To XDA Admins or Moderators:
Seeing as Rhodium is quickly becoming a popular device, it would make much more sense to create a new sub-forum within Rhodium, ie: Custom ROMs only for fully developed ROMs ready to flash, opposed to just making it a sticky within ROM Development.
More ROMs will be cooked up I think, so it makes sense.
Yeah I agree! Have all cooked ROMs that are out and that will be released in the future all in one spot. This way people don't have to search for cooked ROMs. Go to that one place and flash the one they want out the list. But I guess they need for cooked ROMs before they do this.
Try Here
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/ for all devices and
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Rhodium for Rhodium
seeing as how the tp2 will be on so many different networks, i imagine flashing the wrong rom could do some damage\brick, correct? if so, maybe different subforums like tmo us rhodium roms, sprint rhodium etc.

Nope! As long as you Hard-SPL you are able to flash any cooked ROM you want.
Their is no Sprint, T-Mobile or ATT ROMs unless they are stock. Cooked ROMs is the way to go.
Not quite. Flashing a GSM ROM to a CDMA device is a BAD IDEA. And it will brick your phone, based on my understanding.
Or is this limited only to the HSPL?

Correct
Different Hardspl's and different roms.
I would also like to see a section that only contains complete ROMs that are ready to flash.... IF it could remain locked to prevent the posting of new threads containing questions and comments that are irrelevant to the section.
Additionally, this post can be moved to the new section and made a sticky:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=557177
The Rhodium ROM Development section could remain for ROMs that are currently under development as well as for threads regarding the development of new ROMs.

Hi guys,
Is there already a cooked ROM available (maybe I missed it: don't flame me please!)? I didn't see anything mentioned in the Wiki about cooked ROM's anyway.
I now run a Dutch Orange branded ROM which I'm not completely happy with.
we dont even have an unlocker made yet, much less the ability to flash unsigned code to the device.... so no, there are no cooked roms yet
is there any question about there being cooked rom's in the future ?
just curious, i've never messed with any of that stuff.
have there been HTC devices that were impervious to that sort of thing ?
Hi everyone,
I've discovered your great forum because I've bought an HTC TyTN II.
I have some questions for you, because I've read several posts and threads but because for me it's the first time that I own and use a PPC PDA, I'm in trouble for small things.
I'm using an italian version of ROM (I don't know if it's correct to say so), and I need to know if there is a way and the possibility to upgrade my ROM.
When I power on the device, I see:
R 1.27.12.11
G 22.45.88.07h
D 1.56.00.00
Someone can explain me (or show a link for an explanation), please, what these parameters are?
This is my first question, for now.
Thanks to all the forum,
Bye,
ghale.
Sorry for my english!
bump.
curious as to the meaning of these cryptic numbers as well.
I think one of them may be Rom version?
They are the three roms. Radio rom which controls the GSM and 3G operation; the main rom which is the operating system for the device and I think the third one is the customisation/extended rom for your network/brand of device.
Ok, thanks.
Where can I find the latest version of these three roms?
Can I update only one of these or I have to upgrade all in the same time?

Usually official roms comprise all three... but the clever fellows here create custom updates that can update one individually. If you have a look at thre Kaiser upgrading forum you will see there are one or two OS only updates.
Have a look over the Hermes wiki page and you will see links to loads of different OS's and loads of different radio roms - although they are for that device and not the Kaiser. I am sure there will be loads of Kaiser roms before too long.

I'll look for the newest upgraded ROMS.
I've find this GREAT forum and I'll (hope) be a good member.
Bye,

I would really appreciate it if someone could answer a few of these questions. I tried searching, but I couldnt find them.
Why is there a seperate hearald mobile 6 thread? Is there a difference? And how do you get windows mobile 6.1? I couldn't find a download for that.
Also, is installing something like touch IT just a faster way to install a bunch of different cabs? I'm asking because I wanted to know if I could just download the cabs I wanted and not have to download a whole pack. And what is hard-spl? I've seen the forum for it but it gives no clue on what it really is.
Herald mobile 6 is for discussions regarding windows mobile 6 on herald (herald is default wm5, while wing is wm6), whereas rom development is for discussion in regards to roms.
To get wm6.1, install a wm6.1 rom (read the stickies for instructions on installing roms).
While custom roms do include fixes that can be installed via cabs, they are also built on new bases that are faster or more stable than the present ones. These cannot be installed via cab.
Hard-SPL is a way of getting around the CID lock on the phone that prevents it from being flashed with custom roms. It is more or less permanent.
This is your free noob question. Welcome to the forums
thanks so much for your reply
i'm sorry, but there are still a few more things I wanted to ask, if you don't mind.
I understand hard-spl, but what is soft-spl? and what is a radio? also, is there a reason for choosing one rom over the other, other than personal preference? and whats an ipl?
If these are really obvious questions, please point me to a thread I could read up on. I've modded razrs and iphones, but I haven't done anything as complicated as a wm device.

I explain the differences between HardSPL and USPL in this thread.
A radio is... how do i explain this... the GSM software on the device? Put it this way, the newer the Radio, the better reception and phone quality you will get, usualy.
When it comes down to choosing between ROMs, its all personal preference, I strongly recommend trying the Open Touch V4.0 Biggy.
Please search and read, all of your answer can be found that way. Just like we all did.
thanks so much everyone, hopefully when i get on track I can help out newer noobs

Read WIKI, should answer all your questions
Search & use the Wiki
First, since you're a noob, no problem asking. But in the future, please use the search function and use the Blackstone Wiki pages to find answers before posting.

1) SPL
1a) To flash a rom from htc, just follow htc's instructions for installing the rom
1b) To flash a custom rom, you must use a custom SPL (or bootloader) which bypasses htc's built-in security check and allows for custom rom flashing.
1b1) USPL - This is a temporary spl which doesn't stay with the device. Find it here
1b2) HSPL - This is a permanent solution and allows for flashing custom roms many times and doesn't go away after flashing or hard resetting. Find it here
*Note: Please remember to use the donate button to show your appreciation to the software authors for allowing you this functionality
2) Custom ROMs
2a) List of custom roms here. Which cooked rom you use is up to you. On other devices, different cooked roms can offer different functionality and looks. On the HD however, I'm seeing cooked roms simply keeping up with new releases of WinMo and performance enhancements. I use Dutty's rom simply because he's an experienced rom cook and I've used his things on other devices, but you should read what each rom offers and decide for yourself.
Most importantly, HAVE FUN!!
Cheers! --Jesse

Well summarised!!!
Hi,
I'm still running the OEM WM6.1 which came with my TP2. I'm interested in installing an updated version (custom?), but is a bit confused at this stage. What's the difference between a ROM, Splash and Radio? Also, my TP2 has an IMEI number, does that mean it is a GSM device and not a CDMA device?
I'm really worried about bricking it...
Also, what is Sense, Manilla, etc.?
Thanks in advance!
