Moving to Android - transfer SMS? - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I got all these texts saved on my X1 and want to get them to my new HTC Hero which should arrive tomorrow.
Cant find an option in messages to copy SMS to SIM and dont know how else to get them transfered... anyone got any tips?
Tnx

I would like to know this, too. The "copy to SIMcard" option is greyed out..

Fools! Why betray us now? (should have waited for X3)
Anyway, what phone are you guys moving too?

HTC hero as he said.

Surely I'm not the first one to run into this particular problem here, right?
Should be a pretty common issue I would think so someone must have figured something out I hope

Making a call...

Can Shift make a call???
No, it can't, unless you use Skype etc.
Hopefully, in time, a solution will be found - it will require a cooked ROM, but until a way is found to get access to the Snapvue side, it's not going to happen.
snapvue would actually be very very usefull with calling and full wm6.1 running. as it is, mmmmm ive been trying to think how i would use snap view at all...................i get all my mail on my treo 750, heh my treo has more functionaily than snapvue wm.
Uhm...really I can't understand this kind of commercial policy. I remember when Shift was supposed with two complete OS on board. In that case I'd have bought it, but now really I will not.

sure... if you manually issue ATD...
Oli! When are you getting a Shift to work on?

Now that we have broken down the walls of snapvue and have access to full wm6 (minus gps, calling, sd card and wifi) it has become a much more useful device.
I think the first thing to be addressed is the sd card slot, without storage we are limited in what we can use it for.
you do realize ATD was a joke it of course works to initiate a call, but a bit more is needed than that (assuming you want to use a real program for the phone), but no worries. as for when Olipro can get a shift... he and me are part of the shift project, so let's hope that project works out.
No chance!
Very bad...I have Shift /2 pcs/ ,there is option call, but when i tap the screen, device do nothing....I hope ...developers will give us some solution.....?!

Rumours about voice calling
Heard a rumor from somone quite close to the devteam , seems that we stand a very good chance of getting real voice on the Shift anytime soon.
It will be more than I asked/hoped for.

This covers the HTC5800, yeah?

What can I do with this phone other then what it does out of the box?
Theres so little information and work I can find on it.
hey buddy,
there isnt alot of things that can be done with the phone right now.. which company do u have it from?
the first would be App Unlock your phone to be able to install applications .. jsut search on google "app unlock S620" and follow that procedure...
I have a wm6.0 running so i have a couple of skins and stuff installed... most of the stuff that can work on the Vox Forums can work on libra as well. besides the roms ofcourse.
if you got any other questions holla for sure... i know it was a pain for me to find any information on the phone!

surprised me too! the poor phone still doesn't have enough ram and is missing wifi, otherwise it would be perfect.
I just picked up one of these phones yesterday and am still getting used to not having a touch screen. If I'm not mistaken this phone does have the GPS. What's the process for getting it to work with Google Maps, etc?
Thanks
no this phone doesnt have gps....
it has the processor which is needed to have gps... but apparently it doesnt work with any company...
iv looked around for a fix .. but no one has found out one...
and 5800 doesnt have wifi built in either

Currently no, I sent an email to wifirouter which made the great app for our HD2's and the only reply they gave me was no so good, and that for how they see the OS now, it doesnt allow for it.
Lets hope Windows fixes that. Cause we need that. I really really need that.
This one has been beaten to death in other threads but for what it's worth +1 for tethering feature here as well.

not that I have seen, my HD7 is a paper weight right now, since that is all it is good for, i got fed up with all the missing things went back to HD2.
Man, I'm right there with you. Same thing. Microsoft took a step backwards. Disappointment. I have to keep switching SIM cards to my AT&T tilt to tether. Serious BS.
all these answers have really really pushed me back, not buying until MS fixes all or most of the common things, tether, bluetooth atleast
I just got HD7 from ebay and got in love with it and the WP7 system in one hour time. But last and most important thing for me that I checked was usb tethering.
What a disappointment.
I hope M$ will make it soon available or I'll get rid of the phone unfortunately

Eh u just got the phone, give it a few days, ull grow to hate it
But yes, tethering not present is a big let down, along with many missing items, and the mid January BIG update, is nothing more then new fixes for market place and cut/paste to shut us up, which is still not here soooooo....
thats why im glad i kept my HD2
has anyone tried using the DFrouter xap posted in the hd2 development forum? You need a jailbroken device for that though..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=922000
First, is there any updates concerning tethering on the HD7? And second, why is everyone blaming Microsoft when they have already said that its availible but up to the carriers to offer it?

Gingersense 2.3.4 [Tazz Port] HTC Hub Fix

hey guys, me and Tazz have been troubleshooting HTC Hub to see why it won't connect and we'd appreciate your help. Whatever you can think of that may help, let us know and test it out yourself! Thanks y'all.
So far, I've gotten it to connect once by replacing the htchub apk with the one from the Mild Salsa 2.3.3 rom. it won't connect anymore though, let us know what y'all come up with!

As far as HTC hub not connecting have you tried to logcat?
I got it to work fine on my phone. I went to HTCSense.com on my PC and signed up there. I lied and said that I had a Desire S. After signing up, you have to confirm your email address, then sign in on your phone. So, I went to the menu to add a widget on my phone and clicked on "Get more HTC widgets." Then, I just had to sign in on phone with the information that I used when I signed up on my PC. Everything worked, and since then I've been able to access everything on the hub that I wasn't able to access before.
I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but hopefully it is. Good luck. Oh, and sorry for the messy explanation.

awesomexda, where did you purchase your inc s from? what country are you currently in?
What country has the phone originated from?
This is what happened this morning.
"I just had HTC contact in regards to my **** feedback to them lol.
The lady went on to say that someone else had contacted her about the exact same issues and she told me that MobiCity should not be selling overseas phones to us because of frequency problems and so on. She said she is going to contact them directly aswell as aussie warranty to either send me an australian built one or give me a refund because of the rare situation we are in.
So it seems like it is something with the way the phones built.
I'll keep you guys updated. "
That's on android forums.
Thanks neo-X for the information !
I'm in sri lanka. It's HTC asia one. I bought it here. I think this is a major issue. most of the people who bought the phone have been experiencing issues like this. I'm disappointed with HTC becuase they said INC S is a flagship device and has no errors. But I still luv me device even though it has got problems.
Thanks people

No idea mate. That's all i got from them.
Here is my experience- I contacted HTC support in Singapore this week and was excited to read the email response:
"I would suggest you to go to the local service center to install the lately released patch on your Incredible S on the spot."
I rushed to the service centre, only to find out that HTC's definition of a "lately released patch" was to roll back to 2.2
At least the delayed SMS issue is now resolved!

I've tried MIUI, I like it, but it didn't really fix the problem. It seemed to make it slightly better, but I was still getting messages 10 mins late or so. I've just flashed CM7 Nightlies, but it doesn't show the time stamp of when the message was sent, only of when it was received so I can't really judge if it fixes the problem or not.

Same here, im on cm7 but can't judge it.
Here is what HTC said.
"Dear _,
Thank you for your reply.
After checking, we regret to inform you that we have been aware that the message delay is a known issue after Incredible S upgrades from Android 2.2 to 2.3 But currently our engineer is trying to finding out a workable solution for it. If there is any update or patch for the issue, we would put the information on our official webstie. And from our side, if there is any update, we will also inform you. We do apologize for any inconvenience which was brought by the phone issue.
We have to say that currently for the SMS delay issue, the only method is trying to select "GSM only" mode.
But for the **phone ringing issue**, we would suggest that you may try to put your phone in the safe mode to see whether there is improvement for the phone ringing problem.
Before you put your phone in safe mode, make sure that you have your fast boot option unchecked: Menu > Settings > Power > Make sure "Fast Boot" is unchecked.
To put the Sensation into Safe Mode, you may follow the steps 1.With the Device turned off 2.Press the power button briefly 3.keep holding the Volume down button once you see the splash screen (HTC quietly brilliant) 4. Once it loads you will see on the “Safe Mode” on the bottom left of the screen.
****, we are looking forward to your kind action and appreciate the time taken to write to us. Please feel free to contact us should you require further assistance.
Best Regards
June"
Apparently Optus kicked up a stink with HTC and made them fix this issue. There is a new Optus ROM but can't find it anywhere on here.
