Just got a new Diamond... but... WHAT KIND IS IT? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

I just got an HTC Touch Diamond a couple days ago, but browsing this forum, I'm not sure where to start.
First of all, I live in Winnipeg, Canada, and even on the HTC Website it only shows Telus, Bell, and Rogers as selling HTC products in Canada. I've got MTS. I wouldn't be worried (it's probably a Bell phone) but I go into this forum and there's people going 'Oh it's a CDMA only thing!' and I don't know if my phone is CDMA or not, or if it's even a Diamond 2 or a Diamond 1... anyone know how I'd find out?
Thanks.

if it don't have a sim slot it would be cdma

well I looked everywhere, no SIM card slot as far as I see, so I guess it's CDMA. Thanks.

in which case be careful that you only flash CDMA ROM's on your Diamond.

Check the model # on the label under the Battery. It should be just above the white portion of the label. {i.e. HTC P3700 DIAM100 ... <this is mine}. Then clicke the "Device Database" link at the top of this page. enter your model # in the search area of PDADB {top left}. This will tell you all you need to know about your phone.
Also: GSM phones use IMEI #'s & CDMA Use ESNs for identification. {NEVER give these #s out}

Got wrong diamond? please help!

I bought a brand new looking htc diamond today and i think i screwed up big time. I am with T-mobile and when i got home i discovered gthat my diamond does not have place for a sim card. It says sprint on top of it, does that mean its not a comatible phone to T-mobile or is there a some sort of workaround? Would i be able to use it somehow on metropcs? Any help would be appreciated, hate tho think i just wasted the money on the phone that i will not abe able to use((
Not familiar with T-Mobile put it does sound like you purchase a CDMA Device which doesn't use the GSM (sim card) technology. There is no way around this other then reselling it and picking up the right device.
Could you post a photograph or a link to the brand of the phone? Is it HTC? Is a Diamond? Sure? It sounds a bit strange...
I never haven't seen a CDMA device so...
Where did you buy it from?
How hard is this?
He bought the Sprint CDMA HTC Diamond. It won't work on T-Mobile, so just resell it and purchase a GSM one.
yes your phone is not gsm
send it back or sell it on

My HTC Touch diamond has never been recognized by HTC!!!

Quick story:
I bought it off dell.com like 2 years ago. I saw there was an update for it, so I went on HTC's website and put in my S/N. It said it didn't recognize it. I tried returning it to dell, but it was after the 15 day return period. So, I got screwed...and out of frustration I just cut my losses, forgot to put it on ebay, and threw it in the closet.
What should I do? I'm thinking about just installing a custom rom on it and throwing it to a friend but there are too many....any recommendations on what my next step should be?
Oh yea, to note, this is the GSM version of the HTC Touch Diamond. I've seen roms for the CDMA version...but not the GSM
I have a same issue but I always use custom rom therefore I don't care about it.
Is it a branded diamond?
The HTC site doesn't allow you to update branded Diamonds. For example, it doesn't recognize the S/N for my O2 branded Diamond.
Just put in a custom rom, they're much better than the official ones albeit more prone to bugs. Try different roms to see which you like best. Don't forget the flash the HARD SPL first.

normal ROMs are for GSM, if it says CDMA, then its for the CDMA.
Hi guys
I head the same problem during a support.
It is surely due to the fact that the mobile is "branded".

Easy way to distinguish between an ATT and TMO Nexus One?

I have a TMO Nexus One, which gets 3G no problem. My friend has a Nexus One that was bought for her, but she only gets Edge. When she puts her SIM in my phone, it gets 3G. When I put my SIM in her phone, I only get Edge.
My hypothesis is that she was accidentally given an ATT Nexus One, and not a TMO Nexus One, which explains why it will connect, but no 3G. My next test is to find a douchy friend with an iPhone and drop their douchy SIM into her phone and see if it gets 3G. But before I do that, is there a model number that I can tell which distinguishes the ATT vs. the TMO Nexus One?
Thanks in advance!

Odds are, your suspicions are correct. Check the APN settings in her phone to confirm that they're entered correctly, or entered at all. Sometimes this information is not entered. Worst case scenario, if it IS an AT&T N1, put it up on Craigslist for trade. I see a lot of people doing that in the Dallas market.
***edit****
One more thing, upon boot-up, is her bootloader unlocked? Do you see the unlock icon on the initial boot-up screen? If it's not there, then she DOES have a T-Mo N1. A T-Mo SIM can't work in at AT&T N1 unless the bootloader's unlocked.

APN settings were correct, but I will redoublecheck to satisfy my own OCD. her bootloader is locked, however, and her phone is bone stock, so this is doubly strange...

why not? the phone itself is carrier unlocked, why can't a T-Mobile sim work in an AT&T phone?

this is what i thought as well
Under the battery, there's a model number like PB99100. I got that from the TMO version. ATT is different, but I don't remember what it is exactly, something like PB99109.

I'm pretty sure PB99110 is indeed the model number for the AT&T-version N1.
I got my N1 from eBay and had to ask about the model number to make sure I have the right version.

[Q] GSM or AT&T cyanogen

Ok so I did some searching and couldn't find anything on this so I desided to make a post on it. I purchased the Dev HTC One off the dev forums on HTC's website. I was curious should I flash the ATT version of cyanogen or the GSM version. I don't really know how this would matter unless it had something to do with a minor hardware difference but I don't know at all. I have an AT&T SIM card in it right now for service so I am leaning towards the ATT one but ATT is GSM and because I didn't actually purchase this from ATT and did purchase it from HTC Dev that makes me thing well maybe I should get the GSM because that is more universal. Or hell maybe it doesn't matter a bit..
Could someone please tell me what one I should be using.
Thank you!

[Q] USe Sprint HTC One (M7) On Verizon Network?

I haven't been up to date on flashing and switching carriers in a few years, I used to do it all the time.
My girlfriend broke here phone (Verizon Contract) and needed a new phone, we got a good deal on a HTC One (m7) Model No: HTC PN072. And purchased it.
I thought it was still be the same old flash the radios call Verizon and keep asking for new people until I get someone who can offer to activate. Now I am looking for an unlock tool and all I can find is GSM SIM unlockers, and can't find the right Verizon Radios for this phone.
My girlfriend is pissed because now she doesn't have a phone and we just spent money on this new phone. Am I SOL? Or is there a thread somewhere that my googfu just can't find?

i tried to do this for a phone for mom. it doesnt matter what you do with the phone- verizon has white lists now. if they dont have the ESN in their system, they WILL NOT activate it. you have a sprint ESN, so you will never activate that on verizon no matter how many times you call them.
sucks, i know. I had to buy a verizon m7.
It can be done using a donor phone the same way you would fllash a phone to metropcs. you can find plenty of tutorials online just replace everything metro with sprint.
Any luck on this? I have a Sprint HTC One M8 that I wish to bring over to Verizon. I'm not new to changing ESNs and I understand the legal ramifications of using a service that is unpaid for, so that aside, I'm paying for the service. I had bought the phone intending to switch to Ting, but the IMEI is locked to Sprint for one year from release. I have until April when that gets unlocked, so I figured to use it without the SIM card, since that's what allows 4G LTE usage on CDMA phones, at least from what I am told by people and the phone (once I removed the SIM card it started giving me that message). Hell I'm ok disabling data altogether, but as long as I can make calls and text, I'm jolly.
You could flash them to pageplus although I think they only have 3g.
Pageplus has 4G albeit at a reduced speed but effective 1/15/2015 they will not accept flashed phones anymore

This is illegal and not appropriate conversation on XDA. It's out there though, although I've only seen people flashing phones from Verizon to Page Plus or Sprint to Virgin or Boost. Never seen Sprint to Verizon or vice versa.
I was under the impression that Sprint and Verizon use different signal frequencies, and that the radios installed by HTC during build were specific to the frequency. Yes, they are both CDMA, but different frequencies.
