I had it done on my M8. They have to send you a link to the app, and you have to install it, they can't just do it without your permission.
The app will also block any access to keyboard (when they used it, I had to type everything and it specifically states that all access to the screen is currently blocked when typing anything), it basically just lets them use the device a bit, and check some settings to make sure everything is proper.
Just uninstall the app after, and done.

Yup. That'd be a massive privacy breach that would open them to quite a few lawsuits if they had it setup that they could access your device and personal data at ANYTIME.

Did she offer to do it to the new device, or to the external SD?
If it was new device, I don't see how they would do that unless they were going to use ATT Locker (which I hate). If to external, then it's just a setting in the phone that'll move everything to the external.
Still, she would have to ask for your permission, which she did. I wouldn't worry about it, they can't get that data anyway.

I called att once when I had my s4. However I had that phone so locked down even they couldn't get a connection established. When they would try to connect they would get a rejection message and my phone would force close the app. They use this to trouble shoot our phones when we call support. They ask you to accept a text link which grants them control of your phone. What you see they see. I do not like this because they can see notifications like text messages in the status bar. You will also be asked to install an apk. I don't like this idea because I have private information on my phone. But someone who is not very literate with phones may need this type of support to fix their phone malfunctions.

Attention Tmobile Users

I just contacted Tmobile support to check if they were working on the towers in my area and the support agent told me they can see my device is rooted. Does anyone know how they see this? I feel I have been spyed on. Is it the tmobile account app that I pay my bill with? I'll get rid of that crap!!

The t-mobile account app runs diagnostics on the phone, I think it's called phone health or device health, something like that. It can detect if you're rooted, that's why I remove the app.

1) Download Xposed installer
2) Download the "Root Cloak"module from Xposed Repository
3) Select the "Tmobile Account App and/or any other Tmobile app from within Root Cloak
4) Force stop and clear data of Tmobile Account App and/or any other Tmobile app you've chosen. ( not sure if this step is necessary, but I wanted to start fresh)
5) Run diagnostic in Tmobile Account App.
Worked for me. You can use Root Cloak with pretty much any app.

Why not just remove the T-Mobile account app? That way you avoid all diagnostics. If you need to pay your bill/check our data usage just log onto t-mobile.com

That's a much better idea, just move the app and ode file to your SD card just in case you want to upgrade and reboot problem solved

LOL it isn't spying. You are using their service and they have specific policies you need to abide by and I believe rooting affects your warranty so of course they have the right to know.

Bootloader unlock for S6 SM-G9250

So, according to drakon.us, Samsung has provided factory bootloader unlocker in the Samsung App store.
Search for "CROM Service", You can see the process here:
https://youtu.be/KTTgXqaP7Rk
I'm in preorder hell waiting for my gold S6E from Verizon so I can't verify independently. Is this something we can use?
Seems it's not showing up in the US Store. I'll see if anyone I know in that region can grab the app for us. Might be worth looking into.
So there was a link here to a place to find the app, then poof it magically disappeared. LOL gotta love how that happens. Regardless, the app that was linked did not work, it downloaded and installed fine, but when trying to open it, it just force closes.

So is there a way to make this work .... FC for me after installing
Well like I said earlier, I'm trying to relearn all this after not using it for six or so years... My intuition tells me that this tool is invaluable, and we know it is functional as we've seen on a Galaxy Tab, it does install and load, but after the disclaimer, it FC's. This is telling me it is probable that the device is simply failing a version or class checker.
If that is true, depending on how this was created, the source can be altered to work with our devices. What's critical here is that these are official Samsung apps; we're not recreating the wheel here. What we're doing is looking at an unencrypted tool that was designed specifically for the purpose of unlocking our device. That's why I posted these to Hacking/Dev. While I am starting almost from square one, someone who is familiar with the environment and scripting language would be far ahead of me on the curve.
Will it work out of the box? Nope, but there is the potential it can be made to work.

Good lord I hope you or someone else gets it to work. There's hope!
Decompiled the apk and explored around a little, heres the strings.xml. Just wanting to share what it shows.
I really hope this goes somewhere. If this gets ported than I will be so thankful. If there is anything I can do to help I would but I have not much experience with programming
Title is misleading. I would edit it
Done.
Any updates on progress or is it completely dead?
By the looks of it you can get it to work you just need to obtain root first... Which means it serves no use seeing as the phones that have root are already bootloader unlocked

But phones with locked BL's can be rooted given the right tool is created. And if it is then once rooted we can unlock our BL's and flash Roms like everyone else.
Sent from My Samsung Galaxy S6 "Pure" Black
Root doesn't guarantee any bootloader unlock. If that was true, then every phone with root would have an unlocked bootloader, which isn't the case.
Root would be nice, but without an unlocked bootloader I see many bricks happening from inexperienced users pushing things too far and not knowing a way out.
This is not your typical Nexus crowd in here.

VZW Hiya phone apk

I've been using a Note 7 port on my Note 4 and have really enjoyed the integrated Hiya into the phone dialer. Of course VZW has disabled it for their own. Hiya has a stand alone app but I was curious if there's a way to take the unlocked phone app and install it on our VZW note 8. Thanks.

I didn't know there was any sort of integration in the past with hiya. Do you have an APK for that or was your phone rooted? That might be the reason. I don't know how the Standalone app works and if you have to make hiya the dialer of choice for it to work properly. If it's anything like mr. number I'd be over it
Don't think you can install the phone APK since it is probably a system app. So short of flashing it or rooting (both impossible right now) I don't think you can get it. Hiya's standalone app is crap. Obtrusive, nags a bit, not integrated into rest of the system. One of the reasons I got unlocked for my T-Mobile plan is to have proper caller ID without T-Mobile shoving their Name ID down my throat at $3.99/mo

That's what I figured, it being a system app so no way to install from another version. Thank you for the reply. Smart going unlocked! If it wasn't for the carrier trade in value I'd have done the same. Enjoy!

If you're referring to the Hiya caller id/spam feature, it''s not just the phone app & there's a chance you may not even need it. It's enabled by cscfeature.

Without root, not possible. Verizon specifically blocks this feature cause they offer their own paid subscription caller ID service.

Reason why I'm still on T-Mobile. Verizon doesn't allow for GSM devices, aka unlocked bootloader phones. Really bothers my how even T-Mobile sells locked bootloader phones. Seems like Samsung and service providers don't care though since we don't represent the majority of consumers.
Here ya go guys, if you root then use this cscfeatures file, the caller ID and spam protection GETS ACTIVATED ALONG WITH EVERY OTHER FREE SAMSUNG FEATURE VERIZON DISABLED. Caller ID, search places, Samsung cloud, as well as a few others. Scroll through the thread and use the one Baggery77 modified for Verizon. It's a few pages in.

I did a dirty flash of the rom with that csc code and worked it worked with no issue. After a clean install, the option was still in setting andturned on, but it only says Identifiying caller information without giving a result on numbers it would normally work on. Any ideas?

Sorry, worng fourm. Can't delete, lol. Still interesting though
For all Samsung users.
I have no clue why this Module I stumbled on is not more known. It is amazing how well it works and what it does. It lets your Samsung device use .zip bootanimations instead of .qmg.
Its made by "afaneh92". I know him as guy the developed TWRP for Note 10 (N970U Snapdragon) my current phone. I can even use the bootanimation changer in the Play Store, thats hiw well it works. Its been about 3 weeks since i flashed it with Magisk. I shared it before but no one serms to care, for some reason. I think its pretty freaking awseome though.
Its attached if anyone cares, lol
