Ok im new to the WM world and i know im probly going to get bash with this but how do you update to 6.5?
i heard you need a hardspl but i dont see it no where on this forum?
i know its a newbie question
HARDSPL is not ready yet for Rhodium - so at least you need to wait.
there are also no official 6.5 port atm
but there is not official - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=547794 - but he needs HARDSPL, so it useless atm
and the same qustion was asked about 8 posts lower, so next time use search - before posting questions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=538313

Hello there...
I ordered my herald...actually a p4350 and i will be receiving it in a few days..
But as i know it will come with WM5 installed.
So,
i am trying to understand the procedures explained here but..
Theres some modified roms as i see.
So what should be the path to follow...
Upgrading to WM6 from htc's webpage ? or is there any modified wm6 images around?
And what is rom called for? A kind of theme that should be installed after upgrading?
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance..
The best advice each one of us could give you is to start reading the posts your interested in. Make sure you have read enough to know what you are going to do and what to do when it goes wrong.
If your Herald comes packed with WM5 and you simply want to upgrade it to WM6, the best way to do this is by downlaoding the official RUU (Rom Upgrading Utility) for the HTC website (europe.htc.com).
If you're familiar with WM6 and you want to use a customized package then start reading the posts on how to upgrade, the (im)possibilities and it's pro's and cons. Start with reading the topics by ITje on how to upgrade to his rom. The latest version is Touch-IT V3 for Herald/P4350.
Make sure you have the official RUU before you start upgrading to the customized ROM, because you need that one incase you brick your Herald (means something went wrong during upgrade and it isn't working anymore).
All the answers to any question you might have can be found in these forum's. To make sure you don't piss of people or ask redundant question search the forum until you're desperate before you ask something.
Good luck!
do i really need to do this to run the "cube" programs and other stuff?
-how would i do this, could I simply download and install any 6.1 ROM from the Shipped ROMs wiki?
currently I have 1.62.502.0 and radio 1.27.14.09, which was only under the WM6 section in the Shipped ROMs wiki so i'm going to assume that is what i have, (also thats what it says in my phone settings ha).
i think u should ask this in software section & no need to start new thread.
my bad sorry! i gotta say any other forum and i wouldve been kicked out already ha!

Or you could just go to the phone manufacturers website and download the applicable file there and follow their (comprehensive) instructions. If you want to keep things all official, it's actually a very straightforward process. You only need to bother with hardSPL etc if you want to flash a custom ROM. A very important question you should ask yourself is why do I want WM 6.1. If you're thinking it's newer so it must be more reliable/better/faster etc etc check out the threads in Kaiser General relating to all the problems after upgrading - at least with regards to most of the official HTC ROM offerings (certainly the current UK one is included). I tried WM 6.1 for a while and had such significant problems, I had it reverted back to 6.0.
MMMMMM
To me WM 6.1 appearance is more sexier than the WM 6.0. Thats why am looking to upgrade my device in to WM 6.1
Flying Kiwi has a point about doing it officially - I'd forgotten that there was an official 6.1 rom. That said, for me custom roms are much more fun!
I've had both 6.0 and 6.1 on my phones and to be honest, I can't tell the difference.

What are you doing with your phone ......
Having tried both, there's very little difference between the two as far as the TyTN II native ROMs are concerned. It's only the customised ROMs that offer a flashier flash (but you can also get alot of that stuff through installing cabs - full details in the wiki and by searching/reading up on the xda-dev website).

Hey there,
Am I wrong that there are wm 6.5 betas out there? Where can I get it?
Is there a Manila version for it too?
Bye,
Chris
Hi yes there are WM6.5 Betas about but we need the HardSPL first. Im just waiting for the official release from HTC which will be WM6.5 and TF3D2.5 as i have a retail TP2. Not sure when this will be but hopfully sooner than later.
Once HardSPL has been released im sure there will be lots of chefs cooking WM6.5 Beta ROM for our TP2s
Please read and search before simply asking a question.
Dave
Hey guys,
I know this may be a stupid question, but I just want to confirm it before I go on flashing a new rom.
Since most of the new ROMS are Windows 6.5, am I required to have the 6.5 OS on the phone first? or does the ROM itself come with the OS?
I'm currently on Tmobile and they don't have the 6.5 update yet
Thanks!
No worries at all about not having 6.5 already installed. Just be sure and follow the directions in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550540
If you don't HardSPL, well...
Edit: I just noticed, you have Touch 3G. You'll want to find the appropriate forum for that phone. I think it's also known as a Jade(?).
