Was just wondering there's any way to tell whether a custom ROM is using Topaz or Rhodium OEM? Not too sure if I'm putting out the question correctly.
For LEO very easy to tell, cos can just identify by looking at the home tab of TouchFLO 3D (cos of the additional 3 shortcuts).
interested for this post
cookers tell us
nice question
look at the physical hardware different (e.g. 3m vs 5m camera, landscape support). Then you will found portrait only dialer, max resolution support in camera software are different.
But most cook mix packages from different platform so it's not so important anyway.

hi!
someone know if htc diamond home plug and album/mediaplayer software are avaible somewhere, please?
thx!
i asked the same thing somebody just told me to buy a diamond
there is an early release of it floating around these forums, it's called Manilla. But don't get to excited, it really doesn't work well, if at all. I saw one person say that it only did like 3 fps so it was so extremely slow that it was useless. Most posts state that it doesn't work at all.
how about the application/programs launcher.. the one that goes a neat vertical list (see attachment)..
i think they replaced the default start>programs launcher with this one.. better, neater (with background) and more fun scrolling than the default M$ one..
You guys should take a look at the reviews more carefully. All the programs that the OP asked for are part of the new TouchFLO 3D. Implementation requires an activated GPU, something that the Kaiser is lacking.
well not all seems to be a part of the GPU heavy TouchFLO 3d.. as usual, some of the UI elements of the new TouchFLO must be some sort of separate programs that is called by the main GUI/launcher.. evidences of those can be seen in some videos wherein shortcut icons (from settings applet and/or programs menu) can summon/launch some TouchFLO UI programs - independent of the main 3d TouchFLO app..
so most likely, we may be able to extract some parts of the UI (the more static ones)..
like the comm manager, settings, volume screen, programs menu (list), and maybe even the youtube applet.. which, all seems to just be a static standard/skinned program (non-3d and more like a point-UI approach), much like the HTC Camera Album (from the first Touch series)..
our main hurdle would be converting these apps from the obviously VGA native resolution to QVGA ones..

isnt it just reducing the images down to 50% ????
i've found some infos here...but i can't make it working on my kaiser...even if i've changed the images file with the qvga version file...
so...someone know something about manila on qvga devices?
THX!
Hi all,
I've had my Diamond for about 6 months now. Have been running Dutty's ROMs on it working great.
But, now due the severe lack of customisation to TF3D in general, I have decided to look at other interace options.
Am I mistaken or do Dutty's ROMs not allow to disable TF3D? - would prefer to stick with the ROM but without TF3D. But if not, would change to any other ROM that allows for this.
Many thanks.
i thought all roms let you turn it on or off
well all the ones i have tested do......and i have tested them all
there are lots of lite roms here.....with tf3d removed
you need to use the search button for those
My mate and I use the same ROM from Dutty version 3.4 and both of us were surprised not to find the option to disable TF3D in Today items.
Yep, I've seen the lite ROMs but they take away too much of the other stuff I need.
Oh I did use the search. Perhaps there should a sticky about just how to use the search effectively (!) I'm normally good at searching but perhaps unfortunate to already have an installed ROM that doesn't have the 'TF3D disable' feature.
The CT ROM is look quite nice, may have a look at that.

What are you considering for your interface?
I do like most of the existing features of TF3D but just would like it to support 3rd party plugins and the ability to customise the whole interface.
Is there any news at all on HTC bringing out another version of TF3D? There are so many postings on the internet about users wanting certain features on the interface- most of them in my opinion very basic (such as displaying tasks on the home screen; ability to add custom tabs, etc).
I've been looking at SPB Mobile Shell and Wisbar Advance products.
Ok......
I bought my X1 in Taiwan, with the intention of flashing to an english rom, because i obviously haven't a clue about chinese, and english langue ones are not available here.
I've been flashing custom roms for a while, both on the X1 and on my old Wallaby and Ef's but havent found anything that ever really suits my needs.
I like the windows 6.5 roms, but WVGAfix doesnt seem to work with any of the builds despite saying it does which kinda makes all 6.5 obsolete for me because of the amount of software that doesnt work with a WVGA screen.
Which leaves 6.1. I have tried loads different 6.1 builds, but find there are certain things that always stop me wanting to keep them.
So my question is can anyone build a rom that is almost a light rom, that just has a few essential elements built in. One that might last me a couple of months, or at least until Mobile 7 is released as opposed to reflashing every few days. I have looked into cooking, but simply dont have the time with work to really get good at it. It drives me nuts having to reinstall everything and sync contacts every time i flash a new rom.
If i was going to build my own ROM i would be looking for a lite and fast 6.1 build that has to me what i would consider some essential apps cooked in.
Manilla
USB popup
Advanced config
Radio
Audio Booster
Htorch
All the finger friendly features
Xperia R3A Camera to replace the HTC camera within manilla.
MSN Push mail (not messanger)
Specifically i would really like to avoid all the things that are updated regularly, such opera, youtube, facebook, google maps etc, and all the things which would seem to me to be a waste of space / speed, such as
MP3 trimmer, panel manager and additional panels.
Basically a stripped lite Rom, with manilla and its associated features.
I have tried flashing lite roms, and installing manilla, but its a real hastle, and never gets as good a results as some of the outstanding chefs here. I can't be alone in wanting a rom like this? so i guess my last question is....is anyone up for the task or am i about to get flamed for something i should be doing myself?

I don't do custom rom for others but my medium rom seems to fits most of your requirement. (How can you call it a "lite" rom if you need manila that has thousands of file?)
UPS
I was just going to recommend you trying Jack's Medium

hee hee, I will recommend yrs and Itje's if he is asking for 6.5.
Oddly enough i have just tried Jacks 3.6 medium rom and its very fast.....i like it......keep testing for a few days and see how it goes, but looks real good so far!!
Jack - You're right in that i suppose with manilla in it isnt a light rom, but i would define anything that goes into a light rom as something that is necessary for the operation of the phone. As windows mobile 6.1 is BUTT ugly and finger unfriendly, i would classify manilla or equivalent as something that is pretty necessary!

I tend to think otherwise, you're right with wm6.1 being finger unfriendly. And there is lots of stuff (ie manila, spb mobile shell, eg) that can help you with that. And the choice is rather personal, something you would add later into a lite rom according to your needs.
(little remark, I'm not a manila fan so maybe a bit judged)
A few words about the HTC Kaiser:
it has a great design, with many functions. Also good features (GPS, QWERTY keyboard, etc).
But: I now have about 4 WM-devices at home. An Asus P525, an HTC Hermes, an Ipaq 914c, a Sony Xperia X1, and a Kaiser.
And you know which one performs the WORST? It is the Kaiser
And I guess it is due to the Qualcomm CPU. The menus open much slower than on the other ones. The P525 from Asus has a feature to set the CPU to power save/normal/turbo. Even power save is not as bad as the Kaiser.
Also the scrolling in the menus (WM6.5 style) is not as smooth. And yes, I tried all kinds of ROMs (6.1 and 6.5, different builds and chefs as well).
I think I will sell my Kaiser now and avoid Qualcomm CPUs for the future.
Too bad the Hermes has no GPS built-in. Otherwise, I would give it clear preference.
have you tried gfxboost yet?
(search for it on xda!)

downloaded and installed it! Thank you! It is way better now, still behind other CPUs but approaching "reasonable".
GFXboost is available here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=509704
also this thread seems interesting: (June 1st 2009!!!)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=496528
Now I wonder why almost none of the chefs use gfxboost in their ROMs?
glad to help! htc really did a number with the kaiser (and continues to do so with newer models)...htc makes great hardware but they really need to get their act together with all the driver and software issues and inadequacies...
BUT xda and the geniuses here has been such a wonderful resource to get our devices purring like they should be in the first place when they leave the factory
ALSO, the kaiser is a GREAT machine (as you mentioned)...feel free to tweak it and try out other ROMs...if you are into wm6.1 and manila2d, i highly recommend the ROM i am currently using, with gfxboost added on manually of course (HyperDragon IV Rhodium ROM April 10th, 2009)
regarding ROMs with gfxboost, SOME exist (i think abusalza with his PDACorner ROMs briefly included gfxboost in one of his recent ROMs)
if you're looking for better scrolling, then i hear wm6.5 has builtin scrolling that is better than touchflo and i have read reports that wm6.5 also benefits from gfxboost but you already seem to know most of this, judging from your first post!
Hi. i am not sure if this is the correct forum to post this in, but I was thinking of getting the Touch Diamond and I was wondering about the cooked ROMs:
I would like to know which cooked ROM anyone uses that is the best one with Windows Mobile 6.5.x (most stable, and least memory consumption/power drain, and uses least amount of flash ROM storage). How responsive is the touch screen/software response with the cooked ROM? Do things like Bluetooth work properly and can I sync with my PC over bluetooth with cooked ROM?
I would like to find the ROM without the TouchFlo or SenseUI's because I find them to be a bit "busy" and i would like a more minimalist type of interface without any hiccups (i assume that touchFlo would be the choice but would like an opinion and as far as the UI i used in the past i chose the PointUI Home2 with Windows mobile 7 theme).
I was also wondering if these cooked ROMs also utilize the sensors (ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, accelerometer) features of this phone without crashing/freezing the device and they all work?
I dont know much about cooked ROMs as far as what features don't work well and what does in regard to the hardware/software. If anyone has suggestions please let me know. Thank you in advance for answering questions. If there is any info i missed or I should know about please let me know.
