Only noticed this yesterday really. When I'm using some sort of data connection (so browsing the internet or on WLM etc), I seem not able to receive a phone call, or to receive a text. I thought that voice calls / texts would interrupt the data session so you could receive them. Even my old samsung g600 does that (although I didn't use the internet much on it, so not too sure how good that is at it).
Is this a known issue, or a bug etc? Or is it just how it works? It's very annoying.
Thanks

I have tried to use my Vario III with my TomTom 720 for traffic updates unfortunately the setup is a little hit or miss. I have identified the cause of the problem and this is due to data calls being active, if these are ended then the TomTom unit works perfectly.
Is there a way to automatically end data calls, I have the ability to configure an AT connection string, is there a code that can be added that will close calls during connection?
Our can data calls be set to end immediately once complete.
this may help, ends a data call after 10 seconds of inactivity.

works for me on WM6.
Hi people,
I'm using my Kaiser's internet connection sharing via BT to my desktop. I noticed that during the ICS session and even after disconnecting, I am unable to receive calls. Sometimes after disconnecting it, a long while later I get sms notifications of 5 or 6 missed calls (this is provided by my carrier). I am on a 3G connection so in theory calls and data could take place simultaneously.
Anyone else experiencing this?
I have enabled simultaneous connections for Voice & Data in my ROM by editing the 'ContextNumber' values in the registry.
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\\RIL\OperatorContexts\23415] ;Vodafone UK
"GPRSContextNumber"=dword:3
"UMTSContextNumber"=dword:3
This seems to work, to a degree but I am not sure about some of the behaviour. I have my data connection set to permanent as I use Exchange ActiveSync for work as well as MS Office Communicator Mobile 2007 R2. I have a 2nd data connection for MMS but this is hardly ever used and only for MMS anyway.
If I am on a call and an email arrives I hear a notification and if I quickly look I can see an email has been received whilst the call is still in place. If the call is short then everything seems fine, however if the call is for a few minutes or more then typically my OCS presence status gets messed up and the connection to the OCS server gets broken. The data connection is still in place but there seems to be some breakdown of sending/receiving data whilst the voice call is connected for more than a few minutes.
I am struggling to troubleshoot this and was wondering if anyone else has issues with simultaneous voice & data calls?

generally it's not a phone thing class A gsm phones all support it
but if your phone operator don't have full support in their end
there is not much you can do
read about it here

every htc phone I had supported it fine without any reg changes

No, that's the thing it does work and I can receive emails via the data connection when I am on a voice call. It just seems after the voice call is active for more than a few minutes then there is some communication breakdown, however the data call remains active.

Hi, My Hero(Cdma) is having a problem receiveing calls while 3g is turned on.
I can not receive calls while 3g is on.
Calls works fine with Evdo/1x.
I am running CM7 latest nightly, stock everything.
Is there a way to completely disable 3g and use only Evdo?
Or is there a fix for this problem?
Thanks.

EVDO is 3G, they are the same. 1X is slow as balls. FYI, on a CDMA network (like sprint) you CANNOT use both EVDO data and voice calling at the same time. Your calls however SHOULD override the data connection, so if you are describing this right, it sounds like your phone is backwards. I think you are confused.
Thank you for the reply.
I really have no idea why it is doing this.
Some google-ing found me some reports of 3G interfering with receiving incoming calls.
I'll try to explain it better and maybe there is something I am missing.
When the phone is rebooted it sends all calls directly to voicemail, the 3G icon does disappear then reappears instantly, the phone does not even ring.
For the person that calls it's like the phone is powered off.
I can make outgoing calls without any problems, but it still will not receive incoming calls.
Text messages/MMS/apps/browser all work.
We are doing a work around where we disable all Data(via the data widget) then re enable it after every reboot.
That solves the problem temporary.
But it makes the phone unreliable, since it does this.
I've wiped everything, reflashed CM7, and reinstalled all of the apps probably 15 times now.
Before the first reboot there isn't any problems. But after the first reboot all calls are sent straight to voicemail untill I toggle data.
Sorry for the huge block of text.^
I am up for trying anything.
Please let me know what you can think of.
Thanks again.
Don't know if it will help, but it won't hurt.......You could flash back to a sense rom, update your Data Profile and grab the latest PRL update while you're there.
did yo recently change something or was this how it work since flashing new rom?
Thanks everyone for the suggestions on how to fix it.
I think I may have fixed it by installing the AdFree app from the market and updating the hosts with the IP 127.0.0.1.
So far it hasn't sent any calls directly to voice mail, so it appears to be fixed.
Going to edit the title of the thread and add [solved].
Thanks again everyone.
That makes no sense. To have an ad block your access to calls after a fresh install? Sounds like you might have a program installed disrupting your service if adfree solved it.
Your phone is possessed!!!
When ever I'm connected to Wifi Calling on my phone I can't seem to send or "download" MMS (Pic, Group, Video, Etc..). By download I mean, my phone can see that I have a new MMS and it prompts me to download it, but it fails. As soon as I turn off Wifi Calling, magically I can send and receive those MMS. I am using hangouts as my primary sms app, I have tried various other 3rd party apps, all of which end in the same result. I can send and receive voice calls and sms perfectly fine.
I have the same issue.
I recently upgraded to Lollipop and now anytime wifi is turned on and connected I'll run into this when sending texts.
