App to backup apps - Hero, G2 Touch Themes and Apps

Hello
Just like in the topic. How and what to use to backup apps ??
Thanks

i beleive that the ASTRO file manager (free) gives you the option for apps backup to your sd!

Just used ASTRO. Noticed 'Power Manager' was designated 'private' so I could not back that up

If its Copyrighted/copy protected it won't be backed up
You could also use root explorer I think - it worked on my magic, I copied the folder "apps" from /data/apps to SD and I think I also managed to copy
one from /system/apps which had all the preinstalled apps in it.

Ok will try root explorer. Many thx

Where are 'unknown source' apps installed to?

I have a few apps that aren't being backed up by titanium backup.
For example - RockPlayer
It's not in the marked yet so I installed it with the Astro app manager.
Titanium Backup only backs up the data, and not the app. So I checked in /data/app for the apk and it doesn't appear to be installed there. It's installed on the phone and not the sdcard.
Are unknown source apps installed to a different directory? Is there any way to find the path?

unknown sources should install to the same location as market apps.
When I sideloaded the Crome2Phone app, the APK is sitting in my Downloads folder, check and see if you have that and what's in there

Not enough memory

Hallo,
When I try to install an app it say not enough memory. If I check my internal sd there is more than 2 gb free. I have also deleted couple of apps, still the same error.
Seems like You have old .odex of this app on phone, You must delete it from data/app (root is required)

Is that normal?
And I still don't know wy the phone is saying there is not enough memory .

Open data/app via Root Explorer, it mustn't be empty
Okay I have it now, and I must delete which app? Will that fix the problem?
You must delete these .apk and .odex which You have to install from Google Play, if You won't find it, just write which application You want to install (and it have error) and i'll try to help You
Thanks, its working now

[Q] How to remove pre-loaded ringtones on X8?

Hello everyone
I just rooted my Xperia X8, and was wondering how to remove the stock ringtones that were already pre-loaded on the phone when I bought it.
Also, which ones of these are best to remove such apps. and ringtones, and such?
1. Titanium backup
2. ultimate backup
3. system app.remover
thanks a million :good:
Ken
Go to system/media
There you will find all the ringtones..
delete the ones which you want..
Thanks to you both
I download Titanium backup from the Market, and removed those apps that I never use on the phone, such as Timescape..
:good:
for removing ringtone go to /system/media. for deodexed app i recommend using root uninstaller while for odexed app just use titanium backup.

Today, I downloaded Root Explorer from the web - I couldn't access the market, as I accidently deleted my Google Gmail account associated with the Market, and couldn't get in..
Anyhow; I went to system>media, and removed some Ringtones and some notification sounds that I didn't like...I switched off my phone for the
changes to take affect, and it worked perfectly.. when I went back into Root Explorer and tried to delete some more ringtones, it gave me this message:
Warning
InsertCoin.ogg cannot be deleted because the file system is read-only.
"'Insert coin" is the name of the ringtone that I want to delete..
If a file is read-only, you can press the "Mount RW" button, and it can then be removed )
On another note..
1.) I was wondering if the Sony Ericsson wallpaper can be deleted? I couldn't find the wallpapers in the system area using the Root Explorer.
2.) And also, will my phone be ok if I removed 'Sync'? Or is that conntected someway to the Gmail apps, and all that important stuff?
On Titanium Backup, I can only find "Synchronisation 1.0.0"
and on Root Explorer, there's only "Sync.apk" and "SyncWizard.apk"- anyone know what these are used for?
=))

Of course not. Android apps are self contained. And why do you need to move stuffs to /system? The cappy have a 1gb data partition, and most data are stored on the SD card, not on the NAND flash like with iPhones(this is not entirely accurate, but close enough)
