23022 has new features.
New buttons and functionality.
Manilla 2.1 or 2.6 would be nice as well!!
Anyone?
What about those that want to build their own ROMs.

A ROM Kitchen is very much needed for people with individual requirments for ROMS.
I like to tailor make my ROMS and was accustomed to building my own ROMs using Da_Gs kitchen.
I am sure others may be interested in this too.

I'm interested for similar reasons. I saw a demo of the features in 23022 on pocketnow.com - Some good stuff in there.
You can just search for the OEM Packages and use Bepe Kitchen and you will have a Manila 2.6 Kitchen

Hi Brynweb - I see we're on the same page LOL!
I say that PocketNow video review too - 23022 upwards look very interesting...
Also I'm eager to get my paws on Manilla 2.6 although 2.6 is kinda optimised for snapdragon it definitely has additional functionality.
Thanks for your feedback Bxsteez - I will investigate adding modules to Bepes Kitchen - I also look forward to seeing what you cook up (That's if you release it of course)
Regards!

From my searching around XDA all last night and this morning it appears that like 3 people have the OEM Packages and they aren't really sharing. The Leo Packages i've found are all manila 2.5

Hi all expert cookers, was wondering could anyone supply a pure and basic windows mobile 6.5 rom with basic touchflo 3d 2 interface, no customization and no extra applications.
I can't seem to find a rom which is pure, basic and simple, most have been customized a lot.
I am new to the forum so please excuse if this sounds like a stupid question.

The title of each rom generally states date and if you open rom thread it will tell you whether it is based on 6.1 or 6.5 etc
Open rom thread and read details of thread.

try Laurentius 3.55 ROM based on windows 6.1, freaking fast mate, the fastest one yet and i've used quite a lot of cooked ROMs already this is as of today the fastest 6.1 i've used. Dutty's 6.5R6 is really fast as well. see daerons benchmarks. prynhawn da!

Nice one! Funnily enough I had already flashed Laurentius 3.55 and so far am really pleased with it. Like you I've tried a lot of different roms and came to the decision that 6.5 is not for me at the moment. Not as refined as some of the 6.1's here. Onkolongs 6.1 roms are really stable and speedy but he hasn't seemed to have updated them recently.
Iechyd da!
Maybe not the latest, but definitely my favourite.
Of all the 6.1's I have tried, I am most happy with Dutty's HD V3.9 XT Turbo (TouchFLO 2.0.37911.3).
It's stable, practical, and good looking. From what I have read, it seems to be the most popular 6.1 ROM out there.
I would be very interested if anyone has a preferred 6.1, and for what reason.
I'm not into 6.5 (mainly due to slower speed and less functional use - correct me if I'm wrong), so I really can't see me flashing again for a while. Even if I do, I'm pretty sure I'll come back to this one.
Mattster.
i think kwbr was the longest to stick with 6.1 , and his topix is close to perfection. So you might wanna flash that one
Another vote for Topix 6.1 here. It's a very, very nice ROM. Absolutely no issues whatsoever and liquid smooth at all times.

+1 for topix
Yes, I tried Topix 3.1.2 but if I remember rightly I found the visuals a little dull compared to Dutty's. I may reflash it to check though.
I must admit, it still bugs me when I compare my HD Touch to the beautifully smooth rotations and transitions on an iphone. Though I enjoy the customisation of HTC and Windows Mobile Devices, it always feels like we are struggling to reach a level of animation that the iphone already has!
Mattster.
Topix is the best so far. Dutty was good also but I think its outdated, and topix is more stable and smooth.
So +1 for topix.

Very stable and a logical program access system
This is the last WM6.1 rom that has been cooked by anyone
The only thing I like about 6.5 is how it shows today's weather under the clock on the home screen. I wish someone would make a rom that has that and none of the other added 6.5 features.

Do you mean in Manilla/Sense as opposed to WM? If so, kwbr's TOPIX 3.02 provides this functionality using Sense with WM6.1.

I didn't think you could do that with 6.1? Every time I've seen it it's with wm6.5 manila 2.1, where it basically looks like 6.1 it just has a box around the clock with the current weather icon/temperature underneath the clock.
[ROM][PRJ] Vapor-X BlackStone Rom [More Information soon]
So guys,
I realized that I cannot live without cooking so I decided to start it again.
Until now there ain't much done, because I'm running a Mac and I have to rebuild my cooking environment.
As soon as I finished I have to investigate a bit in the WinMob and Manila builds.
As you probably know (or don't know) my last roms were based on WinMob 6.1. (look for Mercurial Vapor), so I have to see what are the differences between the two WinMob versions.
If you want to see some updates have a look at my blog:

and on the dedicated project site.

Hi Ferry,
Thanks dude, let's hope I can make a nice rom, people will like.
Going to update my blog soon.
Hmm, waiting eyes-open. We always have to make a selection between stability, usability or speed..
I need some eye candy stuff . Wish you best of luck for your success in rom cooking world
Hi thanks guys,

I'm currently setting up my environment and I immediately start investigating in the new stuff.

Hi guys,
Some updates here:
I'm currently cooking a test build and I'm going to try it for one day. If it is good enough it will be released ass Pre-Alpha...
Pre-Alpha means that you can try it, but you have to use another rom such as Epiphany's rom which I like.
Of course I want you to betatest, so tell me every bug.
I will change this thread so that I have a nice list off bug reports.
Greetz
Again a couple of updates
I changed some stuff on the test build and updated some apps.
I also fixed some bugs and I added some third-party apps.
But only standart one, a couple of special apps will be added in the beta release.
I try this rom now too, and maybe share it with you
Guys again some updates:
http://www.project1809.com/project1809/
I'm at work atm and I have my laptop next to me. So I'm cooking and working. Multitasking ftw...
I hope you are still looking forward to my rom.
Some information about Vapor-X:
Manila 2.5 (with the weather under the clock)
Windows Mobile 6.5 Build 23017
Some Packages from Leo, Rhodium, Topaz and BlackStone
Based on SparkieNL's kitchen with many changes
There will be also another rom with Manila 2.1...
But I don't know a name until know. Probably I'm going call it like my previous Manila 2.1 build. Mercurial Vapor. What do you think?
Just name it VaporRom then VaporWare

Hi all fellow TP2 Users,
i have been doing my fair share of experimenting with all the custom roms available here on the XDA forums. i must say, i feel like i hit a gold mine by buying this phone and also finding this forum for support. however, i havent been able to find anyone on here that has built a custom rom that has both the Programs tab and the Footprints tab available in the rom. it would also be nice to have the twitter tab and manila tv player tab available as well. why cant these tabs all be incorporated into the rom and let us, the users, decide whether or not we wish to use them? its all about customization and user friendliness. someone please give it a try and lets see how far it flys or does it simply crash and burn.
also, anyone know where i can find a cab to add more squares to the home tab? being limited to 9 favorites of "anything" feels kinda restricting considering the capabilities of this phone!!
thanks in advance and any and all responses are encouraged on here and to my email.

Welcome to forums
There are several ROM´s with programs and footprints tabs
Just to mention one, look for Energy leo
If it´s not what you are looking for, the best way will be to contact a Chef and donate him asking your request
if u want those tab's, just use agent_47 latest ROM's
believe me, U wont regret
EDIT: oops a lil missunderstanding... was thinking about documents tab n footprints.
but still give Valkyrie a go
Isn't this because the footprints/twitter tab is a sense 2.5 tab and the programs tab is in sense 2.1? I think you'll get one or the other depending on which manila is in the rom your using...your home tab "favorites" essentially takes the place of the old programs tab

Ahh the documents tab...I've seen the screenshots but haven't yet looked around for any roms with it yet...I'll wait on nrg.
thanks for the tip on the NRG leo option. on another side note; even though im relatively new here i would like everyone to know that i am technically savvy and catch on very quickly. i can only hope that sometime in the near future i can contribute something of worth (besides a donation to a chef) to the forums and even possibly cook in the future. however, can anyone enlighten me on the "leo" "photon" differences in NRG's roms. if he has stated it, i mustve just overlooked it. also great props go out to his xmas theme and am gonna try his dusk theme soon.
i also wish to extend a great bow and offer up some kudos to two pump chumps roms as well. his roms are snappy and i love his choice of preinstalled features and games! these two chefs need to collaborate on a rom together! THAT would b awesome!!

Leo/Photon are his rom versions with different Manila (HTC's Custom Homescreen) versions cooked in. Leo has Manila 2.5 (with footprints, documents, twitter, and is portrait mode only) and photon has Manila 2.1 (has the programs tab, that card styled contacts tab, etc, works in portrait and landscape). See the screenshots in his threads to see most of the "layout" differences.
oh and dusk is not nrg's theme, he's just cooked it into his roms so you don't have to fuss with installing it...

Hi need some advice - and yes have searched the forums but there is so much different advice and opinions and it is all over the place and some bit hard to understand points that I just want a "simple" answer...
Cheers everyone...
Yes
Lol, no try a couple and see what you think, read the first few posts on the thread to see what it's about and the last few in the thread to find out about the opinions of the users. Can't be more simple than that Good luck.
The one u like more.
Start trying with the ones with more hits. leave the newer ones for the end.
Have some fun, installing a lot of new roms its part of the fun.
Hi,
There are several ROM's overhere.
I was also searching trying and looking for the best and fastest with 2.5.
If you want the looks and customization of manilla than you have to try this:
- Leo Energyrom (including MaxManilla for manilla customization)
- Xannytech Grid Evolution
For a stable rom with manilla 2.5 try this:
- Balaji WM 6.5 23540
- Mikenificent 8.0 (This is a Dutch rom)
- *** MARYONE ***
- BlackDragon 2.1.1 Speed King (Fast rom but without the fingerfriendly buttons on the bottom)
Manilla 2.1 roms (your HD will be faster)
- blackSTONEhenge™
- ★ Energy "Phoenix 2" (This one has also very nice looks )
- [Park's ROM][Sense 2.1/2.5] This one has both
Hope this will help you for making a dission.
The rom's are my personal opinion and if I forgot one......
I'ts just personal I don't use them
ive found kwbr's topix 3.5.5 to be pretty fast
whichever roms u try... the ones with sense 2.5 and No Htc messenging will perform better as the htc messenging really slows down our hd.... btw give a try to miniterrors ravage V4.1 for me currently thts the best rom.. without htc messenging version of course =)
Thanks for all the replies so far guys... really interasting and good to know what everyones thoughts are!!!

Opinionated threads like yours are generally closed as they are frowned upon in XDA do to everyone having different tastes and opinions thus creating endless long threads.
You have already been told a number of roms to try which should help you, but my advice would be to try a few and see what you like/dislike then try other roms which have the things you like so you can make your own opinion on which is best manila 2.5 rom for you
