wifi speed increase is this needed? - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys,
Im sure most of you have already seen this but i want to check first before I install if it is worth it.
I do apologise if this is a duplicate thread but the damn search is terrible.
Here is the link dont hack into me if its "old news" as i have not seen it before.
http://pocketnow.com/tweaks-hacks/a-tweak-to-improve-wifi-speed

I'm using this tweak, but I've never tested my speed LOL
But it doesn't harm your device
It's better something than nothing, but why don't you try it out ? ;-)

Search results here @ xda suck

Ive searched high and low, here, google, bing and forceclose.com' even tried ADB and terminal to look under the hood. nothing so far.
I hate the 1.6 camcorder; no auto-focus...not even sure if there is a zoom feature. Can anybody tell me which version or which image the camera/camcorder.apk in CM.4.0.4 is from so i can port.
It looks like a mesh of Magic's and Hero's modified, but im not sure and very confused.
This is the only thing keeping me from going full-donut.
that would be the htc camera port, give me a sec and i should be able to get you a link to it
it's a little bit old but the first one i found with the search

first 2 with the search you just gotta be more specific
remember to type in android or g1 or mytouch since xda is a very large resource place for different types of os es

THANX bro
you say first...i assume reguarding the search results but there arent any updated or modified versions of said info right?
EDIT: also there shouldnt be any stability issues to encounter. i mean why release 1.6 downgraded w/ less features?
it is not less features, just the stock camera that came with the phone's most likely
i don't use the camera on my phone ever so i couldn't tell you much about it, just from helping out or reading threads
try adding the month in on your search sometimes that helps
i put in htc camera .apk android so try it with a oct after it

[Q] RFS corruption of /system. Do I need a fix. K9 is safe.

Hi guys & gals,
I have been following this discussion for about a day & I have a question for you all.
Am I correct if I say that THIS FIX is for people who want to migrate from ULK to VOODOO? On the face it appears so. If I am sticking with ULK for some time to come, do I really need this FIX? If I want to go to a STOCK ROM, I would definately re-partition, format etc etc.
Why did you create a new thread? You already posted it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9378337#post9378337

Thats because I wanted this question to be more visible, After I typed the sentence & posted & read it again, I thought it has some truth. I feel this way after reading so many posts & trying to put things in perspective.
Especially read sztupy's post in the original thread.
looooooooooooooooooooool kalpik is following youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
& to be honest, I have been using sztupy's kernels since he started with his multinational ROMS. Then on to his lagfixes. Till today I haven't faced a single problem because of the kernel. Most of my problems were my stupidity.
As usually, you keep opening unhelpfull threads.

Thanks.
I am an average-abled user. Like so many here on the forum. This topic is so tough on me.
Even if you stay with ULK-based kernels, for example if you would want to upgrade to SpeedMod K9, you would still want the corruption of your /system fixed.
The fix is just a fix, not a trojan horse. After using the fix to repair your /system, you can safely flash for example SpeedMod K9, or whatever kernel you like, without running into the issues caused by a corrupt /system. (Unless you are smart enough to install a corrupting kernel again .)
Supercurio's fix is based on Voodoo code because that's the tools Supercurio has and knows, but the fix doesn't even apply a lagfix. So those who want to really use Voodoo, still have to install it seperately.
In my opinion there's way too much hostility in this story. Someone makes a fix, and because of that he is trying to steal your souls? Just use whatever work you like, and don't use what you do not like... Let those whose work you like know you appreciate it. But don't go calling the farmer names because you don't like vegetables. Just don't eat any .

Or to any other kernels that use the mounting options that can potentially cause corruption. Which as far as I know, is ALL kernels, except K8 and older.
And of course some will be able to upgrade from anything to anything, the corruption is not instant, so some will not have it (yet).

I feel sorry for the people in curios fix thread who are flashing the FIX left, right & centre & landing themselves into various problems. They are just lambs. They see a FIX, They will flash it.

SO this is basically a migration problem between kernels.

Of course I disagree about the way you say it, but in the middle of this there is a valid point and I need to improve the FAQ around the /system RFS fix.

ok now we getting somewhere in drips and drabs...
So now its not a RFS issue as stated by some top devs.. but a kernal migration issue right ?
I feel sorry for those who are also trying to find there way around, but seems as this is the only way forward...
sztupy has admitted that he knew about this a month back. Then I ask WHY hasn't he corrected the code yet?
I really dont remember the thread & the post but its easily searchable.
Sleepy time now, Lets really be rational here. Logical even.

Highest Quadrant benchmark with MIUI/CM7

Hey guys. Just want to compare what the overclocking capabilities of the SGS and so I'm asking you:
What's your highest benchmark score?
Mine was: 2628 with MIUI v.5 Glitch v.10 Kernel overclocked to stable 1500 mhz.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Who really cares about outdated synthetic benchmarks?? And WHY is this in Q&A?

My specs: CM7 #15 nightly, Chainfire 3D(makes score worse ) and kernel is CM7_SGSMTD_20110603-09_r_platypus-revolutions-kernel_0_NEO_06(no-led-notif)
Just for you I overclocked my SGS to 1500 just with the CM7 settings there (tried 1600 but it froze) so on the 1500 made 10 quadrant runs (or more)
And this is the best result (it averages between 2900-3000)
I guess without the chainfire3D it could go higher . Also with this kernel even though the synthetic benchmark shows awesome speeds. It feels lagging in the UI

No one told you its rude to answer a question with a question? Also everyone, including the OP (for sure) knows that quadrant scores means nothing (check my comment). WE ALL KNOW.
AND?
And let me repeat myself AND? What did your reply bring to this thread? Did it help the OP? If you claim its bad bad, you could have at least write why? (Then my reaction would be nicer)
But to write "Its bad", has no value for the poster or the thread... And frankly these posts here are more common as the ones "how big is yours?"

Who ever said "It's bad"? And this Q&A section is for users asking questions, since they genuinely require some help and assistance. This belongs in General. And, there's no point flaming me. You're not getting anywhere with that. This thread is still pointless. There have been several topics such as this before, and like it's ancestors, it will die soon...
EDIT: And for the record, if you EVEN KNEW JACK (if you know what that means), you wouldn't have bothered replying here.. knowing the pointlessness of it all..

And again you post nothing to the thread, just completely OT...
this is from the rules:
Q&A (Questions and Answers) - all questions, irrespective of type, get posted in here whether they be theme related, accessory related, technical, etc.
Also, if you know it will die, why you replied as a first person how futile it is? (please dont answer this, also the answer is known)
nothing more to say, just asking nicely not to respond if you have nothing of value to add

ah right, i found that app yesterday, so do you just let shootme run in the background the whole time?
i find it quite troublesome to run shootme only when i need it as you'd have to repeat the process of tapping its hide button then switching back to the app you were before.
can you tell me of a better way to use it?

Really? You sure? Actually, I have to disagree with both of you. Yes, in most circumstances Quadrant scores are useless without seeing the big picture. However, I wonder if when overclocking, if there is anything that might become slower? Generally with overclocking, you are trading stability/efficiency for speed.
Whilst a doubling of scores may not reflect a 200% increase in speed, in similar rom's with similar hardware, with similar apps running, it maybe can be used for comparison.
That being said, I could overclock my phone and produce the highest score, yet, it may only be stable enough to survive the Quadrant test 50% of the time.

Did yours?
There are 2 sides to the story:
1) I'd be guessing though this is a dupe. There are MANY quadrant related threads already.
2) On the other hand, in the dark ages, many people defended Quadrant as though it was bloody accurate as new roms were being released. I think of them as the dark ages because reliance on quadrant left people closed minded, making decisions based solely on quadrant scores. They gave up on ROM's simply because Quadrant told them to. If reminders aren't posted every so often, we might spawn a new generation of Quadrant worshipers.

Ah sorry no. I dont take so many screenshots. So for me its is sufficient. But there are alternatives to it just look into related stuff. Also it doesn't have to be shake activated I guess.

StreakDroid Honeycomb port Questions...

Sup everyone, im not much of a poster... i like to read more then i post but ive been trying to find some info just cant put it all together so hope some of you can help with this...
Ive tried three of the honeycomb ports, the 2.0 ,2.3 and 2.5,
From what i noticed 2.0 works fine except for it wont get a 4g signal or atelast it wont show the 4g icon only up to 3g but ive used bluetooth fine, no lock ups nothing so its runing perfect on my streak, ive had some issues with some apps "qik,netflix,NFSshift,"... i managed to get netflix working with the Xoom or asus patch found somewhere here... but qik just wont work nore will nfsshift... but regardless im extatic with it its amazing.. and ive noticed its running alot faster.... the Ui is insane love it..
Have any of you had this same issue is there any way to fix it to get 4g signal? dont really care bout the apps...
2.3 seems to get the 4g signal once the apn is done correctly but after a while of no use it just wont come back one i have to use the reset button thats all i could find with that one plus the top mentioned...
and 2.5 just didnt look right, everything was way off not sure if its due to the dpi or resolution and what not but once i saw that i just went right back to the 2.0 ...
As far as the Official Update ive been reading its only going to the wifi version, has anyone heard or know of someone already waiting for it to port it to the 4g version?
on another note... Any widgets like the youtube and market one but for the picture gallery/videos....
Head over to Mod Edit the latest builds are over there. Its up to release 4 now.

Google the words " tablet roms streak '' . You can't miss it
P.S
I merely told him what to look for and where. I see no violation of xda rules by doing so. If you mod edit that search line, ill be forced to draw attention to higher ups. Long time XDA'er here.
I noticed or saw something weird cause it says mod edit but as gulible as i am i actually searched for "mod edit " lol but i then realized it ment a moderator edit what previous poster had wrote.

[Q][i8190]Best modem working in Venezuela plz?

Hello friends...
My question is for venezuelan people (or someone who really knows about it) :fingers-crossed:
I wonder which is the best modem working in Venezuela for the i8190 international version. Which one provides a good signal and a low battery consumption?
I wait for your opinions! Thanks a lot for your time! :good:

Thank you very much @mauam for your fast answer. I just would like to know some venezuelan opinion, some experience hehe...
But you're right. I'll have to try it by myself. I don't want to excuse myself but the thing is that I almost always use the phone with wifi all day long for giving internet conection to my PC, so, it's kinda difficult to try it by myself
That's one good reason for my question
EDIT: @mauam how can I know/realize which one isn't draining too much my battery? Sometimes you can't see the difference but it has to be, right? Even a little... How can I see that?

Don't know, maybe with wakelock detector app. I never feel/realize that my BB drain my battery, anyway. Regarding the BB location, for what I know, even if I'm in the same country as you (& using the same BB), but in different place it can affect the performance of BB. So, again, you need to try by yourself & take your own conclusions about which is the best for you.

Data conection drains battery, sometimes more, sometimes less, but drains. I think it has to be with the modem in a way, so... Better modem, better conection, less drains??
In other hands, which kernel do you use? Which one works better for your mini? (sorry, i know i'm off topic but don't want to make a new thread with that question, take it like a personal question )

I use CM11 from novafusion as daily driver (with is own kernel). BTW, better you start to read the XDA rules first. Not allowed to ask which is the best rom/kernel & use the search button before ask something. Don't take me wrong, you're new here so the best is read firstly the rules. Any doubts you can also PM me.
