Ever since I upgraded the Xperia to RAA3, the green LEDs that blink on reciept of an unread SMS message, are very dim, I have missed many text messages because of this. Other LED notifications, such as missed call, reminder, etc., are all fine, nice and bright, easy to see, but, the unread SMS is extremely dim. Has anyone else experienced this, or, better still, is this a solution without my messing about with registery items myself.
Brian (Huddersfield)
You rely on those lights to receive sms's? lol
i usually use the vibe or the ringtone, but hey to each his own.
But on a serious note, maybe its dim just because the green is a dark color in itself compared to the others the phone produces.
Hi ........
Yes, I do rely on the flashing LEDs, as, I'm often out of the room or out, when coming back, it's nearly impossble to tell if you an unread SMS etc., without actually turning the phone on.
A small CAB file to increase the brightness of the (green) LEd would be great ...........
Xperia Tweak (in sticky apps collection) lets you change the LED pattern very easily ...have mine on quick blue flashes -nice and bright
Hello Jcsxda
Thanks for taking the trouble to reply, I can't seem to find that particular cab file you mention, an you give me a link if it's not too much trouble.
Also, I recently upgraded (via the offical SE site) to RAA3, will this application still work with the later RAA3?
Thanks in advance

Hello again Jcsxda ........
Seems someone popped in there and broke the thread. If you could please post a link to LED modify prog. for the Xperia, I would be grateful, if you have the time of course.
My green LEDs for an unread SMS are very dim, the others are fine, nice and bright.
Thanks

Orelsi was being helpful -its the first link on the page he posted ... "XperiaTweak v2"
Here is the link to th edevelopper's own site where you can dl the app:-

... Opps, sorry, I didn't realise it at the time! I can see the point now.
Finally, will it work with R3AA, whcih I recently updated to?
Thanks again.
Brian
Yep -am running R3AA myself
....... OK, thanks for that, much appriciated.
try spb phone suite which has a phone notification feature to remind you by sound or tone for any sms or missed calls on a preset time
Dull LEDs on unread SMS, other are fine!
Hi Ericmateo .......
Thanks for that, I did look at the progamme, but it does more than I need, does not modify LED brightness and will probably occupy valuable memory space.
My problem is, the SMS unread LED flash, is very dim regardless of what colour I change it to, this probably means the 'lit' duration is so short, any chosen colour will still be dim.
I only noticed this after upgrading to RAA3. This is my only gripe about the Xperia, I absolutley love the phone, having goe through all the 'XDA' series, this is certainly the best so far.
Anyone else any ideas please?

this is a specific program that is being developed to change the patterns of the LEDs easily.
Check it out. It works a treat and being updated all the time.

I did a search but couldn't find any topics, hope this hasn't been covered before.
Recently I've lost two girlfriends (one after the other) because of texts that should not be on my phone. I'm starting to get slightly annoyed with the repetition. I probably don't deserve help on this...
Obviously I could lock my phone with a code, but this raises suspicion. So what would be great is if I could edit the reg to disable any SMS notification at all (and perhaps rely on the HTC Home to show when I have new SMSs). Is there a reg edit for this?
Alternatively, is there a reg edit to stop the notification from showing who it's from and the first few lines?
Failing both of those are there any other suggestions, other than flight mode, that I could stop untimely texts from being seen by prying eyes?

You need a Bat phone aka 2nd SIM and only give out the number on that one.
Delete all incriminating txts from inbox as well as sent items, my mate got found out from his sent items. He has the bruises to prove it.

Instead of trying to make seem like you aren't unfaithful/don't care about the girls/flirt etc... Have you considered just stop sending the txts?
If you're getting messages that aren't supposed to be on your phone, call your provider. If you are trying to weasel out of the consequences of something you did ... suck it up.
I wouldn't date you either.

WOW! I didn't realize that your request for a registry edit would turn into a morality session.
Thanks all, really appreciate the replies, i love this place. GSLEON3 thanks for the app, it seems perfect, and am testing now.

It's not the sending that's the problem, it's the replies! I'm not trying to excuse my behaviour, but it's not always that simple. That is to say that jealousy can blind the reader sometimes.
i guess your having problems with the girl actually going through your phone and seeing who sends the txts? if its just the pop up box you get when u get a new msg you can go into sounds and notifications and turn it off. i have been using palm threaded app for a while now and it has a privacy mode, it will give you the pop up box, but wont say what it says or who from. best thing i can advise to you is to just delete your txt msgs, its the easiest and only fail safe way. oh and make sure you delete them out of the deleted folder, hehe.
Thanks Cashin. I know deleting is the easiest and cheapest way, but doing that is actually quite laborious, as you have to remember Inbox, Sent Items & Deteted Items. Also, I don't like to guard my phone 24/7, I like it to sit on the bed side table sometimes without being paranoid about the bright screen powering up with an sms.
I've trialled SecretSMS for an afternoon and it's perfect, so I purchased it. For predefined contacts, the light still powers up when you recieve a text, but no other notification, and a password protected inbox/sent items. Great stuff.
Alright, First off I searched using the search here and using google using keywords of '' wake up, tilt, kaiser, text, notification, etc. ''.
But I couldn't find a answer to my question so, here I start a new thread. If anyone has owned a Blackberry, (dont kill me now lol) but when you recieved a text. your device wouldn't wake up from sleep untill you woke it up. is there something similar i could do with the tilt? any thanks would be appreciated. I had already searched google, tried diff. options on the device i couldnt figure it out. So I'm hoping I dont get flamed.

bump 0 ha. hope no one gets mad.
Not sure about making it not wake up, but you can control the notifications to make it less intrusive. There's the built-in WM6 notification options, or if you want more control, the Kaiser Notifications program.
The thing is, I've tried threw the settings, nothing stopped the backlight from turning on when i get a text. I have Kaiser Notification for the LED's at the top, thats how it is on the blackberry. Your phones asleep but will still make a noise/vibrate and then a LED will alert you.
It's just annoying like in a movie where when you put your phone on vibrate and put it in the cupholder, the light still shines... not fun when your backlights all the way on. if you know what i mean
bump, but with a question.
or does anyone know a way so that when you recieve a text the backlight stays off instead of illuminating? any help would be apperciated.

Backlight
I use PhoneAlarm Pro to handle my notifications for SMS and Email and it's setting for no backlight on SMS works fine for me.
Yup can verify that PhoneALarm does this .....

This is a collection of registry tweaks to allow greater control over the notifications in WM, including the ability to prevent repeating sounds for reminders. What it does is enable the controls in "Sounds & Notifications" that are normally unavailable for several types of notification.
It's a further enhancement of Juggalo_x's enhanced notifications, which has never been updated or particularly well explained (at least not on this website!) ... I have also included the low battery tweak, as suggested by juiceppc in that thread.
Large credit goes to fredjones32 for this guide with an explanation of the registry values and how the repeat check box can be enabled.
These are the notifications included:
ActiveSync: Begin sync
ActiveSync: End sync
Beam: Autoreceive
Connection disconnected
Connection established
Low battery
Messaging: Downloading MMS
Messaging: MMS downloaded
Messaging: MMS sent
Messaging: New e-mail message
Messaging: New MMS
Messaging: New MMS report
Messaging: New text message
Messaging: Sending MMS
Phone: Missed call
Phone: Voice mail
QuickGPS
Reminders
Wireless network detected
NB: Installing this CAB will turn off all notifications for all of the above events. If you go into Sounds & Notifications you will be able to turn on the ones you want again. This happens because the 'repeat' checkbox cannot be enabled without changing the registry value that controls which notifications are set. It is difficult to preserve the previous values during a simple CAB installation - but if anyone knows of a way please let me know. Detailed settings, for example sound file names, are not lost.
thanks mate
Hi Dave!
Thanks for this great piece of enhancement for all of our diamonds

Hi Dave! Thanks for your reply
I tested it yesterday...it's working great, except for one thing
I'd configured the notifications for text messages. I used the option repeat which was also available, so than I wont have to miss the alert about my messages...
But what happened, I heard every ten seconds my alert, I opened my message and It just went on and on and on....even though I already opened and read my text....that's quite strange/odd.....(hope you'll understand what I mean)
Did you had same behaviour on your device??
For the rest..I really really found it useful!
Many thanks again and I hope everybody is going to like it, just as I do!
Cheers
Jeroen
Hi Jeroen,
I don't use the repeat setting - I was mainly interested in being able to turn the repeat off for reminders! I use SPB Phone Suite on my phone, which allows you to configure sounds that repeat every few minutes until the original notification has been dismissed. The beauty of that system is that it is all configurable by profile, so when the phone switches itself into night mode the repeating sounds are turned off. It's not free but there must be some alternatives.
I've just had a play with the normal repeating sounds and you're right, they're particularly ****ing useless.
thanks I really needed that
Davey 101,
Thank you for compilations.
Davey,
Thanks for this application. I've used a couple of your applications/suggestions before (I can't remember which one - bluetooth perhaps) and they all work great. Thanks for your great contribution.
By the way, I have installed this and it works on WM6.5 too.

Thanks, that means a lot.
thank you for developing this. now i won't have to go climb a bell tower. those repetitive reminders were more than just annoying while i was on a call driving and couldn't shut it of.
thanks again.
Turn off led
Davey101 how to turn off led light notifications, because this .cab is only unblocking options
any-way of making this work when phone is turned to vibrate mode? works great when phone is in ring mode for me!
Hey all
I do have a little problem concering text messages.
i'm using a custom rom. unfortunantly, i forgot what its called or who made it
in case it rings a bell: it's a very plain wm 6.5 rom. i think the only visible difference to how MS wants 6.5 to look like is a small battery meter in the top right. I've been using it for a year almost a year now i think.
there are just a few things that bother me.
by far the most annyoing one is that SMS aren't stored. the just flash on the screen with the two soft buttons becoming "save" and "dismiss". this is really bothersome because the message will also go away if you flip open screen to type, touch the screen or something like that. also, I think I loose many messages just by having the phone in my pocktes while moving around. it often happens that people tell me about messages they sent me and i have no idea what they're talking about.
another thing, which is of much less important is the camera button. I can start the camera application by pushing the dedicated button. however, running the camera application, I can't take pictures with that button. only the center, opcitcal joystick thingie button works for that...
is this a typical wm 6.5 behaviour? does anybody now of a patch or something? would appreciate your help.
Thanks
TB
Hi All
Looking to get a HTC One next week, and just have a few questions:
1) Can I change the colour notifications of the LED for different notifications i.e. email and text etc? Been told the LED will not support apps to change colour.
2) Is there a good desktop dock/charger?
Cheers
1) it only has red and green LED, so no
2) so far I've only seen this one http://www.gadgets4geeks.com.au/product/htc_one_m7_cover_mate_desktop_cradle (also available on ebay)
Great, thanks very much. I'm from the UK, so having trouble finding that dock!
So I can set say green to text messages, and red to emails?
Also, what are the best screen protectors?
Thanks again
Here is an eBay link to the dock:
http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=200912701262
No you can't change the colour of the led for certain notifications I'm afraid. Green is for messages/emails/etc (and when fully charged) and red is used when charging.
As for the screen protector, I don't know much about these since I don't use them personally, but a lot of others seem to like the Spigen one ( http://www.amazon.com/SPIGEN-SGP-Protector-Steinheil-Crystal/dp/B00BUF7EI0/)
Thanks for this info, much appreciated.
Shame about the light, I've got used to the different colours!
Has anyone used this dock? Quality?
Any tip for first powering this on and setting up? Also, my Blackberry has a find my phone function, anything similar on these?
Thanks again for taking the time to reply.

No problem, glad I can help
there was a whole thread discussing that particular dock over here.
Setting up is really easy, you can add some accounts during the first boot setup menu which automatically pops up, and then you're good to go. Then all you need to do is go to the Play Store and download the apps you want and plug it in your computer to get your music and photos on it (and other things if you want to)
There are several find my phone apps available in the Play Store, and many anti-virus programs come with anti-theft built in. Htc used to have an official find my phone service, but I think they abandoned it.
