My kaiser's touch screen suddenly has aquired an attitude. Some time it works, some it doesn't. When I touch nothing happens. Also when I slide open the keyboard, it works, but as soon as I close the keyboard, it stops working again. When I reboot, the screen works, but it stops after some time. Then it works if I open the keyboard. I have done hard reset, but that hasn't solved the problem.
Is there any thing I can do to fix it.
Now the touch works only if keyboard is open and doesn't work when closed. Any tips (already did hard reset twice).
With more research, the touch screen works but only when pressed very tightly at the point shown in figure (See red circle). Is there any solution to this ?
Will this get fixed if Change LCD ? Or can it be fixed by tightening some screws ?

I have an AT&T Tilt...until Friday it worked great...It has WM6.1, HTC Home and spb Mobile Shell.... Friday I changed the screen protector from the same pack that I have used for months and then the problems started.... Randomly when I try to touch the screen it appears to lock up, but then the start menu will drop down. The soft buttons work, but then every once in a while the start menu will drop down again. I have soft reset to no avail, but then in an hour or so it will start working fine again. Anyone have any ideas, does it sound like a hardware or software problem? should I hard reset the phone and start over? Help
Thanks
Andy
pull off your screen protector.
chances are you have it touching on a side which causes pressure somewhere else and it (touchscreen) thinks its being touched in a different place.
which in turn makes you believe its locked up, since it does not have multi-touch touchscreen it will not respond because it is perceiving a touch somewhere else.
Thank You...Thank You... I believe that was the problem.....
After replacing the screen and reinstalling the HTC Rom I am having the most frustrating keyboard/button issue.
When I turn it on everything works great, it's like a new phone. No problems.
When the screen shuts off, either manually or automatically and I turn it back on is when the problem arises. When using the phone with the keyboard, the phone seems to randomly after any key (only on the keyboard) push the center button the front.
Lets say I'm typing in Word, after the 3rd character for example it will save and quit. In SMS it will make a new line. In explorer it will bring up the context menu. Each time the buttons on the from of the phone will turn on, which they shouldn't be doing.
I can use the buttons on the front to do what ever and the problem wont come up, only with the keyboard.
What could I have screwed up while replacing the screen? The thing I don't get is the correlation with the screen shutting off.
Fixed
I fixed it and I'm posting here in case someone else has the same problem.
The faulty part was the scroll wheel and it's little PCB board. I replaced that and now it works. I also discovered that if that piece is missing, you will have the same problem.
i was replacing my g1 digitzer. I had the guide with me still took me 12 hours to figure out how to do it. i disassembled assembled it thousand times before the slide was properly working and touch screen was functional. Now the problem is, something is wrong i cant figure out.
When i open the keyboard the screen doesnt flip orientation. It does on its own.
When i type through keyboard the buttons change randomly and they dont respond to what i am pressing
. The music volume bar shows up it self , the sound is very very very low from the speakers.
Camera still works.
touch screen working perfectly.
The trackball, menu button, and all those on that panel are working fine.
please help me fix this thing
This not the right place for this. But might have somthing to drivers? And know this probly won't help but u should wipe ur phone if you have not all ready.
Youll have done what i did when i swapped my housing round, i missed 1 conntction that stopped my touchscreen working,,, and then i realised i put the keyboard sensor on upside down :how embarrasing smiley:
actually i damaged one of the connectors on the strip of my keyboard
everything else is working now except for few alphanumeric buttons!
most of the time but not always when i slide the phone open the screen goes blank. i need to open and close a few times to get it to properly rotate. is this a hardware issue? how can i fix this. i searched it and others have had this problem as well but i cant find a solution.

Hope your phone is still under warranty, if not you're going to have to pony up cash to SE to fix it or you can try to fix it yourself.
the thing is mine sometimes works fine when i slide it, it rotates normally without black screen. other times when i slide it open the screen goes black, i open and close it a few times and it goes to landscape normally.
I would also suspect the ribbon cable, might be your abrasive wear only just started affecting your phone
are you still on warranty?
Hi,
Xperia X1 is three weeks past warranty. Touch screen suddenly stopped working; Display screen still works fine with keyboard in or out. All hardware buttons and keyboard buttons worked, phone worked OK, it was just the touchscreen that was dead. Never had any display problems when sliding keyboard in and out like I have read in here.
HOWEVER...
My mobile Tech Support told me to reset and now all I have is the initial Windows boot screen that says 'Tap the screen to setup...". WTF? Of course when I tap the screen nothing happens.
Is there a key or button combination I can use to invoke the setup routine? Is there anyway to connect it to a PC and control it? Be nice to get the phone back to working, I can live without the touchscreen for now.
There could be an issue of the flex cable being loose. You could try and open your X1 and re-attach the flex cable and hope it solves the issue.
There are some videos out there that shows you how to do it
