Touchscreen and buttons issue - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Hi there, I have some problems with my Kaiser - strange behavior of touch screen and buttons - sometimes the touch screen becomes less sensitive and needs more preasure to take effect. The buttons - especialy the green phone button does not work somethimes - this effect disapears after few seconds or several times pressing the button ...
Does some one have idea if this is due of some software bugs or need to repair the hardware.
Will appreciate any opinion.
Thanks in advance!

Stock ROM?
Hard-Spl?
Etc....
Always good to provide as much info as possible for people to help.

I have bought the device hardspl-ed flashed with cooked rom. Then I have installed the stock rom - last official from htc site.

Funnily enough, I've noticed this with the screen in the past week myself.
I'm using the stock ROM.
I assumed that the device was busy trying to do too many things at once, but when I checked, I wasn't running any other applications.....

HELP!!! Diamond Dilemma

Hi
This I think this is a weird one I'll try and explain the best I can:
A few days ago I noticed my Diamonds' touch screen was playing up, i.e whenever I pressed the screen somewhere it either a) took ages to register the touch or b) registered it in the wrong place.
I thought this was a software issue so thought I would try to re-align the touchscreen using the WinMo inbuilt tool. However I coudn't do that as it wasn't registering my key press on the start button. So I hard reset it and went through the config procedure.
Everything seemed to go OK and I felt relieved, the screen felt accurate again...BUT having used the device a little more it didn't quite feel right, it felt a bit slow to respond still (when compared to normal operation of a week ago).
I then noticed that I couldn't change my soft keyboard type when composing a text message (you normally can change this by click the keyboard icon on the bottom bar) and other apps e.g calendar etc, my keypress either didn't register or ended up being recognised a a press on the soft keys to the left or right e.g send/cancel. I thought that was a bit strange but made it worse was that on the odd occasion I did get it to register but not with any consistency.
I then experimented with other apps such as Opera which has another button on that part of the screen, that seems to be fine (albeit a bit slow).
So again i though it was a software problem, but now I'm not so sure...I've flashed with Hard SPL and a couple of the cooked roms (SwiftBL and Dutty), and tried a few different SPL's and the problem still persists. I have since reverted to the latest official Vodafone UK rom with a stock 1.37 SPL. Still the same result though.
Now here comes the tricky bit, I bought the Diamond off ebay a couple of months ago (it is the Vodafone UK version, is boxed but no voda receipt) as Vodafone wouldn't let me have one unless I was on a business contract. Like I said I don't have the Voda receipt.
Could it be the Touch screen has malfunctioned?
Are there any strange software bugs that could be causing this.
What are my chances of geting it fixed on warranty?
I need help desperately as I love the phone but now I have found the longer I leave it after aligning the screen the worse the touchscreen response gets so it becomes unuseable. I don't want to pay for a costly repair either.
All help and sugesstions appreciated.

Very Frustrating Problem - Please help me!!

Hey everyone,
My problems consists of:
- The screen/touch is off. I've done Screen Alignment, it works for a couple hours or so then it just starts to have a mind of its own again
- When I slide the keyboard out, the screen does not rotate, it's just frozen in portrait mode. However, responds to the keys I push on the keyboard, I've tested it by texting someone.
The ROM I was using was a Generic NAM R3A WM6.1 when this problem occured, tried to re-flash with the same ROM, no luck and finally a custom one (Touch X 10.8) and unfortunately, still no luck.
I've never dropped the phone or done any modifications to it. Am I doomed and will have to send the phone in for repairs or is there another way to fix all this?
Thanks

If I were you, I'd have it back in the shop in no time. But you will need to put back the original rom, otherwise your guarantee will be gone.
Good luck!
Don't forget to revert the SPL since you flashed it to hard SPL.
If You make a new topic then it's pointless to use not at all informative cries for help. It does not say anything about the problem you are having.
The title should say something about the issue so people who know something about notice it and can offer to help and people having the same issue later can find this topic.
Sorry, I'm new to this message board and not really around either.

Touch Screen Troubles (big ?)

Hi everybody,
I'm using my O2X for 2 days and I notified that the touch screen seems to have some problems.
I thought first that it was due to stock rom and I switched to Modaco FR10 and after FR11 (today in fact ) same problem. I finally tried RomKitchen 1.6 with Cpasjuste kernel and it hasn't disappeared ...
My problem is that a part of the touch screen doesn't work correctly. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
And sometimes, the whole screen/touch key doesn't respond, I must lock/delock the screen I order to solve the problem.
A video to illustrate my words :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r7dOLL1U7JQ
And sometimes, the touch screen comes "crazy". As some lazy person is touching the screen non-stop and everywhere.
Do you think it's due to some software issue or do I need to change my phone ?
Thanks
That looks for me like a hardware problem.. Have never experienced something like that.
Only sometimes a first unlock try on pattern lockscreen fails, but second try it always registers my input..
I would go back to the shop and swap it!
Ok, I'm thinking of it too ... That's crap when it happens to himself
Do you know where to find stock rom/kernel ? I'm searching that with unroot/uninstall CWM
No response from my seller yet (Virgin Mobile France)

Touch screen responsiveness issue

Hi there,
I'm having a problem with my touch screen. It works fine most of the time, except, when I tap the same area many times very quickly (like when I'm backspacing a whole message), that par of the touch screen eventually becomes unresponsive. It becomes responsive again once I turn the screen lock on and off again (the top button). I've read a few threads around with very similar problems (not on here I don't think).
I replaced the touch screen a week ago, but I've only noticed this today, so I'm not sure whether or not it's related.
I'm just running standard LG software and haven't put any third party stuff on there (apart from apps). I've done a full reset using the update utility, and using the hidden menu, but this did not fix the problem.
Here's some details about my phone:
Model: LG-P970
Android Version: 2.3.4
Kernel Version: 2.6.35
Build Number: GRJ22
Software Version: LG-P970-V20C
Please let me know if I should provide any more information. I'm just interested in knowing whether it's a problem with the touch screen, or the phone's software.
Also, I'm new to forums and what-not, so if I'm doing anything wrong, let me know!.
Ok, I've realised this is in the wrong category. Was bound to have done something wrong - won't happen again!
Thanks
Hi there,
Tell me please, does the same happen on the touch keys (menu, home, back, search)?
Also, do you have any screen protector applied?
I have said this few times in other posts..iIts a strange bug, like the touch being lost.
Its fixed easy by locking the phone, thus shutting down the screeen and touch sensor. After few seconds unlock the phone and check if it is solved, or do the process again.
Thanks
Hi Guys,
Thanks for the replies, sorry I've been away for a while.
It doesn't tend to happen on the home, back, etc, keys. It tends to happen mostly near where the backspace key on the keyboard is. It happens in other places, but it takes a lot more to trigger it to happen in the other places. (by trigger, I mean if you tap the same spot heaps when writing a message it starts to happen).
Also, yes, I've applied a screen protector. The screen protector got put on about 10 hours after the new screen, but I can't for the life of me remember whether or not it was doing it without the screen protector.
Yes, locking and unlocking the phone does fix the problem, but it's a bit of a pain doing this a few times when writing a long message.
I'd really like to know if anyone can tell me whether replacing the touchscreen will solve the problem, or if its to do with other hardware/software. I've since started using the CM roms and it's still an issue.
Cheers.

No solution yet, but lets gather the resources!
Another one
I'm with one of these P970h, the screen/digitalizer is cracked but works ok, I tried updating to CM10, the touch/soft buttons stopped working (they light up), also tried official 4.0.4, no luck, then the original 2.3 carrier modded, perfectly working! came back to 4.0.4, dont work anymore...
For me it is rom related...
for now I'm using NavBar with 4.0.4
Any ideas?
another one here..almost same with other members here, softkey not respon when in 4.0.4 and up ROM both stok official or custom, but working when back to 2.3.x down ROM and it not really responsive at all.try and pray for solution.

My main reason for reverting back to 2.3.4. Usually occurred when receiving a call; I couldn't answer or reboot the phone. I had to pull the battery every time.
I'm not aware of any fix, save reverting back to a GB ROM.

i think its hardware issue,,if i press and hold a little while on upper screen (right beside lg logo) touch screen became normal again. but sometimes need to hold on there when touch not work again. a member on this forum call it a flex issue of the touchscreen.
anyone know how much cost to replace it with new flex to fix this issue?

If it works with 2.3.4 and not other versions, it's a ROM issue. Changing the screens probably won't help.
This loss of touch was reported by many users, and it's always a 4.0.4+ problem. Something software-wise is crashing, or there's a driver bug.

Soft touch button responsiveness bad in Android 4.x Roms

Hi,
ever since I upgraded my device from 2.3.x to 4.x Roms, the soft touch buttons don't respond as well or not at all in some cases.
So here are my obervations:
- Stock 2.3. and Zeus ROM were fine.
- Then I moved to JellyBam (4.2.x) and later to MIUI (4.1.x) and in both ROMs the soft touch buttons did not work as well anymore.
- When the device is connected to power, the buttons work well. Issue is only there if no power / usb is connected
- So without power the the problem manifests itself like this:
- If the device is flat on the table, the soft touch buttons don't work at all.
- If the LEDs of the buttons are off, the buttons don't work at all
- by picking the device up and clicking on the screen the buttons become active and respond again
- Responsiveness (if the buttons react) seems worse than 2.3 LG Stock rom
- the touch screen itself works fine during all of this.
I've tried several kernels, both Cynanogen and MIUI stock as well as Mackay without notable differences in this matter.
Anyone have an idea what this could be?
Thanks
Jo
Same issue here... I even tried a downgrade and switching between numerous different firmwares, stock and otherwise. All to no avail.
Right now I have no soft touch buttons except when USB connected. Which makes it not a very mobile, mobile phone.
Anyone else got a work around? Even if it means going back to (dare I say it) Froyo?
Should probably mention I am in Taiwan, using Taiwanese device. Tried EU and other country firmwares too, but same result. Also, many links for LG P970 kdz files (I like 'em, easy to flash with) are not working now. Any new sources?
Ah ha! I knew we were not alone!

Can TPTB (Admins...) please merge these and sticky it? Looks like this is a problem that comes back again and again. Would be good to have all the thinking in one place.
