Without making things too complicated, and to simply get you back up and running. just flash another ROM....
That way you will have your phone back in working order and you can do some more research regarding ROMs. Keep in mind that many of the Hero ROMs are still somewhat buggy but are coming along nicely. The good news is there are many Hero ROMs to choose from so picking another will likely fix your acore process force close.

im seriously ready to shoot this phone I wiped, cleared the ext 3 times and if i ever get to the OS cuz most of the time Im stuck at HTC and the little hero keep looping. I will wipe ext and alt wipe and try to load up a different rom

Yeah..i think that would be a good idea. You can try cyanogen's rom. Probably the 3.9.10 version, which is a pretty fast and stable rom, and then just get Ted417's Hero theme(which I think is the best Hero theme out there) flashed on there to give you that Hero look minus the widgets of course, if that's the look you're going for.

Mind telling us what you did to fix it so others may know if they have the same problem?

Hi there, I'm having the same problem.
Hero was fine until I did a factory reset (I'd cleverly managed to lock myself out of it via the security swipe).
Anyway, did the factory reset and now I get the android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly problem.
I'm not that keen on installing other ROMs at this point, just hoping you can share your solution.
I'm guessing but it seems to be connected to my contact card within contacts. (If i wipe the info in that and log out of facebook the issue stops).

What I did was load a different rom non hero first, than updated to a hero rom and it worked. Because I couldn't figure out how to get rid of it lol. But personally I stopped using the hero rom, there to slow, and missing to much stuff such as bluetooth and etc.

for what its worth. hero itself is not a theme. and neither is cyanogens roms. when you said that "this theme is garbage" you may have been talking about the wrong item.
also to get rid of a rom, just wipe, plain and simple.

looking to hero! Some questions

Hello all,
I'm curious about somethings for turning my g1 to the hero (rosie?) rom (wow it looks beautiful).
The first being Where can I actually find it? I found two sites that offer it but doesn't seem like its from the developer themselves (who I'd trust more).
Secondly, which developer has the best performance (e.g. speed, ect.). I've read that it is a deadly slow Rom and I already lack patience for my g1 now (It's the stock firmware). The hero its self looks much smoother, am I wrong?
If I can't risk my phone being bricked should I bother trying it? (I had it JF rooted in the summer which I did successfully on my first try, and I un-rooted it.)
Is there a text document with how to install with a video that coincides?
Lastly, Is Cyanogen a better rom? (this has next to nothing to do with the hero rom )
Hopefully I didn't miss a thread on this I searched for like an hour.

You cant just start driving, you have to learn the basics. When you get in a car there a many things that you need to do first is learning and even taking test.
You must have root first and a recovery image and im guessing your all stock. The dream section has all the info needed to root now is up to you to decide if you want to read it.
-Best regards
Thank you. I am very comfortable with the rooting process. I just don't want to do it unless the rosie rom is worth it!
Basically, Hero is incomplete. It doesn't have Bluetooth nor full Google Voice integration, and it runs 1.5. However, at the rate the devs are going on Hero 2.1 the version it runs could change very soon.
For now, stick with Cyanogen as it is a better Rom. Hero doesn't really work on the G1, it's slow and there is a lot of core function missing. It will never be an everyday ROM. I think of it like a concept car. Its cool in a "look what we can do" sort of way, but just wait for the next HTC Android phone.

Its not slow...You must be running a super old version..Hero 2.1 roms and 1.5 roms are both very fast...King's 2.1 is very fast and close performance to cyanogen, please dont misinform people. All current hero roms are fast, in a 2.1 rom you can achieve 20mb+ free ram which is about the same to a cyanogen rom. Maybe you used a old jac rom months ago.

I'm sorry to say, but no I have tried many Hero configurations on my class 6 as recently as a month ago. The fact is that even if there were drivers for all of the hardware over time Hero really starts to bog down. It will not always perform after that post-setup peak it has.
If you want working hero wait until the first 2 weeks of January when the Passion comes out.

Going to try this tonight. Read and watched the videos. seems very simple. thank you!
need help!
When following this guide http://theunlockr.com/2009/08/22/ho...ps2sd-onto-your-g1-or-mytouch-3g-best-method/ (I already did the one click root with no issues)
In part II of the guide
. Download the custom SPL for your device:
T-Mobile G1 – Here
MyTouch 3G – Unneccessary, skip this section and proceed to Section III.
3. Plug in your phone and mount the SD card (pull down on the notification bar and select the SD card notification then click Mount in the pop up window).
4. After the SD card shows up on the computer, put the SPL zip file on to the memory card.
5. Once it is done transferring to the memory card and you have renamed it, unplug the phone from the computer.
6. Turn off the phone and then turn it back on by holding down the Home and Power button to get to recovery mode (keep holding it until the recovery screen with the writing and black background come up). Here i get to the ! so I hit Alt + L to get to the recovery screen. It gives me the menu to reboot, apply zip, wipe. However at the bottom of the screen it says E: Can't open /cache/recovery/command
7. Once the recovery screen is up, click on Wipe Data. Once that is done, click on Apply Update.zip and wait for it to finish. I wipe the date and then apply zip. I then get this message __ Install from sdcard... Finding update package... Opening update package... Verifying update package... E: No signature (5 files) E: Verification failed Installation aborted
I'm assuming this means the SPL file is corrupt but I don't know much and probably am wrong.
How can I fix this? I got this far with no issues and so close to being done!

both gave me the same results.
UP AND RUNNING JACHERO
Thanks a bunch ace. In the two minutes its been up it's looked as good as I wanted it to!
so my son grabbed it this morning, it froze i took the battery out. Now it keeps going to the hero screens over and over again. what should I do?
If I were you I would try re-flashing. Do you have a custom recovery.img? Like Cyan's or Amon-Ra's? If you do, try wipe cache, wipe ext part, wipe cache, and then re-flash. That's always the first thing I do when my phone starts getting buggy.

Camera and camcorder force close after upgrading to Cyanogen 4.2.12.2

Just today I upgraded to the latest Cyanogen release (4.2.12.2) on my G1 from pre-4.1.99, and any time I attempt to open either the Camera or Camcorder, it Force Closes, and returns me to the home screen.
I've tried cleaing the cache/data for both the Camera and Camcorder, but that didn't appear to fix the issue. I've also run the fix_permissions command as well, which didn't help either.
Any ideas on what might help fix this problem?
run fix_permissions from console... and post in correct section next time
I apologize for having posted this in the wrong section - where does it belong?
Also, I stated in my OP that I ran the fix_permissions command; from the console was implied.
In the 4.2.12.2 thread.
Thread Moved to Q&A.
I just tried two things: first just wiping and flashing the Cyan Rom again, and that didn't fix it.
Then, I wiped, installed the 1.6 base rom, and then Cyan Rom on top of that, and I still get Force Closes for both the camera and camcorder.
So, I'm still stuck. Any more ideas?
Do you have any apps that use camera (Google Goggles, Barcode Scanner, etc)? You may have to wipe data from those as well.
Also, do you have apps2sd? If so, wiping is not as effective as it is without it. If you do apps2sd then you need to run this from terminal
Code:
su
rm -r system/sd/dalvik-cache/*
reboot
Good luck.

I tried running these commands in the Terminal Emulator, and after the reboot, I still get FCs when trying to open the Camcorder and Camera.
I collected the log, and have attached what I believe to be the relevant portion of it to this message.
Any more ideas?
same here!!!
I am having the exact same issue as you show in the log file
have had some success in reflashing base rom but it only works for a day or so (or hours in some cases)
believe it to be an issue with the drivers but something is killing the camera every time
have removed all apps and reflashed but now it just keeps fc
if any of the devs working on camera issues could have a look please help
cheers

same here, and I tried:
going back to 4.2.8 (where camera last worked for me, before going straight to 4.2.13),
I tried wiping,
I tried removing and and re-making the ext3 partition
I tried reflashing the radio (2.22.19.26I from http://code.google.com/p/sapphire-port-dream/)
My camera is still dead (force closes)
If you have the same issue (camera force closing, flashing older OS not fixing the issue), PLEASE go to Cyanogenmod project Google Code website and click the star next to "Vote for this issue and get email change notifications" on the bottom of the page. You have to be signed into your Google account.
Voting for this issue will raise it's priority (crucial, as it seems to affect a small number of units so far, but it's a show stopper).

Much respect for Cyanogen and all he does for further the HTC Dream: G1 community.
However, if you are having so many issues maybe its time to change to
another Rom altogether. Just my 2 cents..

I too a while back had problems installing roms and constantly seeing FCs on my phone. .
The way I fixed that problem was using a bigger/better/faster microSD card I already had.
( @Cqms: I see you already have a newer microSD however, perhaps formatting it after backing up your contents first suits you and then copying everything back once finished. Finally wipe completely/flash Rom and you're set).
Formatted it fat32, since I copied my data on the pc first I copied what I had to the new one.
And finally installed what in my opinion to be one of the best Roms (see my signature) through the wipe/flash procedure and have been extremely happy since.
Camera is back (sort of!!)
Ok as suggested by Legend in above post - wiped formatted etc and flashed super D ROM
Camera comes back but has some kinda solarisation effect which I cant seem to get rid off.
Added to this is my contacts and dialer keep fC ing on me so this ROM is a non runner for me even with a semi working camera
getting closer to the fix though
maybe ima try reflashing cyanogens latest again and see if i can sort the weird effect on the camera
heres hoping

Market Not Working on Any ROM

My market stopped working while running enomther's AOSP-1.6_r1.4 + ADP DRD20 w/ v2.5.1 - Expansion-Pack.
Then I install CyanogenMod v4.2.14.1 ... still no market.
Next manup456's Eclair_2.1-v1.5... no market
then eViL_nano_SenSe_v2.0.1... no go
So, I try going back to stock... now running T-Mobile 1.5 and the market is working fine... any thoughts anyone?

Can you actually open it and it crashes or does it say it's not installed? I've been through a similar process of going through roms trying to get my market (mine says its not installed) back without success.
I think it had something to do with using apps2sd and then having my card get messed up, but I'm not really sure.

The market opens fine but anything I try to downloads never starts.... just hangs... Saying "Starting Download" but never starts.
I tried reformatting my SDCard... Removed all partitions in GPart, reformatted the whole SDcard in window (not quick), repartitioned in GPart... same.
Then tried a different SDCard... same.
Well... just flashed RA-sapphire-v1.5.2 and install CyanogenMod v4.2.14.1
and the market is working fine.... odd.... thanks.
next time that happens if it does an easy fix:
go to settings - manage apps - and clear the data and any updates if there are any...
happens when you apply some themes...

But that wouldn't cause 4 diff freshly installed roms to have the same problem.
Same is happening to me!!!!

yo i got so fed up i backed up everything on my pc, and just did a hard reset...it worked..
Well, that's just the market being itself....
Some versions of the market totally suck
The only version I liked was the green one with the curvy stuff
Never has failed any downloads
Seriously,, works every single time!
It comes with a few roms but you gotta make sure you disable market updating so that you stay on it

[Rooting] In all honesty, is it really worth it? Im thinking about going back to stoc

**Edit: I was completely wrong.. I figured out everything, i know what i'm doing now lol.. thanks guys.
My first time rooting was a couple days ago when i had learned about the "1 Click Root" method...
I succeeded, got that latest ROM (to my knowledge) CM6 RC2 from the trusty (lol) ROM Manager.. which i enjoy a lot since im rooted and what not. I also themed my ROM a couple times to (what i think) are pretty cool themes..
But anyways, to make a boring story short (lol).. I absolutely hate (with a passion) wiping my data to my phone when i see or hear about this awesome new theme i want.. people say it is a must to wipe ur phones data to apply the "best" effect..
This gets REALLY old.. i had to do this like three times yesterday because i kept seeing new themes i wanted lol.. Re-entering passwords and re downloading all of your apps everytime you want a new ROM or want to apply a theme is too much work for how "great" rooting is.. Dont get me wrong, i love the new style of my phone, it looks amazing, but man! do i really have to keep wiping data to apply the things i want??
I now, noticed that all my contacts are not my phone. Only the contacts phones numbers on facebook that i had sync'd.. "My" contacts that i have in my phone are not there.. I imported them from my sim card and re-booted, but still not there.. Could this be because of my theme?
To what really made me mad was my camera, it keeps force closing.. Is this also because of the theme? I have the normal radio ending in 4.06.00.12_7.. I do not know if it didnt work before i applied the theme or when i rooted, i just realized last night it didnt work.. i do not want to re flash cm6 to see if the camera is working just because i do not want to "start" all over again.. with wiping and all that... if i have to, sadly, i will.
I had stock froyo frf91 before i rooted my phone.. in all honesty, should i just un root my phone and go back to the way it was? because if i have to keep wiping data, and starting over, im going to blow a fuse lol..
*** Sorry for my aggressive tone everybody, i just would like everything to be a smooth ride wth no wiping and i can apply themes as easy as 123 without losing data.. is there any ROM or theme that you could recommend?
please, someone help me... thanks xda community
I don't ever wipe when I upgrade to the next version of cyan, so I don't lose a single thing. People say to wipe if you have problems. But you shouldn't have problems which means you don't need to wipe. It runs perfectly fine for me this way with no issues at all, no force closes, etc.

The way I do it (maybe not the fastest) is to set up your rom exactly how you want it, nandroid, then install any mods that might eff up your installation. Once you've installed the mod and you're 100% sure mms/wifi/bt/gmail/etc are all working, you can nandroid again and use that as your base.
The only time you'd need to wipe is if you want to set up another rom so you could switch back and forth between different roms.
And by different roms I don't mean updates within roms, like CM6 nightlies or enom's updates, I mean completely different roms like CM6 as opposed to enom.

Ok thank you.. what about for themes and what not...? it says i have to wipe as well....
Your problem looks to be trying to navigate complicated stuff with lack of skills.
There is a good reason to root "old-fashioned" way, without 1-click stuff: if you read all you need to read and understand (various guides that teach you how to work with recovery etc) to root, then you won't get lost when rooted. Now you're trying to do stuff without even knowing, how things work, and let me guess - you didn't read any guide, you don't know how to work with recovery w/o ROM manager and don't know how to load a ROM, etc.
My suggestion is - go to Development section, open the stickies with guides and start reading. Do the same in General section, and don't skip the Wiki either.
Root brings you full control of the system, and it's excellent - knowing your way you can do tons of stuff, theming being the least interesting/important. But to control, you need to know and understand more than "1-click stuff".
Or you can just go back to stock, if you see no added value in a rooted phone.

What theme are you talking about, I don't recall seeing any themes requiring a wipe.
The only thing I can think of is a pre-themed rom. If you don't know the difference between a theme and a themed rom, you should follow Jack's advice and read up.
Your mistake is thinking that because there is an option to wipe in Rom Manager, then it must be necessary. No it isn't. The option is there for the people who want to wipe, but upgrading from one CM to another won't need it, themes won't need it, etc.
It is your job to know when it is needed or not. And you get that by reading and understanding how your phone works.
just wipe the Cache and the Dalvik Cache, the only time you must fully wipe is if you get boot loop when flashing a new rom/mod/etc.

You just uncheck the wipe one. Besides you can just use recovery and don't have to use ROM manager.

You certainly do not wipe to install a theme. That makes no sense! You would lose all your data all the time.

I'm still running stock unrooted. One off the main reason why i don't really want to root is because I know how customizable our phones are, and i love new things.. like you, if i was to see a new theme Or rom I'd jump on it straight away. I don't think I'd ever stop!!

Honestly that's exactly why I didn't root for 3 months. But once I found my exact setup now I just know how to setup each new ROM quickly. After that point now its just fun to tinker the phone and try the cyan nightly. It's really better to just root it. I was in the same spot as you I know what you mean.

Hey bud, i was absolutely wrong on my post, deleting everything is not what you have to do, it gives you an *option to do it.. The one click method is great man.. no harm is done, the bootloader is still locked.. you can unroot if you dont like it.. btw, if you root, ur gonna love it lol.. there is so many options into customizing ur phone!! I still haven't stopped haha its great bro I'm tellin ya

[Q] nexus one cyan mod problem - big one for me

hey guys, new to rooting my device. always been heavy into customization and seen alot of work on here for cyanogen mod. so - went ahead and did the one click root. worked fine, checked with superuser permissions, and rom manager. downloaded cm 6.0.0 stable. "flashed" that rom onto my device, and it asked me to reboot to take effect. so hit reboot. and it is now stuck on the startup boot logo for cm6 with the blue android with the circle around the edge (im sure you all know what im on about) having a look about cant seem to see anybody else with this problem.
heres hoping somebody will help me out, hopefully make me look like a prat and tell me its something really simple and easy to do. beacuse im not liking my phone right now at all :/
Boot into recovery, wipe the device, then reflash the rom.
okay, after having a play i've got it to boot into cm6.0.0 with google addon, however it now says there is no internet connection. anybody?

Stick to stock rom, CM6 kills your battery within a day, half a day if you are a heavy user. I am a lot into customization too but after moving to cm6 I moved back to stock within a week. I think your phone is hinting to you not to install cm6
i didnt know cm6 did that to be fair brother. however, that doesnt solve my problem at the moment. if i find i cant live with it, then ill reset back to stock or a different rom, but at the moment my main priority is to get access to my internet again for the time being whilst i look into different roms
Mine did the same thing. I just waited and within 5 to 10 minutes my phone started and I was able to use it.
