drivers... - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Hey all!
I just got a new kaiser, currently am using a clean 6.5 rom.
I've been searching the internet for the past few days because my phone runs programs slowly, the scrolling is laggy (compared to my asus p535 witch is 3 years old). I found out that it has some drivers missing for it to run smoothly, but all the info i found is like two years old like 2008 may or so... I found that 3d drivers are available but the 2d are not yet fixed. Since this information is 2 years old i thought maybe someone can update me slightly? are the drivers fixed now? or will i never have the opportunity to enjoy my new device as a powerfull pocket pc?
Thanks in advance.

or will i never have the opportunity to enjoy my new device as a powerfull pocket pc?

There is a reason there is no updates to be found.

what do you mean?

lol
I mean that there isn't any sort of post about it because there is nothing to post about. I quoted the answer from your post that applies to what you want to know.
The new roms have the lastest and greatest of things mixed in. The phone is going to run slow foreeeeevvvvvveerrrrrrr.....

i cant believe it, i just got a new phone and wow, it sucks...

The phone is 3 years old, not new by any standard.

No award982, your phone does not sucks!
First the reason for your mobile programs run slowly does not mean that you are needing to change the drivers!
I have a Kaiser and it works very fast! In my experiences with several different versions of ROM, Windows Mobile 6.5 always ran slower than the 6.1!
I do not recommend trying to install any drive other than that already comes in its ROM. You have to find a ROM that works perfectly as you want!
I can recommend you 2 ROM for Kaiser: ( this is what I liked )
WinMo 6.1 (I use this)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=545821
WinMo 6.5 (the best 6.5 we've tested)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=543276
And remember to use HardSPL and Radio recommended by the chef!

thanks, i feel better now
I am also thinking, maybe android fixes the problem?
And mine doesn't run that slow, its just the bug with the touchscreen is that i cant stand...

You can find a lot of stuff that can help with touchscreen sensitivity and smoother scrolling, just search for it. Try Advanced configuration tool and KaiserTweaks, they got lots of useful tweaks. Dont give up, Kaiser is a great phone, when you set it by your taste, you~ll see!

Should I shouldn't I

Question to all you with this stunner of a phone already.
Is it as slow as everyone say's it is.?
Does importing any of the roms available make any difference to the speed?
Should I hold out for the pro? (T-Mobile Vario IV) Though I hate the T-mobile branding and white screen. I presume I will be able to replace the rom.
Your expertease guidance is needed in me making a quick decision.
Thanks guys/gals
Between Diamond and Diamond Pro,it's all a matter of size, keyboard and battery.
Anyway, this is a great device, the best I've had if I may say so. I had also many other HTC before this one, and this Diamond is a master piece
No,it's not slow. It's not hyper-fast as well. But it's far from saying it's not usable because it's slow.
As a matter of fact, even with original ROM inside, it's the fastest HTC I've tried until now... (I tried almost all HTC since the old Qtek S100).
So, if you want my advice: buy one NOW,and join us with our problems, and our solutions, but always having a great time here
HastaSSSS
He is totally right, I have had quit some htc devices already and by far this is the fastest.
What many people or complaining about is the touch3d today interface that is lagging. but the device its self is quit impressive. To have that technology in such a compact device, is all my dream come true...
I really love the device, and the only problem is the battery for me. But i saw that soon there will be a battery with 1100mha for it, so i am waiting for it...
I assume you've had a WM device before?
If you remove touchflo its actually a very very fast device. With touchflo its quite slugish.
With european ROM 1.37.401.3, I found TouchFlo surprisingly fast
Give it a shot,in case you haven't done so already.

I've tried all the roms and multiple tweaks. I'm no stranger to playing in the registry! What i've found is:
1) Touchflo is not very intuitive. Its show over function, and its too slow to get to where you need to go quickly.
2) Its far too easy to press the wrong thing in touchflo and the screen feels like its not sensative enough to deal with finger navigation.
3) At times touchflo just freezes, or lags - yes in every rom with every tweak. This makes problem 2) even worse and leads to frustration.
BUT..
I've found that the touch screen actually is good enough, and after changing the pressure to 240 (or even 50 to 60) it works great in everything except touchflo. Touchflow has its on finger pressure setting which doesnt seem to make much difference.
When using other navigation programs like pointui or mobile shell there are no lags, and you can actually use the phone properly. In fact mobile shell is so fast it feels comparable to an iphone.
Touchflo is ok, but in my opinion needs alot more tweaking and i may come back to it in a few months, but for now i'm using mobileshell.

Yup, no noticeable lag. TF3D is VERY useable now, IMHO.
Thanks for the pro's and con's from you real users.
I have been with XDA for the past 3 years had many flavours of win mobile devices and many HTC phones in the past and I know to only ask them in know to get the truth so a big thanks.
Think I will wait and see what T-Mobile UK offers and opt for the pro for the keyboard and extra battery life.
thanks again

well... the diamond it self is realy fast (as every1 says so)
the TouchFlo3D is not bad , its actualy great (1.01630.30)
battery life on the other hand was an issue - it seems it leveled off now i can safely say mine lasts

It can be instaled using unsigned hardSPL - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=400950 or original SPL from HTC(maybe regionally dependent)
If there is no request already, you can ask for signed version here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=400411
i spent 48 hours with my diamond now, didn't modd to much now,
because i am waiting for a rom that fits my needs.
Nevertheless i really love my new baby..
(alltough most people complain about the battery-power i have to say after i did some tweaking as written down somewhere here, it is not that bad)
btw. Touchflow feels qouite snappy compared with my old wizard an UL..^^

Hermes to Kaiser - Hi

Hi all,
Finally did it and got myself a Kaiser. Long time Hermes user/supporter.
Im busy reading all the faq's and wiki but what do you suggest i have a look at in roms?
I know CRC's/DVTs were preferential in Hermes dont know enough about Kaiser cooks yet, although i do see a few of the older names that have moved on.
Im in Aus, and this phone is stock so im going to have to do radio as well.
Glad to meet you and hope to be an active contributor here as well.
Try them all, that's what I did... till I settled with one I personally liked. There is no risk involved once phone is completely sim/security unlocked, just time...
Mate,
Enjoy your new phone I did the same change about 6 months ago.
I am in Melbourne and have tried a big selection of the roms available.
Firstly use Kaiser Unlocker to hardspl sim/cid unlock.
Then Jumpspl to change to hardspl 3.56
My suggestion would be try the Garmin1.2 rom or version 2 if it is out when you check.
Try the radio that loads with this rom or
Change to neon 1.65.24.36
This setup works great for my location with no problems that I have noticed..
Have Fun
Thanks Halon,
My 2 specialities was Media Centers and Hermes programming. So I feel and I guess that I am back to noob status
Its great to get a point in the right direction.
Reading the Wiki's and it seems like alot more info/processes than the old Hermes.
Everyones a noob at something.
There is a lot of information here and dare I say it a lot of it can be confusing and a bit disjointed but I am sure with your previous experience with the Hermes you'll be flying real soon.
UPDATE -
Reading vast amounts of information in one night - I have configured the Kaiser with Garmin's 2 ROM!
Halon .. i have done all of your suggestions and everything is working well. (Except for MSVC which slowed down the entire ROM for some reason), Uninstalled that and I am now back to normal. Wierd.
Ill now have to see which of my heremes cabs do work and what cabs dont work ..
Im also looking forward to reading about the video card driver problem .. will have to google that thread.
Cheers all.
TEST (now with a Kaiser)
I did the switch from Hermes to Kaiser about 2 months ago, so far all of the cabs I had used on my Hermes are working on my Kaiser.

I think is better if u use cabs specifiec for kaizer, u can find then in signatures from Senior members or moderators,( like P1tater, Skatdawg, etc) or just ask that someone is going to point u inthe right direction.
Welcome, Test. I'm not yet switched, used both currently. Long story behind it, back then my jasjam was dropped and having the whitescreen and d-pad issues. Need months to repair it, and I need a PDA so I bought Kaiser.
Anyway, just to inform that most of my hermes cabs collection are working on kaiser. The problem is not with the device, but rather on the WM version. My experience, many apps don't run well on 6.1, like skype etc, some not even run at all. Some already have an update which works, and some doesn't.
Short, it's better to always looking for the latest stable build apps, if you can. The problem is, most of them are scattered around forums here. Not necessarily only in Kaiser forum. Good luck, mate.
p.s: yet i must admit, you're posting in a slightly incorrect forum...

The problem is Qualcomm. Crappy company from the ground up.
I think there is a phone coming out that has a Marvell Chip in it. 624mhz sound good to you with a Overclocking up to 800mhz.
I have been switching back and forth between the two phones, I got to say that the Hermes is a better overall phone, I am not that impressed with the tilt whats so ever....
Hm.You sure it's not HTC who did the crapping, ATW? Not that i don't agree with you, but just want your further enlightment, sir ;-)
For me, a layman, i have heard Qualcomm for quite some time, maybe even longer than HTC (at least for brand recognition). And i heard that they held many patents on cdma technology too. Not sounds too crappy for me, is it?
I remember having discussed in general forum,Menneissys told me that some of the codes are actually optimized in msm7200 than Hermes 'outdated' samsung processor. For example in bluetoth aadp streaming. Though i must admit that the ATI Imageon on Hermes make it faster for graphic apps.
Btw, is it energy efficient to have processor running over 600mhz?

Ohhh YES, definitely.
The best proof was when I had to send my Kaiser for repair, going back to the Hermes was awful. Such a slow brick, I simply hard reset it and left it with nothing installed at all and was using it as a phone only, couldn't bear fiddling with it after having had the Kaiser for a moment. Even that way it was 2-3x slower than the Kaiser.

I'm very happy that Qualcomm holds patents in CDMA, but what does that have to do with performance of a chip?
Let's just put it this way. Marvell used to be a Intel company. I much rather put my money / faith in a company that is the #1 producer of chips.
My Samsung 400mhz chip gave me better performance. Heck my TI OMAP 250mhz was just as good as this Qualcomm crap!

It is when the chip is smaller and requires less energy to run. I'm not sure what the nm is on the Marvell chip but I know that the talk time will be increased by over 2 hours which is a pretty significant improvement by up to 50%. How's that for energy efficient?

o yea? My Hermes has not had even one reset running V3G's rom, yet I have to do several with the Kaiser although that maybe contributed to the roms not being debugged completly....
As to the GPS, its great for those who do not spent a lot of time using it as a cell phone, try using the GPS and talking on the phone via BT and driving for a living , maybe you will see just how great and useful the GPS is... not to mention the battery life....pssfft
I use my X51v as a GPS/w a BT unit where it sits in a holder right in line of my eye sight which is also my MP3 player hooked directly into my alpine .
Oh yea how about the how the buttons are located on the Hermes vs the kaiser ? look just how close they are on the Kaiser , they missed the boat on that...the layout is very poor...
Now do not get me wrong the Kaiser is a good unit, but it is lacking in many areas.

Yep. On the Hermes I could never use the center "enter" button without pressing 1 or 2 of the direction buttons at the same time and had to repeat my press everytime to get it right... with the Kaiser the buttons finally serve some purpose again.

For the real support 800x400 we have to wait for WM7.x
Hi SatScan. Can you elaborate please? Are you saying that in fact it won't be easy to update the HD to WM6.5, but we'll need to wait until WM7? Do you think WM7 is likely to be much more resource intensive, such that the memory and CPU of the HD wont be adequate?

Windows Mobile 6.1 supports WVGA already, so why 6.5 should not support it?
Yesterday I've tried the beta WM6.5 build that is floating on the web. I hope that what I've seen is all due to the beta state of the build.
Many many things don't work. For example, g-sensor doesn't work, camera doesn't work, all "not hardware buttons"(phone button, home button...), work like softkey...
But I've to say that yesterday was only a try, I've done all in a speedy way. I'll try other things in these days. I hope these things can be fixed.

Yes, but as I've said for now all it's really buggy. The principal problem is that autorun doesn't work with this build, then many things releted to it don't work.
In addition, I've tried to use some of the cabs to make working the new WM6.5 today but for now it doesn't work, when I install them I do a soft reset then the device freeze before opening the today, same thing if I cook they directly into the rom. I've tried in different ways but for now nothing to do.
But I'll see what I can do in the next days.

Good news from Microsoft for Himalaya owners...

According to Endgadget Mobile, Microsoft has the following hardware specs for Windows Mobile 6.5:
Microsoft's issued a clarification regarding upgrades from 6.1 to 6.5: devices that are already out in the marketplace with a minimum of 128MB of RAM and a 400MHz processor or better are theoretically capable of being upgraded

Doesn't mean it'll be officially supported by an official ROM however (i would be very surprised if it received an upgrade). Slow devices can run WM6.5 too like the Wizard.
Of course not. But it will mean that the hardware itself is capable of running the OS at an acceptable speed. (Which the betas available now does not... )

I am not sure, but I think, I do remember having heard something about five running WM6.5 ROM, in at least three or four different languages.
As I am an old man (compared with guys like ather90), so it might be age stubbornness to keep my old 6.1Ger ROM, but I do remember, that on my second device 6.5Ger was running fine, fast and stable, as I turned it on the last time. Sorry, for my dementia is bad, but I do not remember if it was yesterday or two seconds ago.
No joke, I thought the released WM6.5 are no beta, indeed they are first class, although I don´t really need them. Some features are nice, OK, but not as important enough to switch system.

Yes, because I would like to have a smooth operating system.
+1 to the idea but i think the problems with backlight should be top priority
Not yet, because many things are not working and for example now you can restart device and use WM for gps. This would not be possible with rom.
But when most things are sorted out, ROM would be a great option.
I agree with you matejdro, android is working okay now but not good enough. A couple of things aren't working which are important to use.
i think before a ROM can even be considered, android needs to be able to recognise all hardware and then it needs to be able to work with all hardware. once android is at this stage, it could then be made into a ROM.
Nice system to use and two xperia one with wm one with Android, but too manny issue yet
Yes, I would very much like to see an Android ROM for the Xperia, for the following reasons:
1. I don't like WinMo that much, and I would be happy to replace it on my Xperia altogether in favor of my favorite OS.
2. It's over a year since I last used the Xperia as my main device, and I mainly use it for experimentation now, so I wouldn't mind an Android ROM even if the port still is a bit buggy.
3. You wouldn't have to launch Haret in order to run it.
4. Correct me if I'm wrong, but when you launch Android through Haret, it isn't run concurrently with Windows Mobile, right? But still, having a dedicated ROM ought to speed up Android a bit, when it's not launched through WinMo.
5. The internal storage is faster than memory cards, so that would speed up things a bit as well.
I'm really looking forward to an Android ROM, just wish I could do more to help making it
Thanks
Yes, but, it is needed a working screen light/bluetooth/gps/headphones
it is still not working in android.
But, i wouldn't rewrite ROM to android. For me is better to use heater.exe. 2 minutes(just like windows) and android is ready!

i think before a ROM can even be considered, android needs to be able to recognise all hardware and then it needs to be able to work with all hardware. once android is at this stage, it could then be made into a ROM.

but before making a ROM every thing wud e fixed then only a ROM can be made out of it not before fixing every thing

thats not true, you could probably make a ROM out of android as it is now, you just wouldnt have windows mobile to fall back on, and your battery would drain instantly!
Yes, but ill wait till all things will be fixed.
Xperia is the perfect phone for android rom.
The disign and construction is thinner and most elegant than any other android phone, even nexus....
I can donate for working rom, and also be an betta tester.
+1
Yeah I would really like to have an Android rom for my Xperia. There are no good phones with qwerty keyboards on Android. Couple of HTC phones have keyboard and Android on them, but their hardware is not impressive at all.
I might be getting a Xperia X10 soon, but it doesn't have a keyboard. I find keyboard is important for me, but there is no point in buying phones like HTC hero as I have X1.
As long as Samsung S pro doesn't comes out I would love have an Android ROM on my X1.
rom instead of windows
it would be nice to see it in reverse, android rom working as main boot and run windows on sd card
so if you need to have gps, or send mms (TP2 you cant) so if you can here I did not say a thing.
anyways whatever is not working and you really really need to use it then boot winmobile.
+1 on beta test. I do not have a gsm carrier, but if selected I will go and buy a prepaid sim or just pay month to month on the new tmobile plan
pm me thanks
but to answer your question why a rom, the battery is a drain huge. and just love to show it to the others "Droid" users, what their device CAN'T
