SDCard problem? - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok I have apps2sd and sometimes when close the keyboard it freezes and on top of the screen it says sdcard removed. This happens all the time and it doesnt always say sdcard removed because it freezes too fast. My SDCard is in the place under the call button and the cover is closed so its not being removed? Is there a way to fix it because its very frustrating?

more information would be a starting place. what rom are you using. are you using the symlinks or the unionfs method for a2sd. what class sdcard do you have. how big is your second partition.

Sounds more like a hardware issue to me (IMHO). Loose contacts?

ringtones on sd cards react very slowly

Hi people, here's the problem that bothered me for long, about the ringtone reaction.
I'm using Cyanogenmod 4.1.999 the latest one on my G1, and had configured the ringtone with the files on my SD card (by an app called Ringdroid). The problem is, when there's a incoming call, usually the screen lights first, then the info of the call is displayed. However, after about 5 seconds or more, the ringtone starts.
Having had the issue with all older Cyan mod versions. But I don't think it's the ROM's fault, as I know that it may takes time for the system to *read* the file on the SD card. However, 5 seconds is too long.
Is there anything I can do to improve this? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Never used that app. If it's slow reading from the sdcard, it's the application's fault or your sdcard is sub-class 6. I recommend upgrading your sdcard to a class 6 if you haven't already.

its not the apps fault.
There are scripts somewhere in the dev section that changes the priorities so the phone rings faster. its a common problem
Yea I haven't done it yet but you can read up on BFS in the dev section. Also my phone was doin that and I cleared all data and cache and cleared the dalvik cache (See B-man I spelled it right this time) and that helped mine. In terminal type:
Code:
su
cd /system/sd/dalvik-cache
rm *
exit
exit
It will take awhile for the phone to boot back up so don't worry. For everything else clear it in your manage applications settings.

***Htc Touch Diamond2 (aka Topaz) Android*** much more stable

This is a great version of Android 4 topaz
It contains a new linux image, a new vresion of FRX (03 modified)
Major changes

* Internal improvements to auto-backlight implementation
* Disable JIT by default for various stability improvements
* Updated gapps package (20101114)
* Much more easy to import contacts from SIM (no google accounts and other stupid things.
* Bugs fixed:
o 19 – Boot loop on first boot (fresh data.img)

o Possibly 12 – Terminal emulator special keys/digits do not respond
And a lot of more.
thanks to txtter I connected phone to pc and I installed a lot of stuff

Lets talk less and start a small tutorial
1. Insert your MicroSD card into a card-reader and format it as Fat32
2. Unzip the content of Topaz.rar
3. Copy the unziped files to storage card
It should look like this
/Storage Card/
/AndroidApps/
/conf/
/media/
/STARTUP CONFIG/
/STARTUP.TXT
/haret.exe
/initrd.gz
/rootfs.img
/system.ex2
/zImage
4. Safely remove hardware and eject media (it is recomanded for your MicroSD) can be founded near the clock on the startbar.
5. Insert the card into device
6. Use your explorer to go on storage card and start haret.exe

great
i installed this with frx02 it works perfect on my topa100 only the menu by network you can normally pull down it that doesn't work but for the rest no problems thank you
U are welcome... i recomand u to try it with the frx03 version
I will try to upload and some applications for android
Is there any chance to get the frx03 modified by someone?
I mean, removing all the unnecessary apps, all these stuff like market,
google maps, carhome, gmail, youtube, googlabackup and sync,
feedback and partner setup, I would like to have just clean one.
You can install this stuff if you need it.
The more of this junk is there the bigger the chance for crashes and
longer loading time. I am willing to donate something for such work.
I have installed all the latest packages, sometimes when you run haret,
my TD2 restarts and loads OK on second run, sometimes it freezes when
I answer the phone, sometimes I can't make phone calls, receive any
and sometimes I don't have service at all.
frx03
i have tried iit with frx03 it becomes slower after i restart android
hello body ... i wana know how is battry usage in this one ... and what do you mean '' Stable '' ... thanks ...
About battery.... i had install some apps for android, test them, listen some music and setting up the device in my opinion the battery is ok no problems.
Stable i mean no more freezes when somebody is calling, no more freezes when phone is sleeping . Only camera is still no working
Sorry for my english
I have tested it again, today. Reformated the SD card, fat32, installed OK,
runs a bit sluggish, when goes on standby doesn't receive any calls, whoever is trying to ring, tells me that there is no message just rings 4ever, phone doesnt ring and doesnt wake up.
You have to restart the phone and rerun haret to get the phone fully functional again,
but only till next standby or sleep.

write this into the startup.txt file: pm.sleep_mode=2
I follow the installation instruction but the phone pops up a message saying
"HaRET: Booting Linux ..."
then not responding anymore.
What could be wrong?

Thanks but it is still not working
A message box pops up saying "HaRET: Booting Linux...", then the phone freezes after the green bar loads fully.
May I know what should I expect to see after this?
Regards.

hi iasi_me, i had same problem. i solved it using another android-rar-archiv. first i copied this to my storage card and replaced only system.ext2 and module-file. now its working fine. i have not checked whether there is a difference in one config file. i think there is one.

Ok I found the problem. For some reason the "andboot" folder got renamed to "ANDBOOT" after I copy it to my SD card. I renamed the folder back to "andboot" by using the file explorer in my phone and now it boots up fine
Thanks.

[Q] Lockscreen unlock delay

I am running SpeedMod Kernel K3-3 on stock LPY rom. On the lockscreen I use WidgetLocker (but problem also was happening before I installed this). Pretty much been happening since I installed SpeedMod.
When I click the home button the screen comes up fine. Sometimes I can go ahead and do the normal unlock procedure. Meaning I can grab the lock and drag/swipe to unlock and it works. BUT many many times (and possibly because of deep sleep) there is a delay. Basically my screen is frozen...I cant access the notification bar etc etc...and when the screen is about to blackout again (6-8 seconds) then I can swipe to unlock. So essentially there is a 6-8 delay many times from being able to actually swipe on my screen. Has anyone experienced this or have any advice on what to try. I have wiped my data from CWM already and still happens.
I was going to try and ask this under my rom in development but I don't have enough whatever it takes to post there. I have also searched and searched but didn't find this exact issue or a fix for it. I have seen tons of threads about the clicking of home button delay though.
Is this the 1st custom kernel you have used with stock ICS?
Have you tried any others like francos r6 as it seem to work fine with LPY roms?
first kernel I have tried. Maybe I will give Francos a shot. I have been reading a bit more and see that maybe it could be related to my SD card? Not sure why or how this could be but I understand that when it deep sleeps so does the SD card. I have nothing to my knowledge monitoring the SD card though so I dont know why it would freeze trying to access it.
unless your widget locker app is on your sd card i wouldnt see any reason for it to effect unlocking your phone.
The only thing I have really on my external SD card that is used by the phone is ringtones/notification/UI sounds. I have copied those over to the phones SD card and deleted the ones on the external SD card. Going to test this out to see if this worked.
UPDATE - that seems to have done it. Amazing. So I guess the bottom line is to not have anything that the phone system uses or needs on the External SD Card. Tones/Sounds/Wallpapers etc.
Thanks for helping olliesmith6121

happened to me as well, i noticed that widgetlocker was on external SD, and is doing the same problem as yours. I noticed it when widget locker is always closing when using usb storage, so i transferred widgetlocker on PHONE memory and it worked, no more delays and force closes whatsoever
Dammit problem started back up again. Definitely deep sleep has something to do with the issue.

Odd Lockups with multiple Roms

Alright guys this forum is pretty kickass and I was just wondering if anyone else could give me some insight to these weird quirks my Moto Droid4 is giving me.
Issues:
-Many apps that need to access SD card don't save properly i.e. TB gives insufficient storage error on scheduled backups, sometimes photos don't save correctly
-^^ Also related is sometimes when trying to connect as "Mass Storage Mode" via USB to my computer the device will lock up or when I try to write files to the SD card the transfer will lock up and the phone becomes almost unresonsive
-SD card and writing to the card becomes fickle if I ever mount and unmount, to the point where sometimes it won't mount until I reboot the phone
-Sometimes the phone will just become unresponsive altogether and exhibits periods where it will turn on the softkeys but the screen won't turn on. Hitting the hold button then ends up just toggling the softkeys.
I've tried:
-3 Different Roms now, all JB. Two different 4.2.1 and one 4.1
-Checking the SD Card with windows built-in disk checker and sector fixer. Everything "Passed"
-Turning off all CPU overclocking components and apps.
-Making sure newest Busybox and SU app is up to date and allowing all apps.
I think its the SD card but I don't see how the phone not turning its screen on or becoming sluggish could pertain to that.
Thoughts?
Thanks in advance guys :fingers-crossed:
Have you tried to back up all data of the SD card format the card put data back on and try again... my wife's RAZR did this and that fixed it...

I believe I have, but I will do it again as soon as I'm done with the Disk Checking for the 3rd time. Will post results
Completely nuked my internal storage and SD card, by formatting. It still does lockup everyone now and then and by that I mean it will blink a notification, and sometimes turn on the softkeys when I go to hit the hold button but the screen never comes on. sometimes the softkeys respond to me hitting hold and they go on and off but the screen won't it requires a reboot to fix. Is it the phone at this point?
Changed to a different SD card same model same brand and class and since then I have not experienced any of these problems. And I can rule out bad files on the card because I copied over everything from the other card straight to this one. Its been about 5 days with not one problem. I will give it 10 before I call it.

[Q] Error DF XX

When i restart my ace, i always got same issue Error DF XX. I don't know what is it? When i make photo my phone tell me : your SD card is full.
