Sync with Windows 7 - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Anyone know how to sync with Windows 7???
I've tried to install Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1, but it don't recognize my phone.. And ActiveSync won't even be installed due to compability reasons. (Doh, it's Win7)
I really like Win7, so it would be great to sync the phone

Try another cable or something, the mobile center should work.

But the mobile is charging =/ So i don't think something is wrong with the cable and it worked just fine in XP (ActiveSync). And when I connected the mobile first time, the PC recognized it and installed the drivers for the mobile and the ActiveSync started on the mobile. Should it start on the phone when mobile center is running on the PC?

So does that mean you didn't try anothe cable? Because if you had researched this sort of thing (aka searched) you would find that the cables do this quite often.

i don't know what is the issue for you as i have win7rc1 and i can sync fine using the mobile device center.

If you are using 64bit Windows 7 then you need to download the updated drivers for the HTC. I am not sure exactly where Microsoft has these located, but it automatically downloaded and installed the new USB drivers that it needed just the other day for me......
Works excellent. I was using the 32 Bit version of Windows 7 before this and even though its based under Vista couldn't get it to synch up.

I have Win7 64 bit...with internet already established through another source, when I plugged in my tilt, it found the driver and installed it and has worked flawlessly ever since.

Works fine for me too on Win7 x64.
First, try another cable. USB has 4 connections, only 2 are needed to make it charge, but for communication it needs all 4. Maybe try another USB port on your PC as well.
And as said before, make sure you have an internet connection so it can download the drivers.
WMDC is already built in with Win7, so don't install any other versions from Microsoft Download Center.

Works fine for Win7 x64.
but Win7 x86 "NO"
you can use virtual XP mode for 32bit version

Updates?
Hi. I had this same problem following a hard-reset of my phone. After a while of searching I found that an update (designed for Vista) is available on the microsoft website. Downloaded, installed and sync worked first time. Yey

It should work with Win 7 RC 32 bit - does for me!

Then you're doing something wrong (such as not having the TyTN II correctly connected to your desktop PC or not having internet access on it to download whats required perhaps). I plugged my TyTN II into my Win 7 RC (32 bit) PC and after a bit of hardware detection and some automatic downloading it works (allbeit still with slow file tranfers but at least the UI is better than Win XPs Activesync). Welcome to xda-dev by the way

I think that it matters wether or not it's Windows7 RC.. Right after it came out someone was using the beta and it wouldn't work for them.

I was wondering the same but as the RC version is still avail for free until 20 Aug, anyone with the Beta should be formatting and installing this instead. Grab it while you can

I am running RC 7100 and I have no problem syncing.
Only issue I have now is, when the phone is connected, it won't let me delete or replace any .xml files through file explorer. This was never an issue with XP and Active Sync.

i just found what the problem is. Open settings on phone, then connection tab, open usb to pc... and there uncheck (enable advanced network function)
With it checked it didnt work on mine win7

I had that problem when I first bought my TyTN II but it was because I was attempting to connect it to my ancient USB 1.1 ports on my Pentium III. As soon as I installed a modern (but cheap) NEC chipset USB 2.0 PCI adapter card, I found I could connect fine either with or without advanced network functionality enabled. This is a USB port hardware compatibility issue rather than a Win 7 issue and I suspect even if users have Win XP on the machine that behaves this way, they'd still get the exact same response.

your speaking about USB 1 when others is speaking about Win7. If you dont know win 7 is the newest MS OS. So, i belive, all who use win7 have USB2. So there is question why you mention usb1?
And i didnt sad whole story. I had used phone with win xp for long time with that check on, and with one cabler... now on win7 i tried 2 diferent cables with that check on. Didnt work. Took it off and it started to work. So its Win7 issue.

Thanks for the explanation but my Pentium III is capable of running (or should that be walking) Win 7 RC and it has USB 1.1 ports (as well as a USB 2.0 card now). Given Win 7 RC was avail free of charge - don't know if it still is, I got mine in June, there'll be people who get it just to see what it looks like, even though the hardware isn't up to ideal spec.
I don't know what ports were being used in your case because as you mentioned, full details weren't supplied and we didn't have the whole story - we still don't know. Glad you've resolved the issue in your case but in a modern PC which can comfortably run Windows 7, I wouldn't typically expect this to be an issue. If the hardware is struggling to keep up or has USB ports of dubious quality/performance, then thats a different matter.

Sounds like win7 (my main OS now days) communicates with the USB ports in a different manner than XP or the other OS's. Good to know.

Vista 64 bit compatibility issues?

Hiya got a Touch Diamond yesterday, first smartphone and very pleased with it. Only issue is getting Windows Mobile Device Centre working on Vista, using a 64 bit version, it comes up with found new hardware after I've plugged it in and loads Windows Mobile Remote Adapter driver for it, then nothing. If I open WMDC it says not connected. Set it up for active sync, all the right boxes are ticked and running 64 bit version of WMDC. One thing I did notice was when I tried this on a laptop at work running 32 bit Vista was after it installed the Windows Mobile Remote Adapter driver, it then installed the HTC Touch Diamond driver, which my PC doesn't.
My suspicions are that there isn't a 64 bit driver available for the phone, anyone else had the same problem or managed to sort it?

HI i have vista x64 SP1 and no problems with my diamond...
here a screenshot about diamond drivers on my pc
http://img402.imageshack.us/my.php?image=driversdiamondph8.jpg
if you have any problems i will post you my drivers
With Vista 64bits sp1 I've only a bug with icon : I cannot have diamond's icon, just generic, but no problem with activesync !!!
Weird, my OS must be playing up then, have installed WMDC from 2 different sources now, strange. If you could send me those drivers SMASH1902 it would be much appreciated
I'm also using Vista 64 bits Ultimate with SP1 and no problems so far. It even shows a beatiful pic of the Diamond

tell me if you have any problems
Same version as me, Ultimate SP1, like I said had it working on the 32 bit laptop at work, icon and all in Computer (does look very nice), cannot for the life of me work out what's causing the problem
Also having no problems, on Vista SP1 x64.
Cheers SMASH1902, unfortunately no change, added thm to system 32, had 2 of the 3 already, plugged the TD back in and choose active sync and nothing, starting to do my head in.
Here's a link to a screen shot of my Device Manager atm if it helps http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v201/runebinder/dev.jpg

uhm...have you just tried to change usb port?
Yup tried 3 different one's, still not connecting
I'm on Vista 64 ultimate SP1, and my problem is that my diamond can connect to my computer (WMDC show the device picture), but it tell me that there's a probleme with connection (unplug, replug, blah blah...).
So I can acces my device, but can't synchronize with outlook.
If I uninstall the device under device manager, it seems that Vista can't find or install Generic RNDIS driver... I can see the icon in the taskbar turning and turning, but never stops...
Just a thought, don't know if this has any bearing on anything, but as it installs as a network adapter does it have an APIPA IP address (starts 169.254), on the machine's that are synced properly?
Works here on vista64
How about making a new activesync profile on the vista64 pc? Should work. Connect, then create activesync profile.
How do you do that?
vista x64 sp1 & new Diamond 30/07. phone wouldn't connect a couple of times but seems to be behaving now.
Here's my devices complete with a missing driver XD

Found out the culprit in the end, using AVG IS and found that if the AVG firewall was active when I first connected the diamond (found this out via a couple of reinstalls), then the system would not detect it after installing the mobile adapter. If I then turned off the firewall it wouldn't look for new hardware and nothing was listed in Device manager. Tried connecting the diamond up before installing AVG and synced first time, however whenever the AVG firewall is on it will lose sync, can get it to resync now though if I turn it off and use the windows firewall.
Have tried what is suggested on the support FAQs on their site but now the firewall won't turn back on!
Managed to get AVG firewall restarted and now it's syncing fine. In case anybody needs the fix;
* Open AVG.
* Open menu Tools -> Firewall settings.
* Expand the profile you are using from the Profiles section.
* Select the Applications item.
* In the Applications double click on the Various System Services application.
* Click the Add button in the section Application detail rules.
* Click Move up button until the new detail (e.g. '13') is in the first place of the list.
* In the section Defined services please tick the ActiveSync service.
* Select Allow for all under the Detail action option.
* Confirm the new configuration by clicking the OK button.
LIFESAVER!! Thanks very much!!

WMDC + Windows 7 = doesn't recognize Fuze

I realize since I have a RC of Win 7, there may not be drivers for my Fuze. But just wanted to ask in case anyone here has gotten it to work. My Q9h synced fine under WMDC + Win 7.
What I did so far:
I deleted partnership with Q under WMDC.
Rebooted PC.
Under USB to PC, AS is selected and Enable adv network functionality is un-checked.
Plugged in Fuze.
No drivers installed; No prompt to install driver.
Phone is charging via USB
Neither WMDC nor W7 sees phone.
So I'm guessing it's a driver problem. Anyone know if there are drivers for HTC devices for Win 7? Or is there some other setting in the phone other than USB to PC I need to change?
Update:
I can sync via Bluetooth with no problems.
well..
Can you post more details? What build number, 32 or 64 bit. Mine worked just fine, and I had a Diamond I was using before hand.
Ive had a similar thing happen in Vista. I think WMDC is just garbage. The only way I fixed it was a system rollback to when it had once worked. Sounds like you never got it to work in the first place though.

What I don't get is why WMDC worked for my Q and not my Fuze.
Could it be the cable? Are there differences in USB cables? I am using a USB cable that can be detached from a wall charger.
Mine works. Did nothing out of the ordinary.
Last night I put on Office 2010 and it wouldn't sync, so I deleted the partnership, but when I connected the Fuze again it re-added. What I ended up doing was hitting Sync on the phone. You can see the sync happen in Windows Sync Center.
Will check back on you a little later

When you connect the phone, at some point it should install a driver. Maybe you could try reinstalling WMDC

Problem solved.... it was the cable. I bought a new one that was specifically a data cable and it worked. Lesson learned, not all usb cables are the same....
Thanks for everyone's input

Kaiser does not sync.

Hi, I'm running Windows 7 RC1, I've installed WMDC, it tries to install an unidentified driver which fails. My TyTn2 isn't detected by it either so I can't access the phone atall. Any help?
Hate to bump, but 47 views and no answer?
What win7
I have win7RC-64
Plugged in, downloaded active sync and installed perfectly. On your phone, there is a setting under connections I believe, under USB, and you have to check or uncheck the little box, something like allow connections over USB.
Check it.
Also, try running windows update again, it should work like magic
I have, I'm worried it might be a problem with the usb on the phone as it charges but it doesn't get picked up by my PC. I also tried activesync on Virtual XP and that didn't help. I've upgraded to retail Windows 7 aswell.
Iedbythereaper,
Microsoft does have an official Windows 7 RC Support Forum located here http://tinyurl.com/9fhdl5 . It is supported by product specialists as well as engineers and support teams. You may want to check the threads available there for additional assistance and feedback.

i had the same problem that it would charge but not connect just like you. i couldn't get it to work on both w7 and vista. the issue was bent pins in the usb port and after i bent them back it worked perfectly. see thread: Possible micro-USB failure problem!!

Hello.
When in ActiveSync mode try to disable the faster dat syncronization; Win7 should now be able to detect your phone.
Otherwise try to upgrade the USB phone driver in the Device manager (letting Device Manager search the internet for the updated driver).
This worked for me
Best regards
S
My copy of windows 7 (64bit) which i bought on 22nd oct, didnt have the sync software originally installed. when i connected the phone for the first time it automatically downloaded the sync software.

ActiveSync Problem [USB can't connect]

Dear all,
sorry if this is repost.
i found it quite trouble for me, as my TYTN II suddenly stop syncing with my notebook.
it shown Microsoft ActiveSync can't recognize any port plug to TYTN ii, even if it can't sync with notebook active sync, but the phone still able to charge via USB port, anyone experience this before?
fortunately my Tytn II still able to sync via Bluetooth connection, but NOT via USB port.
Some recommended action that i've run so far:
1. uninstall & re-install microsoft activesync 4.5
2. change usb port
3. change with different notebook with activesync 4.5
4. hard reset my device
5. flash to another ROM via USB
6. etc
after doing all the thing, but the problem still there, only able to sync via Bluetooth connection.
hope anyone could give me a clue here.
thx & rgds,
What OS are you running on your notebook ?
Activsync for Windows XP and earlier
Windows Mobile Device Center for Vista, Wimdows 7
I am using Windows XP SP3 and using Microsoft Active Sync 4.5.0 build 5096
I also have tried into Windows Vista Home premium,
and couple hours ago I've tried to sync my friend O2 and it was successfull syncing with his device, and then I re-tried to sync with mine, but no hope
any clue really appreciate that
Try going to the "USB to PC" settings on your phone (probably under Settings>Connections) and unchecking "Enable faster data synchronization."
hmm, I've tried that before and still no luck,
do you think any possible hardware failure
It's possible that you have a hardware failure. However, that seems unlikely if you can flash using USB and it can connect to those other systems. Two other trivial things to try:
1) Try a different cable
2) Is "Allow USB Connections" checked in File>Connections Settings in ActiveSync? (I'm not trying to insult your intelligence, just covering the bases)

it's okay... i am looking for clue not for arguing
anyway, i've done that
1) already try 3 different cable, the last one i tried is with two devices my tytn ii and my friend O2
2) already done that too, been trying uncheck/check "Allow USB connection" in Microsoft Activesync in my Ms XP SP3 notebook.
btw flashing via SD card is applicable because it's not related with USB port right
regards,
I'm having a very similar problem. I have 2 Kaisers, one factory AT&T ROM WinMobile 6.1 and the other running a cracked 6.5 ROM.
Two computers, one Laptop running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and a desktop running XP w/SP3 32 bit.
About a month ago all phones stopped syncing to all computers. I just get a "Unrecognized USB device" error on both computers using either phone.
Does Anyone know if MS released a USB driver update that may be causing this? I have tried every possible phone setting listed on the web, uninstalled activesync on XP and nothing seems to work. It really feels like a Windows USB issue to me. Just my gut feeling.
Doug
I have one more stab in the dark. Plug in your phone, open the device manager on your computer. There should be a device category called "Windows CE USB Devices." Expand that category, right click on the device in that category and uninstall it. Unplug your phone and plug it in again. This should reinstall the device driver. I'm guessing that the original drive got corrupted somehow.

I had a similar problem as the original poster, and it turned out to indeed be a hardware problem. The SD-card reader was faulty, and ActiveSync would not recognize the phone while an SD-card was plugged in (Nor would WM5Torage work). Removing and reinstalling drivers did not work either. The SD-card was fine, when tested in a PC reader and my Touch HD, so I figured it had to be the kaiser.
I fixed this *today* by replacing the PCB in the display part of the kaiser. Part costs about $40 (Search for item ID 380187854526 on eBay to see which part)
The disassembly/assembly instructions required are in the service manual, available at a dozen places online.
Hope this helps! (Couldn't post links )
