Just flashed to Soulife 292 and contacts won't sync - they start but don't finish - tried leaving overnight etc. Tried clearing them on the phone and starting the sync again but no joy. Anything else I can try?

my gmail worked fine until this morning when i plugged it into my pc using active sync, one thing i noticed at the time is that active sync didn't do anything, i didn't think anything of it because i was only on to charge my phone really quick, it's the fist time i've had my phone plugged into my pc in about 2 weeks, it worked fine before, but now active synt doesn't do anything every since this morning now my gmail doesn't send/receive, i looked at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=357829&highlight=gmail+error and i get similar errors, "error syncronizing" and the pop up bubble that says cannot connect, and gives you the settings or dismiss options. i can't see were i can turn off active sync on the phone either, i'm using vista home and a tilt, any ideas on what this could be?
Not sure about Active Sync, but double check your gmail settings to be sure you didn't revert back to the standard ports.
I've been flashing my Tilt wit several custom roms lately. A couple days ago I found an option to "terminate data connection" when the device went to sleep. I can no longer find that option! I thought it would be under comm manager, phone settings but nothing. This really kills my battery when I can't be checkin if I'm connected every half hour
Also, around the same time of not being able to find that option, After flashing the latest builds it seems I can't sync with Yahoo mail. So I install Seven, that successfully syncs, then I try to uninstall Seven (I don't find it necessary) but I doubt it's fully erased. Anyway, my phone can then sync everytime afterward. Can someone explain to me why this is? And is there a way to skip installing Seven completely?
Diggin the loads of help around here...
This hasn't happened before when flashing numerous other roms.
Just last night, I decide to flash cog2.4
After flashing, I go to Accounts & Sync to add my google account, and it doesn't sync. Keeps giving me "Data connection is not reliable try wifi" message. So I connect via wifi and try again, but same thing - no go.
I flashed back to JF6, master clear + factory reset, and it syncs again. I decide to give it another try, and flashed cog2.4.1 this morning. Again when on the new rom, it doesn't let me sync. Data connection error keeps popping up.
No one in cog chat seems to have had this problem.
Anyone else experience this, and if you have, any solutions?
I don't want to be kept on JF6 so please help
I bought this phone last week, and everything synced fine. But now I'm getting a facebook sync error just for contacts saying "it will be back shortly"...
Any way to fix this or may it be just server related?
Edit: ok, I've tried removing and re-adding the facebook account and nothing. But it works with another facebook account.
Edit2: I even tried reseting the phone via Privacy and still the same sync error... Ideas?
I get that when I'm on wifi. When I switch back to data I'm fine
Sent from my GT-I9000M using XDA App
I get it on 3G and WiFi
Thanks for answering though!
Orktu Sync Issue
Hi, everybody, my SGS has the same problem, but only related to the Orkut sync (Orkut is a social network from google, very popular in Brazil). I tried several ways to solve this problem, like wipe the phone and upgrade the rom with Odin (with re-partition e bootloader reinstall, using several roms, froyo and eclair) and nothing worked until I use a new orkut(google) account, and it worked, but now, suddenly (in fact, after I tried to root with z4root, but I instaled a new rom already, with re-partition) stops to sync, and the same message is displayed.
What am I suposed to do?
Hi guys. I am facing an issue with my AT&T Galaxy Note 3 , ever since I updated it to Android 5.0 . After the upgrade , everything was fine for a few days. The update was taken OTA. Since the past 2-4 days , I see that the contacts on my phone would , at random times , totally disappear. My contacts are synced with my google account , so I immediately went into the sync settings and see that "sync is facing an error" specifically with the contacts.
Restarting the device does no good. After a few hours the contacts would reappear on their own. I backed up the contacts to the internal sdcard as soon as they came back , and the file was saved in the usual .vcf format. When they disappeared again , I tried restoring them manually be reloading the vcf file and I get an error "failed to read vcard" . Surprisingly , when the contacts were back on their own , I tried restoring via vcf again and this time it worked fine.
I have also tried clearing the cache and data from the "contacts" app in the application manager , but nothing seems to work. This is an issue that I have never faced before and I am seeking help on this absurd issue. I am unable to figure out what could be causing this , so please help!

Not sure if it will work, but try deleting your Google account, wiping the caches and data for contacts, reboot, and add the account back. Back up with an app from play store first tho for safe keeping.
@pre4speed - I tried that as well. It worked immediately , and then the same issue appeared after a few hours

I am having the same problem. [5.0.1 At&t Note 4]
Did anyone find a solution?
Same probkem with Note3 running 5.0., tho a restart gets the contacts back...
I disabled the at&t messages app and it seems to have solved the problem, for now at least.
I have the same problem, too.
I have the same problem with my ACE 3. I checked my google account on the laptop and all my contacts are there, I exported them into a the laptop then copied the file to my SdCard; tried in so many ways to import it, and it just fails every time!!!! I am getting really frustrated of this! Rebooting changes nothing at all; I tried to clear cache and data for Contacts and Contacts storage apps (I am really afraid to regret this later on) but still nothing worked! Help guys!
I have the same issue on my Note Edge. I have tried factory reset and still no luck. I have found a rather crappy work around when they disappear.
1) Goto Application Manager under ALL and clear storage for the Google Contact Sync
2) End all Apps by pressing on the home key and selecting the little icon in the lower left and end all
3) Start contacts app and it will begin to resync the data.
I am experiencing the same issue. Samsung phone with T-Mobile service.
