows Mobile is really hit and miss, it works for some, and not at all for others....your best bet is finding a friend with XP and upgrading it there.
Not G4 specific, moved > Upgrading
i use vmware with an xp image to mod my phone, i run vista x64.
Upgrade vista with all available service packs then download the latest version of WMDC from microsoft
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/device-center.mspx#download
and try flashing then
If you still have problems try replacing the ruuupgrade files with Muns ones and use these to flash http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=52404&d=1190997171
if that doesnt work then you havent done what i just said

I cannot flash my Wizard now that I have Vista 64-bit. I have followed many different methods that I have found on XDA in the last few days. I've downloaded and ran many different RUU tools, nothing gets me past the RUU crashing.
The one problem that I get hung up on is while installing a new driver for the Pocket PC (wceusbshx64.inf) in device manager I get the error message that the driver is not signed, I click next anyways. I then get the following message "The driver may be corrupt or missing (Code 39)".
Any other ideas? I'm having flashing withdrawals.............
Thank you for your help
Anyone that knows away to get around the above problems? Luckily I still have my XP computer upstairs, so I can still flash new roms. But I would like to keep it all on one computer (Vista)
Thanks

Upgrade to 6 stuck on windows loading

Hi,
I got given a couple of Treo 750 phones. Both on the Optus Australian Network so I scratched around for days and found the upgrade software. Shows update 2.27
1st one went perfect.
2nd one on same computer got through copying files and executing update and stalled at the start of completing update.
I got the Windows mobile screen show and it just was not loading for ages. Previous one loaded and then asked for input of Date, touch screen settings etc.
The installer can be re run but says no USB connection at the moment.
I have done a hard reset and get the palm display then locks on the Windows Mobile screen.
I saw procedures to use the Mini SD card but the cards I have won't work in any treo, they are not SDHC type but standard 2G ones.
I next found the recovery tool but holding the left lower button and then hitting reset did not work but does work on my good phone where it shows the coloured bars and SPL....
The left button is a bit dodgy so I suspect it may be faulty. Is there anything else I can try?
EDIT: Ok I pulled apart the phone, looks like it had a hard life as broken case around two screws and they would not unscrew easily. Found the tiny button had dry solder joints. Fixed that up and was able to recover using the reset proceedure.
Phone now working.
could you explain in more detail what you did. thanks man

What would you like to know?
Once I physicaly repaired the phone as indicated in the edit I was able to hold the left hand button (which was faulty) and the reset at the same time that allowed me to get into the SPL mode and recover the phone.
I understand it very little and most posts on these forums are over my head.
I would like windows 6.1 but there is so much information that seems to conflict that I don't know I am game since it is now working on an official 6.0 Optus version.
I am happy to help but if you can maybe tell me where you are at the moment and what you want to acheive and what you have tried I hope I can fill in the gaps for you.
because im new to this to and i got stuck in the windows screen also. so i would like to know what to download and where from and step by step if you could please.
thanks man

Ok to start with what country are you in and what telco were you with eg Vodafone etc as you will need that as a start.
USA and im with AT&A
Try the method describe in the thread below - Mine work
Hi, you might want to try this method
Follow it one by one and do not skip a step
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=460783
I just did mine last Saturday (it was a Vodafone phone)
AT&T should be easier since the Windows 6 ROM is easier to get
If you'd like to update to WM 6.1, you should upgrade first to WM 6
Something i read about the radio not working to full capacity if you upgrade straight to 6.1
As for the WM 6 ROM, i'm sure you can find it
Good luck
Hi All,
I have a Treo 750 and it WAS running WM 6.0 Professional (OFFICIAL) and I got it onto the phone and then tried to install WM 6.5 and then I downgraded to 5.0 and tried to update back to 6 and it bricked my treo, any of you wonderful xda ppl have any solution?
Also, I have tried installing the ROM again (via SD updater) and it looks like this:
SPLASH1 OK
BOOTLOAD OK
GSM OK
Micro P OK
EXTROM FAIL
OS
Update Terminate
UPDATE FAIL
I cant install the windows installer one as WMDC 6.1 or ActiveSync 4.5 WILL NOT show the device up on the computer. I have Windows Vista Home Basic, and when I tried MTTY, the only ports I get are COM1, COM2, and COM3. I can't get the usb to show up. Even with MTTY 0.01 when I got the USB connection, it would not open. Is it Vista? Or am I not doing it right? ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED TO GET MY POOR TREO BACK!!!!!!!!!
Thanks

Is this universal (i.e. Hermes/BA/Trinity) or just for the Treo 750. I think what bricked it in the first place was installing a custom rom by veisen (WM 6.5)

[Q] ROM Flashing from PC on Mac - not working

I am trying to flash the ROM on my Touch Pro 2 before I sell it. I am running windows XP on a mac using Parallels 5.0. I have tried running the ROM update when active sync is connected and all starts ok then I get error 226 saying cannot connect. I then tried flashing straight from a newly FAT32 formatted microSD card and that jsut stocks on with a Loading message. So I tried flashing Hardspl, although I think that I have done this before when I still had a pc, but that failed with a connection error too. Any tips/advice anyone?
You need to provide more information. Are you trying to flash a custom ROM, and which one? What ROM are you running now? What version of the phone do you have/what carrier?
If you are still HardSPLed, the second line of text on the bootloader (tri-color) screen will say "OliNex", probably saying "SPL-0.85.Olinex". If it doesn't say this, the SPL is locked, and you won't be able to flash a custom ROM.
If you are trying to flash the stock ROM, I think some people have been having trouble doing so with the phone HardSPLed. But it may depend on what stock ROM. I am able to flash the Euro stock ROM just fine on my HardSPLed phone.
ok, i'll try to answer your request for more info:
trying to flash Energy Rom build 23699.
Existing ROM version is listed as 2.07.401.1 (80303) WME dated 2/4/10.
Phone is an unbadged HTC Touch Pro 2 as sold by Tmobile etc in UK.
Can't see any mention of OliNex on bootloader screen, so perhaps I didn't unlock= it after all. Certainly no T mobile stuff left on the phone now.

Don't know off hand what ROM that you have installed right now. What do the boot screens look like when you start the phone? Also, what does the bottom row of red letters say, when you startup the phone?
If it doesn't say Olinex on the bootloader screen, you are not HardSPLed. Either you never did it, or you relocked it.
Run HardSPL, and you should be able to flash from the SD card no problem.
Redpoint. Thanks for your replies and interest. I have tried to run HardSpl but this fails with a 260 connection error, even though Activsync is synced and connected. Id this to do with running a virtual pc on a mac perhaps?
Your welcome, hope my advice is helpful.
HardSPL is pretty finicky, even on Windows Vista and Windows 7 systems. I think running it on a Mac is difficult or even impossible. You can search the HardSPL thread and see if anyone was able to get it to run on Mac. I'm pretty sure I read different users on that thread mentioning issues with running HardSPL on Mac.
My best advice would be to run HardSPL on a friend's Windows XP system, if possible. It usually runs smoothly on XP, and only takes a couple minutes.
Yes, that confirms my suspicions. I will try it frommy partners windows XP netbook whenshe gets home. Fingers crossed.
Will let you know how I get on and if I need any more help!
