X1 auto-redials while headset connected - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I tend to listen to my X1 in my car using a tape deck-3.5mm adapter, but whenever it's connected it will randomly call whatever my last call happens to be. I don't have voice dialing active (which is what I thought the problem was), so it's not picking up ambient noise thinking it's an order to call someone, and it seems to get worse depending on the song playing.
Yesterday I had a two-hour drive, and I only managed to get through maybe two dozen songs due to the interruptions. D: I even had it dial, hang up, and then redial again before I could close the phone function; multiple times in a row! My last calls list has the same number on it about a hundred times within a two-hour timespan XD
Any idea why this happens? Doesn't do it with a stereo bluetooth headset.

I think the wire may have an issue with the phone triggering a redial command. I used to use a Kaiser that had this issue with a 3.5mm adapter when the wire inside was broken (music would break up when moved). This is like using the button on a wired headset. When I replaced the adapter, the problem was gone. You might want to try wiggling the wire to see if that causes it, or get a different 3.5mm adapter.

When I plug in my headphones the phone redials the last number

This is weird. I got a usb->3.5mm jack so I can plug my headphones into my kaiser. Whenever I plug the usb jack into the phone, the phone opens the dialer app and redials the last number I called. As soon as I hit the "end" key, it calls back again, and continues to redial until I unplug the headphone jack.
um. wtf?
Anyone have any ideas what might be happening? I've been through the control panel and registry but don't see anything that relates to "redial my last number as soon as I plug in my headset"...
Your adaptor is faulty.
It sounds as if the wires which carry the answer/hang up signal are shorting/grounding out. On my adaptor if I press twice on this button it redials the last number. Get it replaced or take it apart and check the wiring.
I have exactly the same. On Hermes (HTC TyTN). When I plug in extUSB 3-in-1 Adaptor it behaves weird. Sometimes it works okay. Yesterday it was always trying to start Voice dial. Today it made last call redial 15 times before I even noticed it was redialing.
My Wing does this too, but not all the time. I'll be listening to streaming radio at work when once in awhile it dials the last number I called. Weird. This is first I heard of anyone else having this problem.

That's funny. I was listening to Howard the other day. Thought he was playing a prank phone call but it was my phone dialing the last call. I hear Hello, Hello. Freakin weird.
Anyone find a resolution to this?
I just got my htc pro Tuesday and experienced this behaviour last night with the 3-1 adapter? Anyone find out what is going on? It only seems to happen though when I plug in a 3.5mm (I didn't try the 2.5mm slot) headphone without a speaker/call button.
I'm glade I'm not the only one having this issue...I just got mine a few days ago and it does the same...hope someone finds a solution for it soon
If it's any consolation I have a 3-in-1 USB Adapter working fine with my TyTN II using the original HTC supplied headphones so either your headset or adapter is faulty. They have very thin wires inside them with not much insulation so take the adapter apart and have a nosey as already suggested for crossed wires (or return it under warranty if your headset plugged in directly to the phone doesn't exhibit this behavior). You can also check with a multimeter (though not while plugged into the phone).

Why does my phone ring with headphones inserted?

If I receive a call while I have headphones connected through the USB connector the ringer sounds through the phone speaker as well as the headphones (Normal profile). On every other phone I've had, inserting headphones into a jack socket mutes the external speaker.
Is this peculiar to the S730/Wings or the custom USB connector? Is there a fix or hack for it?
I could put the phone on vibrate but then I wouldn't hear the ringtone through the headphones - or probably remember to switch back to Normal when finished!

The ExtUSB port is designed with a metal contact on the square side (on the "back" of the port) to detect the headphones. Make sure that the contact is made. This may or may not be the problem; but it's a good starting point.
I'm thinking not in my case because the ext speaker is muted for music but an incoming call will activate it?
It sounds like something software related but I don't know where to look.
I had a look at a friend's Kaiser yesterday and that does exactly the same thing (and I tried their HTC media controller in my Wings), so it doesn't look like it's exclusive to this model.
Yes. This was posted also by darksider:
if im listening to music with any application through the earphones, it makes-that the sound is at once also playing through the phone speaker, and i have to restart
hey i have the same problem....
if i am listening to music using the headphone and i become a call, then the ringtone comes through the speakers and also the music that i am listening to.
this is a big problem..
thanks
any solution??!?!
I suffered the same problem in the bus, and was very embarrassed because everybody looked at me and I didn't notice...
You have to report this problem to HTC (or reseller). More responses = better chance to find the solution in upgrade. But you HAVE TO DO IT!!!

Audio mute bluetooth car stereo

I have my Diamond paired to my car stereo for handsfree and audio playback. When I start the car I see the stereo connect to the phone and then about 2 seconds later the stereo switches to the bluetooth input and then 4-5 seconds later switches back to the radio or my ipod. During that 4-5 seconds I hear nothing.
Last week I installed one of DonSolari's ROMs and my phone stopped doing this, I didn't like the ROM so I switched it to a different one and the problem returned.
I think it is being caused by the phone making a sound when it pairs to the stereo. Any other noise made by the phone causes the same thing to happen, you never hear the noise presumably because it has already stopped by the time the input is active.
The ROM I'm using has sense 2.5 so I don't have access to the standard windows sounds screen, does anyone know the name of the .exe for this screen or another way of disabling this sound.

Headset Problem with HD7

I have a weird problem with my HD7. When I have my headset (the one that came with the phone) plugged in, I cannot make or receive calls. If I try to make a call, it will instantly end the call. If someone tries to call me, it will beep as if the line was busy (I also don't see a miss call until a while later). However, if I make a call normally and then plug in my headset, all is well.
Anyone have a solution to this? I don't believe the problem resides in my headset, I have the exact same issue with my beats headset (the one with the mic).
i can recive and make calls, but
with headphones plugged in, the internal mic dont work, have to pull it out for the mic to work...
a few issues with gen 1 wp devices i think
I've fixed my problem. I had to do a hard reset, I'm thinking it could've been an app I installed that messed with something, I'm not sure.

[Q] Headphone and Bluetooth Audio Weirdness

I'm wondering if anyone else is having strange behavior either with Bluetooth audio or headphones. The phone is AT&T stock rooted 1.26.502.10 with unlocked bootloader and CWM. Here's a brief summary of what I am seeing:
When listening to audio books using headphone (Audio Book Player app) when I place the phone in my pocket in a locked state, it will wake up and dial the last number. It seems like there is a pocket sensor that is tripped and initiates a call. This can repeat itself several times. The dialing attempt tends to terminate itself if I don't intervene in time. I have not been able to reliably repeat the behavior in a predictable manner.
For bluetooth audio music (paired with an up-to-latest Ford Sync system) there is inconsistent behavior when using Google Play Music. Sometimes everything is fine. Sometimes on-screen (car side) audio controls will not work. Sometimes it will skip to the next song after possibly 10 seconds on the current song.
This is driving me crazy. If I don't figure it out, I'll throw on a custom ROM this weekend,
Thanks!
I have not had any of those issues so unfortunately I cant be of much help. The one problem I have had is that I have a bluetooth headset that also does media playback, which I always disable when in the car because my car does not do bluetooth and I want the audio to go out the headphone jack. Everytime I disconnect the headset it rechecks the "media" option on the headset and my audio plays from my headset and I have to go back to the bluetooth options and uncheck it. Very annoying.
Looks like it is a hardware issue. I can replicate by turning or wiggling the headphone. Problem appears to be in the headphone jack.

I have experienced the song skip as well. I can't successfully recreate it, but it always occurs when I'm on my motorcycle. At first I thought it was the headphone control being depressed, but I have eliminated that. So I think it does have to do with vibration/movement of the phone somehow.

Try putting pressure from various angles on the headphone plug as well as pressing on the case in the corner where the headphone is inserted. Much weirdness ensues in a very repeatable manner.

Hmmm...nothing happening when I do any of that.
I found that the wind across the microphone is somehow triggering the skip, for me anyways. I use the headphones that came with my One and I simply placed a piece of tape over the microphone. No more song skips.
Very strange as nothing is activating the voice control in the first place.
