... or is this it for the Xperia? Is the product officially dead or can we expect anything to come?
There will be definitely one more firmware. German telephone support told that to several people; maybe still in August they say.
Have a look to the relaunched official korean x1-page - then you'll see that it has definitely not died yet.

What are you expecting in an update? I wouldn't hold my breath for another update. SE barely supported the X1 when it was their only top phone. Now that X2 and X3 are coming, I find it even more doubtful we'll get something new for the X1.
All is not lost. The X1 isn't bad as-is though.

well ... win 6.5 would be cool =) .. and maybe full confirmed versions of the stuff that leaked months ago e.g. like new panel manager ... then maybe a few more panels ... I dont know.. general improvements .. the phone is only 9 months or so old and for a premium product I feel like there should be a bit more support for it.
I just think its been awfully quiet the last couple of weeks. I would like to hear from Itje again if he has a chance given that he is a SE insider. Maybe he can give us some information as to what we can expect.

Please do correct me if I'm wrong, but since R3A firmware is out I have not experienced any bug or problem. It also bring us more features.
So, I do not see the need to have released a new firmware better than R3A.

be better if some of the SE applications were smoother
i cant expect another rom as R3a is pretty much sorted all the issues. however it was dissapointing not to get the new panel manager and panels also the updated camera software,
I would say that the leaked supposed R3A stuff will be in the X2 or racheal but no more for the X1, this would be nnice though
Im happy and not chasing any updates, the X1 does not overheat, lag or hang in my opinion so no issues to resolve for me.
Yes I'm sure the leaked stuff was for X2.
leaked videos of the X2 show the new panel manager. It is also advertised that the X2 will contain new panels.
well the r3 software does have bugs in it. opera no longer smooth scrolls using the optical joystick for one, and the screen still freezes every now and then too.
basically i found the upgrade from r2 to r3 was a downgrade. i didn't have any problems before running r2.
before you consider the rom buggy, you have to look at all your apps and tweaks...my screen never froze on me and i do not have any bugs and i am running r3a, i dont even have to reset my device unless i am trying some new incompatible software...
as long as you put something on ur device from a 3rd party source, you alter the way it operates, may be slower, buggy or even both...my r3a is stable as ever
^^^ Yes, that's been my experience too. Whenever something doesn't seem right, I start looking at which third-party app is causing the issue. I don't blame the ROM or the OS. They're probably the most stable of everything we put in our phones.
i am facing the same problem. my earlier update was better in all aspects. R3 actually felt more of a downgrade than upgrade.
Feel free to go back to R2A. If I had a worse feeling with R3A compared to R2A then I would simply downgrade. Where is the problem?

I'm new to HTC and I have now had the Diamond for around 3 weeks, I do understand that no device is perfect when it is first released, actually no device is perfect . Later down the track I'm hopefull updates will be released to rectify some of these bugs we are experiencing! (especially the RAM leak, it's just plain nasty)
Now what is HTC like with there support, what is there timeframe with updates and new firmwares etc. ?
If you look to the kaiser then it will be a year from the release date.
I have no idea but have you checked HTCs website for any rom updates??. A forum member mentioned that there is a new rom out 1.35 i think. Best thing to do is head over to HTC and see if they have any updated roms or check in the rom section of this forum.

Wow, thats nice, by that time i'll already have a new phone and then waiting another year for its updates.
it's just a vicious circle.

Yeh, i checked the site, HTC e-club Hong Kong, no ROM love there.
I hope that HTC will release updates on a more frequently basis, since HTC tried to make the Touch Diamond a real iPhone killer. Weather or not they succeeded in this goal, is open to discussion, but they will loose the battle for sure, if they don't manage to keep the customers happy.
One of the ways to keep the customers happy is to make sure they don't have to wait for almost a year on new updates. The phone was only recently released, so I'm not surprised that is has some minor issues here and there. I would be surprised if it would take months for the first update to appear, since there is more than enough feedback.
Yo HTC guys! Are you reading this? I'm afraid not...
I have insider info that the TFLO3D is being revised for better performance due to lag. We should see a ROM soon, either from me or HTC.
Hi guys, bought mine last week and my ROM ver is 1.35.
What do u guys have?
I have ROM 1.35 - seem to have many fewer issues than some others on here - e.g. TF3d reasonably respnsive without tweak, no excesive heat, very good voice qulity (inbound and outbound) on the phone, wife works fine etc.
The latest ROM is 1.37 but still not available at e-club for download, if your country do have a HTC service center then you can give them a visit to upgrade.
Just called t-Mobile trying to get my handset replaced, I was told they are working with HTC and release a new software update. I guess this means a new ROM grade? Hopefully radio upgrade as well.

I have been very tempted to flash using a cooked rom, but there is a slight issue with me screen, a ghosting effect. Doesn;t affect the phone just a bit annoying. Just incase i need to send it back, that's why i haven;t flashed it yet.
I'll wait for the offical ROM release, see if this fixes my phone issue.
Anybody have some official news?
Normally TMob are notoriously slow at releasing new ROMs!
yea my MDA is slow and lacks long battery life but i'm scared to flash a cooked wrong as i've never done it before! I'm pretty into this stuff anyway (flashed ipod touch [+ dev for it] and my psp etc) so i know the basics, but is it really risk free, apart from the obvious stupid things?

Fella.. to be straight with you... HTC and T-Mobile SUCK when it comes to Roms.... They will NEVER beat what the guys from xda do with these Roms...
Try either Panosha "shine 1.6" with radio 08 or bepe's with the same radio ROM
you will be totally shocked with how fast these guys cooked Roms are...!
P.s And yes i do own a MDA iv on t-mobile...! and believe me the stock Rom SUCKS..!

Tmobile are planning a rom upgrade any day, the compact iv is actually out of stock beacuse the latest batch has been sent back to have the rom applied, so its doubtful you would get an exchange done in the next couple of days anyway.
Normally tmobile drag their heels with rom upgrades but I think the level of returns has meant that they need to do something and quick.
I'm on my 3rd compact iv but exchanging has been a nightmare as the exchange kept failing due to low stock, so chances are if you went for an exchange now you wouldnt get the handset replaced for a week or 2.
Hopefully the rom upgrade will fix your problems. You can of course flash a rom from here which are so much better, but some like to stick to the stock rom for warranty reasons.
For more info see this thread over at modaco I spoke to tmob for over 30 mins to get this info from them so Imm really hoping rom upgrade will be soon : http://www.modaco.com/content/diamond-diamond-modaco-com/271679/t-mobile-mda-compact-iv-recall/

I hate to disappoint you but that isn't true. There is no Compact IV ROM update in development. The next time you see a ROM update for this device it will be Windows Mobile 7, if at all.
Upgrades and warranty exchange stock are seperate entities, and the returns of the Compact IV are not really much higher than the average with any other phone.
Strange how you're on your third considering their' policy is to repair following the first exchange.

I have only used two cooks Rom, Panosha and bepe's. I personally thinks these two guys are the best cooks.. (some may disagree)
Look for Panosha "Shine on 1.6" and use with radio 5 or 8
Look for bepe's rom if i remember its called "belite" again use with radio 5 or 8.
Also remember use MUST use a hardspl rom before flashing radio and main Rom.
Believe me fella you wont get a stock Rom running faster than these two cooks mentioned above...!
Good luck and ENJOY...!
P.s Don't forget to buy the guys a beer...!

First off you need a Hardspl rom......

3rd choose your cooked rom

Do you have insider information? Since HTC already have a new ROM for the diamond, i guess it would be fairly straigh forward for T-Mobile to adopt this and customize to the horrible pink colour!
"We picked up on a couple of rumours from yesterday that an official X1 Windows Mobile 6.5 rom had surfaced on XDA developers. Just wanted to be clear that this isn’t true.
There is no official X1 6.5 rom and it’s not in the X1’s product roadmap. There are hackers out there who can do pretty much anything, but unless you’re getting it from the SE update service it isn’t an official Sony Ericsson product."
Source:
http://xperiancers.com/2009/09/10/x1-upgrade-not-in-the-roadmap/
Wait and see...
But even if they work on it, they will try to keep it secret as long as possible
But if they keep us waiting and it never does come.....
SE dont want to advertise that 6.5 is coming to x1 because they want people to get the x2 with 6.5 - after the x2 has been out for a while then they might release a 6.5 update to x1 i guess
hm... smells fishy. I wonder if Itje cares to comment on this.
No love for the X1 -- anyway...it looks like SE is ditching WM platform...
http://mobilitysite.com/2009/09/will-the-xperia-x2-be-the-last-winmo-device-from-sony-ericsson/
I was skeptical to begin with when itje announced his new ROM was being based on an official Xperia 6.5 leak.
Could be an X2 beta ROM.
Will it be possible to purchase 6.5 direct from MS and install on X1?
jhendra they said the same thing as well about the x1 sooooo...
"Will it be possible to purchase 6.5 direct from MS and install on X1?"
no ms never sold wm or windows CE to end users as it's without any drivers
so end users would never be able to make it work unless they had the platform builder
and all the drivers 100% matching the device they owned

So, you can also easily forget it too.
Hard to believe for me.

see why i wont buy the x2, SE screwed us all over with the x1, who said they wont do it again

Well, I don't feel sooooo screwed...
My phone works fine, I'm not dying for upgr.
But anyway - we'll see when WM6.5 is out,
too early to speak.
well i feel screwed, they managed to give the x2 drivers for a smooth panel interface and look at us idiots with a choppy panel manager, btw did i say the hardware is the same?
if they dont update our x1, u bet i wont be buying another SE device, i should have learned my lesson from the P series
Actually nobody said that there is an official X1-ROM with WM6.5 avaliable until now, itje didn't as well...
Itje just announced that he's got an official X1-WM6.5-kernel and some new OEM drivers. That makes the chance for a real official WM6.5-ROM via SEUS for X1 much more likely then before, we think.
as much as we all would love 6.5 upgrade, i think the most important upgrade the x1 could get is a smoother panel interface and new panels, even if its on wm 6.1
why is it that korea got spb mobile shell 3 and xtrakt?
what is so special about the korean xperia market than everyone else in the world?
i wont be surprised either if korea got the update we are looking for either lol
anyway, u have to admit, SE support is very very poor...i will wait and see what the next few months will bring...i dont intend to buy a new device just for a service pack upgrade which wm 6.5 really should be...
as i said, we dont have to get the 6.5, but damn, fix our damn 6.1 panel interface and give us more panels
if they dont upgrade the x1 to 6.5 then theres no way i am getting a x2 because it just shows how poor their after sale support is...

same unfourtunatley - custom roms are only good for me for seeing what should be released officially one day
all 6.5 roms have problems
I'd like to get the 6.5 upgrade to utilize Marketplace.
I know it's been stated it will support 6.1 also but let's face it, it's a developer based app stream and I don't imagine we'll see too many developers using 6.1 anymore.
me too i tried and ended back with seus rom
Have unbranded Rhodium, it came with 1.19.401.0. There is an updated ROM, 1.19.401.1.
There weren't a lot of fixes lists on HTC's website, can anyone mention any changes they have noticed? Apparently there is a bugfix for the shown ammount of RAM but other than that looks pretty useless to me.
I just don't want to upgrade the ROM and have to re-install everything unless it will actually help me...

Hey all!
I just got a new kaiser, currently am using a clean 6.5 rom.
I've been searching the internet for the past few days because my phone runs programs slowly, the scrolling is laggy (compared to my asus p535 witch is 3 years old). I found out that it has some drivers missing for it to run smoothly, but all the info i found is like two years old like 2008 may or so... I found that 3d drivers are available but the 2d are not yet fixed. Since this information is 2 years old i thought maybe someone can update me slightly? are the drivers fixed now? or will i never have the opportunity to enjoy my new device as a powerfull pocket pc?
Thanks in advance.

No award982, your phone does not sucks!
First the reason for your mobile programs run slowly does not mean that you are needing to change the drivers!
I have a Kaiser and it works very fast! In my experiences with several different versions of ROM, Windows Mobile 6.5 always ran slower than the 6.1!
I do not recommend trying to install any drive other than that already comes in its ROM. You have to find a ROM that works perfectly as you want!
I can recommend you 2 ROM for Kaiser: ( this is what I liked )
WinMo 6.1 (I use this)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=545821
WinMo 6.5 (the best 6.5 we've tested)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=543276
And remember to use HardSPL and Radio recommended by the chef!
thanks, i feel better now
I am also thinking, maybe android fixes the problem?
And mine doesn't run that slow, its just the bug with the touchscreen is that i cant stand...

You can find a lot of stuff that can help with touchscreen sensitivity and smoother scrolling, just search for it. Try Advanced configuration tool and KaiserTweaks, they got lots of useful tweaks. Dont give up, Kaiser is a great phone, when you set it by your taste, you~ll see!
