Best Radio for Australia - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hi Guys
Currently I am getting very poor 3G reception in comparison to my old Samsung Innov8. I am running Deepshing 7.0 RC prior to this I was running the official 3 rom. my device is security unlocked and my current Radio rom is 1.08.25.20
Is there a more effective radio then this for Australia? Im in Canberra...

Hi frasertag
When I upgraded to the official 2.07 rom, it came with radio 1.09.25.23.
I definately noticed an improvement in signal strength, over the previous version. I'm with Telstra though, so I'm not sure if you'll notice the same improvement, or not.
Good luck.

ROM Updates for i-Mate PDA2k EVDO

HI,
Looking for a place where I can get an updated ROM for the i-Mate PDA2k EVDO. This is sold in Australia as a CDMA model, it appears that it is the one referred to here as 'no sim' model.
I just upgraded the Bluetooth to 3500, and that now works, now trying to see if there is a ROM upgrade as well.
Thankyou,
Adam.
all roms are in wiki under avaliable shipped complete roms
Thankyou, I have found the ROMs.
My question relates to the fact that I am unsure if the standard ROM for GSM/GPRS Blueangel will work in a CDMA (no SIM) Blueangel. There is precious little that I have been able to find on this particular model.
I am going to try the Harrier ROM for the Telstra NZ version, but I feel that may not contain the most recent version of the available software.
Anyone out there tried the latest version in a CDMA?

What is the best Base Rom for the Blue Angel????

I currently have a Blue angel running in the UK on a T-Mobile rom, unlocked and actually running on an Orange sim. I would like to update my Rom and believe there is a new version out for T-Mobile. But prior to upgrading my rom I am not fussed which Rom I use. Are there any recommendations on the best base rom out there in the UK?
Is it T-Mobile, Orange, O2 etc. I know they will be much the same but individual providers sometimes provide some extras etc. I believe O2 has the battery status on the home page etc. Can anyone recommend a good flavour of Base ROM???
I believe that the i-mate 1.42 is the best rom for stability, however the latest t-mobile rom is advantageous for those needing Blackberry support. The o2 rom however comes with the o2 active interface, which many people like however it really slow's down your ppc.
I'd advise you go for the i-mate rom. Hope this is of help

I run the UK T-Mobile version 1.42 and it's pretty fast and about as stable as i-mates, imo. I'd say if you're using 1.42 now, you're really not going to do any better, overall, unless you go to WM5. Then, however, you're opening a whole new can of worms as they're all hacks and therefore slow and buggy, comparatively speaking. You can find just about any rom on this site's ftp server, ftp://xda:[email protected]
You may get the T-Mobile Rom here
I advise that you follow the WIKI for installation instructions which may be found here
Enjoy!
Thanks Mark/Splonker my device indicates the rom version 1.06.00 ENG is this the version number I should be looking at??
Also sorry for the addition. Can I just do a full backup of my device contacts etc and when I upgrade restore?? Thanks John.
So .. T-Mobile and I-Mate seem to have a 1.42 base rom out. I can find the Dutch TMO 1.42 one (I have that running now), I can find the UK TMO 1.42 one, but where is the I-Mate 1.42 one? Can't find it at I-Mate and can't find it here at XDA Devs ...
Between these three, which is the best?
xBackup not in T-MOBILE 1.42 Radio DUTCH ROM
Just upgraded to T-MOBILE 1.42 Radio DUTCH ROM got my Wireless problem solved but have another problem NO XBACKUP how can I install it???
still trying to track down the english version of the tmobile latest rom any ideas/links anyone?? Thanks John.
I've found Orange 1.31 ROM/Extended ROM and radio 1.15 the best combination so far. For me, 1.4x ROMs were slower.
My Best Roms
XDA IIs UK from O2
1.Best ROM so far without doubt for me is the BA_TMNL_14200_119_11300_Ship from T-MOBILE
AND its the fastest..
2.Best ROM (slightly slower)
XDA 1.42 115 T-Mobile Firmware
3. I-Mates 1.40 WWE with Radio 1.13
still had an issue with audio dropping from incoming calls
If you've seen any of my previous posts you'll see the hell i've been in trying to get anything to work with these ROMS, now it ALL works. and I dont say that lightly!
i tried the last 2 factory ROMS from O2 UK 140.237 & 140.242 which is there latest and I had WIFI nightmares with both of those..

Fastest ROM, Radio?

In the following article at: http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=518&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1
Werner writes that (in his experience at the time written) the Wizard ROM and radio version that gave the fastest performance was 1.6.7.1/01.13.10. That later ROMs added new features, such as bluetooth stereo audio, and push e-mail, but the performance he experienced was best with the version above.
I have a T-Mobile (USA) MDA, still with the shipping ROM. I see the ROM version is 1.8.10.2, and the radio version is 1.09.10.
In other words I have a newer ROM than the version he mentions in the article, but an older radio version. (I have 01.09.10, and he recommendes 01.13.10.)
Is it possible to upgrade the radio version without upgrading the ROM version? Would that upgrade the performance of my MDA?
Do others agree, one gets the best performance using 1.6.7.1/01.13.10?
Fastest wizard rom (i-mate) ???
I am also looking for the fastest rom for my wizard!
I have got the German O2 XDA Mini S and the rom sucks.
I heard about an english version of the rom from i-mate, sayed to be the fastest!
thanks in advance!! Terrorzwerg
What is the latest ROM for O2 XDA Mini S and how do u upgrade the ROM ?

[REQ] Telstra radio rom

Hi,
Could someone please post their Telstra radio rom? I would like to see if I could flash my UK HTC Touch HD and see if that will enable 3g here in the US
Thanks
Sure.
Download 1.10.25.25 / 52.57.25.30U from the following thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=466274
Because that is all the Telstra Devices have on them.
it wont work dont need to try.
marktang, do you know why it wont' work? Is it a hardware issue? Or additional firmware is needed?
It is a hardware limitation. There are no 850/1900 MHz WCDMA amplifiers in european Touch HD.
i dont know what it is but people have tried already. you are not the first one to ask for that ROM.
i wouldn't risk it... it hasn't worked.
Telstra Rom
Hope this works first time useing rapid

Telstra Radio ROM
Hi, you can only upgrade to Telstra Radio ROM (1.10.25.25)(Down load from link in WIKI). I have up-graded Rom 1.56.405.1 (Latest version). The Telstra reception was very poor and I missed calls in side buildings.
After down-grade the Radio ROM to Telstra Radio ROM (1.10.25.25). The Telstra reception is better. I think is safer to upgrade/downgrade the Radio ROM only. You less likely to brick you phone. It appears that it only support 2G and 3G, but not nextG. You don't need nextG in major cities. If you used your phone for Internet Sharing you get 3.2 MB/S instead of 7.2 MB/S.
I have a telstra t8285 here in the US. I have upgraded it to the latest 1.14.25.24 radio and it works fine.

UK T-Mobile Vario III official ROM update

I noticed that T-Mobile in the UK have issued an official ROM update for the Vario III (and the Vario IV).
Could this be an imminent sign that they will be releasing the Vario V (aka Touch Pro 2) shortly?
Has anyone tried the ROM update yet? I'm considering it but am put off by the reports of problems with GPS after updating to WM 6.1.
Vario III UK T-mobile ROMs
http://www.tm-phonedownloads.com/dm_vario3_sw.html
I'm using the newer MDA Vario III 6.1 ROM
I have updated to the 3.31 ROM and 1.70 Radio available from tmobile UK at the link above. This was a from stock to stock upgrade using tmobile's upgrade utility.
I have NO GPS issues working with TomTom and get fast fixes inside my house. The rest of the ROM seems a lot snappier and very stable compared to the 6.0 ROM. The 6.1 improvements are also quite nice to have as a carrier ROM.
Cheers
