since i partition my sdcard, cant upload any pictures to anything - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

it always ask: Do u have a sdcard with enough free space installed? or it doesnt recognize the sdcard
is anyone else experiencing this problem? and if so is there anyway to fix this?

ummmm did u try using a sd card adpater?
U can also try adb but that would be a pain in the butt. I suggest reformating your sd card and repartioning it. Use the parted method from console cause that never gave me any errors....

Possible to Unmount SD card?

Hi all.
Is it possible to unmount and remove an SD card when using CM v4.0.2 with a partitioned SD card, and CM v4.0.2 is running A2SD, while the phone is on? I just can't seem to figure it out. The unmount button is "greyed out".
If so, please let me know how.
Thank you.
i have the exact same problem....my pc wont even recognize the phone anymore....i'm trying to get the usb pop up on the phones notifications n nuttin happens
As I am tinkering, I think it has to do with the A2SD that the rom supports.
Obviously we cant be removing a card that the system is using.
I can still mount when I plug into my PC, but most/if not all(haven't tested all) the apps wont run, I get a "Please Check Your SD card" message.
I would just like to hear from someone more experienced than me(newb) to back up what I am thinking to be true.
Thanks
It's kinda weird, you can't unmount the card because you'll have issues, but on linux it mounts ext too, so you can modify the contents while the phone is running. Although whenever I've tried it's caused loops ><
@Teflon - Try using usb mode in recovery: go to the console and type to mount "ums_enable" and "ums_disable" to unmount.
Hi!
I would like to be able to remove the SD card from my phone.
I can't do it right now b/c I have Apps on SD configuration.
Is it possible to kill all running applications and to unmount the SD card?
I don't see any reason why not, but has anyone tried it already?
Thanks
The safest method imho would be to 'power off' the phone, remove card, boot phone. Cumbersome - maybe - but it's a trade-off with the excellent App2Sd.
I believe it is swap that is not allowing you to unmount/ mount to the computer, try disabling swapper and then try or download and burn an ubuntu live cd and use that to acess it, I can make changes to my ext3 partion while it is mounted in ubuntu. But I never had a problem mounting untill I started using swap which I would have to turn off to mount
Born, must of us have our dalvik-cache running off our ext partion so even if you killed all apps you could still corrupt your card

my problem with installing a ROM

so i repartitioned my sdcard with a 96mb linux-swap...ok no problem
but when i try to put the ROM in the root of the sdcard through my card reader windows xp wont let me...
all it does is ask if i want to format my card
my girls notebook and newer pc will let me...why cant i get mine to?
is there a fix for this?
ive had to dl the ROM to my original sdcard that came with my g1 and after it boots swap to my 2gb card
any help would be appreciated...thanks!
You could do this a few ways. You could download the ROM directly to the phone via the browser, then move the downloaded zip from "download" folder, to the root of your SD with any file browser app. Or, you could push via ADB. Also, make sure that you did infact format the card properly. Maybe you don't have a FAT32 partition.
i usually have reformatted my card every time i install a new ROM so i do have a fat32...
just got adb up and running on my pc so i may have to see about working with that
im more curious as to why my pc wont let me...but hey...whatever works! lol!
guess its time for some more research in the forums!

[Q] How to Root without internal or external SD card mounted?

Like the topic says I need to root my phone without internal or external SD card access.
I would like to do this so I can try to backup my nv_user and related files before I try another partition since I have had no luck finding a solution to being able to mount my external or internal sd cards.
I have the "Mount Point absent or incorrect." error dialog showing up in my status bar.
I tried searching for solutions to both problems but Have been unlucky so far.
For sgs u definitely have a internal sd.
you definitely have an internal sd-card. however if you want to do it without or have problems with it you can flash a kernel+su with odin: thread on samdroid
cheers, jo

Phone says neither them are mounted. Same as in the recovery mode. When I check the sd card and memory in the settings menu both are unavailable. It says I am running off 2 gigs of system memory.
So yes I have an internal sd card. It just won't mount and in recovery mode it won't be found.
That's why I said it wouldn't mount. Not that it didn't exist.
I trying not to flash the phone until I can make a back up of thee nvdata files. So I will check the kernel flash and hopefully it won't effect the nvdata. But I'm guessing it does.
I should have stated a different Title for this thread as my real problem is either Int/Ext SD card corruption or something else deeper within the phone.
I will try formatting it with ubuntu like someone else suggested. That will have to wait until I get home and take a bit since I have no linux experience.
Also, the memory *2gb is showing is labelled as Internal Phone Storage.
Thanks
I'm assuming this has to do with the fact that your phone wont flash anyfirmware after JPC right?
Let me know how it goes.
I can flash but it took some messing around. None of the other firmwares even the stock bell one are stable now and I have no access to either the int or ext sd card. Just the 2gb internal non-sd memory. And after JPC my signal is pretty messed up.
My (wifes) phone now also says internal sd card unavailable.
Is there a solution to this? Happened after I upgraded from JH2 to JM6. The same upgraded process worked on my phone (followed the guide exactly).
Guys, just have a look around these forums or use the search button. This is the most common issue with the I9000M and there is no need for another thread about it.

[Q] not mounting internal sd card

i need help..
i think my internal sd card have problem, where it cannot be mount using CWM..
from yesterday i tried everything to flash my galaxy s..

i mean by removing the whole system and change with a new one
you can format the internal sd card. other than that i dont think there is any other option.
may need a trip down to the local samsung centre
is this software or hardware problems?
most likely a hardware fault, did it happen at a particular time ?? like flashing a custom ROM or was you on stock when it happened ?

If you don't find other solution, put the card in an adaptor and just copy them to the PC.
Have you by chance deleted a folder called external SD from your memory card, coz it formats your sd card. Try recovering files from sd card through connecting it via some other usb card reader.
there are programs, that can save the photos even if you format a disk or in this case a sd card...
let me find one for you,,,, don't know if it works...read in here...
http://www.easeus.com/resource/sd-card-format-recovery.htm.
of course there must be other programs better and free, I really don't know if this easeus is of any good...
never tried...
you must have a sd card reader in your pc of course...
thx guys
i tried to use other adapter and i find no change as i still can not found the sd card via pc.
i sure that i have not delete the file of external SD, it keep showing Blank SD on my 4x.
i am really frustrated about that...:crying:
Maybe sdcard got corrupted. Try formating the card from your phone if it gives you the option. I dont think this will be repeated.
sad..
in fact i dun care about do the sd card can function after all.
i just wonder can i get back my file:crying::crying:

may be your sd card has corrupted or it is fake, how long are you using it?
once i bought a fake 16gb card it worked good for few days and then the same situation as you are in. and i found no solution to recovery my files as it becomes strange, files are there but you can't use them anymore, can't delete them or copy them.
try using some partition manager after inserting your card into your pc and check if your card is there, and it's status.
if your card is fake, i have no solution,
if it's corrupted, it can be brought back to life by formatting or using other partition recovery tools i think.
i dun know whether it is fake or not, but i have used it for around half a year already.
i dun care whether it can come alive i just want to get back my data.
today i have send the sd card to a engineer, he said he fix it but it cost a large amount of money and i am not able to afford it.
and then he recover the sd card to the original situation.
it means that there must be a solution for it.
can anyone help:crying:
i had the same problem too. my 32GB went on and off after i dropped it from 1 meter high.
i used these two recover as much as my files as possible.

but still be prepared to not be able to recover anything at all.
