Just wanted to let those that don't know.... T-Mobile now has visual voicemail... switch your data plan to the new t-mobile android service (same price, extra perks like sherpa works correctly and visual voicemail)
Then download the T-Mobile Visual Voicemail app.... pretty cool... now i think we have everything the iphone has with all the customizability. lol...
Already posted in the apps section.

I just got Visual Voicemail for the first time, and now I heard about "youmail"
who has experience with it? Which is better in your opinions? Discuss.
I'd like to know what hero ROM you're on (TAG?) -.- anyway, visual voicemail. Been around longer. If you have gv the voicemail provided by that is far superior to any voicemail app in the market.
I've tried both, and they seem to work well on the surface. However, I never liked them and preferred T-Mobile's voicemail, even if you do have to dial into it.
From my experience, Visual Voicemail ran better, but Youmail is more updated and is a much bigger company. Youmail has services you have to pay for, as for VV, I don't recall.
I do agree though, Google Voice's voicemail works amazingly.
I have been using youmail and its really good
I u end up wanting to cancel the VV service it's a little involved. I canceled mine 2 months ago, then recently out of the blue i kept getting email notifications that my box was full. Once you are fully out of the system thats it. Youmail on the other unsubscribing is a matter of changing your settings. As well they keep your acct should you change your mind, no starting over from scratch.
Ironically enough, I just setup a Google Voice acct today. All i can say is Google is doing doing it big with that one. You should explore that option as well. You wont be disappointed.
I use YouMail on JACHero 2.7.3 and it works perfectly.
I've never had an issue with it. I pay for the Pro/Transcribing as well ($3.99/mo) - since I can't use GV for my main number. The major difference between GV Voicemail and YouMail is that you can customize greetings for different people and GV is free.
I love doing specific greetings.
so i just set up google voice today finally but i have some questions that i couldn't find the answers too easily online and i figured this was probably the best place to ask.
First off, is there anyway to choose certain people to always call using google voice?
and secondly, this one applies more to t-mobile, are calls through my phone using google voice count as minutes on my plan? because i'm hoping to use google voice so i can get on a cheaper voice plan.
thanks and sorry for the n00bish questions

Choosing which contacts to use GV for requires a 3rd party app thru the Market. GV doesnt seem to have a native selector. Voice Choice is pretty nice.
And using GV does take from the minutes, especially on T-Mobile unless you have the old MyFaves plan. Sprint, Verizon, & AT&T all have a plan where you may call unlimited to certain numbers and adding your GV number to it (usually) works. But T-Mo no longer offers MyFaves to newer subscribers.
If you want to reduce your call loads, there is another option for T-Mo, AT&T, & GSM users... Vonage over WiFi calling is a free app in the Market, and it does work fairly well. There is a CDMA version of Vonage, but thats for Verizon, Sprint, & Cricket, and it doesnt offer the WiFi calling.

very nice app there, a little expensive for a small function.
Right now i'm on myfaves but i'll be leaving it soon to go onto a family plan and i was hoping this would work like that.
With it not working like that, almost makes me wonder what the point is lol.
guess i'll give vonage a shot.
Try "Google Voice Callback" on the Market. You can set it up to set certain people to always be called via GV. You can also set it up to detect when you make a call and prompt you to use GV. When you choose to make a GV call, the app calls you and the person you're calling via GV (your phone will ring and then you answer which initiates the call). This way no minutes are used.
There's a free version and a paid version which are identical. The paid one is just there so you can make an easy donation.
If you want free incoming calls, you'll need to download and setup Sipdroid which is a little more complex since you need to find a SIP provider (I use Sipgate).
Hi,
One of the features i miss from my iphone is visual voicemail...
I know there's a way to get google voice visual voicemail to work with your phone, but google voice doesn't work in Canada...
I have a Bell i9000 unlocked to Fido, does anyone know if there's a way i could get visual voicemail on my sgs???
Thanks
Sorry i only know of google voice which is so much better. I dont miss "visual VM" at all.
Only wishing for a better Exchange email client and improved copy&paste (guess that is what 2.3 will bring).

There's a service called "hullomail" which gives you visual voicemail, but it's not available in Canada yet. hullomail.com
If you have inclusive long-distance calling to the US (I can't remember whether Fido offer that or not - it's a while since I used Fido) then you might find you can make it work for you.
can anyone please upload their Visual Voicemail app for AT&T? I bought a Galaxy S2 and cannot seem to find the default visual voicemail app in the marketplace (probably because my phone is from Europe and is not recognized by the american marketplace)
thanks in advance =]

In a related note: I went to my local AT&T store to see if they could get it working for me, but they supposedly said that google removed visual voicemail apps from the marketplace. WTF?
Doesn't belong in the dev section.
As for an answer, I've never had Visual Voicemail on my phone. I thought that was iPhone exclusive.
I've never had visual voicemail from at&t either. I do however use google voice for my voicemail and I like that a lot better than the iphones visual voice as it transcribes the message too.
Here
Have you tried google it first?
Visual Voicemail is currently available for BlackBerry® Bold™ smartphone users*.
As has been mentioned, it isn't available for Droid. There are alternate options.
Also as has been mentioned, this IS NOT A DEV concern. This is the very reason they put a minimum post count cap on posting in the DEV section. Apparently they must have gone back and changed it.
Send this to General...
And download Google Voice. It is vastly superior to that dinosaur VVM...
I posted this in the dev section because I was planning on porting the app over to the SGS2
anyway, I remember seeïng the visual voicemail app a long time ago on some Tmobile devices; I'm new, i thought it was still around
I use Youmail. Its great!!
YouMail
Try YouMail. It works great.
Google Voice.
You can use your current phone number and have visual voicemail.
Go to google.com/voice on your computer to set it up, then get the app.

Is there a Visual Voicemail other than the crappy T-Mobile app? I'd love for something like the Android native VVM.
I used to use Google Voice, but they do not like you deleting voicemails and make it as painful as possible.
I use google voice, have for years. I am not sure if you can still sign up with them or not. They will also email or text a copy of the message.

I love T-Mobile's Visual Voicemail app. Have never had a problem deleting a voicemail. You do have to have a good data signal though for it to synch, delete, etc since it does require data.

I was wondering the same thing. Stumbled upon this thread: http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...l-voicemail-vs-t-mobile-visual-voicemail.html
I thought Samsung has a standard visual vm? I'm sorta missing my Nexus 6P and the stock android VM built into the dialer.
Used Google Voice for years, has gotten much better, receives updates regularly these days.
